In a world where the voice of veterinary professionals is more critical than ever, the Power of 10 Leadership Program recently hosted its last session focused on advocacy. This session not only empowered participants but also included a unique visit to the Ohio Statehouse, underscoring the importance of active engagement in the legislative process.

The discussion, led by OVMA Executive Director, Chris Henney, and OVMA Government Relations Director, Michcael Guastella, addressed the important role advocacy plays in veterinary medicine by representing the interests of animals, public health, and the profession itself.

Veterinarians from across the state convened at the Statehouse yesterday for Legislative Day, OVMA’s annual event that allows members to educate lawmakers on issues affecting the profession. Participants were briefed on current issues and heard a keynote address from Rodney Creech, chair of the House Agriculture Committee.

Hello from your new Executive Director! I am thrilled for the opportunity to serve the members of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association and appreciate the Board’s trust in my leadership of this well-respected organization.

As this goes to print, I only have a couple of weeks under my belt, but I can honestly say I am loving every minute of it. I am fortunate to have followed Jack Advent into this position and am very grateful to him for leaving the organization in such great shape.
