Cooking with love

2011-11-15T23:35:00.001+08:00

I'm cooking prawn fried rice for dinner tomorrow! I prepared / chopped / julienned the ingredients so when I finish work, all I have to do is bring out the raw material from the fridge. ^_____^

Prawn
Red cabbage
French beans
Eggs
Canned tuna in water
Garlic
Onion
Brown rice (left overnight in the fridge)
Lots of love for myself (cheers for choosing to cook healthy food!!!)

I thought of adding carrot (not my favorite) and/or pineapple but I'm scared if it is going to be like... too many flavor in a palate? Maybe pineapple (always goes well with prawn kan?). Will get a nenas then!

Anyway, the neighbor's daugther is crying again. Sometimes I like to think that there is a orang kerdil family living in the wall, so that what's I heard is actually the orang kerdil's daugther cries. Hmm...

Love you boys! Including LouLou, of course! <3

Here my LouLou boy, enjoying his sunbathing session!

Not only he refused to read the book (Amy Tan's Joy Luck Club),

he even barred the sofa from everyone else!

Mommy, I think I will read the paper after I'm done chewing this.

Escaping the two lazy boys & taking a walk to a temple..

P.S. I can't believe we are almost at the end of Year 2011! On a different note, I have loads of photos (of the boys) which I have yet to post. Actually, I am trying to distract myself from being mad at an idiot who parks his/her car in front of my house. But then again, I am not going out so... yeah, just leave it. Still, I don't understand why some people would do thing that is convenient for them without even thinking about others. Something wrong with the way dia punya moyang ajar dia. Mimang kurang ajar ba orang < tut >!!!

Laid-back Lou

Clockwise from top: Brown rice, pan fried fish, Spanish omelette, telu baka & spinach soup for dinner =)

Spinach Soup - after stirring the cream - I see fat chicken!

Big, big eyes!

How old are you?

2011-10-06T17:23:00.001+08:00

Shorty is a 4 years old dog (in human years: a 29 years old lengchai).

LouLou is a 3 years old cat (in human years: a 29 years old lengchai, too!!!).

Sprinkled! is 4.25 years old (dog years) or 3.3 years old (cat years).

Sprinkled! is a young mommy!

;)

You do the math!

You're my star!

New pair of earring ^_____^

:-D
My new pair of earring looks similar to bunga seri pagi right? Heehee! Only one flower right now, hoping it will grow plenty of bunga-bunga.

Rainy. Sunny.

There is kalamansi tree on the most left. No more fruit because I have plucked it for my teh limau panas. Then then dunno-what-name palm-type plant. Then the ciku which is berbuah now. My landlady and I talked about disinfecting it - the branches grow some whitish mold, we are not sure what it is. Before that, I sms-ed her "I nearly chopped off the branches because I thought the brown things are the dead leaves; turn out it is the fruit.", prompting her to drop by to check it out since this is her first cikus! Heehee! Next to ciku is a flower and another palm tree - species unknown to me.

Honestly, I don't like ciku. But it is fun trimming it, caring it and yes! I am waiting for wrapping the fruit session!

I love my coffee and regardless how many times my mom reminds me that I should reduce the consumption, I am still drinking it like a fish especially when I am not occupied with anything!

Recently someone’s relative was admitted to the hospital because there was something wrong with her glucose level. That did not alarm me; but the fact that she is very much a heavy coffee drinker (like me!) makes me think. The doctor told her that the caffeine could have contributed to the irregular glucose.

At first I snickered at the idea of linking coffee with diabetes. No way! I protested and suggested that it could be too much of sugar in the drinks. Well, I am taking sugarless coffee (for almost a year) and I thought I am protecting myself from the risk of diabetes. Not so. I referred to few studies on coffee and diabetes (see the links below). I am surprised!

Ooh well, I believe I still can enjoy my coffee (act of self-defense) – if I am taking it moderately.

Counting sheep

2011-09-09T00:20:00.002+08:00

I don't know why my sleeping pattern becomes erratic these days! >.<

I was asleep by 9.00pm last night (my hair was still very wet at that time & I refused to blow dry it even though I know I might end up with headache the next morning! Curse myself: real stubborn cow!!!). Woke up at 2.00am & realized "ooh! my room is too bright!" then switch off the lights before I dozed off again. But only to wake up again at 4something & 6something. Too much distraction!!!

And now... man... I seldom catch the midnight news but I am now watching it while composing this. I was expecting I will get super sleepy after drinking hot milk at 10. I want to make hot choc drinks but I am still full (the milk!).

Sheep, sheep, sheep.

One. Black sheep.

Two. White sheep.

Three. Pink sheep. After kena cukur la!

Four. White-Black sheep. More black.

Five. Black-White sheep. More white.

Six. Black & White sheep. Color distribution almost equal.

Seven. Pink White sheep. Kerja-kerja mencukur belum disiapkan.

