My husband recently got me a handsome new desk for my computer and I’m on the verge of becoming anal about keeping it from getting pen marks and scratches.  I want it to look as pretty as it does now for as long as possible.  Given that I spend so much time at my desk and computer, I do an awful lot of living here.  There’s chocolate being devoured, coffee flowing, pens flying, paper crumbling, and a long-haired cat swatting at all of it.  And that’s all before breakfast.

You’re in your office when Mr. Big Shot calls and wants to do lunch. You look in the mirror and your a wrinkled mess. You can tell Mr. B.S. “no” and you don’t have time to go home and change. My personal option would be to drive directly to JC Penney and buy something new, but in our scenario we certainly don’t have time for that.

If we had a Hand Held Clothes Steamer lying in a drawer (or somewhere nearby), we’d be good to go -wrinkle free.

Okay. Hold onto something. Philips is working on an unbelievably cool gadget they’re calling the “Rationalizer”, a device that’s basically a “mirror for your emotions”. It’s a mood ring gone high tech – very high tech.

Here’s the rundown: The employee wears an Emobracelet on their wrist which measures the “arousal component of the user’s emotion through a galvanic skin response sensor”.

I told you to hang onto something.

This EmoBracelet is synced (wirelessly) with the EmoBowl, the beautiful bowl you see in the picture above, with lighted patterns to show a user’s emotional readout. The range is a soft yellow, orange, or deep red.

When the bracelet wearer sees that the bowl is flashing red, it serves as an alert. Someone needs to chill the heck out! Or, to be more precise, the individual should take a break – maybe walk around for 10 minutes, play solitaire, or simply take a couple of deep breaths. The idea is for them to catch themselves before they make a decision that might be the result of emotions rather than the result of common sense. Check themselves before they wreck themselves.

Oh the ramifications! This is, honestly, a brilliant concept. The Mirror of Emotions is for Investors, but just imagine if everyone in your office were plugged up to one?

Bruce Springsteen had one of the top 10 concerts this past year – grossing over 22 million. The Springsteen & E. Street Band’s Working on a Dream tour included a historic five-concert stretch at Giants Stadium and I’m not sure why I wasn’t invited. It could be that word got out about how I (mis)behaved at a recent Montgomery Gentry and Trace Adkins show.

I am living proof that you don’t have to drink alcohol to act a fool. Coffee and Diet Dr. Pepper will get the job done.
