Science Fair Winners

2012-04-22T19:07:00.000-07:00

This year both girls wanted to do a Science Fair project. They looked through the books and found projects that seemed interesting but not too complicated. Nina won 1st place and Best of Show for 4th Grade Physical Science for her project. She got to take her project to the St. Clair County Science Fair. At that Science Fair she got a 2nd Place Ribbon. She did awesome and we are so proud of her!

Although in 2nd Grade Science Fair projects aren't judged to compete in the St. Clair County Science Fair, our District gave the projects points similar to how they would the 4-8 graders. Gini came home with a 1st place ribbon too!! The Girls are already planning their projects for next year. I think we will start in the summer this time!!

Thanksgiving and Washington DC

2012-04-22T13:17:00.000-07:00

This year for Thanksgiving we decided to head east to visit with some good friends in Washington DC. We had so much fun catching up with The Pankratz Family. We also enjoyed seeing some of the fun historic sites around the City. One day we went to Mt Vernon the home of George Washington....the battery in my camera died so I don't have photos from that day:( We helped prepare and eat a yummy Thanksgiving dinner. We also visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The kids enjoyed looking around and playing in the kids area. Finally we took one day to walk around and visit all of the Monuments. We had such a good time visiting and site seeing. The kids are amazing car travelers it makes it fun to take them on vacations!!

Veterans Day 2011

2012-04-22T12:37:00.000-07:00

Every year the City has an Essay and Poster contest to honor Veterans. This year Gini won the Essay contest. She got to read her Essay at the School Veterans Day Assembly. She also won a Savings Bond and got to read her Essay for the City Wide Veterans Day Program on Veterans Day. She did and amazing job writing and reading her Essay!! She was also a Classroom winner for her Poster this year. Way to Go Gini!!

Trey's 4th Birthday

2012-04-22T12:28:00.001-07:00

Trey loves Spiderman, Batman, Power Rangers and pretty much any action figures most little boys love. This year for his Birthday we had some friends and family over for dinner and a bonfire. We have done some camping this past summer and he love smores.

Trey with his new wheel barrow so he can work with Paw Paw!!

I'm not sure if you can tell but he is super exited!!

Spiderman Chocolate cupcakes and smores to finish off a fun time!!

Baptism

2011-11-04T13:05:00.000-07:00

The week after Gini's 8th Birthday she got Baptized. She decided to wear the same dress Nina did for her Baptism. Grandma Goodrich did such a fantastic job making them such a pretty dress for such a special day.

Gini is EIGHT!

2011-11-04T12:52:00.000-07:00

This year Gini, our little artist, wanted to have a painting party! We went to Pottery Hollow with a few friends from school and painted up a storm. They all had a great time and went home with some very fun pottery.

Go Cougars...

2011-11-04T12:48:00.000-07:00

This year we drove down to Oxford, Mississippi to see the BYU vs OLE Miss football game. We had so much fun at the tailgate party and also at the game. BYU won the game so that made it worth our trip! This weekend was our first trip with MawMaw and PawPaw's new camper. Sunday morning we got stuck in a tropical storm which made things a bit interesting. After church we stayed inside the rest of the day, played board games, read books, and tried to stay dry. Here are some photos of our Cougar Fans!

First Day of School 2011

Gini on her First Day of School (2nd Grade)

Nina on her First Day of School (4th Grade)

Trey on his First Day of School (Pre-K)

I think he liked it. He was so excited....he had a hard time staying in the line!!

Lots of Work to Do...

2011-11-04T12:14:00.000-07:00

Trey loves to work in the garage with PawPaw. So PawPaw got him his own tool belt and "REAL" tools. Safety comes first so he made sure his goggles were on tight.

Sometimes you need to borrow some power tools to get the job done!

Putting a screw in the hole he drilled.

Now on to some cutting with his saw.

What a fun time it is to invent and build with PawPaw!

Botanical Gardens

2011-08-25T19:41:00.000-07:00

Our last field trip of the Summer was a hot one but a fun one. We went to the Botanical Gardens. We walked and enjoyed the plants and even a few sprinklers. We fed the fish and ducks. Then we headed to the Children's Garden for some splashing and cooling off.

Cooking on the Farm

2011-08-25T19:16:00.000-07:00

This summer we were lucky enough to have my 2 nieces come a visit for 4 whole weeks. It was so much fun for Trey to have a playmate his age. It was also good for him to practice how to share his toys. One day we took Trey and my niece Seneca to a Mommy and Me cooking Class. They both had fun!

