Off Road Rally in Águas da Prata and The Story of the Vigilante Rodoviário

On Sunday November 26 there was an off-road rally here in Águas da Prata.

I didn't participate but we heard them roar by our street in the morning, sirens, horns and engines all revved up. It was raining and they went up the west mountain into the farm, "Fazenda Verde" and beyond. I ran out to take photos but missed them. We could see them going up the mountain from our verandah.

Late in the day we heard them returning, sirens, horns and engines all revved up again. I rushed out with my camera again and once again I missed them. But I went down to the Thermos and there were a bunch parked there.

They must have had a wonderful time because they were all covered in mud!!!!

This guy surely didn't go on the rally but it was his siren we heard. Isn't this a beauty?

Another view of the car. It is very famous. It parks in the Police Station on the Highway. It was an actual Police Car and saw many years of service. The owner is Carlos Miranda, a retired actor and Policeman.

One of these days I will find out more about the Rallys and maybe actually ride in one so I can get some real action photos over the course. After all, a little mud never hurt anyone!

Carlos Miranda, Vigilante Rodoviário

Carlos Miranda was an actor in a series of movies made for TV in 1961. He played the role of a Highway Patrolman (Vigilante Rodoviário) with a Police Dog named Lobo. After the series was completed he was allowed to keep the Lobo and the Police Car, a 1961 Simca Chamborg .

When he left the acting business he went to the police academy and became a real Policeman.

He served in São Paulo and retired in Águas da Prata where he now lives. He parks the car in the Police Station and brings it out for ceremonial occasions such as the Off Road Rally.

Getting together with them, a young artist (Carlos Miranda) coming from the Popular Theater Sesi, was choosen to be the first TV movie hero. The program was a big surprise and was a success all over the country from the first week. This hero was also the first actor to incorporate his role into real life and had his character inserted into the Guiness Book. His career in the Military Police was marked by his colaberation in programs dedicated to the kids like in the Children's Week, TV programs for TV Excelsior and TV Bandeirantes, the first cinema photography laboratory and the first children's magazine. XI Encontro Off-Road de Águas da Prata e um sucesso

Dezenas de jipeiros de várias cidades prestigiam evento

Nos dias 25 e 26 de novembro aconteceu, no Balneário Teotônio Vilela; o XI Encontro Off-Road de Aguas da Prata.

No sábado, 25, as festividades iniciaram-se com um lindo desfile de modas com roupas das lojas Saia Justa e PatyDu, que encantou a todos pela beleza das. garotas, rapazes modelos infantis, bem como pela qualidade das peças apresentadas. Após o desfile acanteceu o Show do Barzinho, uma idéia brilhante de reunir no mesmo palco artistas pratenses que normalmente se apresentam em bares, e que deram um verdadeiro espetáculo musical ao público. Em seguida teve pago-de que durou toda a noite.

No domingo, 26, logo cedo a agitação era grande nas proximidades do Balneário, com os jipeiros se inscrevendo e tomando posição para a largada da trilha. A trilha escolhida foi de uma beleza sensacional, passando por propriedades que nunca haviam sido abertas a visitação e desta vez cederam seus caminhos para deslumbre dos participantes. A chuvinha que persistia ate ao início da tarde garantiu a adrenalina durante o trajeto.

Participaram do evento jipeiros de inúmeras cidades, como Águas da Prata, São João da Boa Vista, São Jose do Rio Pardo, Espírito Santo do Pinhal, Andradas, Santo Antônio do Jardim, Amparo, São Paulo, São Sebastiao da Grama e outras.

Belas paisagens, integração corn a natureza, espírito aventureiro e muito companheirismo foram alguns pontos fortes do encontro.

Realização do Jeep Clube de Águas da Prata, com total apoio da Prefeitura Municipal, o evento foi organizado por Luciana Alves Perinotti, que mais uma vez mostrou sua competência.
