It’s one of my favorite times of the year, Russell Stover Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Heart Season…I mean, Valentine’s Day? All jokes aside, I actually love Valentine’s Day for whatever reason, despite never having a Valentine…

Now, what everyone cares about – the gift ideas! These are great gifts to get your girl, and a few of them work well for galentines too!

Box Fox takes all the guess work out of a clever gift with their pre-curated boxes. The “Pretty in Pink” for Valentine’s Day is super cute and includes a note pad with a gold pen, candy, a candle, and some travel bags.

You can’t do Valentine’s Day without getting a little sexy. The Satisfyer Pro 2 is a toy for her, but they have options for men and couples as well. I didn’t know what to think of it at first – I was intimidated, but it’s now a favorite of mine! I like how it’s wireless, waterproof, and super quiet.

Something a bit sexy without being too blatant are the Unbound Cleo Handcuff Bangles, as featured in my cuffing season post. These bracelets turn into handcuffs in seconds. I really love gold jewelry so I just think these are pretty, although I could do without the inscribed “there is freedom in restraint,” they have other pairs of handcuffs on the site without it.

Lingerie is such a no brainer for Valentine’s Day. My favorite brand by far is Adore Me. You can get your first set for $24.95 through my link. Their unlined bras have become staples in my wardrobe. The Daphne unlined set is my favorite if you’re a bigger busted girl like me looking for an acceptable bralette that is both cute and functional. I have this set in red, nude, and black!

Candles are a favorite of mine year round, so who can forget a roses candle for Valentine’s Day. A Diptyque candle is still on my wishlist regardless of scent, but if you’re a fan of Rose- their fragrances are to die for.

Who can forget about flowers? A life goal of mine is to receive some Venus Et Fleur flowers. Sure, they’re expensive, but since they last a year…you basically get out of buying flowers for every special occasion…right?

Ladies- what’s on your wishlist for Valentine’s Day this year? Let me know below. I’m just wishing for heart shaped pizza.

Also, if you’re into baking like me…here are a few Valentine’s Day baking recipes that are huge crowd pleasers!

Cuffing Season ✨ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2018/01/09/cuffing-season/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2018/01/09/cuffing-season/#respond Tue, 09 Jan 2018 22:12:35 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=8075

A different kind of cuffing season is approaching…Valentine’s Day 😉

While everyone may not be into *that* kind of cuffing, these bangle handcuff bracelets from Unbound are super cute! I can’t find these same ones online, but there are a few similar styles available in gold & silver for those of you with a bit of an edgier style.

Another great gift is a candle…this Annick Goutal Ambre candle is an amazing sexy scent perfect to give to someone for the day of love…I really want to try their fragrances next because the candle smells so great.

I’m working on an official V-Day gift guide full of gifts to give & receive, comment below with what you think should be included! 👇

Artnaturals Bluetooth Diffuser + Essential Oils Review http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2018/01/04/artnaturals-bluetooth-diffuser-essential-oils-review/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2018/01/04/artnaturals-bluetooth-diffuser-essential-oils-review/#respond Thu, 04 Jan 2018 20:46:42 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=7879
ArtNaturals diffuser

Since I’ve moved again I’ve been loving using my ArtNaturals Bluetooth Essential Oil Diffuser. Even though this pic was taken at my old place – it looks great on my nightstand in my new room. This diffuser isn’t only a diffuser- it also has a built in clock and is a bluetooth speaker as well! The best part is that it’s only $39- insane! This, paired with their Top 16 Essential Oils Set has my aromatherapy needs covered.

The diffuser also has a colored light that cycles through a rainbow of colors- you can turn it off as well if you use your diffuser at night, or just want the basic white. It diffuses for a long time, too. If I fill the water up all the way to the fill line, I can let the diffuser go overnight. I don’t think it lasts the full 8 hours, but it goes on for quite a while!

Some of my favorite scents to diffuse are Neroli (from Saje Wellness), Lavender to go to sleep, pine and cinnamon around the holidays, and lemon and sweet orange during the day time. I definitely want to get more scents down the line- what are your favorite Essential Oils to diffuse?