Trey making his beach bundle and cutting all by himself!

All set and ready to get cooking...

Fresh picked from the farm Seneca's favorite BLACKBERRIES!

Making an absolutely yummy and totally good for you treat. Peach Frosty's....We have made these at home this summer for a cold delicious treat!

Field Trip to Grants Farm

2011-08-25T18:54:00.000-07:00

We always take field trips in the summer. I forgot to bring my camera to some of the fun but I didn't forget to bring it on this trip. Usually our trips end up being a big group of my extended family which equals.....whole bunch of kids.

Here is the group of kiddos that came to grants farm with us. A whole lotta family lovin.

Feeding the goats is always a must. I've never seen them turn away food.

Nina is a bit scared to feed the camel.

Trey is not afraid at all.
Sure looks like his fingers are going to get gobbled up.

Sometimes I get lucky and can snap a cute photo of them together.
If you can't tell it was a hot summer here.

Swim Team 2011

2011-08-24T15:32:00.000-07:00

This year the girls decided to join a summer swim team. They started the year with a very small amount of swimming background. I wasn't completely sure they would love getting up every morning and heading to the pool to swim laps for an hour but they LOVED IT. Their swimming has improved dramatically. They loved swimming and they loved the swim meets the best I think. They would really like to swim year-round. We will have to see how far the water will take these two fish!

Gini posing for a photo while she waits in the bull pin for her next race.

Swimmer Take your mark...this photo was taken before Gini learned to dive so at this point she just jumps in and starts swimming.

Nina with one of her swimming buddies.

Neither of the girls knew how to dive at the beginning of the season but by the end they were both diving and going off the blocks too.

Breaststroke has been Gini's best stroke since she started swimming this summer. She is super fast!

This is Nina swimming Freestyle. At the end of the season she could hold her breath for 8-10 strokes and she learned side breathing too! She even asked her coach to let her swim a Individual Medley. If you aren't sure what that entails, it is one length of the pool for each stroke (Fly, Back, Breast, Free). That's right 4 laps! After that she ended up swimming an IM in every meet and did great.

Camping by the River

2011-08-04T14:15:00.000-07:00

This year we found this really great campground right on the Meremac River. We spent a few days in early June camping right next to the river. The first day it was HOT. The second day we floated the tube loop right behind our camp site all day to stay cool and after that night it stormed really bad. The day we packed up the weather cooled off and was pleasant. As we headed out we stopped by the Onondaga Caves and were cold. the kids even met some friends in the campground to play with. We had a really great time and hope to go back again.

Trey's newest obsession Beyblades.

The Girls gearing up for a day on the river floating in a tube.

The year of the Cicada. Imagine these hole everywhere you walk.

Now imagine these and their shells everywhere else you look. Think of Gini screaming and crying every time she had to take her trash to the trash can because she was scared of them. Can't say she loves Cicadas yet.

Having fun in the river and having fun cooking out our meals. We have such good little campers!

State Farm LPGA Classic

2011-08-04T13:45:00.000-07:00

For the last couple of years Byron has taken Nina up to the State Farm LPGA Classic on a practice day to watch the golfers. This year Gini started playing golf too so they all went up. They had such a good time watching the Ladies practice and talking with them as they walked by. They even came home with a bunch of autographs too!

Getting autographs on their souvenir flags.

The clothes that is. Maw Maw and Paw Paw came home from China with lots of goodies for the Kids. Here is a photo of the Silk Dresses/Outfit they brought them.

School Picnic

2011-08-04T13:07:00.000-07:00

I can't seem to ever remember a school picnic and parade that we have ever had to dress in long pants and sweatshirts. Usually we are sweating, hot and ready to jump in the pool. This is also the first year since the girls started school I have been a specatator and not a participant.

Ballroom Dance Showcase 2011

2011-05-07T19:58:00.000-07:00

Yesterday the girls danced in their first ever Ballroom Dance Showcase. I took some short videos but I am having trouble figuring out how to download them to the blog. They did an amazing job! I know that they were very nervous but everyone loved them. I had the pleasure of running in and out of the dressing room for all the costume changes!! This was also the first time they have gotten to watch others dance in a formal setting. It was alot of fun and we were all very tired after the night was over. They each did 2 solo dances (Jive and Paso Doble) and then 2 group dances (Nina: Cha Cha and Viennese Waltz Gini: Slow Waltz and Samba). We are so proud they were brave enough to dance and show everyone how much they have learned!

