Well Well Well

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 18 Apr 2014 13:38:00 +0000

Let's see if I can get this thing to post after a few years off. I was having horrible issues trying to post text & photos so I gave up.

Happy Birthday Nicholas

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Tue, 22 May 2012 20:01:00 +0000

The boy was so excited to have a party at Chucklecheese's but when we got there, he did a little freak out. He was scared. Luckily it didn't take him long to get over the fear and enjoy the party.

The cake nick helped to make.

Nicholas just noticing the "Nicholas" confetti on the table. It's his name amongst the confetti.

The party king getting his crown from Chuckle.

Time to cut the cake. Yeah.

Almost ready to blow out the candles.

One quick exhale.

Nico watching the rat & friends dance & sing.

Cutting the cake....

and there it is! The rainbow!

Nicholas ate the rainbow & left the tasty frosting for joe.

Nico asked henry to go inside the ticket booth for him, henry gladly went inside.

The boys talking about the ticket booth & the swirling tickets.

Nico showing off his winnings.

Present Time!

Roger's Connections! What the boy has always wanted. Thank You Mrs. B!

Henry sneaking a bite of Marshmallow from the Lego head pops I made.

Nicholas' teacher Mrs. B came for the party. All the kids loved it that she came out to Chucklescheese.

Big breakfasts for the boys at Mom's, they will clean the plate and be hungry in 40 mins.

The boys watching the sets off of Vilano Beach. They can not wait to get out there with their own surfboard.

Joe & I dropped the boys off at school & headed to Busch Gardens for a lovely time of just us.

Nicholas' class went to Lowry Park Zoo, he loved the manatees & the bird sanctuary.

Easter weekend we headed up to Ft. Caroline - Timucuan NPS. It is beautiful & worth the drive up from St. Augustine. We came across this turtle ripping up sprigs of grass & making a heck of a rack doing it. Henry was fascinated by it and how quickly it moved.

Nicholas checking out the Timucuan hut made by a Boys Scout troop, he thought that it was really cool that the Scouts do re-creations for displays. Then he stood there for a bit and said "its a lot cooler inside the hut than outside the hut. In/Out.

LOL both boys were inside checking out the hut structure and the turtle came cruising by. The turtle was was so noisy as it walked through the underbrush, "he sounded like a dinosaur" said Henry. The boys came flying out of the hut giggling & squealing.

The sign outside the visitor center.

After a long walk, Nicholas wanted a piggyback ride, Henry willing offered up his back for the walk back to the car.

The start of the best trail hike all weekend, the Spanish Trail that is across the street from Ft. Caroline. Long boardwalks, gullies, narrow trails all with shady covering. It felt like you were walking thru a plant tunnel.

The boys & their mustaches.

Back home - Nicholas really getting into his skateboard, its one of those balance boards. He rode it up and down the street, I guess he has figured out how to move it with his body & not his foot.

Spring Flig

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Sat, 14 Apr 2012 12:34:00 +0000

The karate school had an evening run & work out at a park. It was hot & humid!

You see what he did!

Rank Test

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Mon, 19 Mar 2012 13:24:00 +0000

Boys had blue stripe test at the end of February, they did great. Lots of self defense moves, kicks & punches.

Nicholas' first karate tournament

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Mon, 27 Feb 2012 13:08:00 +0000

We drove over to Ft. Pierce Friday night for the 8am check in on Saturday. It was utter chaos in the arena. Next time I'm leaving everyone at the hotel, go to check the boy in & get paperwork and come back around 10am.

The schools lined up for opening ceremony (song, bows, announcements, etc).

They were lined up by height, the boy in front of nick is 1 month younger than him. and the boy behind the him (after the girl) is 2 years older than him. These kids make my boys looked like giants.

Somewhat the end of the line, adults & teens out of shot.

Team cheer.

Nico went off to practice his kata and hang out with the other competitors.

Nicholas hamming it for the camera.

Sensei Shelby kicking butt across the arena. She had her opponent on the floor. Go Shelby!

Nicholas' age group called to the staging area. He is the little guy with the orange bag walking away from the camera. He had to carry his stuff & prepare himself without my assistance.

I hit a button on the camera and it turned on b/w..arghh i had to fight the camera to get it back to 'normal'. I missed some of nico's stuff.

Nicholas waiting on the sidelines.

The boy doing some stretches & warm-ups.

Showing yourself to the judges.

Getting some pointers from his sparring coach.

Hajime

Getting a medal.

A judge telling him to step to the middle of the matt, between the boys.

Dentist time

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:50:00 +0000

Henry finally lost the tooth that had been hanging for weeks.

Nicholas had a freak-out when the hygienist brought out the polisher/buffer thingy. He does not like the vibration it makes on his teeth. After a few extra coins & 15 mins, he climbed back into the chair. This picture was after the cleaning & you would never know of the meltdown.

He did it

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:45:00 +0000

Nicholas learned to tie his shoes. He spent a school day working on it, came home and showed me all by himself.

Valentine's Day

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:44:00 +0000

Nicholas and his bag of loot.

Digging through his stuff looking for the best candies.

