But are we really satisfied already with those existing gadgets? I think those gadgets haven't prove yet their values because of continuous innovations that we have now.

Microsoft Kinect used for Video Conference

Today, MIT Media Lab researchers have used the Microsoft Kinect powers of depth and human perception to create video conferencing. There are four features implemented for this Video Conference: Talking to Focus, Freezing Former Frames, Privacy Zone and the Special Augmenting Reality.

Talking to Focus
From the first image above which is the upper left corner, the person who is not the center of conversation is temporarily blurred. While the one who is speaking have the relevant information displayed on the screen like the time she is talking, her name, etc.

Freezing Former Frames
Here you can freeze the gesture of the person who is not the center of the conversation letting the other person move as normal. This technique is being used for some short task like checking emails, text messages and other task relevant to the conversation.

Privacy Zone
Here the background is being eliminated from Kinect when there is a disturbing movement around during video conference.

Special Augmenting Reality
This is using the 3D position of the objects which can be assigned in an augmented status. People can click the objects on the screen (on the other space) to see the augmented information remotely.

Take a look on the video below for details of these four features:
He called it the Osborne 1.

Osborne 1 Portable Computer is now 30 years old

It is just hard to believe that this portable computer was a popular before. You can't just even imagine that it was a portable compared to the latest laptop or PC, tablets and smartphones that we are using nowadays which does a lot of tasks. This portable computer was a very popular before and at the steepest revenue growth ever seen - Osborne 1. Due to mismanagement, it was bankrupt after one and a half year of its first launched. In line with this, the next generation of product was announced while the current generation still on shelves.

This portable computer is just now a memory of the past. Others called it the state of the art of its time. Its parts are CRT, with four drive bays (which could served as floppy disk if there are no disk-drive installed) and full sized keyboards with a processor and operating system that already fade compared to the latest technology today.

Early portable computing industry

The best time to read this is during week end for those who are interested in the history of computing device. Innovations in terms of technology is very fast nowadays. Over the past 30 years, we are now in the generation of tablet pc. According to Apple.pro, they will be putting back the camera on their popular music player on the seventh generation of iPod nano part keeping the current model size and display. The display module above shown the small hole on the upper right corner where the camera is to be placed. With this added feature, Apple is planning to re-position the belt clip or to resized it smaller. The camera from iPod nano was already included way back its fifth generation. Let's wait for the next move and it has to be approximately release in September time according to engadget.com. The theory is now the same when using the electronic eye hands free faucets that we are using nowadays. This study was proven by the researchers at the John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore wherein the hands free faucet contain more Legionella bacteria compared to the conventional faucets.

Hands Free Faucets contains more Legionella bacteria say scientists

Although the process of hands free faucets has no touching compared to the conventional one, John Hopkins surprised that in the hands free faucets, Legionella bacteria is growing 50 percent from the cultured water samples of the 20 hands free faucets compared to 15 percent only from the conventional one of the same area. Legionella bacteria is not dangerous that dangerous but not good for the individual with weakened immune systems. They are suspecting the reason why hands free faucets have more bacteria than conventional one is that, hands free faucets have complex parts and there is a chance that more bacteria can hide and grown compared to conventional one with few internal parts only.

John Hopkins had replaced the 20 hands free faucets with conventional one of their hospital. They are still working for the remaining 100 hands free faucets. Researchers are now working with manufacturer to do something about it.

Dell Inspiron M102z AMD Fusion notebook now available for Australian customers

Lately, Samsung announced their latest laptop and that is the Samsung 9 Series Laptop.

This laptop has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. It has 6 cells battery and runs with Windows 7 Home Premium, with 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and an HDMI ouput and weighs about 3.4 pounds.

Dell Fusion M102z Fusion notebook is now available for Australian in two models. The first one runs at 2GB of RAM, 1GHz AMD C-50 processor and Radeon HD 6250 graphics with a starting price of $599. But if you want the faster one, just add $100 to make it $699. It runs at 1.6 GHz AMD E-350 processor, Radeon HD 6310 graphics, and 4GB of RAM.