All of the oils are super fragrant and you only need a few drops each time you diffuse. Of course there are tons of benefits of each essential oil if you do some research, but I use them moreso just for the scent and relaxation of aromatherapy.

My only gripes are that it isn’t the cutest diffuser (I’d like something more basic and white), and that it’s kind of large. But, it’s a good starter diffuser that has helped me come to the conclusion that I like having one in my room. I also think this would be nice in a bathroom, but I haven’t put it there yet! It’s a better option than a candle to scent the room, since you’re not always in your bathroom, and, I don’t recommend leaving candles unattended.

Do you have a diffuser? Let me know your favorite oils to diffuse, or if you have any brand to recommend!

Last Minute Holiday Gifting with The Body Shop http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/12/21/last-minute-holiday-gifting-with-the-body-shop/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/12/21/last-minute-holiday-gifting-with-the-body-shop/#respond Thu, 21 Dec 2017 23:33:06 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=8032

I love the holiday season because I love gifts- gift giving (and obviously, receiving) is my top “love language,” so one of my favorite parts about this time of year is shopping for all of my friends and family. I pride myself on giving great gifts, but every year there’s always a few people that stump you on what to get them…and you wait to find something until the very last minute! Whether it’s a not-so-close friend or acquaintance, a distant relative, or a coworker you don’t know really well, sometimes you still want to give a gift, but you don’t necessarily know them well enough to go all out. So, I like to default to bath & body products like these gift sets from The Body Shop.

The Body Shop made my holiday shopping super easy- they have gifts at all price points that are still super thoughtful. Keep on reading to see some of my picks that you can find in-store, since we all know it’s way too late for shipping…oops!

Gifts under $10 – The Body Shop $9 Beauty Treats Sets

These cute as a button gift boxes are perfect for last minute white elephants or gifts for teachers or coworkers! They come with mini shower gels and lotions (or body butter) with a tiny bath pouf. I love the fragrances of these- they’re so good and pack a punch for such an affordable price. There are 10 different scents to choose from!

For the beauty obsessive – The Body Shop Face Masks

I’ve always been intrigued by this line of masks- and they make a great gift because even if you don’t know the recipients skin type, most people can use most asks. A hydrating one during winter, a purifying one during that time of the month…there is always a masking moment to find. Loving the packaging of these as well!

Cute stocking stuffers – Hand creams and Bath Bombs!

For more affordable gifts, look to The Body Shop’s bath bombs and hand creams. They’re the perfect pint sized stocking stuffers! The bath bombs are only $2- so you can grab a few to treat your friends without breaking the bank.

And lastly…for the holiday party hostess with the mostess… a Premium Collection Gift Set!

I love the single scent gifts sets because it lets you match your fragrance from in the shower, to lotion, to even spritzing on a fragrance before you leave the door. The British Rose set must have been popular, because it’s no longer online- but it’s available in 3 other scents and retails for $40, with a $59 value!

I hope these holiday gift ideas help prevent a last minute shopping headache…The Body Shop’s got just what you need!

Dairy Free “Irish Cream” Recipe with Torani Chestnut Praline Syrup + GIVEAWAY http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/12/20/dairy-free-irish-cream-recipe-with-torani-chestnut-praline-syrup-giveaway/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/12/20/dairy-free-irish-cream-recipe-with-torani-chestnut-praline-syrup-giveaway/#respond Wed, 20 Dec 2017 23:08:10 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=8018

Irish Cream has always been a nostalgic drink for me, although I don’t drink it a ton. When I was a kid, my dad used to have Irish cream on airplanes – I thought it smelled amazing and definitely made him let me eat the ice cubes after he was finished on more than one occasion. 🙊 Now, while I don’t have it often, (I’m more of a bar goer than an at home drinker) it’s a wintery drink that I lean on more than, say, eggnog.

If you follow me on social, you know that I recently became lactose intolerant, so I’ve been challenging myself to create non-dairy versions of a lot of old favorites. So, when Torani sent over their new Chestnut Praline syrup- I knew what I wanted to make…something both boozy and dairy free. Traditional Irish Cream has a bit of cocoa in it- which I replaced with the Chestnut Praline, because the nutty and caramelly flavors are perfect for this time of year. You’d be surprised how similar it tastes to traditional Irish cream. I gave some to my parents for a blind taste test and they both said it tasted exactly like it!