Eight. Pink Black sheep. Same as #7 - shaving is not completed yet.

Aiihhhh... Still, I am. Wide awake!!!

Kuih Bulan / Mooncake / 月饼

< white flag >
My sister wants me to write something in Dusun / Lunbawang language. I can't even construct a full sentence. Failed miserably.
< / white flag >

Anyway, I received 2 mooncakes at work yesterday - a single yolk & a double yolk pure lotus. If I had known I will get not just one but 2(!!!), I would not buy one for myself last week. But I should not be complaining about it because I bought a double yolk pure lotus at RM11.20 after a 30% discount. Bleghhh!!! I feel like I am becoming more like auntie-auntie because I always look for cheap bargain, even if I have to wait. But we girls have to be smart right? ^_____^

< sigh >
Why the week is moving very slow? It is only Wednesday...

The backstreet girl

2011-09-01T17:48:00.000+08:00

[Photo] The backstreet girl

As crazy as it sounds, I spent my off day prying for that girl. Yesterday, I saw her eating the food I left for her at the back but forgot to take camera with me. I have never noticed her in the neighborhood before since she barely ventures into the front lane anyway. Shorty & Xiao Mei’s dogs will bark like mad dogs, which will scare her away. She is very skinny that her bones are sticking out, poor girl!

She distrusts me that she would not come near to the food when I am standing nearby. I had to hide behind a slightly ajar door to shoot her. I have not decided what I should call her... Amanda? Cher? Hazel? Jade? Shoba? I think I like Shoba (-:

LouLou the Little Red Riding Hood

2011-08-27T22:44:00.001+08:00

“When I play with my cat, who knows whether she is not amusing herself with me more than I with her.”

~ Michel de Montaigne quotes (French Philosopher and Writer. 1533-1592)

Source

LouLou was sleeping on my bed this morning,

and I was so tempted to wrap him with my blanket.

I am not sure if he looks like one little red riding hood;

or as if he was cocooned at the middle of a red rose.

I showed him this photo, but I guess I enjoyed it more than he did.

Shorty was coughing in the middle of the night.

At first I thought "Ahh.. This boy might just want me to kick him out of the room."

Granted his "wish" but the coughing continued.

Lunch time - still coughing; and I started to get worry.

I took this gross picture for the vet's reference.

I'm inexperienced mommy >.<

Rebellious & refused to get out from under the bed!

He was too occupied with the view - I had no idea what caught his attention!

Diagnosed as having upper respiratory infection.
It can spread to the lower respiratory system - scary!
*sigh* RM90 poorer!

(2 jabs, 1 antibiotic & 1 for the cough)

I want to play, I don't want to eat the medicine!

(I had to boil chicken bones & mix the medicine into the slurpee soup!)

Shorty! Shorty!

Asking me for a hug, the poor boy!

Penelope Trunk wrote about "Blueprint for a Woman's Life";

and a recent article in Psychology Today defines what love is.

Anyway, I was worried (and am still worry!) about Shorty coughing badly last night. Got to check him at home during lunch break. I might need to bring him to see the vet after work.

Shorty, mommy loves you!

If I Die Young by The Band Perry

2011-08-17T21:09:00.000+08:00

This is one of my favorite song when I am driving, soothing the tired soul & mind!

If I Die Young

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Uh oh, uh oh

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh and
Life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I've had, just enough time

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I've had, just enough time

And I'll be wearing white, when I come into your kingdom
I'm as green as the ring on my little, cold finger, I've
Never known the lovin' of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand, there's a
Boy here in town who says he'll love me forever,
Who would have thought forever could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life, well,
I've had, just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls
What I never did is done

A penny for my thoughts, oh no, I'll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Uh oh (uh, oh)
The ballad of a dove (uh, oh)
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket
Save them for a time when you're really gonna need them, oh

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I've had, just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls

Picture perfect Thursday!

The Patrol Dog - off duty & playing in the rain!

Ahh!!! I feel so much better exhausting you & myself by running around the garden!

The Rebel: I don't want to go to bed yet! Let's play again!

Heavily sedated after being hypnotized (not really!)

The Sleeping Beast

Are the bedroom's door open now?

Hmm... Early sleeper gets the nicest soft, warm spot!

Shorty have a lot of energy in him that he needs longer time to calm down and ~~sleep~~ rest. LouLou, on the other hand, could just fall asleep within a few minutes after settling down in his favorite cozy spot on my bed. Ooohhh yeah, he is a mean cat who likes to sleep right there in the middle, leaving me little space on either sides!

Good night!

2011-07-29T20:44:00.000+08:00

I fell into the drain today. After work. I was plucking the hibiscus for my hair spa. I slipped and ended up in the waist-depth, narrow, dry drain.

AND I FEEL SO AWFULLY PAINFUL!

I cannot remember the very last time I accidentally injured myself (not that I have the inclination towards self-mutilation!).

