CMT Casting Call Winner!

Now we can all say “We knew her when…”

That’s right, Melissa Parrott… my niece… my wife’s twin sister’s daughter… my son’s cousin… has won the Country Music Television’s search for a summer host contest! She received the call yesterday morning at 1:30 am and by 6:30 am she was on a plane to Toronto to begin the exciting summer she has in front of her.

A big thank you to all my many fans (ahem) who took the time to log onto CMT.ca and vote for Melissa. It worked! Now just tune into CMT and enjoy the fruits of your labour…

Did She Mean To Say That?

We are rolling out a new phone system where I work. Tonight is the big cut over night and one of the vendors made a mistake that caused a level of service to be missing for a few hours. The employee sent us a message apologizing for the mistake.

“I do apologize for any incontinence this may cause your organization.”

Did she mean the opposite of “continuity“, as incontinuity? Or was she just trying to say she hopes she didn’t scare the shit out of us!

Cirque Du Soleil – Alegria

My wife and I had the opportunity to go see this show in Saint John, New Brunswick this past Thursday. I lucked in to a couple of free tickets and thought, what the heck, the worst I could do is get my money’s worth, right? Well… were we in for a surprise! What a freakin’ show! CMT Casting Call – Time to Vote Again

Remember a few weeks ago I told y’all about my niece, Melissa, who applied to CMT’s Casting Call to be the face of Canadian country music for the summer? You do? Great. Well, thanks, I think, mostly to my wife’s obsessive voting every night for hours, Melissa made the cut and is among the final five.

You heard me.

She is in the final five candidates in a national competition to be a television music station host! As impressive as that is, it’s not good enough. We can’t rest until she is the winner. Same deal as before folks. Go to the CMT casting call website and vote for Melissa. And don’t vote just once… vote over and over again. Click that mouse until the fingernail on your index finger falls off. The voting window is from today, June 8, until June 29. There will be a finale show on June 29 at 8 pm Eastern Time Zone featuring all five finalists. The winner will be announced June 30 at 5 pm ET on CMT.

What are you waiting for? Go vote! My wife can’t do this one by herself!

Advice: Easier To Give Than Follow

A man breaks into a house to look for money and guns.

Inside, he finds couple in bed. He orders the guy out of the bed and ties him to a chair. While tying the homeowner’s wife to the bed the convict gets on top of her, kisses her neck, then gets up & goes into the bathroom.

While he’s in there, the husband whispers over to his wife: “Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He’s probably spent a lot of time in jail and hasn’t seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don’t resist, don’t complain…do what ever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he’ll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you!”

His wife responds: “He wasn’t kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he’s gay, thinks you’re cute, and asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong honey. I love you too.”

ATV Ride

Several weeks ago my wife and I joined several other couples on an ATV ride in Springhill, Nova Scotia. It was early spring and the leaves were just starting to come out on the trees. The area we went riding in was interwoven with all kinds of trails; some technical and slow, others wide open and fast. It was supposed to rain that day, but the weather gods showed some mercy and only sprinkled on us for a few minutes. Check out the pics below. They don’t do the day justice, but you’ll get the idea that it was a pile of fun.

This post flags the conclusion of my alphabet series. For the past two months I’ve been publishing posts with subjects starting with the letters of the alphabet in reverse order. This exercise proved to be more challenging than I thought it might. I had actually intended to have it complete in a month. Oh well…
