Eventually my posting overhead just flatlined my profits, and I had to unload or shelve any item above level 60. There are so many items on my server in the 50-70 bracket that I know will not sell. You can't give these things away. Like plate armor that gives bonuses to Intellect, for example. Useless forever, should be melted down. One of the ways I got around this was by creating multiple purchase price brackets in the Auctioneer profiles, and for the more expensive items (above 10g), I turned up the anticipated number of reposts to factor into profit estimates. Armed with this new skepticism and two other tweaks I won't divulge, I started over with only 10g in the extreme low end of the market, and ground out several hundred gold in the first few days. I feel I'm back on top of my game.

Just found this blog in searching material. Is he just taking a long break or was that case of the sniffles worse than we thought =(

I've been quite surprised by the way Primal Nether...

I've been quite surprised by the way Primal Nethers and Nether Vortex have sold on the auctionhouse on my server (Blackrock). Vortices also become purchasable for 15 badges and 8 gold. Primals are already worth 10 badges so I must ask...what do people think the general AH pricing will be for both Nethers? Naturally the more mature a server is the more Nethers have been made available, but I don't think it would necessarily mean more Nethers will be dumped on the market. Considering there are more and more patterns that drop requiring these Nethers as guilds progress further and further up into the Tiered content I would have to say within the first week you may see dozens to hundreds of Nethers on the AH. Personally I forsee pricing from anywhere starting around 25 gold to 500 gold, probably settling around the 30-50 gold mark.

On a related note as time passes there will be a couple new vendors offering purple gems. On some servers (mine included) the AH has already seen some of these uncut gems appearing. Pricing on SH has been in the hundreds (200-400 or so) for each gem. I'm wondering where the pricing will be for these when the patch hits. I think more people will take advantage of the epic gems, especially since they'll no longer be unique, thus keeping the pricing rather high.

So...what does everyone else think?

Roberth, Silver Hand

O Brother Og, Where Art Thou? /cry

O Brother Og, Where Art Thou?

/cry

While Og is out sick I'll throw a quick bone to al...

While Og is out sick I'll throw a quick bone to all those jonsing for their AH fix.

Darkmoon Faire is in town - 2nd week going which is a first. For the last couple of months I've sent a character to the Faire and "camped" out by the two unique items vendors, the Professor and Llahra. What makes them unique is that they sell items that respawn about every five minutes and are individual buys. They both sell an assortment of blue uncut gems, potions, scrolls, herbs, green (and the occassional blue) items, leather, and other items. Gems sell for 12 gold each and a quick check with your local AH should show that you'll get a decent return on most of them. I know I spent 48 gold on 4 gems, sold one for over 48 gold, thus making a profit on the remaining three. Scrolls for me are where I see the biggest return. A scroll that I buy for 1 silver can sell for nearly 20 on the AH. That's a 2000% return! Granted, I won't get my epic flying mount by reselling scrolls, but its good income.

Typically I save the herbs and pots for my alts but I do sell some - leathers as well. This month I sent my human rogue 500 gold to spend at the DMF - so far he's spent nearly half that. I tend to camp the Faire an hour a day, sometimes more if I'm surfing online (alt-tab out), sometimes less if there's already a crowd. I don't fight for space...if there's more than a couple people camping out as well I'll just go on another character. Better things to do than try to fight for a scroll or potion.

My favorite DMF setting would be Mulgore. While its a pain for Alliance to get out there, on my server there's a 2.5:1 Alliance to Horde ratio. That means camping DMF out in Horde lands results in little competition. Goldshire would be my next favorite setting - usually mornings and weekday nights are good. Weekends get busier the later into the day we get and as I'm in SoCal if its past noon, its too late. My least favorite would be Shat City. You'd think only the 60-70 crowd would be there but with friendly mages giving portals to every Tom, Dick, and level One out there, its often busier than IF in its heyday. Hard to get any good camping going on.

Its well worth the time to spend camping the DMF - Fel Lotuses are sold for 2 gold each. If you don't have an alchemist you can easily resell these jewels...on my AH they go for 30 gold apiece. Usually I can get 1-3 Fel Lotus a day from the Faire. Considering I spend about 4-5 hours weekly on my herbalist farming and only get 1 or 2, this is a better use of time buying the herbs!

Og, get better!

Roberth, Silver Hand server

Og,COME BACK! The bursts of money just isn't like what it used to be. Probably 75% of my gold is tied up in purples and blues and the rest are in consumables and greens. I find each day that I tend to have to repost about 90% or so of my auctions. I'll have to sit and actually figure that out to get true numbers - it just feels like 90%.

I'm thinking too that it could be because Silver Hand is one of the oldest servers around its more established and people know what an items value should be. Occassionally I find the great deal that nets me 50-100 gold or so, but my bread and butter seems to be the consumables like metals, herbs, etc. However those don't move often enough to net me the big bucks.

I was hoping to hit 5k by the end of the month to get my epic flying mount, but I'm pushing that date back another 30 days. Maybe too I'm in a slow period with 2.4 ramping up on the PTRs people may be getting ready for that.

Here's a topic I'd love to see touched - how to play the AH when a content patch/expansion is going to be released. I.e. prior to TBC I know ores were starting to get hoarded for Jewelcrafting. How would one speculate in that kind of market?
