Our Project presented is a radical concept for an new urbanism meeting social behavior and ecological entrepreneur-ship: 

a Person a Tree City ! 

  

Concept in short: 
Cities are blamed for destroying nature: from steady expansion, to asphalting roads to erecting extensive concrete, steel & glass structures. Controversly the birthrates in Europe are stagnating. Our concept aims to add green in the city, by additionally assigning a tree to each person – a privilege and duty: You have to take care of your very own tree and take him with you, wherever you go. Like a child. 
This way, moving trees are getting into our homes, our offices, into the asphalt and concrete jungle of our cities. When a tree becomes immovable, you plant him in the city and adopt a new one. 
Greenery is spreading, constantly on the move. By applying this concept a city does not only become greener, healthier and create more fun, but also triggers economical and technological boosts, such as person-tree-applications… :-)

This idea has been conceived by Gaston Zahr & Merav Eitan of O*GE Architects and visualized in collaboration with DaPino.

Our proposal for the new CityPark in Haifa (formerly known as the Memorial Park) aims to bridge between Haifa's History an the city's green future. 

The spatial weakest corner of the park is strengthened through the carefully positioning of an elevated center which combines exhibition area, sky cafe, scenic lookout and lecture & event area. With it's programmatic ufo-like shape an position the center hovers above an artificial lake with terrassed stepping stones – the perfect area for outdoor events such as concerts, independence day festivities and night spectacles.

The artificial waterfall from the center acts like a natural outdoor air-condition, refreshing the visitors on hot summer days and becomes an exciting an unique screen for projections at night.

On March 8th, 2010 – The International Women Day –  we have presented our latest Installation created especially for the "Month of the Women" and the newly founded "Reshet Nashim – Women Networking Group" of Rishon LeZion, Israel.
The Red Blob – an entirely non symmetrical 3D Structure measures 6.2 m x 3.2 m x 2.8 m – is made from plywood and steel, covered with Macrame – A knotted net using red ribbon wire. 11 Women were creating this net in endless hours for this installation – a beautiful and poetical call for preserving old handwork techniques – also as an inspiring and creative resource for new structures and designs. We definitely enjoyed it !!!

 רשת נשים

כשהייתי ילדה, הייתי יושבת אצל סבתא שושנה, ימים שלמים, מרותקת
בין הידיים של סבתא שלי צמחו הצעצועים הכי מיוחדים שהיו לי, החצאיות הכי יפות שלי והסוודרים הכי מגרדים.

כל ביקור התחיל בדפדוף בתנ"ך המקומי הבורדה ובחירה בפריט המבוקש. מכאן והלאה הייתי מהופנטת לעבודה של סבתא שלי, שיודעת לסרוג במהירות האור, לרקום את כל הדוגמאות הכי מסובכות, מכל השבטים הנידחים בעולם ולתפור במכונה כאילו היא נוהגת בה במירוץ. היא הדריכה אותי בכל תפר, פרמה את רוב העבודות שלי כדי לתקן שוב ושוב וכשהייתי קופצנית מדי, היתה שמה בידיי חוט סבוך ומבקשת שאשב ואפרום אותו, לאט לאט. בינתיים היינו מדברות על הגננת, על בית הספר החדש, על החבר הראשון ועל השירות הצבאי שלא נגמר. הימים אצל סבתא שושנה שלי, בחדר "של המכונה", היו מלאים סיפורים אינסופיים ויצירות אומנות שמחלקן אני מסרבת להפרד עד היום. מתוך הגעגוע אל התקופה שלא תחזור, נוצר המיצב "רשת נשים". 

כחלק מהתקדמות השינוי בתפיסת הנשים ויכולתן להוות כוח מרכזי בחברה הישראלית, הפכה המציאות של רבות מהן לעמוסת משימות ומטלות. נשים נושאות בתפקידים בכירים, מנהלות עסקים ואירגונים גדולים אך בסופו של יום, רובן הן עדיין האחראיות המרכזיות לענייני הבית והמשפחה. תשומת הלב לפרטים בין המשימות השונות והיכולת לעצור ולהביט על הדברים בצורה בהירה, הפכו נדירות ככל שהעומס גדל.

המיצב "רשת נשים" נועד ליצור האטה מכוונת בקצב החיים, דרך כלי שנפגע מאותו קצב מהיר, עבודת היד.

