My SHINee 5th Anniversary Appreciation Post

It's SHINee's 5th Anniversary today! Can you imagine? This fabulous group of boys have been SHINee for 5 whole years and still going strong. This boggles my mind because people are always talking about the 5 year curse in Kpop, but SHINee just keeps getting better and better. Instead of succumbing to infighting or any of the other woes that other Kpop groups have broken up over, these boys seem to just get stronger.

I've been following SHINee for a little over a year now and they have managed to make themselves into one of my absolute favorite groups. I'm not just talking about one of my favorite groups in Kpop, I mean in general. Why, you ask? Well I have a ton of reasons, but mainly because they persevere in the face of adversity, they are as honest as they are allowed to be. They're funny, silly and have a ton of personality, which they're not afraid to show. They also wow me with their musical prowess and determination to grow and improve.

SHINee is always ahead of the curve fashion-wise. Their stylists (and Key) has had them wearing some pieces that might make you think, "What the hell?" at first, but months to a year later you're wondering where you can get the same type of item.

Statement necklaces have been in vogue for awhile, and these Juliette neck pieces are very similar to ones I've seen in the past 6 months.

Alexander Wang's 2013 Spring shoe line is very reminiscent of their Lucifer leg pieces.

I would wear this vest today if I could.

Pattern on pattern is so on trend. You should try it!

If they mess up onstage, only the most eagle eyed of fans will notice because they are just that good at covering for each other. Remember this?

That was them at M! Countdown, on one of their first "Dream Girl" stages. The base for Minho's mic stand fell off and they just seamlessly got rid of it without pausing. Now that's what I call teamwork and professionalism. I don't think any other group could pull that off so well.

EXO Has Been Releasing Teasers Like Crazy... Get Ready For "Wolf"

Last week SM Entertainment shocked the Kpop world with their announcement that EXO would at long last be releasing a full length album. The album will be called "XOXO (Kiss&Hug)" and tons of image teasers and their first video preview have been unleashed on us unsuspecting EXO fans.

I've compiled all of teasers that have been released into one post. Aren't I nice? First let's take a gander at EXO's mv teaser for their first single off the album. The song is called "Wolf and the Beauty (Wolf)" but obviously I'm just going to call it Wolf from now on. The song is purported to be a mix of hip hop and dubstep and, as mentioned by SM reps, contains:

detailed storytelling that reminds one of a European fairytale mixed together with witty lyrics.

Interesting.

I really don't know whether I should laugh, cry or be amazed to be honest. You can probably tell that my first reaction was to laugh because all that roaring and crawling is killing me.

Remember a few months ago when a supposed EXO song with the same title was "leaked" and everyone was cracking jokes?

Yeahhhh... I'm a little bit scared. This song and mv will either be epic or awful; I'm pretty sure there will be no in between reactions.

"XOXO (Kiss&Hug) will be released worldwide on all major music sites on June 3rd. The album contains 10 songs, half in Chinese and half in Korean, including the highly anticipated "My Lady" and "Baby Don't Cry". EXO-M and EXO-K will be promoting together as one between Korea and China, and the news sites have been letting us know to anticipate powerful performances.

Their first comeback stage will be held on Mnet's M! Countdown on May 30th, so get ready EXO fans!

SHINee is Finally 5 Again On M! Countdown: Welcome Back Jonghyun!

Jonghyun is back! Yes that's right, my Shawol friends, SHINee is finally 5 again. Earlier this morning the boys appeared on M! Countdown for their first "Why So Serious?" goodbye stage. There's been lots of fangirling and fanboying (is that fanperson-ing?) going on all over the world and, in fact, we even managed to trend a Korean phrase on Twitter for over an hour. How fun is that? Read on for a ton of screencaps and some pics & video:

Look at our OT5 them up there! Repeat after me: I'm so glad our Jjongie is back! He's looking a bit thin and pale, but that's ok. You know the poor guy has probably not been outside for more than a few minutes for months. Didn't you know he's the real zombie in WSS?

Let's talk about "Sleepless Night" for a minute...

You know Minho and Jjong have lost weight when their pants are loose.

