“4th July. Friday.
In the morning it was raining. Sat in the wheelhouse with N.N. and Marie. Had breakfast, drank tea and had dinner with everyone. In the afternoon the rain stopped and we went to the mainland. Walked from the telegraph and post office to the village and then back to the place where Alexei usually played and where we swim. Walked with N.N. It was terribly good. After tea there was a heavy thunderstorm, terrible rain and squall. After dinner, was a little on the deck with N.N., but then again it started raining heavily, lightening and thunder, and we went to the wheelhouse. He came and went, because on watch. Then sat a little in the back wheelhouse with Mama, Olga, N.P., Anya, Molokhovets and Butakov. Alexei has a fever again 38,3. Poor little one. ”
