Rows A through I – bigger rigs need the F-H , I will fit any size rig but only has electric and water.  Has several areas around for tents, a lot of shade in the tent areas and playground. Two pavilions for group functions are available.

Lakeside RV Campground

Lakeside RV Campground is located in Provo, close to Utah Lake.  The first time we stayed here we were very new with the RV and had a difficult time with navigating the roads. They are average sized for most campgrounds. Now, they are no problem to navigate. I like the location as it is close to friends and family. We knew when we started this journey, the first year we would be staying close to home. We jumped into this lifestyle very quickly, a few months after deciding to buy the fifth wheel and travel, empty the house, rent it out, and now here we are! Appointments, two weddings, vacations, plans with friends and families that were scheduled already and the ability to travel very far away is yet to be down the road.

Timing is everything in Provo.  Utah Lake and the surrounding areas have a lot of mosquitos at certain times of the year.  Usually in the spring. The first two visits we were lucky, no mosquitoes. The third, a usually hot time of year, but some summer storms and rain for several days and the mosquitoes were out! The campground is a little older, but they are kept clean and manicured, there are some long term residents, but the spaces they are in are nice, and not at all trashy looking. Office staff have been friendly and helpful everytime we have called or went in to the office. We scheduled our reservation wrong and were reimbursed for the days we overscheduled on our second visit without any problem.  Lakeside RV Campground is located a little ways from town, so no walking to any restaurants or shopping. It requires a five to ten minute drive into town for the stores and restaurants. They do bring in food trucks regularly, we were there a week, over the 4th of July, and they had four different trucks during that week. Five minutes up the road is the best steak sandwich shop around too!

The general store, laundry, showers, restrooms and pool are all located in the main building, as well as a smaller shower out building located at the lower level of row H. The laundry room is small, only five or six washers and dryers. I have not had any problem with getting access to them on any of our visits, but it could be an issue if there were busy times. Parking at the main building is limited.Space at your site is enough to park, your tow vehicle at your site, that is a big thing for me! There is also a river trail alongside the park with steps up to the trail. What we really like about this campground is the many mature trees and the shade. There is so much natural shade around, it is very nice. You can hear the water from the stream when it is quiet.

Although we know we will return due to the location close to family and friends, our ‘will we return’ meter is at 75% as the space between the rigs is a little tight, the mosquitoes on the last visit were rough, and the cable did not have great reception at site G11.  There is room for improvement, but it is still the best RV Campground in the area in my opinion! So this will always be our first go to when we need to go back to home base.

Springville KOA

Springville KOA is in a great location, right off the feeway, close to stores, restaurants. Walking distance to the liquor store, a convenience store and a cafe restaurant. Restaurants are a few minutes drive away. Freeway entrance is easy to access and a grocery store is the next freeway exit up. A mall is the next freeway exit in the other direction. I really wanted to love this place.

The KOA is an older park, it is well maintained, but the roads are very narrow. We reserved a large rig site, our rig is 39 feet. We barely fit in the spot and our truck did not fit in our site either in front or behind or beside our rig. There was only a few spots of overflow parking available at the front of the park and in the week that we were there, only once saw an open spot in the overflow parking. We parked in front of our rig and tried to park off of the lawn as best we could. We received a nasty note the first day letting us know we were on the lawn and that we would be kicked out if we continued to park there. This upset me, I felt like they could at least talk to us as we were obviously there, our truck was there. We continued parking there and did not recieve another one, but I worried about it the whole time. So not relaxing!I I tried several times to go to the office to ask about it, but no one was in the office, there was a note on the door saying they were out and about in the park. I didn’t see them out and about, so I just gave up and hoped we didn’t get another one.

The spots had a patch of grass, each site had the neighbors sewer lines by your site, not the every other facing sites. Our site did not have a picnic table available. Some did and some didn’t. I assumed as they broke they were not replaced, but maybe it was just taken by someone else. I don’t know, I went for walks daily, and noticed several other spots did not have tables either. Did not notice any with more than one. The only time I saw the office staff was check in, they were ok, I tried several times throughout the stay to talk to them about the notice we received and wasn’t able to find them in, so I can’t comment on whether they would have done anything. I wanted to like this place. I really did. Collin even told me the last evening we were there, “you need to go out, enjoy the outside like you do at all of the campsites” So I got my chair, my glass of wine, got the kitties on their leashes and went out to enjoy the evening with my kindle. Within 45 minutes I was running inside with tons of itchy bites on my feet and lower legs from all the bugs from the grass. So, I really tried. This place just did not meet any of my expectations. It is close to home base so we may have to stay here if nothing else is available, but it will be my last choice.