I thought they all sounded so good, including our favorite Dino boy. Phew! I was so worried that his voice would sound strained, but it seems like SM Ent brought him back at a good time.

Sing it diva style, Jonghyun!

Minho's low tone complimented this beautiful arrangement, Onew sounded so smooth as always, and Taemin's voice continues to amaze and delight me, but Key! Oh my gawd, Key. He has obviously been working on his voice and it really came through here. I'm thinking he's managed to redeem himself after that sad sack "Replay" stage from the other day.

The only thing I'm sad about in this whole situation is that Jonghyun is back at the last minute. Listen, I'm not saying that Bling Bling Jonghyun is the best singer ever or that he left this huge gaping hole in SHINee that no one could ever fill... or am I?? I just think that when a song is written and choreographed for 5 people, it's pretty damned noticeable when someone is missing from that configuration.

The 4 boys held their own in the past few weeks, but everything is better when all 5 boys are together.

Today's WSS was the best yet, and it is my honest opinion that SHINee would've won for "Why So Serious?" at least once if Puppy Jonghyun had been there the whole time.

Watching Jamong's tiny body bounce around with the rest of them was the highlight of my day so far; I found my eyes straying towards him over and over just to see what spin he would put on each move. Minho, Onew, Taemin and Key have been looking pretty damned exhausted recently, and their stages have suffered because of that, but they seemed to have acquired a visible burst of energy here.

A few people showed up to my #JONGHYUNisBACK chat party at 5 am (for us on the East Coast!) and we had a little bet going to see if Jjong would do the WSS split or what I like to call "the Onew":

Nice job on "the Onew"! It was either done to keep everything symmetrical or because he still is in a bit of pain. Either way, watching this part made my perma-grin even bigger.

All in all, I think it's been an excellent first day back together as 5HINee, don't you ??

UPDATED: SHINee's Jonghyun Will Finally Be Back Today On M! Countdown!

Let the partying begin, because SHINee's Jonghyun is finally back, and is making his "Why So Serious?" debut on M! Countdown. He's only been gone for 2 months but it feels like forever, doesn't it? Shawols everywhere are almost peeing their pants in excitement (including me). It's pretty sad that he'll be back just when they are doing their goodbye stages on all the shows. Sigghhh. Want to see something awesome though? Look at this business:

DAMN he's blonde! That's blonder than Key and Taemin have ever been. It's so blonde it almost looks green... or is it actually green-ish? Hmm... we shall see, won't we? Also, DAMN he's thin. Wth? He hasn't even been doing all the dancing and singing and fan servicing that the others have... what's up with that? Lastly, why does Key look annoyed? Maybe he doesn't like his crazy half-skirt-over-shorts-with-knee-socks outfit. Maybe he's feeling salty because he won't be able to hog the spotlight anymore. Maybe he really needs to pee. I don't know... I'm just throwing things out there.

G-Dragon and Taeyang Will Guest Star In CL's First Solo MV

2NE1 CL's solo album debut is fast approaching, and I've got some fun news about that. Seems as if her label mates and bffs GD and YB will be helping her out with her mv for her upcoming single. How fun is that?

Last week, GD & YB flooded Instagram and Twitter with pics of themselves hanging out and looking fly while shooting on the set of a mysterious project:

As for CL, she's been busy getting ready for her album promotions, and she posted this pic today just to remind us:

Kpop Flashback: SHINee's "Replay" Through the Years

The other day I wrote a post about how SHINee performed "Replay", sans Jonghyun, on KBS's 700th Episode special and, well... sucked. I thought that if we watched other performances of "Replay", it would cleanse our brains of that sad spectacle and help us move on to bigger and better things, namely Jonghyun's return and their upcoming Japanese release.

First we'll start with SHINee's debut stage, which took place on May 25th, 2008. As you watch this, keep in mind that these are teen boys singing and dancing live for the first time on tv.

Doesn't Onew look like he's been doing it forever?

I'd say this was pretty damned impressive. In fact, as I contrast it with some idol groups that have debuted in the past few years, I feel as if those groups have fallen far short of this mark. Beaten by 14-16 yr olds... tsk.

Fyi, Minho was filming "Dream Team" while the others were working on this show.