Recorder concert

2011-05-07T19:37:00.000-07:00

In 3rd grade the kids get to learn how to play the Recorder. Way back when I was in 3rd grade we called them a flutophone. Whatever you call them it is a super exciting time and they even get their own concert to show off their music skills. I must admit I had prepared myself for squeaking, but it was alot better than I expected. I was quite impressed. Their music teacher even commented that she feels this class has musical talent. Wonder what instrument we will have playing in the background next year? Any guesses....

Best Friends.....soon to be pen pals for life!! Nina's friends moved this week across country. We are missing them already.

They have mostly memorized the music but in case they forget they have huge music they can refer to in front of the group.

Lucky enough these three are great friends and all got to stand together....making it easy for group photos and action shots.

Easter.....

2011-04-25T14:35:00.000-07:00

Somedays it is more challenging than others to get my kids to sit all together for a photo....today not so bad but not so good either....none the less they are kids, they are mine and I think they are cute!

Searching fo all the eggs with her name on them. Our Easter Bunny plays it fair and square. Sometimes he hides them so hard you can't find them though. Thank goodness for Aunt Katie. She rescued a few for us to pick up another day!!

Trey is super proud of his hunting abilities. You might notice the kids are sporting their rain boots. We have had more rain and bad storms this year than normal. This week being especially bad for the midwest. We were just so greatful to have a dry hour to go outside for the hunt and came prepared boot to keep our feet clean and dry.

Gini was the only 1 of my 3 that was able to find all of her eggs. Maybe next year the Bunny won't make it so hard. Look at where he hid a special egg for Aunt Katie.

Now I thought 3 was tricky to snap a photo of. Instead I'll Try 13 of the 16 cousins.

Birthday Wishes.....

2011-04-25T14:13:00.000-07:00

Nina loves to get her nails done and so do most girls. This year for her birthday we went to a local Nail Spa and she a a few of her friends got manis and pedis. It was alot of fun! Here are some photos that recap the night....

Nina and a Friend drying their nails.

Opening some presents....she always gets super excited and loves everything so much.

Chatting at the table waiting for homemade icecream cake. Which by the way was pretty easy to do and super duper yummy, maybe even better than Dairy Queen!!

Above is Nina directing her friends in singing Happy Birthday! Can't believe my first born baby is already 9 years old!! Time flies when your having fun! Hope you had an amazing Birthay...

On the Hunt!

2011-04-09T20:05:00.000-07:00

Today we went to a Easter activity at church. They had 3 eggs hunts based on age and 150 eggs in each hunt. It was a lot crazy because they all happened at the same time and I couldn't be in 2 places at once. The kids got plenty of eggs and it turned out to be a gorgeous day after all the rain early this morning. After the hunt we all stuck around and played at the park and had a picnic lunch.

Sleep Over

2011-04-09T20:04:00.000-07:00

The girls best friends are moving in a few weeks to Oregon..... We decided it would be fun to have them sleep over once before they journey west.

First the girls played with their American Girl Dolls and then it was time for nails.

They also read some stories had ice cream sundaes, and don't forget the popcorn and movie.

Before bed they all read their books for a few minutes and despite the late night.........

still had energy for funny faces and Scabby Doo in the morning! Wow that was super fun!!

Alot Missing

2011-02-21T18:02:00.000-08:00

Gini worked really hard tonight to loose yet another tooth. Next week we go to the dentist and he is going to wonder where they all went. too bad she did loose some of these in October. She would have made a great Jack-O-Lantern.

Ice Skating

2011-01-31T13:30:00.000-08:00

Nina has been begging for us to take her ice skating for quite some time now. We finally had a weekend day free to go. Everyone had such a good time they are begging to go back again. This one was a winner in the Family Activity Category

Trey's first attempt at skating on the ice.

Trey was so stinking cute I just couldn't get over it. His little hockey skates are just adorable!

Nina and her friend Lydia after they have finally gotten the hang of skating and broke free from the wall.

Gini and her friend Abbie at the end of the day skating in the middle of the ice!

The girls got some impromptu lessons from a guy that was at the rink practicing figure skating. By the end of 2 hours they were learning to skate backwards and spin....

Trey made a friend (hockey player) and she was able to get him to chase her. Before this all he wanted was for someone to pull him along the ice. Nice for him extra hard for mommy and daddy!