And it was hell trying to undress because my skinny jeans brushed against the bruises. SO PAINFULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was groaning like an injured dog (at least Shorty groans when he's in pain).

And I was thinking about a friend whom recently gave birth. How painful is childbirth? This is just a very minor thing compare to... having one's vagina open up (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

No.

I don't want to talk about childbirth.

I am supposed to write about something to make me forget about the pain.

It is Friday.

Bloody Friday.

Good night!

Good Tuesday

2011-07-19T20:53:00.000+08:00

LouLou: "I'm sunbathing and I'm naked. Sexy, not?"

I am counting my blessing (despite being sucked into the big black hole this morning - what a "nice" way to start someone's day!).

I survived the day. I refuse to bow down to that thing. "that thing" is not a human. No human would show disrespect to the other human. Ooh! And for claiming "I'm from Kehel." Patut laa... Kuala Lumpur. Everything about that thing is berlumpur (muddy)! I rename that thing "Berek Be'che". :-p And I set his ringtone as "a bark dog". Hahaha! Mulau ni! Shiok sendiri pula ba!

I went to Starbucks after work to test the environment since I am having a video call with someone VVIP tomorrow night! Grrr!!! If only the broadband connection at home is good; then I don't have to drive all the way down. But just for this one special, important occasion.

Anyway, I wish I could find my favorite sunspot soon! You see, LouLou have found his favorite spot! Cheers to everyone who is looking or have found their favorite spot!

Hibiscus shampoo

2011-07-04T23:48:00.000+08:00

This is some fun stuff I'm doing in my kitchen after work.

Sort of a relaxing ritual.

And good for the hair too!

Kaffir lime juice - one is enough as I don't want the smell to be over powering.

The hibiscus flowers (5) & leaves (10 - 15).

Pretty isn't it?

The color doesn't look like this in actual - I tried to certain angles but I can't get it!

Newbie kan? Kalau juru gambar profesional lain la...

Hah! It is easy to apply on the top, but I cincai-cincai rub in at the back.

Then I leave it on my head for awhile.

Definition of "awhile":

< start stopwatch >

Feed the boys. Prepare my dinner. Clean the kitchen. Yell at LouLou for making unreasonable demand of more food (he is getting Garfielded!!!). Remove the make up. Wash my face. Apply face mask (another homemade recipe).

< stop stopwatch >

Then wet my hair a little bit & massage the scalp.

Rinse with cold water.

Sprinkled! vs. Shorty

2011-07-03T20:11:00.000+08:00

Thank you, Shorty.

The floor was squeeky clean after one sweeping & three mopping.

No way I could verify that until this boy from the garden right into the room.

Perfect timing.

First, you check the washroom.

Tick.

No mold.

The rubbish bin is empty.

< Panting >

Gosh! I wish I don't have to running up the staircase, he said.

Then he licked the wet floor.

Next, now that he already wet his paws, he is ready to audit my cleaning process.

< Doing a catwalk >

Nice work! I love it! I'll call LouLou so we can (rock n) roll on the floor!

Thank you, my boys!

I am here, July

2011-07-02T23:13:00.001+08:00

Newsweek, yeah, I picked it just because of Diana & Kate. Coffee. Another coffee. Less sweeter than the first mug. Aww.. This serious read is draining me. 3rd coffee. Ooh, let see if I can win anything from Cleo. Gonna stop flipping. Those lipsticks are so yummy, do you think I need a new lipcolor?! I do, I do!!! 4th coffee. Really, stop flipping! 5th coffee. Empress Orchid. What!? Smell the . . . what?! Whoa!

Shorty: "It's alright if you don't want to bring me outside today. I just love chasing you & LouLou in the house as much as running in the garden. But can we go outside tomorrow? I want to see the boy at the house over that bridge."

LouLou: "I have nothing nice to say. Except that I hate roaming outside when you were home late. Ooh, why were you late last night? Why can't you leave the door open so I can go in & out whenever I like? Alright. I need my "me time" now. Ta."

Silence

2011-06-23T16:32:00.002+08:00

Nothing piques my interest these days except for:

Looking for ways to combat these stubborn pimples. I thought I was done with them back then, I mean wayyyyy back when I was younger. Why do they come back now?!
Making soy milk from the scratch. Yes, after someone mentioned that she gains weight from drinking a considerable amount of soy milk. I am interested to be ~~f a t~~ lean. (You, you and you!!! Stop saying that I am not eating! I eat more or less the same with the normal sized human; or even more than those over-sized who are on the crash diet, BOOOOOO!!!)
Blending my own natural shampoo - hibiscus leaves+flowers with kaffir lime juice. It's been a week without a single drop of synthetic shampoo & conditioner on my scalp but my hair doesn't feel/look greasy at all! In fact, I don't feel itchy (on the head la, mana lagi!) or heavy (which I always experience when using leave-in conditioner and serum). You know what is the best thing? The hair is as soft as after applying conditioner; minus the chemicals of course.