I find it interesting to watch Jonghyun struggle with containing his huge voice so that it blends with the group. I think he's gotten better at that in the past year or two.

I know they were lip syncing, but this is such a cute performance from their first concert tour.

Someone made a comment on Tumblr the other day that SHINee is too old to be doing this song anymore and I kind of agree with her. Whenever I've seen them do this song in recent times, I feel as if they look so jaded and bored. They've sung it hundreds of times and they're so over it. She also said "Replay" is a song that should be sung by teenage boys... Agreed.

The following is the last time I saw them manage to look excited to be performing this song. This was also one of the last few times in which they hit all the choreography points really hard like they used to back in the day:

Sidebar: What's up with Onew's eyebrows here? If I remember correctly, this is the period when Stormy and I were convinced that Onew had done something wrong and they were punishing him by giving him crazy brows and unflattering hairstyles.

Case in point, watch them at their Japanese Debut Premium Reception in 2012. I hated this concept because it was like a high color cartoonized version of them in 2008, except they weren't 15 anymore. Most of them were in their 20s and not too happy with being made to dress like that. In fact, while doing those promotions, Onew mentioned more than once that he wished they were able to dress more maturely.

I don't blame him, especially since he was the one that had to have a little boy's hair cut and big, curly shoe laces (continuing the trend from my sidebar). Have you ever noticed that Minho almost always manages to look good, and yet... Wait. That's a topic for a whole other post.

Hopefully, after last week's debacle, SM Ent will give the boys a break from this song and let them continue to mature into shining men. I don't want to think of what it will be like if they're forced to perform "Replay" at age 28.

That Silly Little Sitcom "We Got Married" Starring SHINee's Taemin PART 2 Extreme Style! Spoiler Alert

I was really Really REALLY mad watching the 130519 episode of We Got Married. To the extreme! YES, Yes, yes I KNOW it's scripted; still nothing stops our magnificent maknae from speaking his mind! We all know him well enough to see that many of his reactions are the real thing. He never could hide his real feelings.

Having to watch Taemin's face when he heard someone in the crowd call Na Eun a slut was truly and utterly painful. My worst fears realized. I'm not gonna rant here, though I could. No instead I choose to look at the positives. Like how cute was Taemin sticking his cell phone out the window of the van leaving today?

Look at him showing it off! Kinda like fu*k ya all! I'ma toss this in your face and you're gonna like it! Extreme Taemin strikes again!

When I saw him talking about being part of the Single Troop and saying he didn't like couple items because he was jealous I yelled "Good for you Taeminnie-ah! I'm so glad you're doing WGM! You get to experience something normal for once!"

How cute were they talking about hanging out at the playground 'til 6th grade? All I could think of then was, "Well Taemin, after the 6th grade you joined SME and your normal life was pretty much over by then."

He never really got to experience the normal relationship interactions. I know... I know there have been rumors, including the most recent one about him dating a non-celeb which may indeed have been true, but apparently nothing lasted. Was that because of the Idol Life? Perhaps. More likely it was due to extreme inexperience. At any rate, Taemin seems to be forming definite ideas about what he wants and how he wants to do it.

Taemin is approaching this role like he does sports, like he pretty much does everything, Extreme Style!

Ottoke Taeminnie-ah???? What are we gonna do with you!?

SHINee Struggles With "Replay" On Music Bank's 700th Anniversary Special

SHINee was on KBS's Music Bank today for the show's 700th Anniversary Special. The boys performed a special stage of their forever classic "Replay", along with "Why So Serious?" and if you haven't at least watched the "Replay" stage, you should. Take a look:

Oh my babies (Yes I call SHINee my babies sometimes, but that's ok; don't judge me)... I have something to say and I'm just going to say it: I thought that performance of "Replay" was... not good. If ever there's a song that is so full of Jonghyun's vioce as to render it un-singable by anyone else, that would be "Replay".