Henry was not feeling well, you can see it on his face. He did a wonderful job on decorating his candy bag, he was proud.

Abe Lincoln

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:41:00 +0000

Who is the Real Abraham Lincoln?

Nicholas was selected to participate in a historical person program. He had to memorize about 4 pages of lines about Abe Lincoln.

What a cutie.

The three of them were taken all over school to do a short reciting of their lines. Here they are in front of the Principal & VP.

Then a few days later they were invited to be on the morning show that is broadcasted throughout the school.

Nico & the team

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:37:00 +0000

Nico was excited to get his tournament team jacket at the Blackbelt extravaganza.

The team up on stage.

Team cheer, nico is somewhere in the crowd.

Animal Kingdom

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:35:00 +0000

The boys had a friday off so we headed over to Animal Kingdom for the day. It was a beautiful day - sunny & cool.

Watching the monkeys

Begging ducks? Yah, its not working.

Nico loves brushing the goats & sheep.

The boys earned all 6 stamps and received a special conservation book.

Nico fell asleep on the drive home & couldn't find his shoes, Henry played the big brother and gave him a piggy-back ride into the house.

100+ Books Richer

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:31:00 +0000

Nicholas received a certificate & a "dollar" for reading over a 100 RP books (books that he has been tested on & passed).

Science experiment This is an emergency

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:29:00 +0000

I helped Henry's class make borax crystal ornaments for science. Henry was the man in charge. He set up the cups, the borax & water.

As we were mixing the borax, the school decided to hold a Tornado drill. Everyone under the table...its the only thing between you & death.

Henry stating "DO NOT EAT THE BORAX"

Rough Day Ahead

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:23:00 +0000

I walked into the living room to find this ready for school and the zombie apocalypse. He's wearing his sparring helmet & mask.

80's man

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:22:00 +0000

Poor Henry, he was so tired after school that he put on his glasses and took a quick snooze on the way to karate.

Pizza Time

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:21:00 +0000

Henry's scout den had a meeting at Cici's Pizza that included a tour of the place and they each made their own crazy pizza.

Lazer Tag

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Fri, 24 Feb 2012 01:19:00 +0000

The pack had an outing to Q-Zar lazer tag.

Nicholas did not like the arena, it was pitch black with neon effects with lots of smoke & noise.

This is what it looked like, you can see the neon outlines of walls.

Henry loved, loved, loved it. The boy who hates sleeping in the dark & loud noises. Yep. Weird.

Pinewood Derby

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Mon, 09 Jan 2012 17:06:00 +0000

Nicholas' telling me all about campfire building.

Nicholas ready for bed, the boys shared a mattress.

Low 40s at night, the boys were deep inside their sleeping bags. Henry was curled up like a ball at the bottom. Nicholas got hot and took off his jammies.

Henry's car #15 Minecraft design & Nicholas' #14 BSA theme.

Eating lunch.

Waiting for the races to start.

Henry's car middle lane, super fast blur.

Nicholas won Tiger 3rd place.

The boys enjoyed the pinewood derby

Henry congratulating Nicholas.

Raingutter Regatta

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Thu, 15 Dec 2011 21:17:00 +0000

Henry earning the World Conservation Award. I didn't even hear his name being called, so the picture is cruddy.

The inflatable raingutters, new this year & very handy.

Getting ready to start the races, each rank had a table.

Anxious Henry waiting for his turn.

And they are off!

huffhuffpuffpuffhuff...i'm dizzy

Nicholas waiting his turn at the trough.

Nicholas had a melt-down because he had to wait again for another turn.

After the races, the boys could 'race' their boats against anyone or themselves.

The boys were fascinated by the big scouts who were emptying the gutters. Lots of questions.

Nicholas was happy to get his mess kit.

Henry's mess kit, luckily its slightly different then Nicholas'. I'm never without a Sharpie, names were immediately added to the kits.

8th Kyu Test

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Thu, 15 Dec 2011 20:53:00 +0000

The boys tested for 8th Kyu on the 30th of November, Henry was so nervous he was about to cry. Nicholas treated it like any other day, no worries or thoughts about it.

Large class testing together, the senseis were slightly overwhelmed, people kept showing up. They didn't turn them away like I would have, there is a reason why they want the performance sheets turned in 3 days before testing. .

Side kicks and stuff

Nicholas getting ready to show defense moves.

Being attacked from behind defense moves.

Henry's turn.

Breaking away followed by a kick.

Henry falling asleep during the brown belt testing.

Henry asleep. All of the adults were laughing, they too agreed that the testing was going long.

That is a lot of people testing for ranks.

All waiting patiently.

Henry getting his belt and hang shakes/bow all around.

Nicholas' award of orange belt.

The boys with their sensei Sherry and her sensei - her dad - John Ingram - Hachi Dan (8th degree) - who is a student of Master Mitchum.

noreply@blogger.com (Stacey S-O) — Thu, 15 Dec 2011 20:48:00 +0000

Goonie Golf morning at Disney World. We all had fun playing through the characters and only lost two balls - one of nicholas' and one of mine which I hit into the next county.