Chestnut Praline Irish Cream (Dairy Free) Recipe

  • 1.5 oz Irish Whiskey (I used Powers)
  • 3 oz coconut creamer (I use Trader Joe’s)
  • 4 oz coffee, cold
  • .5-1 oz Torani Chestnut Praline Syrup, to taste

Mix all ingredients and pour over ice.

Torani’s NEW Easy Pour Spout bottles (image provided by Torani)

Torani’s got you covered for the holiday season- the syrups make holiday drink making simple- whether they’re boozy or not! The possibilities are endless. Torani’s original line is made with real, simple, ingredients like pure cane sugar and natural flavors. The sugar free line is sweetened with Splenda-with all of the flavor and none of the guilt.

Lacking in inspiration on what to make? Try my recipe and have #AToraniHoliday at home.

Torani also just launched new 375ml Easy Pour Top Bottles…which 5 of you will have the chance to win! 5 Winners will receive a 3-Pack of  (Regular or Sugar Free) Vanilla, Salted Caramel, and Hazelnut Syrups in the new pour bottle.

I’m hosting the giveaway on my instagram @oliviafrescura this time – so click the link to enter and make sure you’re following me! Giveaway ends January 1 at 12:00AM PST. So enter now for your chance to win! U.S. entrants only.

The December Shelfie: Sunday Riley, Marula, Kristen Ess http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/12/10/the-december-shelfie-sunday-riley-marula-kristen-ess/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/12/10/the-december-shelfie-sunday-riley-marula-kristen-ess/#respond Sun, 10 Dec 2017 21:12:38 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=7982

After the amazing response on last month’s shelfie, I knew I had to step my game up, because…I don’t wanna be a one trick pony! So, I decided to move my shelfie to a medicine cabinet this month. Next month will be different too…I’m moving! I’ll still be doing these monthly (until you guys stop liking them), but with all of the products I’m always trying, I think this is the perfect way to give my quick fire reviews on what I’m currently using!

There’s a *ton* of products this month (it takes a shit ton of products to fill up a medicine cabinet apparently…), so I’ll only be highlighting a few, but comment below if there’s anything you’re curious about and want to hear more on!

Top Shelf:

I’ve been masking with Sulwhasoo a ton lately- I have their whole mask portfolio now from the launch of their new sheet mask that I previewed earlier this month. You may have seen it on my Instagram Stories, but will be doing a review in the near future!

The response to my Juvalips Lip Plumper review was insane- so many of you were into it! I’ve been loving it for getting fuller lips before special events.

The Marula Nourishing Lip Oil is a before bed necessity- I love the cold ceramic tip, and the hydrating formula makes my lips feel so luscious. I also have their beauty oil in the second shelf, and I’ve been loving their essence, which is on the bottom shelf. I’ll be reviewing more soon, but I’ve reviewed the Marula Beauty Oil and a few Marula Skincare Products on the blog before!

If you missed my Patchology CloudMasque review, check it out- this sleeping mask is no joke. I basically use it as a second moisturizer when my skin is feeling dry af.

I love this Bliss Mask-A-Peel Rubberizing Mask…there’s something so pleasing about applying and peeling off an algae mask.

Middle Shelf:

I think this shelf is my favorite. GLAMGLOW has been in rotation for me since I was at their holiday party last month, I’ve been stocked up! Still waiting on that glitter mask though…

Kristin Ess Pomade has been saving my flyaways. I suck at hair so I never thought to use it, but I always have a little fluff ball of flyaways and baby hairs on the top of my head that drives me insane. Applying this really helps.

My most favorite products from the entire damn shelfie are my new Sunday Riley products: Good Genes and Luna. My skin has never looked better, honestly…and I’ll have to save the rest of my thoughts for a blog post. 😉

A new to me brand is 10 Degrees Cooler / Apothecary 90291, an LA based organic skincare line. They sent over a few products including a face and eye oil. I looooove face oils (if you can’t tell by all of the oils in this shelfie), but an eye oil is a new experience for me! Since trying these, I already want so many more products from the line!