I thought Key was out of tune when he was trying to doJjong's parts. I thought Onew couldn't handle Jonghyun's high notes at all. Minho was Minho and Taemin was alright (not every song needs vibrato, Taemin) but you could tell he was struggling. In fact they were all struggling and it showed big time. I felt bad for them, to be honest. Even the parts where they let the backing track do the work for them were awkward. I really wish the Music Bank audio people would've made the backing track louder so that it wouldn't have been as obvious that they were having issues.

I also think that the choreography looks weird without Jonghyun. Maybe it's because I'm so used to Jjong being there... who knows.

Now, before anyone goes off on me in the comments, I want to say that if you have looked at more than one page of this blog, it would be pretty obvious that I am a HUGE fan of SHINee. If you scroll down to my tags area, you will notice that I have blogged about them 211 times. That's a lot. I feel it's only fair that if I'm going to squee and fangirl over them so many times, I also have to include the negative when there is any to be found. That being said, I don't remember another time when I have mentioned that I really disliked one of their performances. Well... that day has come.

What I did like is that they wore cute but simple outfits that are more grown up versions of their "Replay" mv outfits. Good choice, cordi noonas. I also think they redeemed themselves with their performance of "Why So Serious?".

I'll just end this here by saying that I'll be happy when Jonghyun comes back, because he is an integral part of SHINee and they need him to complete the group. They've all said the same thing multiple times and I don't blame them.

Oh wait, one last thing: Can someone make them eat before they fade away to nothing, or Minho's pants just slide right off him mid dance step? They're starting to look gaunt and it's kinda scary.

More Info On SHINee's Japanese Album "Boys Meet U"

More information is out about SHINee's 2nd full Japanese album. As you know, it will be called "Boys Meet U" but I know what everyone is wondering. Will it just be a whole bunch of Japanese remakes or re-releases of their previous Japanese songs? Read on to find out a bit more...

SHINee World J, their official Japanese fansite, posted the following on their site yesterday:

It has been decided that SHINee’s 2nd Original Japan Album ‘Boys Meet U’ will be released on June, 26! It is certainly a long waited album release after 1 year and a half since the launch of their first album in Dec 2011!

2NE1's CL Is Going Solo For A Bit, What Do You Think?

The big YG Entertainment reveal has been made and the huge surprise seems to be that CL is coming out with a solo album. Cue celebratory music for CL and a game show buzzer sound for 2NE1. I'm shocked, because as some of you might remember, CL was talking about this in February and mentioned that she would be coming out with her solo album after 2NE1 was done with their own promotions. As you can tell, we've been trolled but whatever... This is just as exciting. Read on for more info.

At first, speculation was that CL would only be releasing a single but it seems as if she could be releasing a full album. A YG rep stated:

“It will be an album that is driven by the sexy and energetic image that CL already has. ‘Music that can be shown’ that matches the feel of the beginning of summer has been prepared. Not only will the sound be exceptional, she will again, showcase a new fashion style and a sexy concept that is unprecedented, which will be showcased through iconic performances.”

“If Park Bom has previously showcased music to be heard with her vocal abilities as the weapon, CL will be offering music that can be both seen and heard. Do have a different expectation to this stylish album.”

"This first CL solo song won’t be a pre-release track for a short-term project but [CL's] title track for her regular promotion”

Sounds awesome! It seems as if they're saying here that she'll be releasing an album, but that remains to be seen. I'm dying to know if the first track will be rap, RnB or electronica or maybe even a mix of all three. CL has the ability to do so many genres so this song (and/or album) could very well be something incredible.

Will CL come out all fierce or will she do the pretty-girly thing? Pfft... We know she's gonna go for fierce.

You realize that CL will be going up against female powerhouses like Lee Hyori and Seo In Young during her promotional period right? :Rubs hands together: This diva face off should be hot as hell.

The single and mv will be out on May 28th (only a few weeks away... what??), followed by full scale promotions on music shows, which will start the week after.

UPDATED: Things I Never Thought Would Happen #100: EXO Is Ready To Comeback!

It has just been announced that SM Entertainment's wannabe supergroup EXO is finally making a comeback. This will be their first full length album, which will be called "XOXO (Kiss & Hug)".

