George is the fashion brand of Asda (the UK version of Walmart), and they've recently launched their new plus size line entitled Threads. Cartier helped popularize the modern wristwatch. In 1904, the pioneering Brazilian aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont's, customary pocket watch was wildly impractical in his rickety aircraft during that time. Santos-Dumont asked his friend Louis Cartier if he could anything about it. Thus the “Santos” watch was created. Flat, comfortable to wear, and easily used by a pilot who needed both hands to control his aircraft. It was actually one of the first successful men’s wristwatches and has been a classic selection for gentlemen’s wrists ever since.

Cartier could always be counted upon to create beautiful and diverse elegant designs. Some of the most well-known were the Cartier mystery clocks, (a clock with a see-through dial concealed mechanism) and the colorful Art Deco “Tutti Frutti” jewels. Cartier first came to New York in 1909 and by 1917 had a store on Fifth Avenue. Hawaii is known for its tropical climate, however the past few day it's been unnaturally chilly. Temperatures have dipped as low as 50°, which typically is quite mild, but when you're on a usually 'hot' island

Modern Design Inc Review!

Recently I was contacted by Modern Design Inc to do a review on their Tungsten ring line. Tungsten rings are made of a rare and durable metal, that is extremely strong and nearly unbreakable. Unlike traditional metals such as gold, silver, platinum etc Tungsten is quite heavy and has a melting point of 6192 degrees Fahrenheit. Tungsten rings have become vastly popular for it's steel-like appearance and shine. Tungsten rings will look new for years to come, as they are scratch resistant which is a major bonus.

After finding out so many interesting facts about Tungsten rings, it was hard to make a choice, as Modern Design Inc had so many beautiful rings to choose from. I finally settled on the 'Polished Flat Tungsten Carbide Ring with Beveled Edges and Roman Numerals Engraving'.

Pros : As mentioned before, Tungsten rings are heavier than the average ring. I was pleasantly surprised, as it wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be; it has a nice weight to it and doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. I love the appearance of the ring, it has a timeless look and feel. A major plus for Modern Design Inc, is that their ring sizes ranges from 3-14 and have either 6mm, 7mm, or 8mm in width. Wonderful sizing options, if you're like me, who has larger and thicker fingers than most. I highly suggest MDI, as a great option to shop for affordable rings.

Cons : Tungsten rings are targeted for men, and therefore the ring designs are masculine. This is one of three rings that I found to be unisex. I would've liked if there were Tungsten rings specifically for women, with classic and contemporary feminine designs.

Overall : I will definitely be placing future orders with Modern Design Inc, they have beautiful Tungsten rings at affordable prices, and they're customer service is excellent!

Baby Phat Review!

I was recently contacted by Baby Phat to a review for them. I jumped at this amazing opportunity as I've always been a big fan of the brand since early 2000. With their vibrant prints, bold colors, and keen eye for detail it's no wonder why so many women love Baby Phat. I was sent the "Cold Shoulder" blouse from their SS12 collection.

PROS : I am in love with the print of this blouse, it's so bright and fun. This is definitely a statement piece, that will go perfectly with the rest of my wardrobe. The fit is amazing, and hugs my shape instead of being clingy. It can be dressed up or down, and will brighten any outfit. This blouse is a size 3x (22/24) and fits true to size.

CONS : The only thing I didn't like about this blouse, was the humongous v-shaped split in the middle of the blouse. When I first tried it on, my chest was fully exposed and looked like there wasn't enough fabric to fill in the space. So you would most definitely need to wear something underneath.

OVERALL : 4/5 - I would recommend this top to those who love to make statement with bold color. This blouse retails for $59 and is available to purchase at Macy's.

Evans Footwear A/W 2012 Review!

A couple of months ago, the lovely people at Evans sent me some of their new shoes from their A/W 2012 collection. I was randomly sent a pair of pumps, and a pair of winter boots. I was really excited to receive my new shoes and share them with you all. Below is my honest review of Evans shoes from their A/W 2012 collection.

