I'm still amazed that everyone is still using cooking oil. Cooking oil isn't clear and it smells. It actually goes bad just sitting in the computer. Maybe it's because you can buy big bottles for cheap at Walmart? Well I wish more people would use mineral oi. If you check online you can find the gallons of mineral oil for cheap. I wish I would have done that instead of buying all those small bottles. Well I'm still trying to find a mineral oil computer online that was created before mine. If you can let me know. I got my idea from the cooking oil people but I would really like to find the first mineral oil computer online.

Well it is out. It has been 5 or 6 months in storage. I took some pictures which are below.

The mineral oil is still crystal clear. And guess what it is the same consistency as it was when I poured it in. As you will notice from the pictures the top is off. There were a couple of bugs that got in. So I had to cut the silicone and remove the top. I found where they came in so a little more silicone will fix that. I also have a video that I took with my camera. The video is below. As you can see in the video the fans are moving. They aren't moving like they did when I first built it. The video is only with the computer running for a few minutes. After about 30 minutes of the computer running the mineral oil heated up a bit and the fans could start to move more freely. I have a feeling that the mineral oil in the fan bearings was just too thick to let it move. But as it heated up it broke loose. I'm planning on taking another video in a few days when I get it put back together. If you have questions go to the forum and let me know. forum.oilcooled.com I also want to overclock this computer. So if you know about overclocking I'll need your help. I have never overclocked before.

I'll get some pictures and run some tests. I think it has been in storage for around 5 months. So here in illinois that means that it has been exposed to some real heat sitting in the storage shed. Plus now it is getting cold again. I'm interested to see what sitting around does to the mineral oil. Plus I want to know if the case cracked or if there is any loss in mineral oil. Check back this weekend for an update.

Some think this kind of cooling is just for kicks, which it kinda is, but with this site we will explore some of the advantages and cool ways to use oil to cool our computers. I have been tossing around some ideas with a few friends. I'm hoping we can kick off the site with a special project. What that might be will be unvailed later. The next post will be some links to some projects around the web. Of course one of those links will be to my first mineral oil computer, which started this crazy idea in my head that oil cooling can go beyond just for kicks. I believe it has a real future in the consumer market for computer cooling, if it can be designed and implimented in a safe, easy to use way.
