I've always admired Nevermore Vintage, an Etsy shop featuring vintage finds. I am not a jewelry wearing type of girl, but I do like to collect brooches and other pretty things that catch my eye. With that being said, I think this brooch would be perfect with a pinstripe pencil skirt, cream top (tucked in) and pretty mary jane high heels, think Mad Men.

I've been MIA, but I'm back. Life threw me a curve ball at the worst possible moment. With that being said, let's get back to it! I've had this bracelet on my favorites on Etsy for awhile now. I have a great fondness for maps. When I came across this bracelet, I knew it had to make our "Love List." The bracelet is made out of wood and decoupaged with scraps of recycled map paper by SquishySushi. So pretty!

Love #56 - DIY Amy Butler's Floor Cushions

One of my clients I give private sewing lessons to wanted to make some floor cushions for her son's nursey. I went through all of my reference books and came across In Stitches by Amy Butler. I've always liked Amy Butler's patterns because they are very easy for the novice sewer to follow. These cushions are pretty easy to make, I think the hardest part of making the floor pillow is attaching the top and bottom buttons. Since I moved my living room furniture away from the TV (again), I might just sew up a couple of floor pillows!

I love this sofa by Sprucehome. The mink colored linen compliments the beautiful asian-themed cushion fabric and the frame painted in black semi-gloss gives the piece a classic style. If the cushion fabric is too much, you can turn the cushions around to simplify the look. I prefer the bold fabric print. I might just have to check out Sprucehome for myself, it's based in Austin, TX.

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to blog today. I've spent the last two weeks in pain and recently (yesterday morning) had surgery. But I'm feeling much better than I have since I went on vacation almost a month ago. So, remember I was telling you all about a couple great shops I found while perusing? Beki Wilson's Esty shop Outofline is another cool shop I've fallen in love with because of it's simple, clean designs. It was hard for me to pick out an outfit that I wanted to feature, but I narrowed it down to a t-shirt and a jersey dress. Then I took into consideration the Texas heat and went with the dress. I can see myself doing everyday errands in this dress or going on a girls night out with my daughters. Either way, this is the perfect summer time dress for summer time fun. Since I haven't been feeling well over the past two weeks, I've spent more time browsing the Internet than I should be. I found several Etsy shops that offer beautiful clothing items that have my creative juices flowing. The first shop is GoGothic. The owner of the shop has over 30 years of sewing experience!

Although it is hard for me to pick out a favorite from the shop, I settled on this knit dress. It's perfect for a date night. I can picture myself at the Odd Duck on South Lamar in Austin in this simple, but beautiful, knit dress under the twinkling lights with my husband. Ah...heaven.

This gorgeous crib mobile is so easy to make it' almost ridiculous. And it's so adorable! I don't even have babies and I want to make one of these. Sew She Sews has the full tutorial on her blog. When I have my own kids I'm definitely going to give this one a try.

Love #49 - Zoku, Quick Pop Maker

I really, I mean, really want this. It's called Zoku, it makes healthy, ice pops in minutes. Apparently, the Zoku comes with a base that you store in the freezer. You get six sticks and drip guards. You then add or make your healthy or not so healthy ice pops, once made you put them into the base and presto in a few minutes you have ice pops. I just hearted River of Romansk on Etsy this morning. I love the simplicity of the blouses and gowns. There are so many beautiful items in the shop, it's hard to pick a favorite! I love this tunic made out of recycled heirloom linens by bayousalvage. It would be perfect slipped over a tank top or a slip dress. I really like these types of delicate, feminine tops paired with an old, worn pair of jeans. Not only is the chemise tunic lovely, it's also eco-friendly!

Love #46 - Doctor Who

Okay, now seriously, this post could be love number 1-100 for me. I could just reblog about how much I love this show every. single. day. (Why haven't I blogged about this before now!) I've turned my family, who originally shot me raised eyebrow looks for my love for this show, into massive fans. In my opinion there are two kinds of people: people who love Doctor Who, and people who haven't seen it yet! (or at least, not enough of it)

If you don't know what it's about, basically it's a British show about a time traveling man from another world who goes through time and space having adventures, saving the universe, and takes along a human or two for the ride.

There is nothing in this show that is NOT to love. It can make you laugh hysterically, fall in love, cry your eyes out, and terrify you, sometimes all in the same episode! You might say, but Sara, I don't like sci-fi. Well that's okay, because at its essence, it's not sci-fi at all. It's a fairytale, that just happens to take place in all of time and space. And it's a family show, no blood, no sex, no more foul language than you'd find in a PG kid's movie. And it's brilliant.

Enough said.

I made my first movie/video on Imovie this weekend. I think I caught the director and editing bug. Once I pulled my hair out a couple dozen of times, I actually enjoyed myself. In fact, doing something like this was really easy once you did a trial and error run through.

