ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.3.1 for Samsung Galaxy S3 *GSM* ONLY

This is the latest Touch Version from the ClockworkMod Site. I just packed it into a tar file so it can be flashed via Odin or Mobile Odin. Do not attempt to flash this image to the Snapdragon variant as it will not work.

NOTE: CWM has the ability to 'choose backup format' to either the new .dup method with the blobs folder or the original .tar method where everything is in the date/time stamped folder. You can now ALSO 'create image zip' file from a NAND backup. Be patient with the zip backup option as it does take a while to create the zip (to be expected from a 1GB+ backup). Thank you for this addition koush it makes recovery alot more complete

ANSWER: Basically on the new cwm all the data is stored in a blobs folder in the clockworkmod folder. The backups folder now doesnt hold the actual data and instead the system and data files contain links to the files in the blobs folder (with the hash of the file as its filename). When you perform another backup only the changes have to be added so it performs incremental backups instead of full backups everytime. You can still flash different roms and back them up as any new data is stored in the blobs folder with the links in the backup folder. Several backups can share the same blobs file so over several backups the total file size of all the backups will be much much smaller. When you delete a backup via cwm you can then free space of the blob files that are no longer needed to keep everything tidy and make sure that no files are stored that arent referenced to any backup. If you don't free the space then any unused files will automatically be deleted when the next backup is performed.

How to Install ClockworkMod Touch

1. Download the attached tar file at the bottom of this post. DO NOT EXTRACT THIS FILE! If you end up with a recovery.img file then smack yourself and start again.
2. Download Odin (windows only) at the bottom if you don't already have it and unzip it to a folder on your PC
3. Reboot into Download Mode: Power off your device, Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.
4. Plug your usb cable in
5. Start Odin (double click Odin3_v3.04.exe).
NOTE: When Odin opens you should see that the first box at the top under ID:COM should turn blue and 'Added' should appear in the message box in Odin.
6. Make sure 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' are ticked in Odin and nothing else.
7. Click on the 'PDA' button in Odin and browse to the recovery-cwmtouch-6.0.3.1-GTI9300.tar file that you downloaded.
8. Click on 'Start' to flash CWM to your phone.
NOTE: You can see whats happening in the message box in Odin. When the flash completes you should see 'RESET' in the top left the box and your phone will reboot.
9. You now have CWM Touch Recovery permanently flashed

How to Access ClockworkMod Touch

1. Unplug the USB cable.
2. Shut down the phone.
3. Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds to enter Recovery Mode.

Stock Recovery being reflashed after a reboot?
There is an auto recovery restore system on stock roms that will reflash the Stock Recovery on a Stock Rom. If the restore files are renamed then CWM Recovery should not be overwritten after a reboot.

You need to be rooted and then delete or rename the following files:

Root Samsung Galaxy S 3

The root method that we will opt for here will make use of Chainfire’s CF-Root, which is arguably the easiest rooting technique for a huge variety of devices by now. Do understand, however, that while this method is tried and tested, we or the developer cannot take any responsibility for any damage to your device as a result of following these instructions. Proceed at your own risk.

Requirements

Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 (International version) with more than 50% battery remaining, 100% just to be on the safer side of the fence
CF-Root package for Galaxy S3
Odin3 v3.07
Latest Samsung USB drivers (should already be there if you have Kies installed)
Galaxy S3 USB cable for connection

Procedure

Step 1: Download both Odin3 and CF-Auto Root packages from the link above. Extract the contents of the root package to a location of your choice.

Step 2: Launch Odin3, click the PDA button and select the .tar.md5 file that you extracted from the CF Root package.

Step 3: Make sure that Re-partition is unchecked in Odin3, and that nothing is selected in PIT.

Step 4: Turn off your Galaxy S III and put it in download mode by pressing and holding volume down+power+home at the same time, and then pressing volume up for confirmation.

Step 5: With your device in Download Mode, connect it to the PC using the USB cable. If all went correct, Odin3 will detect the device, indicated by a COM address in the top left corner of Odin3.

Step 6: Double check that the correct PDA file is selected and that re-partition isn’t checked, and hit the Start button to begin flashing the rooted kernel.

Step 7: Once the flash is complete, the phone will reboot and enter recovery mode, automatically initiating the rooting procedure. It will reboot once more.

That’s it – your Galaxy S III GT-I9300 is now rooted on the latest XXEMC2 firmware. Enjoy!

Before installing Home you need to ensure that both latest Facebook main app (katana) and Messenger app (orca) are installed... once they are, use this link - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) - to install Facebook Home then activate Facebook Home in the Facebook application's 'Settings' menu.

