LIFE LATELY

Hello, hello, hello everyone! Were you beginning to think I forgot about you. Truth is, so much happiness has recently occurred in my personal life that it's become my main focus. I'm taking everyday to soak up all the joy and smiles I'm surrounded by, not leaving a lot of computer time. I snapped the photo above this morning of my dog laying against my belly. She's doing a lot of this lately...sort of thinking she knows there's a little one in there. This photo is just a snippet of the moments that melt my heart in the recent months. My bump continues to grow and I've hit milestones like feeling the first kick and discovering my "little bundle" is actually a little girl. My husband and I are over the moon. =)

I want to thank you all for your patience and emails while on a little break. I'm here, doing well and promise NOT to have an absence of this length again. Posting will be lighter, 3-4 days a week, but I'm excited to interact will you all again. Thanks so much for being here and I look forward to more time on OMS. Have a beautiful Thursday!

With Easter weekend on the horizon, I already have a busy, busy weekend ahead of me. Today I'm doing a little pre-Easter shopping with my mom and sister while tomorrow we're heading to the BROADWAY MARKET to buy our traditional Polish sausage and dinner rolls. Easter dinner is my fave. No matter your plans for the weekend, I hope you find yourself mixed with great company and spring weather! Happy weekend!

WHEN TULIPS WILT

DIY SPRING EMBROIDERY DISPLAY

As promised, I pulled together a spring DIY for you on this Tuesday. It's funny how diy projects come to me. This one was a total accident due to a spontaneous shopping trip. While at Michael's craft store, I was hunting down embroidery hoops (I'd like to start a few embroidery projects) when I walked passed mounds of artificial flowers. Then it hit me, just like that! Why not combined the two? Perfect this time of year!

This diy uses few materials and is completely verstile. I promise anyone can make this and its pretty self explanatory.

Begin by cutting a piece of floral foam about 3/4 - 1 inch smaller than the embroidery hoop. This will allow room to stuff the moss between the foam and hoop. If you are using fresh flowers, soak the foam in water. One, the water will keep the flowers alive, and two, the moisture makes it easier to push flower stems into the foam.
Once the foam is no longer dripping wet (give it a bit of time to dry up), place the foam in the center of the hoop and begin adding floral moss between the two. (See in the image below.)
Now the fun part, begin filling the middle with flowers. Any kind of flower will do, it's totally up to you. I used white Stock, which has delicate stem, so I pierced the foam using a pencil making it easier to place the blooms without destroying them. You could use a pin, a wooden skewer or anything you have around the house.

I tied a piece of twine to hang the hoop on my front porch but I think they would make a cute centerpiece or Easter gift as well. If you make one, email me, I'd love to see the flowers you used.

Hello everyone and hello weekend! How are all of you? Any plans for the weekend? I'm thinking I just may have to set aside an hour or two for a small spring DIY to share next week. What to you think? If there's one element I want to add more to OMS, it most definitely are DIY posts. Other than that, I'm forcing myself to bust out my camera, take photos of all the spring blooms around me and stay AWAY from the computer. I'm determined to dig into my creative side and there's no time like the present! Enjoy your weekend and find some creative time for yourself too!

MY "PROJECT" & MY BUMP

Do you remember when I mentioned my new project in THIS JANUARY POST? Well, I can honestly say this is the biggest project I've ever taken on. HUGE! On January 15th, my husband and I received the best surprise to date (eight years to be exact). We're expecting our first baby.

It has NOT been easy keeping it secret from all of you, but now I'm safely out of the first trimester and feel much more comfortable telling the world. Although my pregnancy has treated me well so far, my biggest complaint was the constant exhaustion I felt. Seriously, never in my life was my body as tired as the last three months. So as you can tell, with my extra sleeping habits came a lack of blog posting. I'm sorry to leave you all in the dark but thrilled to finally share my news!

I want to sincerely thank you all for your support in my absence. I have some of the sweetest readers and I can't wait to brainstorm new ideas to share as a BIG THANK YOU for your patience and kindness. I really appreciate every comment, email and kind word spoken to me. You are the best and I'm excited to share bits of my adventure along with all the other goodness of OMS. THANK YOU!

With an unseasonably warm 40 degrees today and 60 degrees tomorrow, I can't help but cross my fingers spring's arrival is here to stay. However, I know for certain it's a slight tease for New Yorkers...a small reminder of what's to come once March passes by. While I get to bask in sunshine for the next two days, I'll also daydream of spring dresses and strappy sandals. Ahhh, I can't wait for spring.

Well, hello everyone! Happy March! I'm back from a month long hiatus visiting family and soaking up the sunshine in Florida. Sure beats the winter whites in NY. Hello everyone! I'm popping in quickly to say hi, and yes, I'm still here. =) My vacation started last week and will continue until February 27th...I'm lovin' the sunshine! Well hello there! I've missed you all! Last week I mentioned I've been handed a curve ball hence the lack of posting the past few days. I can't talk much about it at the moment but I hope to very soon. In the mean time I'm trying my best to blog every day but you may notice a cut back to four days a week. It won't be for very long (maybe a month) but I'm putting my energy and focus on another project I'm so excited about I could squeal! Thanks for baring with me! As for the next two weeks, I'm spending some time in Florida for a family wedding so expect the quietest of times during the month of February. Actually, this little trip couldn't come at a better time...my brain could use some rest and rejuvenation. =)

Last Christmas my thoughtful sister gifted me my very first Diana camera...the super cute BLUEBERRY ONE. It definitely took some getting use to (a couple rolls of trial and error) but once you get the hang of it, it's so worth it. This year I'm making it my priority to bust it out a bit more and play around with double exposure. I'm a sucker for double exposure and these images by .VON. are the exact reason why. Simply stunning.

How are you doing on this Tuesday? I've had a mix of good and bad news for OMS over the past couple days. First, I was 110% completely shocked to be listed as an UP & COMING BLOG at Alt this year. I received the news from a sweet blog friend, PATRICIA, last Friday evening making my weekend feel like I was on cloud nine. You can see the complete list HERE and be sure to check out the other blogs mentioned...lots of goodies! My bad news which isn't that horrible (but still a pain in the tush) is that PICNIK is closing it's doors in April. What!?!? For those of you who do not know, I use Picnik for everything on my blog. I'm one of the least tech savvy people you will meet and I've relied on Picnik to simplify so much for me. I have no idea what I will do come April so if anyone has any suggestions for me, I would love to hear them. I may just have to break down and learn Photoshop...finding the time is my only issue. grrrr. Until tomorrow, enjoy todays collection!