The only difference of M102z Fusion from M101z is that the AMD latest chips combined the graphics and the CPU function into single chips. But the M101z offers better graphics and lower power consumption and the E-250 processor is not much powerful when compared according to liliputing.com

Sony to supply image sensor to Apple for 8 megapixel camera of iPhone 5?

There is a rumor that Sony will be supplying an image sensor to Apple to feature the 8 megapixel camera for its next generation of iPhone - the iPhone 5.

What is inside for Apple iPhone5?

This rumor comes from the interview of the Sony CEO Howard Stinger and Walt Mossberg of Wall Street Journal. Stinger mentioned in the interview the irony of supplying camera components to Apple which is the image sensor. He also said in the interview that " it always puzzles me" he said. "Why would I make Apple the best camera? "

Sony does not currently supply image sensor for iPhone and iPad. In the interview it is not clear what device they are referring to. But there is a rumor that it is the iPhone 5. Sony will be intending to supply image camera to Apple for iPhone 5 to feature the 8 megapixel camera. Stinger also stressed out in the interview that because of devastating earthquake in Japan, 15 Sony companies are affected and the supply of the components will be delayed.

iPhone 5 is the next generation of Apple's iPhone. Majority are expecting that Apple will be using the " dual core A5 processor" used from iPad 2. Also, they are expecting to launch iPhone 5 with 64GB model just like the iPhone 4 prototype.
Many says that it is just a humor but now it turns into reality and it will really happen. Google says that mouse and keyboard are the outdated technology that's why they made something different and this is the application of kinetic or the motion.

Below images are some of the demonstrated actions of this Gmail Motion. One of the main objective of Google that I really impressed is to increased the physical activity. They have a point here because nowadays there is a significant increased of people who are being diagnose with heart problem. It's time to move and increase our physical activity which will improved our health.

Some of the demonstrated Gmail Actions

Gmail Motion uses built in camera of your PC to translate your movement into meaningful characters and command. Only make sure to clear the area around you and take a break every 30 to 40 minutes just like the way you are typing using keyboard.

Schematic Diagram of Gmail Motion

With the use of the Gmail actions, you can open your email, reply, send and even compose your email etc. This is a very good stuff from Google. The video below explains the feature of this new technology by Paul McDonald - Product Manager of Gmail.

Take a look on the video below released via Make.

This mini airgun uses a small microcontroller and an IR sensor to accept commands and it can twirl around and tilt up and down to take the attackers from all sides. It has a remote control that controls the movement of this mini airgun. By pressing the green button it fires and the red button stops the gun.

Oh, this is just another weapon that you can build for self protection against the enemies nowadays. This is very possible. The only problem here is the steps that will take to produce this stuff. Now, watch out my enemies! your time is near!

Google +1 button on search engine result page, powerful or not?

Google implemented another button which is called the +1 button which appears on the side right after the link on each search engine result. This is another feature of telling people or friends that you recommend a certain webpage discovered after doing your search. Without sending an email, you can tell your friends "hey! this is something cool and useful" by just pressing the +1 button feature. The video below source released officially by Google:

This new feature is now running Google.com english. You may also opt to join the Google Experimental Labs.
Just like Facebook "like" button" the number of people "likes a particular webpage" only shows that it is the best recommendation or something cool for the users.
Take a look on the video below from Digital Info.

The principle of this new flexible touchscreen interface is just simple. It just treat the screen as elastic material, that is when you touch the screen and the content just squeeze as it moves at the edges of the screen in which you could still see other area in focus, rather than browsing it back just like the existing touchscreen nowadays. The video above demonstrated on Google Maps on large touchscreen. The researchers says it would just be applicable to phones and other touchscreen technology. It only means that it will be implemented soon and it is obviously possible.

Samsung 9 Series Laptop now comes with 11.6" for $1,199

Samsung had launched their new series 9 laptop with 13.3" last week. Well, it's time for you to evaluate and the test below that I will show is the proof that iPad 2 glass which is thinner is stronger than the original iPad. The video below was performed by iFixyouri.com.

