While the UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez event is a tick over a month away, the UFC is looking to possibly add asnother fight to the 10-bout card that is currently in place.

The only holdup is whether Paul Buentello will be a part of the fight card; the holdup is whether the organziation can find a suitable opponent for Buentello as Todd Duffee pulled out of UFC 107 due to an undisclosed illness. With the Buentello situation in limbo, here is the tentative card for the event, scheduled to take place on December 12 from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, TN:

Because of heavyweight Brock Lesnar suffering from an illness, it appears that the bout pitting challenger Shane Carwin against Lesnar is on hold – for right now.

On Carwin’s official blog, he had this to say about the development:

“Guys my manager Jason Genet just told me that UFC 108 is not happening. Brock has Mono and what the UFC has told me is that I have earned the title shoot but I have to wait for the title holder.

“I hope Brock gets well soon. I highly suggest he get into a Max Muscle store because they have the best advice and supplements to support that advice. It really is the only way to make it through the grueling weather and training we live through.

“Here’s to spending some time with the family and eating as much as I can at Thanksgiving.

For those of you who have suffered through a bout of mononucleosis, then you already know that the malady is stubborn as hell. Here is hoping that Lesnar recovers quickly and will be able to train in a short amount of time. A Lesnar-Carwin fight would bring big numbers to whichever UFC event that adds this bout. But Lesnar recovering his health is the most important thing right now.

One fight removed from a fight at another MMA organization, lightweight Bart Palaszewski will return to the WEC to face Anthony Pettis at WEC 45: Cerrone vs. Ratcliff, which is scheduled to take place on December 19 from The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

Palaszewski looks to get his first WEC win sicne a December 2008 TKO victory over Alex Karalexis; he has since dropped consecutive bouts to WEC fighters Anthony Njokuani and Ricardo Lamas. His most recent win came over Tyler Combs in an XFO event  earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Pettis looks to build on his budding WEC career as he earned a victory in his WEC debut at WEC 41; he had been scheduled to fight Rob McCullough at WEC 44 in November, but an injury sidelined him. With this imminent signing, WEC 45: Cerrone vs. Ratcliff looks like this:

Ever since Gina Carano was soundly defeated by Cris Cyborg during a Strikeforce event back in August, very little has come from her camp. But according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, he doesn’t expect to see her back in the cage until mid-2010.

During Fanhouse MMA’s version of The MMA Hour, Coker stated that Carano isn’t in Strikeforce’s immediate plans, adding:

“It’s pretty clear that we won’t see her until second quarter of next year, and probably late second quarter. Probably towards the summertime. That’s when we’re expecting her back.”

Curently, Carano is involved in a film put put by Steven Soderbergh titled, “Knockout”; filming will commence around early 2010. Regardless of when she returns, Carano expects to be in the title mix as the division she is in (145-lb) has been amped up.

This should be interesting should heavyweight Bobby Lashley decide to ink a deal with Strikeforce and work the pro wrestling circuit.

Because the original opponent of the bout involving Jeff Curran, Sam Thao, was not approved by the Illinois Athletic Commission, a new opponent had to be found on rather short notice for the fight scheduled to take place at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers. The vent is scheduled to take place on November 7 at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, IL. Curran’s new opponent will now be Dustin Neace.

Curran signed with Strikeforce this month following his release from WEC after suffering four consecutive losses; following this bout, Curran will take on Tomohiko Hori at an XFO event on December 5.

Neace’s most recent bout was on August 29 in Austin, TX as he suffered a TKO loss to Nick Gonzalez. With this slight change in the event, Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers now looks like this:
