Imaging 2012 || New Orleans, LA

Imaging was in NOLA this year. Imaging is a photography conference put on by PPA. This was my second year going, and this time my wonderful hubby went with me.

Our first stop was lunch at Commander’s Palace. The food, of course, was exceptional!

We stayed at a hotel right on the circle between the garden district and the French quarters, called Hotel Modern. Let’s just say it was as unique as New Orleans. The room made you feel almost like you were at home with stacks of books on the dresser and in the bathroom.

We bought a day pass for the trolly and traveled up and down the area.

I had no idea the number of beads you just find in random places.

We made our way down to Bourbon Street.

And saw some rather unique characters. This guy was frozen like this. He was quite good at it too!

And we could not leave without getting some masks.

We walked the vendor hall and got to put our hands on all the products as well as listen to other photographers talk about their business.

Eventually the sun went down on Imaging and we headed back home.

I had the privilege of teaching this student way back when. There are 3 girls in this family and they could not be any sweeter (including mom who is just awesome!). I am also fairly certain she will never forget her senior pictures…she locked her keys in her car and I had to drive her back to her house to get a spare. I am so glad she contacted me for her senior pictures!

While at Imaging 2011, Katrina and I went with a small group to see how Eric John shoots seniors. For 3 hours we walked around the San Antonio River Walk and discussed lighting and posing techniques.

I went to Imaging USA with a friend from Nebraska, Katrina, I met up with on my Clickin’ Moms forum. We could not have picked any better than the 2 of us! (Or so I think!!!) Both of us are teachers and so we were kindred spirits. We met up with 2 other photographers, Ariana, who has these fabulous templates for displaying wall portraits to clients and Kevin, who well…is just a great photographer and if you can’t tell FULL of personality!

I found the trade show to be super fun! We got to put our hands on products and talk with vendors.

And of course…there were “famous” photographers there such as Lori Nordstrom. She probably thinks I am nuts taking a picture of her! But I was star struck!

I was completely out of my comfort zone for this…but so glad I went!