The test performed by iFixyouri.com company. There are two wooden blocks prepared with different elevation. The first one is "one inch elevated" and the other one is " two inches elevated. The flexibility will be tested by propping the glass on those elevated wooden blocks mentioned and by pressing it down with a wooden plank.

The video shown that iPad 2 glass survived the test on both elevation while the original iPad gave up on this first test.

iPad 2 glass was tried to break using the hand but the one who performed on the video seems like he exerted more effort just to break the glass.

From the test performed above, it only shows that Apple considered not only the feature of the applications of their devices but also its durability.

So now, what do you think? Are you impressed with Apple's gadget?

Canon Rebel T3 DSLR good for photography?

Canon EOS 1100D which is also known as Digital Rebel T3 is the new entry- level model of Canon's extensive range of digital SLR cameras which is very affordable but loaded with great features in which the photography enthusiast will really appreciated.

Graham Ryland and Professor Harry Cheng developed iMobot while Ryland was studying for his master's degree in mechanical engineering and conducting research in Cheng's Integration Engineering Laboratory at UC Davis.

iMobot can be used for research and education tool according to the genius creators. It can also be used for industrial applications for prototyping complex robotics. Besides, this little creepy technology may eventually form the basis of robots for search and rescue operations. It has four controllable degree of freedom, two rotating joints, the individual module can crawl, or stand up and act as an autonomous camera platform. I'm really interested for the next move of this newly invented technology. Please check out related video below:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 measures 8.6 mm thick or 0.33 inch thick, which is thinner than iPad 2 which was officially released by Apple earlier this month. It also weighs 470g or 1.03 pounds and it has a Google Android Honeycomb and a custom Touchwiz UI. Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes with a 1GHz dual core processor with a resolution of 1280 x 800 and capable of playing full HD video of 1080p.

Other specifications of Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 are 3 megapixel camera that can do 720p and a front facing camera for video calls.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes with two different sizes of WiFi models. I can say that the pricing of these two models are competitive. The 16 GB model will be retail for $469 and the 32 GB model which will retail for $ 569. There is no exact date of launch for this new Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. The update will be post here once I get more information. So stay tuned !

iPad 2 On Sale in 25 Countries, Asian Countries Have to Wait

LG WCP-700, Wireless Charging pad

LG finally announced its Wireless Charging Pad ( WCP-700) just like HP has its own Touchstone and also Powermat from another independent mobile accessory company. Wireless charging for smartphones and tablet devices would be another trend of latest technology nowadays.

Wireless Charging Pad is a portable charging system in which uses the principle of magnetic induction technology, wirelessly charging compatible mobile devices when placed on top of it- transferring electrical energy from a power source into the battery of mobile devices.

I'm looking forward that more and more wireless charging pad will be announce this year for other mobile and tablet devices.

Here are the features of LG WCP-700:

Power LED – Blue = Plugged in

Battery LED – Orange = Ready to Charge

Battery LED – Flashing Green = Phone is Charging Correctly

Battery LED – Solid Green = Phone is Fully Charged

Slim and sleek design – allows for convenient storage, taking up minimal space

Effective Range – 7mm from center of placement guide

Dimensions – 6.29”x3.54”x0.39”

LG WCP-700 price is $69.99 and will be available on April this year.

The Powered Suit Skeletonics

A small team of Japanese Engineering Students made this project called Skeletonics, a hybrid words "skeleton" and "mechanics". The purpose is to extend the movement of the human arms and legs without the aid of any motors. The whole suit is made of aluminum sheets and pipes. The advantage of this passive design over the active exoskeleton is the significant reduction of weight and complexity from motors and software. It took up to six months to complete as a basic working unit.

Here is the related video for you to see the basic sketches. Unfortunately, specifications as well as their website are written in Japanese. The use of the Google translate is a little help for you to see the specific details. Anyway, the video below is pretty awesome and hope you will enjoy watching this.
