Now that we've moved to New York, we've decided it is time to see as much as the eastern portion of the United States as possible. We spend a lot of time in NYC, Westchester Co and Northern New Jersey but it is time to get out there!
First on the list was camping in the Shawnee State Park of Pennsylvania. We went for Memorial Day with some of our best friends from college. It was right in the middle of Michigan and New York. I honestly knew absolutly nothing about the area but that is the beauty of google - it tells you where to go even when you have no idea.

It was beautiful but VERY cold so most time was spent around the fire. It felt good to be back in the country where Emmylou could run and chase birds without me worrying. We visited a couple local watering holes where we were some of the only people except for the staff. They possibly wanted us to leave but they were very hospitible nonetheless. We found Fort Bedford, which was closed and a lot of other places which claimed George Washington did something at. If I knew more about the area ahead of time, I probably would have been all history nerd on it but all I could think about was another shocktop and brat around the fire.

Next on the list, Philadeplhia sometime in June, Washington D.C. and then Boston. Hopefully all before summer's end. Any suggestions in these wonderous places?

Back in the Saddle Again.

It's that time of year again, folks. Back on that fitness train. And by that time of year, I of course mean that I haven't exercised seriously in a couple of years and it is time to get it started.

I recently bought myself an UP band by Jawbone which from what I've gathered so far, just tells me how lazy I am and how I sit at my desk too often and that I sleep like crap...info I already sorta knew but its makes you come to terms with it.

Luckily for me, there are some beautiful places around Westchester Co to go running. Yonkers isn't necessarily on the top of that list but it will do for the time being.

And, don't worry! This has not become a fitness blog all together but I wanted to share where I am at. Maybe when I get to my goal size I will do a horrible unflattering before and after photo of myself with no makeup and then a ton of it in the after just for you entertainment value. You're welcome.

Who wouldn't want to run here everyday?

Last month, I jumped on my fave mode of transportation, headed over the Atlantic and got my wanderlust on. We started in Athens, spent a couple of days in Santorini and then hit up the mountain town of Delphi.

We ate a lot of doner kebabs, olives, tzatziki and greek salads. Seriously feta on everything? How can you go wrong?? March is the off season of tourism in Greece, so we had many of the places to ourselves: ie Santorini, we were the only people staying in our hotel. It was wonderful to be able to see all the wonderful sights on Greece without having to fight for space with other tourists.

At night, we enjoyed staying up until 5am drinking Mythos in the cafes as well as walking the streets with tall boys. I did a 3am cartwheel on the front steps of the Acropolis.....lifetime bucketlist check off. Also, I hadn't done a cartwheel in like 10 years so just proving to myself I could still do one was pretty awesome!

A Little Late: NYC Easter Parade

For the first time ever, I spent a holiday by myself in a new city. I was determined to not make it a sad occasion. So I treated myself to a day in the city, people watching and eating delicious food.... Forgetting how much I regulate what I eat for a day.

If you ever get a chance, check out the Easter Parade in New York. There are beautiful people to see, crazy hats and of course, the occasional jackass with hateful political signs. ( I didn't feel like giving him the gratification of taking his picture.)

Holy Crap! I finally added new items!

This week is all about getting new items in the shop. I'm finally settled here in New York, I finally went thrifting this week (woo hoo!) and then I realized it has been over 3 months since I've added anything to the Etsy shop. So, here I go. Adding new items - going back to modeling them myself.

Style Post: Lace and Daisies

Daisies and Lace = everything feminine.
I have been waiting to do a outfit post lately. It just seems every time I wear a cute outfit, there is no one around to take a photo.
This outfit is a mix of brand new and vintage. The red dress with daisy print is something I picked up last week at Forever 21 when I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything new. (oops!)
The lace shirt is vintage - from the 1980s. I love the simplicity of the shirt because you can wear it open as a jacket or over-shirt, maybe with a black or bright tank underneath or tied up at the waist like I did. There are just so many options, a fun blouse like this has endless possibilities.