Evans Brown Leather Lace Up Boots - Price N/A :

Fit : 0/5 - I requested a size 10, but was sent a size 8 and I couldn't fit these at all! With that said, I can't accurately rate the fit of these boots.

Quality : 2/5 - These boots are made of thin leather, and I'm not convinced that they will last very long. My favourite thing about these boots, are the grips on the outsole. Grips on shoes or boots for winter is a must! I honestly can't tell you the boots feel on, and therefore can't rate the quality of these boots accurately.

Comfort : 0/5 - I can't accurately rate the comfort of these boots.

Style : 2/5 - I wasn't to keen on the style of these boots when I received them. I really don't like the shape of the boots, or the material they're made out of; they're not something I would personally choose for myself to wear. The only thing I really liked about these boots, is the lace up detail on the back of them.

Overall : 2/5 - There wasn't really much I could comment on about these boots. They're definitely not my favourite out of the two pairs I was sent, but I can appreciate Evans stepping out of their comfort zone. Evans still need to do a lot of work on their boots, but I can honestly see an improvement in terms of quality. However, the thick supportive grips on these boots have won my affection.

Evans Black Leather Bow Pumps - £45.00 :

Fit : 2/5 - I requested a size 10, and was sent a size 8 (most likely that was the only sample size available) so I can't accurately rate the fit of these shoes. However, with that said I did manage to squeeze my size 10 feet into them. Bearing that in mind, I say the fit of these shoes are very generous for it's size.

Quality : 4/5- These pumps are made of quality leather, and won't fall apart after a few wears like some of Evans other shoes in the past. One of my favourite things about these pumps, like the boots, are the grips on the outsole. For so long I've wanted a nice pair of pumps with supportive grips, so that I wouldn't be slipping and sliding everywhere. Another thing I really like about these shoes, is the extra padding for comfort. There's nothing worse than having thinly padded shoes. I definitely think these pumps are well made and more effort has been but into them in terms of quality.

Comfort : 3/5 - As these pumps are the wrong size I can't accurately rate comfort of these shoes. However, with the extra padding incorporated into these pumps, I feel that these shoes would be very comfortable when worn in the correct size.

Style : 3/5 - The style of these pumps are quite simple, perfect for everyday wear whether dressed up or down. I love the polka dot detail on the insole, it adds a nice trendy touch to the pumps. I'm not too keen on the leather bow, but it's something that I can overlook. I think these pumps would've been perfect with a toecap design, or even some diamante detail on the bow.

Overall : 3/5 - Although these pumps really couldn't fit me, I can definitely see a major improvement in terms of quality. I think with a few tweaks here and there, Evans could really produce high quality shoes for plus size women.

Thigh Challenge!

Huffington Post wants your thighs. Yes, you heard me correctly...Huffington Post wants your thighs! With the latest 'fatkini' and 'bare faced/no make-up' challenges swirling around on the interwebs, thighs apparently have been overlooked and wants to join in on the fun.

PROS : Anonymity! As we all know the internet can be quite cruel, especially to those who don't always look air-brushed-picture-perfect (who does anyway?!). And when brave people post pictures of themselves in their natural state, I often cringe at the harsh critical comments. But with this challenge, you'll have the peace of mind that no one can personally attack you because of your thighs. I mean no one is going to say :

"Oh yeah, I know those thighs, they belong to my friend's cousin girlfriend Jane!"

Unless they're a total creeper...

The only thing that will be on display are your thighs. No one is going to know your name, or what you look like. You can freely, but most importantly show off your thighs anonymously without anyone knowing your identity.

CONS : Honestly though, who really wants to get their thighs out?? For some reason this challenge just hits a raw nerve with me. I proudly embrace my thunder thighs, but that doesn't mean I want the whole internet to see them, let alone make comments about them. And I can't help but think are these "body embracing" challenges going too far. I mean what's next, getting my vajayjay out to help another woman to accept her vajajay? As you can probably tell, thighs are a sensitive subject for me, so this isn't my favourite challenge in the whole world.

