I created this thread today, because I was concerned of the performance hit on using alt+f9 (rebuild). For this specific report, once a user selects a customer, theres really no need for the active form to be rebuilt. I just need certain values recalculated. From some research today I discovered f9(workbook) and shift+f9(activesheet). F9 works, but takes as long as a rebuild for me since I have multiple tabs, and from I've seen shift+f9 doesn't really work for active forms. It just reloads the old value.

Then I decided to create a hyperlink/button to run activesheet.calculate and wow, it works perfectly! Cells recalculated in just over a second! Even recalculates totals!

Found this old thread: http://www.tm1forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=14359 , and in the last post a user states there is an outstanding enhancement request to get shift+f9 to work. This thread is from 2010. Has this request never been answered by ibm? Or am I missing another shortcut?

In the meantime, I did find TM1 Cloud FAQ which interested readers may find useful. The Knowledge Centre also has some introductory information that looks to be recent.

The following are clarified (as of 5 April 2015):

Configuration - Standard offering 64GB Ram, 8 Cores, 200Gb Disk; Single tenant premium 512Gb Ram, 40 cores, 500 Gb disk (Max values, starts low and increased by Cloud Ops)
Environments You seem to get a Production and Non-Production environment on different VMs
Interfaces - RDP/FTP to copy files up to a filesystem share/ftp share
Applications - TM1 Server (core), Web, Applications, Ops Console, PM, Insight
Cloud Control - used to stop/start services
Authentication - Mode 1 - Native unless using Concert/BI then CAM (mode 5), possible linkage to Client's AD using SAML2
Access Control - White-listing of IP addresses
TI-files should reside on Share folder as this is accessible to server and backed up
Connectivity - CAFE remotely, Perspectives/Architect via remote desktop, iPad via contributor App - Knowledge Center has some more on this.

Still looking for a definitive answer on how usage is tracked and then billed...

Cognos TM1 | TM1Admin Server crashses + ntdll.dll

Hello again to all,

A couple of times in the last two months our TM1 Admin Server crashes, overnight, which prevents any TM1 windows services from restarting.

To fix this issue we simply Restart the Actual server where the TM1 services reside. Once the server is back up and running, the TM1 Admin server is up and running as an automatic process.

When we chase the windows event logs, it confirms that an application error occured as well as telling us that it was "tm1admsrv.exe" that crashed.

It also tells us that the faulting module path was the ntdll.dll. A windows System32 dll.

Computer hope tells me that

It also tells me that it was a security threat in 2003, but as long as the have the most recent updates (we are on Windows 2008 R2 and we do update regularly) it will be fine.

Has anybody come up against this before? Your TM1 Admin server crashing and refusing to restart until you restart the actual server?

Has anyone heard of that dll before? When it comes to TM1 or windows as a whole? Does it cause issues for anyone?

If your servers have a different number of cores, are you sure, that you run the same processor architecture with same clocking?
This is the first thing to make sure, as both criteria, cube load and feeder processing, have a direct link to these properties.

Thanks for your response and sorry as i did not provide TI processes. I have 16 TI processes and i simply execute them in a master process with Execute Process TI function.

Security Access has been checked. In log file, I came to know that

=> Process is failing because user has the right of New Jersey Metro only and due to which it can not update New York data. I have created all processes at Region Node (top level) for all child elements (metros). Admin has top level access so it goes through successfully. I presumed that TI process won't

=> Second, Prolog procedure line (63) cell is not writable. Where line 63 is ViewZeroOut(vCube,vView); According to me, As user don't have access to other metro, it won't allow to zero out those metro.

Overall, process are getting failed as user does not have rights of another metro. Basic TI structure,

=> To, get data from the cube for all metros for Version 'Actual' in a text file
=> To ZeroOut Version='Actual 2015' for all metros
=> To upload data from text file to 'Actual 2015' based on 3 key values. If 3 key values are getting matched than sum it up the data for all metros.

" How would we assign the parameter for metro so that based on user workflow process automatically gets the metro name."

Hello again,

It must be the Feeder that is aiming to the String based rule, becuase string cells can be fed, when the syntax and logic is sound.

Have you considered not including FEEDSTRINGS in your rule file? This will eliminate the feeding of string values and depending on how many cells you have that contain strings, may be the better option.

There is a Subset Editor for the Title dimension where specific groupings can be defined

Subsets can be manually created or dynamically defined. A quick search on the forum will point you in the right direction for dynamic subsets.

