Event Description: SATURDAYS are geared-towards ages 4-6 Weehawken Creative Arts is proud to present Kids Art Erichment Workshop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Painting Marmot in Ouray (Starting the week of October 19th) from 3:40 - 5 pm on Mondays, 2:40 - 4 pm on Wednesdays and 11:00 - 12:15 on Saturdays. Tracy Imhoff will lead your child each week in a designated project in Weehawken's Kids Afterschool Arts Enrichment program in Ouray! Following her goals of promoting after-school arts programs to help the community, Tracy has identified specific cirriculums and projects where students will learn art skills to take with them and build upon in life. November 9th / 11th: Draw a Majestic Elk in Pastel - Join Tracy for an interactive pastel learning experience. This class provides students with an opportunity to learn technique, use a variety of pastels, and see how different pastel artists approach their subject matter. This week we will draw and create a majestic elk in pastel. November 16th / 18th / 21st: Draw a Miner in Pastel on Black Paper - Join Tracy for an interactive pastel learning experience. This class provides students with an opportunity to learn technique, use a variety of pastels, and see how different pastel artists approach their subject matter. This week we will look back to the roots and history of Ouray and will create a Miner in pastel on Black Paper! Get Ready for Holiday Gift-Giving with Tracy! Have Fun Creating Ornaments this Month! December 7th / 9th / 12th: Itty Bitty Painted Ornaments - Join Tracy as you will be painting holiday ornaments with fun designs that you will be able to keep for years to come - - - or give as a heartfelt gift this holiday season. These darling little Itty Bitty Christmas ornaments will be painted on mini stretched canvas (3”x3”) - the perfect surface to create a masterpiece for your tree! This is a great class for a group of friends or just anyone looking to have some fun - - - And it's the perfect task to set your child on as you finish (or start) your holiday shopping and wrapping projects! ---- Parents are welcome to attend the ornament classes as well. December 14th / 16th / 19th: Sculpey Clay Ornaments - Join Tracy as you will be creating mini holiday ornaments out of polimerclay that you will be able to keep for years to come - - - or give as a heartfelt gift this holiday season. HDR is the hot topic in photography and now you can learn it too! HDR or “high dynamic range” lets us photograph scenes formerly impossible to capture in a single image. If you have ever photographed a high contrast scene, you know that even the best exposure will typically have blown out highlights and dark shadows. The HDR process involves shooting several shots at various exposures and then combining them with a very special software, called Photomatix Pro. Working with BEAUTIFUL glass, a few simple hand tools (glass cutter, safety glasses, etc.) students will learn the techniques to fuse glass. Event Description: A workshop for beginning to intermediate adults This class is very exciting, visually stimulating, and tons of fun. Working with BEAUTIFUL glass, a few simple hand tools (glass cutter, safety glasses, etc.) students learn the techniques to fuse glass. Amazing one-of-a-kind pieces will be created and a product that you will surely be proud of (for keeping or for giving this holiday season) will be the end result! The class focus is on the Joy of Creation, however, glass cutting techniques, studio safety, and properties of glass will also be covered. Students will need to return to the studio another day to pick up their work. The workshop is led and taught by Ridgway Artist, Rose Walsh. She is a Ridgway based Artist and Teacher bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the studio classes that she teaches. Her classes, offered in a variety of media, focus on the joy of creation as students learn the basics of the medium being taught. From her still life’s and contemporary scenes, as well as, her experimental explorations, Rose is never at a loss for subject matter. She creates intuitively using color, texture and composition for emotional impact reflecting her perception of life. She enjoys working in a variety of media and does not hesitate to mix media, if she finds it necessary to her expression. Walsh sculpts in a variety of media, as well as, creates jewelry in silver, fused glass and gemstones. She has won awards in regional and national shows and her work is in private and public collections. Walsh owned and ran Mountain Arts Studio, a small art school, as well as, Coldwater Gallery of Fine Art, both in Ridgway, where she taught art classes to youth, as well as, adults. Event Description: For beginners ages 8+ In this workshop students will be using a historical photographic method called cyanotype, found objects and the sun to create beautiful images called solar grams. We will discuss the cyanotypes role in photographic history, spend time collecting objects from nature and then print with the sun. Students are encouraged to bring items from home such as flowers leaves and other flat items. Images created in this workshop will be perfect for holiday gifts or cards. This class is led and instructed by Shauna Tewksbury. Tewksbury received a degree in fine art photography from Prescott College, where she studied historical processes and large format photography. Shauna enjoys teaching photography classes and sharing her excitement for the unlimited ways in which people can create photographic images. In this class you will paint either a ceramic platter with handprints for Thanksgiving OR you will paint a darling ceramic pumpkin that will be perfect for your Thanksgiving table or next Halloween! Robbie will glaze and fire your pieces and your fabulous masterpieces will be ready to pick-up in about a week. The teacher, Robbie Stellmacher moved to Ridgway last summer from Connecticut. Prior to moving to Colorado, Robbie owned and operated "All Fired Up," a Paint-Your-Own-Pottery studio for six years. She developed and taught Boys/Girls Scout Clay Badge Programs, 10 weeks of Summer Camps and After School Enrichment Programs for 15 schools in New York and Connecticut. Weehawken Dance wants you to “save the date” and make plans to attend Weehawken’s “The Nutcracker” in Ouray on December 18 & 19, 2009 at the Wright Opera House in Ouray. Make plans to enjoy the Christmas Spirit as Weehawken’s talented dancers grace the stage in their production of “The Nutcracker.” This production will again feature local dancers from WCA’s program, and will present highlights from Tchaikovsky’s beloved traditional Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker. This deliciously lush production is a feast for the eyes as much as it is a feast for the heart and soul. Audience members will delight in the performance and will relish in what can only be described as a “true community” event. Performances will be held on December 18 & 19 at 6 pm and on December 19 at 2 pm at the Wright Opera House in Ouray.
