Fresh new mix from Soul Harmony aka Wendy from Miami. Yes Yes Ya’ll! This past month has been a whirlwind of events and new experiences that I am still hyped. The music conference last month got me lit. So many parties and people that I came across heightened my love for this music even further. One of my favorite parties this year was the Afrodesia event at the Chesterfield and the NULU event at the Shelly. This year I played at the Whitelaw Hotel with Dj Spoo/ D.U.S.U., DJ Depth and Nimbus. After being influenced by so many sounds I’ve come to pour my love into these mixes. Enjoy and watch out Miami!

For about a year I hadn’t really put together a mix; or dedicated time to spinning. I have been consumed by the everyday hustle & graphic design work that I do but I was seriously missing something. Remember the late Soul Harmony podcast I used to do on “Podomatic”? Well I’ve missed doing it ALOT! That show is over and to restart it on “Podomatic” again is not what I’d like to do. I’ve started this new hobby of recording myself when I’m playing at home. I’m putting much more effort trying to balance work & hobby. I had an epiphany the other day when stuck in a creative hole and thought if I love the music so much I’m sure I can make it my work too. That’s an idea I’ve always shunned away from because I’m an idealist but the truth is I’d like to make a living AND heal others through music. I thank the universe for placing me back into in an amazing choir (Unity on the Bay Choir) but I need my deep soulful house music too. So this leads me to this blog again.
Let’s get it on!!!

Frankie Knuckles grants Miami’s wishes

This past weekend many heads hit up The Vagabond where the Back Door Bamby crew brought us Frankie Knuckles. I arrived at around 1am and the crowd was feelin Frankie. Frankie played till 6 am granting the crowds encore wishes several times. Also this night celebrating his birthday was heartbeat of the Vagabond “Carmel” blowing out his candles right from the dj booth alongside Frankie. Putting the icing on the cake the “Maestro” Frankie Knuckles closed by playing a gorgeous remix of Chris Issak’s – Wicked I think it could have been the Quentin Harris one but still not confirmed if it was. He played this track twice and it was the perfect one to close with. Frankie Knuckles served it up. He also played his remix of Depeche Mode’s -“Wrong” pleasing many.

If your in Miami this weekend I have two suggestions for Friday April 24th & Saturday April 25th.

FRIDAY, you might want to come on through to UVA69- 6900 Biscayne Blvd to celebrate an Afro Bionic Birthday with Djinji Brown. I remember the first time i heard him play was at at a spot called Amendment XXI. The music he was pulling out of his bag was perfect to get that afro house groove going. I’ve heard him play other times around Miami and he can put it down Yoruba style.

You will also have Stell*R, Ivan Diaz, & Aaron Feld bringing the beats for your feet. Come sing along “Happy Birthday” to the son of sound Dijinji Brown this Friday the 24th.

Saturday, Vagabond & Back Door Bamby is bringing to us “the godfather of house” FRANKIE KNUCKLES. The guy has 30 years in the industry but you can’t talk about house music or attempt to speak about it’s history without bringing Frankie Knuckles up. His club playing at the “Warehouse” had everything to do with the term you know as “house music”. I’m not missing this…You should get your tix asap GOOD LUCK

Have you danced your mouse on over to UHMag yet? It’s an online underground house magazine hence the name.
Recently in Feb of this year I took another trip to NYC and this time while I was up there I made it a point to check up on my NYC house heads. Greg Cuoco from Aquabooty was throwing a party along with Dorian and they were partying it up with no other than Tony Humphries.