Sara Happ has a clay mask for lips. It’s cool as hell. The End.

Bottom Shelf:

I’m loving the Malin + Goetz Cleansing Oil – it’s been a lifesaver at removing pesky mascaras that are hard to remove (like L’Oreal Lash Paradise).

Infusing some cannabis into my beauty routine with Herb Essentls – full review coming soon!

Switched my blow dry cremes out for Kristin Ess Leave In Conditioner and I haven’t looked back since.

Testing Tavi Hair Textura Spray to see how it stacks up to previously reviewed texture sprays…Kristin Ess (my HG), Oribe, and OUAI.

Shop the shelfie:

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Review http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/30/loreal-voluminous-lash-paradise-mascara-review/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/30/loreal-voluminous-lash-paradise-mascara-review/#respond Thu, 30 Nov 2017 23:25:36 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=7962
L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise

Ever since the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara came out it’s been making waves in the drugstore mascara world- I couldn’t stop hearing about it! So, I was super curious for myself as to see what all the hype was about.

From the moment I saw the packaging and wand, it seems to me like it was trying to dupe Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, which is my ultimate favorite mascara- so I had to try this one to see if I could save some money on my mascara.

It has an extremely similar wand to Better Than Sex- an hourglass shape with the same type of long wand bristles. Most of the time the brush is what makes the mascara, as there aren’t a ton of different mascara formulas out there (as compared to other cosmetics).

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise on upper and lower lashes (curled)

Comparing Lash Paradise to the photo from my Too Faced Better Than Sex Review from last year, I’d say they’re pretty darn similar, but my lashes are thicker and blacker with this formula.

My only gripe with the formula, as compared to Better Than Sex, is that this one is drier off the bat- it’s super thick, so it gets clumpy and dries on your lashes fast. Better Than Sex starts off slightly wetter (although it’s still a dry formula), and takes a bit longer to dry out. I’ve been using this mascara for less than two weeks and I already feel like I can toss it soon, because it’s getting a bit hard to cooperate with my lashes. With Better Than Sex, I can at least use it for a full month. I try to use only 1 mascara per month, and not use it longer than that since it dries out…even though they say you can use mascara for 3 months- I feel better safe than sorry!

I like both and would continue to repurchase both mascaras for sure- I always have back ups on back ups of mascara, so it’s not something I have to repurchase too often. But, I can see why there’s so much hype on this mascara, which I would say Lash Paradise is worth. I don’t think I’ve liked or tried a new drugstore mascara as much since CoverGirl Lash Blast was a thing- remember that?

For those reasons, I can’t say I can choose a favorite, as they both have their pros and cons. Sound off below- which mascara would you pick?

Juvalips Electronic Lip Plumper Review (With Before & After!) http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/29/juvalips-electronic-lip-plumper-review-with-before-after/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/29/juvalips-electronic-lip-plumper-review-with-before-after/#respond Wed, 29 Nov 2017 23:27:07 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=7951

A few weeks back I had a dinner event with Juvalips, a new lip plumping device on the market! As you know, I’ve gotten lip injections (twice, actually), so I do enjoy the look of myself with fuller lips. So, I was all ears when I heard about what this little machine does.

Juvalips is a convenient way to get plump lips fast- it only takes a minute or two, depending on how full of an effect you want to achieve. One thing that I like about it, is that it’s safe for people with lip injections. While I wouldn’t recommend using it on freshly injected lips, I use Juvalips just fine on myself, but my lip injections are a year old.

There’s a bit of a learning curve with the machine, as you have to make sure there’s a tight seal in order for your lips to get plumped correctly. But, I got it right on the 2nd try and was loving the results…check out my before and after!

The results don’t last forever- they’re ideal for a night out, but not much beyond that. I’ve been craving  lip injections lately, since I got them done in the late fall for the past two years…but, this year I didn’t really want to drop the money on them (yet). So, Juvalips has really been coming in handy for special events! In the above photo, I only did the Juvalips for one cycle. You can do it twice once you experiment with it and know that your lips can handle it, but overuse can cause bruising. There is a bit of redness after you use it, because of the suction, but it goes away quickly.