I do like how they included both EXO-M and EXO-K in the teasers. As you can imagine, right now tons of fangirls all over the world are doing this:

This title and the teaser images seem to be a marked difference from their usual post apocalyptic trendy boy image, so it should be interesting to see what they have in store for us. Many fans are dying to hear longer versions of the songs they've teased us with in the past, like "My Lady" and "Baby Don't Cry", so hopefully those will be included on the album.

Kpop WTF: Leave SHINee's Jonghyun Alone

As mentioned in my previous post, SHINee has announced plans to release their 2nd Japanese album, which is called "Boys Meet U". In related news, Jonghyun has been spotted coming in and out of the SM Entertainment building quite a bit recently:

Yes. Jonghyun's hair is now platinum blonde. I'll give you a moment to squee and/or frown about that...

Ok done. I'll just add that I was never a big fan of Jonghyun's "Ring Ding Dong" blonde phase, but at least it's actually blonde and not yellow this time.

But I digress. The good thing about all this news is that this means Jjong is gearing up to return to SHINee. All together now, "Yayyy!" The bad thing is that Jonghyun is reportedly still in the process of healing. Shawols that have recently seen him say his left eye is still red, and Minho was heard on a radio show not long ago saying that his leg is still messed up. Fans are also reporting that today on Cultwo Radio Show, Minho discussed how Jjong is having a hard time with his voice.

Guess what time these pics and videos were taken? You're thinking it's nighttime, just like I did, right? Nope! It was the early hours of the morning. Yes that's right. Fans were standing outside of the SM building at the crack of dawn. Shaking my head SO damned hard right now. Don't they have school to attend or a job to go to? Jeezus.

Also, notice all these pics and videos of him, even though he said not to take them? Siggghhhh...

Now let's get one thing straight. We all know that Jjong is a conceited troll who loves to be seen and to have his pic taken. You remember watching him walk the streets of Japan on "SHINee's Wonderful Day", acting as if he didn't realize people would recognize him.

Suuuurrre, Jjong... noone will recognize you.

Another time was in 2011 when he got hurt and was on hiatus from the group. The only way we knew that he was ready to come back was because he decided to take a stroll on the streets of Seoul for his birthday. Of course he attracted a mini crowd of squealing fans who managed to get fancams of him just walking and smiling for a good 10 minutes. No veering to go into a store, no going into restaurants.... just walking and smiling. Eventually he got into a car and left. At the time I thought (and still think) that he just did that to be seen.

See what I mean? Jonghyun gives no f*cks.

My point is this: if Jjong wanted you to see him, he'd let you know it in no uncertain terms. He would beckon for you to come take pics with him and lavish you with his cheeky grin. He might even give you a hug or a handshake.

How about instead of stalking him you give him some space? How about you let the guy breathe for a minute, let him air out his eye, nose, leg and whatever other injuries he sustained in the car crash?

I mean, do we REALLY need another SHINee album and tour right this minute? Can we wait a bit? I'm thinking Jonghyun and the others need a break that's longer than 3 days, don't you? Let's let them get rested and refreshed so they can come back hard like we know they can.

All I know is that I want this Jjong back, not a strained voice/limping version.:

And for God's sake, leave Jonghyun alone when you see him on the street. I think he deserves that respect and you, as a Shawol, should too.

SHINee Reveals Plans For A New Japanese Album

Well hello readers... I'm back! I was away for 4 days on a trip so I didn't get to post anything on here. No laptop + away fun = no blogging for me. That's ok though, because I have lots of stuff to blog about. This is one of them:

SHINee is going to be releasing their 2nd full length Japanese album on June 26th. That's right. Surprise!

I'll admit I knew nothing about this. All I knew was that SHINee would be touring Japan in June, which then got pushed back to July because of Jonghyun's accident (I'm extremely glad that they postponed concert. I guess SM Entertainment realized that most Shawols prefer SHINee with all of the members present and accounted for). Next thing you know, they're announcing new albums and stuff. I'm all, "Wth??" + excited at the same time, but I'm certainly not complaining.

Not much is known about the new album except that it's called "Boys Meet U", that "Sherlock", "Dazzling Girl", "1000 Years, Always By Your Side" and "Fire" will be included and that there will be a total of 12 songs. Hey SM Ent? You're doing a great job prying more cash out of our fingers there... Keep up the good work.