Don't worry, I have you covered! I've patched the Facebook application to remove the device check. You need to uninstall your existing Facebook, Messenger and Home applications (necessary because the patched versions are re-signed), then install the patched Facebook main app (katana) - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid), the patched Messenger app (orca) - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid) and the patched Home app - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid). CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. Download the ROM + the ICS theme

Download rom from the link above.
Extract the zip. You will find a folder.
Copy the folder to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
Go to CWM recovery
Go to backup/restore option
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Select SuperROM_v1.0_I9100G(for v1.0) or select SuperROM_v3.0 (for v3.0)
Do wipe cache, wipe dalvik-cache and fix permissions
Reboot
Copy the ICS theme.zip to the sdcard
Go to CWM - flash with the zip file
Reboot

Rooting i9100g - kernel + doomlord method

so your earlier methods didnt work - just doomlord does not work - time to go Kernel !

Flashing rooted kernel
Advantages :
 Fast method, CWM support directly assuming the rooted kernel supports it.
 Applicable to almost all stock firmware even up to the latest so far.

Disadvantages :
 A bit dangerous, soft bricked may or may not occurred.
 Without USB jig, warranty will be voided as binary counter is increased and yellow triangle occurred. Without USB jig, only yellow triangle can be removed. Binary counter can only be reset with USB jig and only from old bootloader (KJ2 and lower)

How To :
 Download the rooted kernel
 Superatmos (version 2.1 is very stable and recommended)
 Download Mode : Turn off phone. Hold vol down+home+turn on button. Release the on button after phone is turning on. After a few second, release all buttons. After that vol up
 Run Odin, connect phone with usb cable, yellow COMx will be shown in Odin
 Re-partition should not be ticked (no pit file is required here)
 Select PDA button, choose the downloaded kernel file (usually a .tar file)
 Click Start, a PASS will be shown if succeed
 Result : rooted (Superuser) and CWM recovery

Sometimes the SuperUser just runs off - so after the rooted kernel you need to have the SuperUser injection done >

How To :
 Download the toolkit first (DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit)
 Tick USB debugging (settings->Applications->Development), if unticked before
 Tick Unknown sources (settings->Applications)
 Using windows task manager, "end task" ADB.exe and all KIES related software if running

gigantanormous stadium with palm pillar - reminds of the last wrestlemania they had which had more theme of gladiators....WWE has moved out of the 'characters' to 'person' wrestlers - there are lesser and lesser of these Kane/Taker/Man-Kind - the magicians - no real persons. Bring these kinda characters back - induce more magic....

Customizing the Launcher 7 Shell

once you install Launcher 7 you will be invited with blank main tile space.

go to the right hand apps - hold and 'pin to home screen'

or for special tiles like the Contact Tile, bring options up - 'Add special tile'

Initially Launcher 7 looks very crude and bloated and not smooth.

to tweak that - go into 'Launcher7 settings'

How to connect your Android phone to Corp Wifi

Depending on your Android device you may get web access via Wifi if you can set your Proxy configuration (see at the end). The following steps will enable Exchange sync and other services that do not require proxy access.

Adding PROXY server

1. Under Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-fi settings, from the menu, choose Advanced

2. Set the Proxy to: proxyserver.domain.com

3. Set the Port to: 80

4. If you do not see proxy settings in the menu, try the voice dialer and say "Proxy settings".

This should be all that's needed to connect to WIFI.

(deprecated certificate installation steps)

1. Open certmgr.msc on your corpnet PC.

2. Navigate to Current User -> Personal -> Certificates

3. Click Action -> All Tasks -> Request New Certificate

4. Click Next.

5. Use the default “Active Directory Enrollment Policy” and click Next.

6. Select Authenticated Session_R2

7. Click Details on the right side of this selection.

8. Click the Properties button

9. Go to the Private Key tab

10. Expand the Key Options bar.

11. Select “Make Private Key Exportable”.

12. Click OK

13. Click Enroll

14. You’ll see a new cert in the window now with Certificate Template “Authenticated Session_R2”.

15. Right click that Certificate

16. Select All Tasks -> Export

17. Select “Yes export the private key”.

18. Leave the default options and click Next.

19. It will ask for you to assign a password.

20. Save the key somewhere on disk.

21. Rename the key to a .p12 extension.

22. Connect the Droid to the PC with the USB.

23. Copy the .p12 to the root of the smart card.

24. On the Droid go to Settings -> Location & Security

25. Select “Install from SD Card”

26. Select the .p12 file to install the cert and give it a name.

27. If your correct password is not accepted, try "Importing certificates" below.

28. Now go to Settings -> Wifi Settings

29. Select “CORP-WLAN”

30. For EAP method select “TLS”

31. Leave Phase 2 Authentication as “None”

32. Leave C/A Certificate as “None”.

33. Client Certificate should be the installed cert name.

34. In Identity enter your domain\alias

35. Leave Anonymous Identity blank.

36. For Wireless Password enter your domain password.

37. Click Connect.

38. Proxy Settings (Your Phone May Not Have This.)

You can also use your username and password to connect to CORP-WLAN access point:

1. EAP method: leave as default (PEAP)

2. Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2 or none. I think it depends on which building you are in.

