Terminbeschreibung: SATURDAYS are geared-towards ages 4-6 Weehawken Creative Arts is proud to present Kids Art Erichment Workshop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Painting Marmot in Ouray (Starting the week of October 19th) from 3:40 - 5 pm on Mondays, 2:40 - 4 pm on Wednesdays and 11:00 - 12:15 on Saturdays. Tracy Imhoff will lead your child each week in a designated project in Weehawken's Kids Afterschool Arts Enrichment program in Ouray! Following her goals of promoting after-school arts programs to help the community, Tracy has identified specific cirriculums and projects where students will learn art skills to take with them and build upon in life. Check here for regular updates on the class schedule offered from October 2009 through May 2010! Get Halloween Crazy this October with Tracy! October 19th / 21st: Make a Diorama for Halloween! Students will learn bone anatomy and will create their very own Halloween Diorama. You'll be able to take a peek into the spookiest and sweetest little world out there. This class is perfect for creating a lasting and memorable treasure and would make a really great gift for holiday lovers or anyone that loves all things small. October 26th / 28th: Glow in the Dark Pumpkin Zipper Pulls for Halloween! Students will use Glow in the Dark Sculpey Clay to genterate a fun and festive zipper pull that they can take with them on their Halloween Trick or Treating! The Cost for this workshop is as follows: $13/week for Weehawken Members or $15/week for Non-Weehawken Members. HDR is the hot topic in photography and now you can learn it too! HDR or “high dynamic range” lets us photograph scenes formerly impossible to capture in a single image. If you have ever photographed a high contrast scene, you know that even the best exposure will typically have blown out highlights and dark shadows. The HDR process involves shooting several shots at various exposures and then combining them with a very special software, called Photomatix Pro. Photographers can now photograph difficult scenes and hold detail in both the shadows and highlights. Output can be adjusted for realistic or exaggerated color. During the four hours of "Beginning Knitting" students will learn and practice the basics of knitting. Students will learn to knit, purl, increase and decrease. Time permitting, they will also learn a simple cable. It will then be on to hats and scarves! The workshop will be led and instructed by Linda Borof. Linda Borof owned knitting stores, "The Knitting Basket" in Oakland, California and "The Knittery" in San Francisco, California for 21 years. She has taught many people to knit and has been recognized as an expert instructor by the National Needlework Association. We will discuss the cyanotypes role in photographic history, spend time collecting objects from nature and then print with the sun. Weehawken Dance wants you to “save the date” and make plans to attend Weehawken’s “The Nutcracker” in Ouray on December 18 & 19, 2009 at the Wright Opera House in Ouray. Make plans to enjoy the Christmas Spirit as Weehawken’s talented dancers grace the stage in their production of “The Nutcracker.” This production will again feature local dancers from WCA’s program, and will present highlights from Tchaikovsky’s beloved traditional Christmas ballet, The Nutcracker. This deliciously lush production is a feast for the eyes as much as it is a feast for the heart and soul. Audience members will delight in the performance and will relish in what can only be described as a “true community” event. Performances will be held on December 18 & 19 at 6 pm and on December 19 at 2 pm at the Wright Opera House in Ouray. Ticket prices will be as follows: Adults: $13 Non-Member / $12 Member (presenting membership card or by calling Weehawken in advance) Reserved Seats (Saturday Matinee and Saturday Evening Performances): $18 Member / $20 Non-Member Children: $6 Sunday Matinee: $10 Senior Citizen (over 65) Friday Night, December 18th, Weehawken Dance will also be hosting a special event and fundraiser at Venue Roscoe Fox tied to “The Nutcracker” performance where participants in the event will have prime, reserved seats for the performance as well as enjoy a special event and the food and spirits associated with the special event.