Unfortunately, the imovie is available on the Macs. The good news is, if you were or are like me and own a Mac, and have never tried this feature, oh.....what are you waiting for?

So I love my hair curled or in waves, but I hate spending all that time attached to my curling iron. Plus, my hair is kind of long, but not very thick, so I'm always worried about damaging my hair by using too much heat on it. So to give my hair some pretty waves, without the time and heat I went in search for some solutions.

Here's a few of what I found. With all of these methods you spend about 5-10 minutes in prep time, and then you go to bed and wake up with curls! It feels so vintage.

If you have thicker, coarse hair, this tutorial is good for you:

If you have layers, or hair that isn't as long, this one is good for you (but it also works great for long thick hair too!):

If your hair is a little longer, you can get amazing curls using nothing but a sock! (or socks!) Check 'em out!

There are lots of other ways you can curl your hair without heat. Explore youtube some more, or go make up your own way! I used to get great waves by putting my hair into 4 french braids. Two on the sides, on on the top, and one in the middle on the bottom. Do it with slightly damp hair and put a head scarf on while you sleep so it doesn't get too frizzy, and you'll get fabulous waves the next day. I had so many people asking me if I had naturally curly hair, and it was just braids! So go experiment, and if any of you try it, we'd love to see photos!

Love #41 - Potty Park

As a lover of small things, including small dogs, like chihuahuas, I LOVE the potty park! There are several versions of this, many available on Amazon (mine has sides, like a litter box) and I tell you, it is worth it! With the horrible weather we have had this spring, I spent many a moment thanking the Lord above that someone invented this small, easy-to-clean option, THE alternative to taking your dog outside to do his/her business, so I didn't have to stand in the pouring rain while my pup swam around in mud to potty! They come in all shapes and sizes, and can be inside or on the patio. My pup uses his with no problem, and it is a cinch to clean outside every few days! (I put a potty pad under the grass and change that often, and clean the entire park with hot soapy water and bleach every 3 days. I also lay a piece of toilet paper down to catch #2. Sounds like a bit of work, but, compare that to picking up 20 piles of poo in your back yard after a rain storm!) If you have a dog under 25 pounds I highly suggest looking into one!

If you read the blog at all you know that I love to cook. You also should know that I'm really, really (no, really) lazy when it comes to cooking. If it's not easy, I won't do it!

Pampered Chef has always been one of my favorite places to get fun and functional cooking items, but it had been awhile since I had checked them out. I found this Manual Food Processor while looking through the catalog at my friends party and needed it. The gals all told me I would love it. I do.

It's so easy to use (and you get a little arm workout in the process). AND it's so easy to clean. If you have one, you know it's probably one of the best tools in your kitchen EVER.

Anyone else love Pampered Chef as much as me?

Love #39 - Milk Bottle Measuring Cups

I adore Anthropologie's gorgeous clothing so so soooo much, but that's a post for another day. Because today, I'm writing about their SUPER cute measuring cups that stack up to look like a milk bottle. I'm beyond in love with them. And the lovely colors on the inside made me fall in love with them even more. They are china AND dishwasher safe. Fabulous. I have this slight obsession with things that manage to be both vintage and modern at the same time, so as soon as I saw these my heart skipped a beat. Who knew one could fall so in love with measuring cups. But I did. ♥

Our last love #39 was one of mine. Absolutely the most amazing chicken cordon bleu recipe I've ever tried.

I'm in a baking mood today, so I've decided to blog about Serious Eats' cookie-stuffed cookies. Let me tell you these cookies are AMAZING. And my family agrees. I made the oreo-stuffed cookies, with a few tweaks of my own (2nd photo is my version) and they were devoured in a day. I used my favorite crisco recipe and put the oreos on the baking sheet then covered them with the cookie dough. The website walks you through the baking steps and provides a plethora of photos. You can use just about any cookies for the "stuffing." Wouldn't Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies be amazing with a chocolate cookie batter?! YUM YUM.

I think one of my friends on Etsy favorite-d this shop, then I saw it. And then I fell in love. Though I really like the look of gauged earrings, I don't want to stretch my ears.

These Fake Gauge Nava Wings earrings make it so I don't have to! They are so cool. They are handmade from salvaged water buffalo horns so no animals were harmed to get them! The design is so fun and funky!

I've found many other designs I love too, but you'll have to check out the shop for that- TribalStyle!

Love #36 - Teacup Organizer

So we all know that Martha Stewart is a crafty, creative, megalomaniacal genius, and you can find so many fabulous ideas on her website. But these really did throw me for a loop. mismatched teacups in a drawer. They are gorgeous, and SO simple.

I'm always struggling with organizing my jewelry. It seems like all of my items get jumbled together in one small box, and I'm always untangling things. If I had several small dishes to put things in, it would seriously make my life so much easier.

Now I don't have any mismatched china, but I will totally go to the thrift store to buy some! This is definitely one of the prettiest and easiest ways to organize jewelry that I've ever seen.