Yesterday 2NE1 released new teasers for their as yet unannounced project, 2NE1 Loves. Actually, who knows what the name of the project is? They haven't announced it yet. The teasers were Minzy and Park Bom's:

As I mentioned the other day, these teasers could very well be endorsements for a store called MyBoon. YG Entertainment chimed in about these videos on their me2day account:

Let Me Introduce You To: IAMMEDIC

I was just sitting here listening to a relatively unknown band that I've been into for the past few years and musing over how good they are. I started to think about how I could get more people acquainted with their music and then I realized: Well duh... I have a blog. So let me introduce you to IAMMEDIC.

Don't worry, this post isn't all that unrelated to Kpop. IAMMEDIC is a South Korean/American band who describe their music as "electro glitch pop". Consider them an indie version of your Kpop faves; in fact they're friends with YG protégé Lydia Paek, the Kpop group AZIATIX:

The list goes on.

You might have heard of them, actually. IAMMEDIC opened for Brian Joo when he performed in 2010 in Los Angeles, and would have opened for JYJ in New York that same year if JYJ had been able to get their visas. Danny Park is known for being the dj on Mnet America's Danny From L.A., and DJ Yup is a well known dj that brings in crowds throughout Seoul and the U.S. You can read even more about the band by clicking here.

First things first, though... Let's get you listening to some of their music. The following are some of my fave songs by this awesome band:

IAMMEDIC'S songs seem so light and fun at first listen but there's quite a bit of darkness behind them, as you can see in their most recent mv below. Apparently there's a real life story behind it, as there is for all the songs that Enik writes.

Hopefully this post inspires you to listen to more of IAMMEDIC's music and learn more about them. If you're interested you should definitely check out their Facebook page. [Guest Post] Stormy Asks: Has SHINee Peaked? Let's Play "Can SHINee Top This?"

I've got Stormy of MyMusicRadar! here with another Another Odd Opinion piece, because this lady is so opinionated. This time she's talking about SHINee and wondering what's going on with them.... You'll see what I mean if you read on.

I'm a little worried.... I know I know, you all probably see me as the bitchy, "oh what can I find wrong now" article writer, and sometimes I am. I've evolved; I was not always this way. When I first started my writing career I was always positive and tended to be semi-delusional, especially about my loves. I was always honest. I still am.

I love SHINee, all of SHINee, please don't ever forget that.

A little something has been worrying me way back in my brain since SHINee's comeback with 'Why So Serious?' Has SHINee peaked?

Lets go back to Lucifer. Lucifer was really the beginning of big changes for SHINee. Jonghyun's long note in Lucifer was killer. Fans timed it out to almost 20 seconds in some live performances. Killer. The choreo? Also killer. Onew in particular complained a lot about Lucifer's choreography.

Lucifer won multiple awards for SHINee, including 2 on Mubank and twice on Inkigayo as well as a GDA for 2010 and a Bonsang for 2011 (nominated for best choreo JVMA 2012).

How to top that? Sherlock. Let's combine TWO songs and get Tony Testa to do the choreography. Who does this?!!! SHINee did this. Oh that high stepping dance! SHINee almost collapsed on stage from the dance alone. Still they managed to not only perform it flawlessly, they also performed it LIVE! Sherlock won 2012 Best Male Dance at the MAMA's, a 2013 GDA Bonsang and 8 Music Show awards. There was no stopping SHINee! Can they top this?

Exhausted from Japan promos, SHINee comes back with 'Chapter 1 Dream Girl' So this time Tony Testa decides to add props to SHINee's choreography. Wait WHUT? Add microphone stands to the dance? YES, Yes, yes, Mr. Testa went there. The results? 10 Music Show Awards and an ALL Kill. Phenomenal! Who can beat them now?

This, my friends and fans, brings us to today and why I'm so worried right here, right now.

There has been lots of complaints about 'Why So Serious?' starting with Jonghyun not participating due to his car accident, to 'Why So Serious?' just being a lousy song. Lousy? From SHINee???? Really really? This opinion came from both K-netizens & I-netizens btw.