3. CA certificate: leave empty

4. User certificate: leave empty

5. Identity: your domain\username

6. Anonymous identity: empty

7. Password: your domain password

Importing certificates into Android 2.1

2.1 will not let you import chained certs, complaining about incorrect password. Here is a workaround:

openssl.exe pkcs12 -export -out .p12 -in tempcert.pem

Using ProxyDroid (requires root!)

If you don't have access to changing your proxy settings (or only want the proxy settings to apply on corpnet), install ProxyDroid. Connect to CorpNet normally as per the instructions above (no certificates, just the 1-7 above). Then set ProxyDroid as follows to get web, exchange access:

1. Host: proxyserver.domain.com

2. Port: 80

3. Proxy Type: HTTP

4. Auto Connect: Checked

5. Binded Network: CORPWLAN

6. Intranet Addresses: 192.168.0.0/24

7. User: your alias

8. Password: ********

9. NTLM Authentication: Checked

10. Domain: your domain

11. Global Proxy: Checked

12. DNS Proxy: Unchecked

It is too late for this post, but worth wait.

Yep. I was testing the XXLPH for some time and here are the good and bad.

XXLPH - Stock ROM has good things, however there are so many Samsung Apps. I don't like those which utilizes more processing and more memory.

Then I was waiting for Wanam, to post his custom ROM. He released some versions of custom ROM. Finally I was most satisfied with his v9.1 .

Here are the good and bad about WANAMLITE v9.1:

# CRT OFF Animation has a glitch - This is a Kernel Issue, Wanam has nothing to do.
# Email app, now without Security Policies. - Yes we can use office email without PIN Lock.
# Market now as Google Play - Same features , don't see anything new in it.
# TW Launcher Included - Unnecessary, but some body requested.
# APEX Launcher, Nova Launcher and Trebuchet Launcher. - I like APEX.
# Notifications - Quick Panel Settings- Fully customizable.
# ICS Themed.
# Camera Sound Disabled.

# CWM Latest.
# Siyah Kernel - 3.0 with Some improvements ( I don't know what are the inprovements :P)

How to install :

Copy my rom to internal sdcard.
BACKUP.... BACKUP..... BACKUP.....
If you came from a Gingerbread or AOSP Rom or if you use Stock Email, you MUST WIPE your data
Flash my rom from Recovery
Reboot & enjoy, let the phone to boot up, at least 5 minutes to let media scanner finish.

Important : This ROM says No-WIPE, however I would suggest everyone to WIPE Data and WIPE Cache, then install. You will not get any force close for any apps.

MODS:

Default, Galaxy SII has a big icons and big letters. Sometimes it is annoying. So here is a wonderful tool from JRummy. ROMTOOLBOX. There are two versions, FREE and PRO. You can download from Market.

Note: Requires ROOT Access.

Reduce the character size: Open ROM Tool Box -> Performance Tab -> buildprop Tweaks -> LCD Density - > 180 ( Default is 240. You can reduce up to 160 in S2).

If you reduce the Density, phone dialer will reduce the size. So you can use any third party dialers to avoid that.

Our Idiot Brother | 7/10 | wonderfully paced, well acted and is d turning point for Rudd - the asorted actor mix is fun - watch it.

Rare Exports a xmas Tale | 6.5/10 | an unusual twist and local with an ending u will remember for sometime - overdramatic but nice.

Margin Call (2011) | 4/10 | has the same fate as Ides of March - u get distant after characters talk 2 much mumbo jumbo market talk

Killer Elite (2011) | 6/10 | the pace n story is well done, decent acting - gets kinda messy - but well ended - gud trip overall.

The Experiment (2010) | 5/10 | excellent setup, acting, actors, story - ending is abrupt and half baked - sad.

Fright Night (2011) | 6.5/10 | the 80's remake - with disturbia mode and untrust worthy colin farrel makes it a fun time killer

The Debt (2011) | 6/10 | espionage thriller says it all - decent overlaps u can keep up with - bare d slow pace and get gud acting

In Time (2011) | 7/10 | the cars, the concept, the look and feel is totally worth, rest all is a ok, shades of equilibirum (2002)

Exam 2009 | 6/10 | mix saw with cube and 'the experiment' and u get exam - decent thriller - gud flow of story, fast pace.

Final Destination 2011 | 6/10 | gr8 bridge gfx, story feels like the original - a gud watch...some cheesy dialogues

Brooklyns Finest | 5/10 | poor mans departed, gud actor lineup n well placed storylines....just not executed well

Horrible Bosses | 7/10 | ah a worthy comedy after a long haul of slow boring ones.....fast pace, snappy, wow for the characters !
