We have just come back from an amazing whirlwind family adventure! We had 6 adults a 5 year old and an 18month old toddler on this 3 week trip and I do believe that everyone had the best trip, a little something for everyone. Below a photo of one of the many rafting locations held in Ecuador and for those who are a little more experienced, there is always kayaking. Here in Ecuador we have some world class rivers.

RAFTING

This short video shows some of the high points during the first 2 weeks of this family adventure here in Ecuador, I say the first 2 weeks as by the 3 week we were all running from one place to another, so not even the camera man had time to catch the action. However, to end the holiday on a more relaxing note, we made our way to Esmeraldas where we indulged in some fantastic seafood and sipped on pink cocktails whilst enjoying the coastal heat. beach house Ecuador.

OLA Family Adventure

A great place to stay at either the beginning or at the end of an adventure here in Ecuador due to the great surroundings and relaxing environment.

TERMAS PAPALLACTA

Here in Ecuador we have a lot of different Jungle lodges, anything from primary jungle out at Kapawi or close to the andes in Missahualli, where you can get a taster of the jungle. This place sums up the true diversity & beauty of Ecuador.

JUNGLE LODGE

Both you and the young members of your family can have a great time in safe surroundings without missing out on the adventure.

LUCA

But for the more hardy of us, not far from Quito you can have a go at some good mountain training, this can either be a taste of what some people spend their life training for, such as Patricio Tisalema or this could be the first stage of your training in order to climb much higher mountains, of which we have an abundance of here in Ecuador. You could even go for the highest point on the planet from the center of the earth, that being on top of Chimborazo.

RUCU PICHINCHA

<img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3003/2715688268_ac96d60629_m.jpg" alt="Shaman"align="right" />

Some great horse riding can be undertaken here from international show jumping events at a number of clubs to high mountain trekking , something for everyone.

HORSE RIDING

Or why not go for a swim, as you have seen from other events that I have done, this is where I feel most at home, but please if you do have any questions about coming to Ecuador and would like an adventure like this one, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at OLA Adventures.

ARRAYANES

Or if this has still not sold you the idea then have a look at some of the other adventures we run or our photos of Ecuador!

Monday 14th July 2008.
Three of us finally setting off to climb Cotopaxi tonight, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. After a one hour drive from the Hacienda through the stunning Cotopaxi National Park, we find ourselves at the lofty car park. Then a one hour stiff walk to the refugio at 4811m. (some 3 meters higher than Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest mountain). So this is our bed for a short sleep, prior to starting the night climb.

This altitude certainly impedes a decent few hours sleep. We leave for the summit a little later than planned, and consequently meet a couple of other groups making their way down, having been thwarted by the adverse conditions. We battle on. The weather deteriorates. The driving snow induces a wind chill factor of -15degC. However, we finally make it. We are exhausted but amazed at our success. We later take this short video in a protected crevice 150 m below the summit. All credit due to our expert guide Patricio Tisalema Torres. This mountaineering dynamo enabled us to achieve the impossible. If you’re going to climb Cotopaxi, it helps to have an experienced solo non oxygen guide of this calibre. He helped us through every painful step.

My painting has come about after many years of a very intense and stressful career as a financial trader. I now run OLA-Adventures, a tourism company inside of Ecuador, which takes me to far away places where I have found I really appreciate the tranquility that nature has to offer. The paintings that I have produced are a reaction to having been in very stressful and hectic market places, I search for places devoid of stress that are as far from that old life as I can find. On recording these moments, I take a piece of this time with me until the work is finished.

Ecuador has inspired my painting immensely. Due to its location on the equator, it has the most magnificent light that one could ever imagine. Not to mention its vast diversity in terrains which are unequalled in other parts of the world, this gives me the opportunity to paint a variety of landscapes.

Here we have some paintings that some up the light that can be seen at this altitude. Many people say that Quito and it’s surroundings has the most luminosity of all places in the world , this is so true. Like always, I like to think that the paintings have a peace about them. In these paintings below I have incorporated my other style of work, which is much looser and lends itself to the subject matter.

In Ecuador we have some the the biggest and most magnificent mountains in the world.

As you can see below, the world famous Patricio got us up to the highest active volcano in the world, from the center of the earth. Ojos_del_Salado is higher but not as active. What a fantastic experience it was to share this with someone who has so much experience. I do however have to say that this was no easy feat, you can see from past blogs that I am a fit and active person, running marathons and completing high altitude triathlons, but believe me climbing 5897m is hard and it really takes it out of you.

Well as you can see from the photo I made it up to the top and I would just like to say that this was one of the greatest moments of my life. I would also like to say, watch this spot as I feel that a lot more blogs will be going up here in the future about Ecuadors mountains and the great experiences which are waiting to be had.

Below is a great little video that I would love to share with you all, 30 seconds that I will never forget of Ecuador.
Physical rating: 3-5 seeing is believing?.
Adventure rating: 3-5 requires nothing more than inquisitiveness,
Adventure Highlights: Spotting a Pink amazon dolfin. Amazing views. Fresh jungle air, great guides, see all the wildlife and maybe getting to meet the Huarani people themselves. Or go by boat.

Ecuador has a huge selection of multi day expeditions into the jungle areas, some of these on the edge and others in the depth of the virgin Jungle. Being deep in the Jungle is really a special feeling that has to be experienced. Ecuador is one of the few places in the world where it is possible to stay deep in the jungle without a lot difficulty in getting there. Join us for the thrill of being deep in the jungle, feeling life all around you . Ecuador is surrounded by such diversity that it is hard to see everything but I do suggest you try and get at least a 4 day trip into this great jungle lodge. In just one day, it is possible to get you to this most remote and beautiful place.

Below is the 4 and 5 day itinerary in the Bataburo Jungle Lodge. However, it is only with the 8 day itinerary that you get to visit the Huarani village.