Site # C 33

This was a smaller rig site, our rig fit, but our truck did not. We had to park down the road. The overflow parking was sometimes hard to find close to us, plenty available in the park, but a nice walk to our spot. The bigger rig spots were large and nice for the bigger rigs.

Amenities: Full hook ups, laundry, pool in season, small store. Showers and restrooms at several locations. Dog run, playground, horseshoe pit. Grass in between spots. Cement pads for easy leveling. Gated entrance.

Pony Express RV Resort

Pony Express RV Resort located in North Salt Lake Utah. A little difficult, needed navigation to find, but is close to an RV dealership with service and parts.  The closest town for shopping and restaurants is a fifteen to twenty minute drive on the freeway. Freeway access is very easy from the site. Freeway is seen and the noise is also heard. An industrial plant is also close by, so at times some obnoxious odors can be smelled. The resort itself is very clean and well maintained. The cleanest I have seen. Grass is green and no weeds, all sites are concrete, level with a moderate strip of grass, picnic table and large streets to navigate. Cabins are available for camping, no tent sites. I liked it better than Collin did, he thought it was a little too concrete jungle. It was easy for me to walk at lunch, close to the Jordan Parkway trail, had bikes and carts to rent and nice staff. I looked at reviews from several sites before we booked here. They all had all only three stars. All were for the freeway noise and the intermittant smell of the refinery. These two things are something the park cannot change, and they are doing everything else right.  We both at one time or another have lived close to this area and did not really notice the smell. Freeway noise doesn’t bother me much so the noise wasn’t a big deal for me. The negatives for me was the sites were all pull in the same direction so the sewer lines were at your picnic table. And the distance to town.

We stayed here last minute as we were planning on a boondocking site for the time specified and the site we had planned was flooded out. Spring and summer camping in Utah can be difficult to obtain sites close to the Salt Lake Valley and we had our daughter’s wedding so we had to be in the area. All area campgrounds were full due to the start of the camping season. We called at the last minute and they were able to find us a spot that was a little smaller than we would normally fit, but we were very happy to have it! There were also not as many full time living here as in some of the other parks we have been in. Only a few of the many spots had full time people in them.

Ken’s Lake

Ken’s Lake is a BLM Campground that is boondocking 10-15 minutes outside of Moab, Ut. Close to all of the fun shopping, dining and adventures of the town, and of course all of the hiking, biking, jeeping and many adventures that is Moab!  There are two loops to this campground, the upper loop that is closer to the lake and the lower loop that is a little further away from the water, but is closer to the hiking and trails and the waterfall. Yes, a waterfall in Moab! It is a man made waterfall, but is gorgeous and a nice hike to the top. The lake is also a moderate walking distance. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit, charcoal fire grill, and is flat. Very easy to level the GOP.

OuR Odd Realities Map – Camps & Points of Interest

We were located next to the entrance to the loop so easy for a large rig to enter and exit, a large parking spot across the road for day visitors. I thought at first that it would be noisy or a problem, but I didn’t notice the traffic at all. It was a very quiet and nice. Large areas for each spot. We would bring the kitties out on their leashes each evening for dinner and they would climb the trees, take over our chairs and just enjoy the night breeze and a glass or two of wine. No, I don’t share the wine with the kitties, they share my chair and my lap, that is enough sharing.

Site # 79, Site # 75, Site # 70

• Site #’s 76-79 were large pull through big rig full view, no obstructed view sites, rated premium, and a lot more money
• # 75 was on a row of 4 smaller big rig sites, still rated premium, not worth the premium price in my opinion, closer together,
• # 70 was in the end row on the main area. Regular prices, closer to the highway so a little noisier. Still a nice spot.

Archview RV Resort Review

Archview RV Resort is about 15 miles outside of Moab, dirt and gravel, large spacious, roads, easy to navigate. Premium spots were unobstructed views with large spots between rigs. This was very helpful to us as we are still learning the navigation of our rig at this point! Picnic tables are provided, as well as a grill fire pit. There was not any fires allowed except in the grill at each site, but were several community fire pit sites. They were closer to the cabins available but we didn’t use them, we used our propane fire lotus. On site general store with gas pumps, propane available, several bath houses, a pool, playground and dog area. We don’t use the dog areas, as we have two cats who travel with us, they are getting used to their harnesses and leashes and would take walks with me around the area. They liked the premium spots the best as they were the quietest spots and allowed exploring with less scaring of said kitties. The views were gorgeous, with easy access to the National Parks.

We enjoyed this park, the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We went to Moab to boondock for a few weeks. We had gotten a late start and at the last minute on a very busy week in Moab, decided to stay in a park. I know, great planning! We had three different sites as they were full, but had several one night sites available. The last site we were able to stay for several nights due to a cancellation.

We plan on making a reservation in advance next time and will definitely be staying here again!