I am probably missing something here but I would normally have a workbook with high-level detail (source) and another with more detail (target). Source would have the Active Form and an Action Button configured to go to another worksheet
I would configure the button to Look In Applications, point to the relevant File/Sheet.
Using Advanced Options I would change the Source Type to DBRW, Source Object to the Dimension to be picked via SUBNM, Target Type as SUBNM, Target Object as the same Dimension etc.

Clicking on a cell in the Data area then clicking the Action Button opens the target workbook, updates the SUBNM based on the context of the DBRW and refreshes/rebuilds.

Have I missed the boat wrt what you normally do i.e. the purpose and what Tomok is likely tying to solve?

Seems like the way to work within the RFE site is to go there first, log in. Assuming success, your cookies are possibly OK. Come back to TM1Forum then follow the link. Cuts out the annoying 500 Error, log in, backwards then forwards nonsense.

Or alternatively IBM could just fix their sodding website to bring up a login prompt when you try to go to a secured page, thus allowing you to log in and be transported to the intended destination. You know, the way most year 11 computer science students with a copy of "Dreamweaver for Dummies" on their desk could manage.

But based on history I concede that I'm not holding my breath on that one, so your solution is a viable workaround.

I would suggest using 1 or the other as I haven't had CAFE + Perspectives play nice together.

From my observations, you need to "Move or Copy..." the sheet you want.
That has kept the bits & pieces that you need on the new workbook...

In my experience, PersistentFeeders has been very stable. I did have one issue related to a rule/feeder change that didn't correctly invalidate the files, but other than that it's been solid. My start times were in the 40+ minute range prior, now < 5 mins.

Looking at your cube design it seems quite likely that you are treating TM1 as a relational engine rather than a cube-based analytics (OLAP) engine:

-Summarized Measure Dimension - Total Dollars paid to Account, Total Claim Lines

It is entirely feasible to summarise your content, but you will need to take some steps to get there:
- Dimensions you are 'summarising over' need to have a total element. These would be Unique Key, Type of Risk, and Type of Service
- Dimensions which are 'related' need to have structures put in place to do that eg Total Claim Lines in Cube B needs to match to a consolidated element 'Total Claim Lines' in Cube A.
- I'm far from clear how you relate the two date dimensions (and, btw, holding days in a TM1 dimension - if you are - could well be more 'granular' than is really sensible). How do you intend to link Claim Incurred Date to Claim Process Date?
When you've solved these issues, you need to consider whether to use Rules or TI. Personally, I tend to go for Rules on traceability grounds, combining them with TIs to freeze the output from complex calculations across to somewhere that users can analyse quickly. However, if you do, you need to write feeders that work - and from the thread so far, you will probably find that pretty challenging. Since your focus is summarisation, a TI approach is probably preferable. In either case you need to extend the content of Cube A to deliver the numbers which are needed in Cube B. From what I can see it may be better to go back to the business to find out what they are trying to deliver and then redesign:
- Drop the Unique Key
- Include Claim Incurred Month and Claim Processed Month as two separate dimensions in your new Cube A
Then (I think) Cube A, at summary level, should be pretty close to Cube B. You may not even need Cube B as TM1 cumulates on the fly very efficiently.

You can split the workbook into individual books (websheets) and create a navigation between them using the URL api inside a hyperlink() excel function - add an if statement that works out whether they are in the admin group/s and if not use the display name of blank and then they wont get the hyperlink.

You could also do something similar with action buttons.

A comment on the use case however:

Should have replied earlier, but anyway..
We have lots of chores, and we bounce all of our TM1 servers every Sunday anyway.
So using the VBS script provided as a starting point, we have implemented batch scripts that update the .cho files while the server is down.
Based on a parameter, it adjusts the cho start time as needed.
It worked great when starting DST here in the US in March.

It's not just going to cause problems, it's not going to work without some serious jury-rigging. That's because you have to have the elements of the Project dimension in the Personnel cube to make the reference. Absent the Project dimension, he would have to add contrived "Project" elements to either the Type Worker, Type Relation, or Measures dimension. The easiest one would be to add an element to the Measures dimension for each Project and Cost, like Project_A_Cost, Project_B_Cost, etc. Then he could use the SUBST dimension to strip out the Project element and send the correct Measure element to the correct Project. I doubt anyone would seriously consider doing this unless the Project dimension were really small.