SHINee has been promoting this song for several weeks now and....not one music show win. NOT ONE!!!! How could this be true???? What the hell goes on here?

First off, there were changes in the voting process having to do with the sales both digital and physical. It actually has done quite well in digital sales. Then there is the live vote. Who's been winning? One word... Psy. He h as been winning everything with 'Gentleman'.

'Why So Serious?' did manage to top the Billboard World Music Charts. Quite impressive really! Was it the change in choreographer to Devin Jamieson? I don't think so. The choreography is still world class in my book.

My only complaint here? Since when does a SHINee member get a pass on doing tough choreo?

Onew did state that the man-split caused him some back pain and with Jonghyun already out, they really don't need to lose another member. Things are tough enough right now for SHINee. Is it Taemin's participation in WGM? Some fans did threaten to leave the fandom because of it, but I highly doubt enough left to make any real difference.

Did they comeback too fast with Chapter 2?

Hence my worry. It's been a long time since SHINee has promoted without winning something! Maybe I'm spoiled. Maybe I just expect SHINee to perform on music shows and to win. Maybe I'm being all delulu again.

BTW 4Minute won today.....without Hyuna....

Then there is the dreaded 5 year curse.

SHINee celebrates their 5 year anniversary on May 28th of this month......

So has SHINee peaked? Have they outdone themselves? Have they set the bar so high its difficult to top themselves now? I sure hope not. I guess I still have more questions than answers. One thing I know for sure: I adore my SHINee boys! Every last quirky, nerdy, fabulous one of them, and I fully expect to continue to see them out doing themselves for years to come.

Another Teaser For 2NE1's Unidentified Project Featuring Dara Is Out!

The mystery continues as the new 2NE1 Loves teaser is released! Watch Dara fling her flowy scarf around and look beautiful to the tune of their song "I'm Busy" from the "TO ANYONE" album.

I love it when they allow Dara to look like a grown woman.

Word on the street is all this hoopla could be for a cf, since the teaser was released by staff of the MyBoon store. These teasers are also nowhere to be found on YG Entertainment's offical site but the following teaser was uploaded to said site yesterday:

Yep! Someone is making a comeback and it could very well be 2NE1 because I have a feeling Taeyang's album is nowhere close to being done. That's just my feeling though; I could very well be wrong (and wouldn't that be nice too!).

Video of the Day: Lee Hyori's "Miss Korea"

On May 5th the Queen of Kpop, Miss Lee Hyori, staged an aptly titled "comeback" with a new preview single off of her upcoming album. After being away from the music scene for three whole years, Hyori has managed to surprise and delight me with this fantastic black and white mv for her new song "Miss Korea".

Miss Hyori is giving me a little bit of "Single Ladies" mixed with The Supremes in this mv, and it works. Also, drag queens!

Loving it!

I applaud her for not conforming to the Dubstep Mafia, which has been running the Kpop show for awhile now. Don't get me wrong, I love a good dubstep tune but it's nice to hear something fresh and new, even when it comes in the guise of this nouveau-retro sound and look.

It's also nice to see this 33 year old woman take it upon herself to show the people of her country that over 30 is fabulous too. Did you notice all the scalpels and drills pointing at her face in the mv?

This song is about being confident in your womanhood and not conforming to unrealistic beauty standards.

2NE1's CL Releases A Fierce Teaser... Comeback Perhaps?

Just a few minutes ago a teaser featuring 2NE1's CL was released and the internet is awash in speculation... Is a comeback in the works?

This would be the first teaser that's been seen for 2NE1 since July of last year, when the girls released their hit song, "I Love You". 2NE1 fans everyone are wondering whether this video is for the supposed upcoming full album that YG Entertainment has been trolling us with for the past year.

The speculation stems from this image of the girls that you can see at the end of the teaser.:

I'm definitely rooting for them and hoping this means what I think it means. Oversized spikes, bustiers, swords, black and white... What else could one hope for in a 2NE1 teaser?

If they end up releasing this song I do hope it sounds less like a hybrid between "I Am The Best", "I Love You" and their collabs with will.i.am than it currently does. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best!