כנשים, אנחנו מתרעמות על התפיסה התרבותית שבה מלאכות או עבודות מסויימות נועדו לנשים או לעבודה בבית וכתגובה אנחנו מבטלות ומתנערות מהן. בעולם טכנולוגי מתקדם וחישובי רווח והפסד, מה ערכה של עבודת היד?

בעיניי, עבודת היד לא רק מהווה ביטוי אישי דרך היצירה, אלא מעניקה בעולם מלא גירויים מהירים, את האפשרות להתרכז בעשייה אחת, מדוייקת ושקטה. בניגוד לתרבות ה"אינסטנט", עבודת היד דורשת תשומת לב מלאה ועיקבית ובניגוד ל"רייטינג" המיידי והקצר של החיים המודרנים, היא נשארת גם אחרי שכבים האורות.

"רשת נשים" הוא הוכחה ליכולתן של נשים ליצור יצירה משותפת חזקה ומשמעותית בעבודת יד עדינה שהיתה שמורה עד כה, לגבולות הבית. המיצב מייצר חלל בנוי שלדת עץ חופשית וגדולה שתחופה במהלך חודש האישה בעבודת מקרמה ע"י נשים שונות מרחבי הארץ.

המיצב יוצג לראשונה ברחבת היכל התרבות בראשון לציון, ביום שני, 8.3, יום האישה הבינלאומי החל מהשעה 16:00 וינדוד ברחבי העיר בהתאם לאירועי החודש המתוכננים. אנחנו מזמינים אתכן להצטרף אל צוות הנשים שיעבדו במקום ולקשור איתנו חוטים וסיפורי חיים. http://www.oge-architects.com/?p=1832

"While the first graffities were created undercover at night, the next monsters appeared during day time, allowing interaction with the artists and the people on the streets. However, the police took the interaction level quiet serious and started to arrest the artists on a regular basis, although all walls had been permitted by the municipality… At the end, thanks to the weekly intervention of the vice mayor, all artists had been successfully released and the work continued …"

"Those monsters have been created as a joint project by all Haifa Graffiti Groups, which set their daily rivalry aside and joint in together to create the biggest graffiti boost in Haifa ever. Additionally a new joint venture has been developed: people collected private funds to realize more graffities in their neighborhoods."

"Other monsters got dizzy from driving around endlessly and found a new strategy: In famous locations such as city squares they have been waiting for their "victims". Like here in Kikar Sefer, a giant monster head and a demonstration of more than 80 monsters up to 3 m high behind have been creating a daily traffic chaos: All kids were forcing their parents to drive in circles around the monsters, so they would not miss any."

"Other monsters have been settling down in the carmelit, one of the smallest subway systems in the world, turning it into a monster subway. More than 120 monsters, designed by graphic artists from all over the world, are occupying the walls of all five stations, interacting with the waiting passengers. "Tico, the logo of the whole project (designed by Tituz Leibing) joint people from Haifa for days to report how life in Haifa is: he was partying his 4th birthday at a kindergarden, got the honor to be Av Shabat, was preparing cookies with kids, joint campings … and became a senior lecturer at Haifa University. "After the success of the Urim School Project – My Hero – we have also joined schools into the monster project. At Fichman School, Haifa, we have held a Monster Design Workshop – children at the age of 11 and 12 years have created fantastic monsters out of broken toys, old kitchen utensils and other left overs. We and the monsters love Recycling! "

"The most interactive element of the project is the Monster Game. 80 Super cool Monsters have been created by Haifa citizens of all ages, each one of them truly a masterpiece and collectible object. "For more than 3 months, each week six monsters have been hidden in various locations in Haifa. On the monsters website, you could see what the monster sees. If you recognize and know the place, run and try to find the monster. If you are the lucky finder, then the monster is entirely yours !!! Just give us a call, post an image of you with the munny in our facebook group – and you are the lucky owner of a super cool and unique monster!"

"Whatever we anticipated, reality proved differently. The Game originally designed for kids, so they could find the monsters with their families, relaxed and in their own pace; attracted from day one lots of ambitious monster hunters. Organized in groups, equipped with GPS, wireless laptops, iphones and google maps, they left almost no chance for the kids. Every location has been discovered within a two hours. Amazing how the people know the city!!!"