June is set to be a busy month for me, as I have many friends with birthdays coming up and that means party time! One of my close friends has decided to throw her birthday party at Empire Casino in central London! Summer is finally here, and you know what that means....new seasonal collections from the high street! With the success of the Clements Ribeiro collection, Evans is back with a new SS12 collection! The SS12 collection will be released this Saturday, just in time before the anticipated Diamond Jubilee. Evans 'Collection' offers on trend fashion pieces that fit and flatter different body shapes. Here is how Evans described their new collection :

One of my favourite thing about this collection is the colour palette! Why do we as society spend so much time criticising our bodies, trying to mould it into something "perfect"? Nothing in this world is perfect, nor will it ever be and that's what makes us human. We are constantly told by the media, that the way we look is not "good enough" for their standards. However, it's the mainstream media with their flawed vision that makes us think that there is something wrong with our bodies. Remember the H&M photoshop scandal?

So, if the professional models (who are on average size 0-2) who are in the magazines/ads don't really look like that, then why are we trying too? It's crazy how the media has us chasing our tails trying to be their vision of perfection, when they themselves can't even live up to their own standards.

I say to hell with their unrealistic standards, beauty comes in all sizes, shapes, and colours! Life is too short to try and fit into someone else's mould. I'm never going to look like the models in Vogue, and that's okay because that is not the way my body was created. It has taken me so long to accept my body and finally realise that I am beautiful just the way I am, and I don't need anyone else's approval but my own.

We were not created to be perfect or to look perfect, and that's just our human nature. There is more than one body type, and I wish the mainstream media would celebrate diversity instead of limiting us to their distorted perception of "beauty".

Jene Luciani's Top Bra Tips!

Finding the right bra for a fuller bust can be difficult and frustrating at times. Luckily, I have the critically acclaimed "bra guru" Jené Luciani, top tips to finding the perfect bra for women with a fuller chest. Jené is a fashion journalist, bestselling author of 'The Bra Book', TV personality, and bra expert amongst the stars.

Top 7 Tips to Finding Bras for Fuller Busts:

1. Be aware of your body type so you know what bras to look for. For example, if you are more of a top-heavy “apple,” you likely will be looking for fuller coverage bras, not demi-cups. A full guide by body type can be found in The Bra Book.

2. Wear a thin t-shirt while trying on so you can see what each bra looks like under the sheerest of circumstances.

3. Get a fitting!! Or give one to yourself, using the instructions in The Bra Book. Be open-minded about your size. If you’re surprised (or disappointed), remember that size is just a number (and a letter!). The proper fit of the bra is the most important part. Look for ‘key’ fit points like the ‘bridge’ between the cups lying flush and that nothing is bulging, pinching, gaping or billowing it, and the straps aren’t digging in or slipping!

4. If you’re in a bind and there’s a bra that you really love but they don’t have your size, it’s usually OK to go up a band size and down a cup size – or vice versa.

5. Don’t be afraid to put the bra on and face yourself in the mirror with a critical eye. If you see any gaps, spillage, digging in, or other signs of poor fit, it’s not the right bra. Turn around and look at the back as well. The back band can be very telling too when it comes to proper fit.

6. Don’t get stuck in a size rut. Be sure to plan another fitting six months to a year later (our sizes fluctuate due to weight gain, hormonal changes, ageing and other life changes so it’s important to get fitted at least once a year!) Our bras also need to be replaced every 6 months to a year due to wear and tear so it’s a good rule of thumb.

7. Once you find a brand you like, or that caters especially to you, like Curvy Kate, stock up on your ‘7 essentials,’ i.e. one bra for every day of the week and all occasions. These include a spa bra (comfy for everyday wear), a sports bra if you exercise, a nude t-shirt bra, a great strapless bra, and a few ‘special’ bras that are decorative and pretty, perfect for spicing up a hum drum work wardrobe (but only you will know!) and of course, for spicing up evenings – even let one peek out occasionally!
