SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher visited the SUNY College at Old Westbury, as part of her continuing mission to visit all 64 SUNY schools. The Chancellor, toured the 604 acre campus with college President Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, followed by a press conference with students, and faculty.

Her speech focused on her mission to develop a strategic plan that will change the "SUNY brand image", and discussed the challenges and issues each school faces. Afterwards, Chancellor Zimpher opened the floor to the audience.

Monday, June 1st, 2009 marked the first official day in office of State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. As part of her first day in office, Chancellor Zimpher held a press conference in which she outlined  a statewide tour of the entire SUNY System. Chancellor Zimpher describes her upcoming tour of the 64 SUNY campuses as a serious step one in strategic planning for the SUNY system. Chancellor Zimpher intends to develop a strategic plan that will outline the goals and aspirations of the SUNY system for the next five to ten years. The second annual Student Media Arts Celebration was held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. The night began with a reception then "The 5 Star Red Carpet Extravaganza" followed by  a dinner in the Student Union. The MAC Awards curtain was raised in the Maguire Theatre, with music by OWWR's DJ Abel, and was hosted by OWWR Station Manager Joseph Manfredi. The night was filled with winners and their amazing work, and with live entertainers including rock band 'Paint the Target', vocalist Sophia Perrin, and dance company HYPE. The Media Arts Celebration acknowledges students who excel in the categories of Journalism, Digital Arts, Radio, Television & Video, and New Media.

The cast and crew of "The Newlyweds" visited OWWR, as they kick off their return to off-broadway, Thursday, May 21st. OWWR DJ's Etan Wishnevski and Jessica Rosengart featured the cast and crew on their show "Uncharted Waves". "The Newlyweds" can be seen at the American Theater of Actors, at 314 West 54th Street, New York.

In it's third time running, this show will make you laugh yet again. It is the story of what happens when a house maid is left to watch over her boss's million dollar estate, and meets a fast talking street hustler pretending to be rich. What happens? They get married for each others money! Shaun Wilson has hit rock bottom. He sees the only way for him to make it, is to find himself a wealthy wife. He meets Mallory Calderone a live-in housekeeper for a billionaire, who happens to be house sitting for two months. They both act as though they are rich and rush to get married, only to find out they both don't have any cash! Can these folks stay together based on the merits of love? Or will their lies and lack of money be the downfall of them.

The State University of New York has announced Dr. Nancy L. Zimpher as its new Chancellor. Chancellor Zimpher held her first live student media web press conference, and student journalists SUNY wide were given an opportunity to submit questions about her goals and intentions for SUNY. More than 59 individuals at nearly 30 locations participated including the SUNY College at Old Westbury's radio station OWWR. Chancellor Zimpher answered questions on a large range of topics such as safety, tuition, budget concerns, and being the first female chancellor.

"I am very grateful to the SUNY Student Assembly for their assistance in making the webcast possible and I look forward to talking with students on a regular basis," said Chancellor Zimpher. "It is a great experience for student journalists to participate in press conferences and it's a wonderful opportunity to talk with these students and carry the message directly to our colleges about what SUNY is doing to help campuses and our students."
