Lighting up the world

If there is one image which predominates this Sunday, Transfiguration Sunday, it is the image of light.  On Monday morning I had a phone call from the Mothers and Toddlers group who meet in the hall here at St Stephen's. They had arrived to find that they had no power.

 The Christmas stories are full of fascinating characters. Perhaps the most mysterious are the magi, these 'men who studied' whom we hear about it Matthew's Gospel tonight. The electrician's investigations showed that the fault lay  with the connection to the grid. Very quickly a hydro engineer was on  the scene to diagnose the problem.
 Soon there were three or four  vehicles and half a dozen workmen on the scene.