SHINee's Weekend In Review: MCs, Music Shows And Fansigns, Oh My

SHINee continued on with their music show appearances this weekend and even though they haven't won anything for "Why So Serious?" yet, we're still rooting for them to do so. Let's see what else they were up to, shall we?

May 3rd:

1. The boys worked it out on Music Bank in their white and red, and even sang live.

Minho was one of the MCs on the show that day, where he got a chance to interview legendary singer and guitarist Cho Yong Pil. Watch Minho squee and fanboy over CYP below:

You could tell he was extremely honored to meet this talented sunbaenim. Great job Minho.

2. The next stop for the day was at Jang Kiha's Amazing Radio, which you can watch in it's entirety by clicking that link and scrolling down.

3. SHINee then decided to take a break... Yeah, right! They had a fansign to attend to at the Interpark Art Center.

A fan wished Key and his grandmother will always stay healthy and he thanked her happily.

When I was getting Minho’s signature, the camera uncle told Key, “Key goon, please say some words to Jonghyun goon who isn’t here today”. Key unhappily pointed to the picture at the back and replied, “The group in the picture is complete but how can it be that this person did not come, please get well and come back soon.

After signing, Jinki said that he signed very slowly. Fans shouted that no, he was too fast, and should be given 5 minutes. Jinki replied that he thinks that he really signs very slowly and Taemin said that he tried his best to sign as fast as possible. “Because Onew hyung is too slow, the fans were stuck at my place” (Taemin’s queue had more than 3 people)
Minho asked us what other songs we like besides WSS and everyone was shouting “Minho” and all sorts of song titles. As it was very messy, Minho asked “Are you all speaking Korean?”

May 4th:

1. First up was Music Core. SHINee's stylists continued on with the whole '80s New Wave theme, which I love to pieces. All those bright colors really popped off the screen, didn't they? Did you notice Minho's shoe and sock combo right at the beginning? How about Key's embroidered KTZs? Sigh... I love these boys. Take a look:

2. After Music Core, the guys headed on over to their 2nd fansign of the weekend, which took place at Gwanghwamun Square. This would be the first event that Taemin was conspicuously missing from. So far I've only seen a few LQ pics from that event, but you can see them by clicking here.

3. Also that day, Minho took part in a photoshoot for his endorsement brand Our Home Rice Pasta.

If you haven't seen his commercials yet, well... you need to:

You know that if I lived in Korea, I'd have had to run right out to buy that pasta after watching this, right?

4. Taemin's "We Got Married" episode 2 was released.

May 5th:

1. SBS Inkigayo's '80s rocker themed performance was one of their best ones yet. Was that band actually playing in the background? It kind of sounded like it.

I like how they were each a different type of rocker. Taemin was the Bon Jovi-esque hair band member (take a gander at his bondage pants and head band), Key was the Sex Pistols-ish punk version, Onew reminded me of Billy Idol and Minho was all done up to look like a member of a ska band circa 1982. SHINee's stylists seriously need a standing ovation for most of their "Why So Serious?" outfits. They are on point.

2. The guys headed on over to the Cheongryang-ri Lotte department store for yet another fansign. By then they were looking extremely exhausted, as you can imagine.

By the way, I love the gorgeous fansite pics that get passed around and ooh-ed and aww-ed over but I dislike the fact that they airbrush them. Why? Because we tend to get a false sense of how "perfect" these (or any) idols look, or we end up thinking they look fine when they're not. For example, here's an airbrushed pic of Key from the fansign:

Exactly. I always end up feeling so bad for these poor guys as they run around like chickens with their heads cut off. At least they don't have quite as many activities as they had during their "Dream Girl" promotional cycle.

Today Minho and Key of SHINee attended the grand opening of a new flagship department store in Seoul called H:Connect. Apparently it was a big deal, as other Kpop and K-drama stars also ~~were paid to~~ decided to attend the shindig. The guys were looking quite fresh in their H:Connect brand spring duds, with Minho rocking his ever-present breton stripe preppy look. Key also managed to pull together one of his ultra trendy outfits with these basic pieces. It's all in how you wear it.

Why anyone would want these clothes with that huge (not cute) label on it is beyond me but to each his own, I guess.