Another thing to note – you can share this with friends since it’s easy to clean and comers with removable felt pads!

I like to use this before I apply my makeup, so the suction doesn’t take off my foundation- it’s the first step in my beauty routine. It’s my new not-so-dirty little secret that’s becoming a staple in my nighttime routine while getting ready to go out to bars, or to the many beauty events I go to!

The machine has a soft contoured fit, removable mouth piece for easy cleaning, is super compact for travel, and is simple to use thanks to the button, which provides a consistent suction for 60 seconds so you’re getting the same plumping effect every time.

At $149.95, some may find Juvalips to be a bit pricy, but that’s only a small fraction of what good lip injections cost in Los Angeles…and those don’t last forever! Even if you want to have lip injections, this is a good way to test out how you look with fuller lips without the needle.

Let me know in the comments…is this device something you’d try? I was surprised at how much I’ve been loving it.

Plus Size (Los Angeles) Winter Fashion: Orange Sweater & Distressed Denim http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/28/plus-size-los-angeles-winter-fashion-orange-sweater-distressed-denim-hm-torrid/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/28/plus-size-los-angeles-winter-fashion-orange-sweater-distressed-denim-hm-torrid/#respond Tue, 28 Nov 2017 16:37:23 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=7946

The winter weather in LA has really been confusing. Some days it’s warm, some days it’s cold, some days it’s both. I’m wondering if we’ll ever really get “winter” here! Regardless, one of my goals for the season was to find an orange sweater. I posted a photo on instagram wearing an orange dress and so many of my friends and followers told me I need to wear orange more. Despite it being my favorite color, I don’t wear it a ton. I’m very monochrome.

I made my way to H&M to try to get my hands on an orange sweater after seeing one that I liked online. Turns out the one that I loved was super scratchy, so I scoured the store for any and every orangey sweater that they carried. I think I tried about 5 sweaters on, ranging from orange, to red orange, to burnt orange. Some were super basic, and some were pretty intricate.

I don’t always fit into H&M, being on the cusp of straight sizing and plus sizing…and, my H&M just got rid of their plus size section, 😑 so, my options were limited. I found this red-orange sweater (which looks more red in the above photo)…and I fell in love. It was only $19.99 too! It has this cool pattern that looks more higher end than just a basic knit (in my unfashionable opinion).

I decided to pair it with some boyfriend/distressed jeans that Torrid sent to me for a different twist. Since it still gets hot here, I don’t have to stay completely covered up. These are a bit big for me actually, but it just adds to the slouchy effect. They’re a bit short on me, but I don’t mind, because sometimes I roll the bottoms up a bit.

Then, for shoes, I picked my favorite Steve Madden Briele shoes that are discontinued…I legit bought the last pair in a size 8 from their site! I love these open toed mules with a slight heel…I need to find a good replacement, because once I wear these shoes out I don’t know what I’ll wear!

Shop for a similar look:

I need to get back into posting outfits, because I’ve been liking some of my outfits as of late, I just don’t always have someone to photograph me. Let me know in the comments how you’d style this sweater!

Patchology CloudMasque Review http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/27/patchology-cloudmasque-review/ http://www.oliviafrescura.com/2017/11/27/patchology-cloudmasque-review/#respond Mon, 27 Nov 2017 17:18:15 +0000 http://www.oliviafrescura.com/?p=7941

Patchology CloudMasque is a newly launched sleeping mask that will add a boost to your nightly skin routine. The mask has a whipped texture, which restores skins moisture thanks to ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, retinol, peptides, and 17 plant extracts. I think sleeping masks are great when your skin is feeling dehydrated or flaky and won’t fix itself with moisturizer alone. Go to sleep after applying this mask and wake up with baby smooth skin.

I like to apply this mask after my full skincare routine: serum, moisturizer, and oil. If you’d like- just apply a serum beforehand. But, when my skin is having some issues I don’t mind going big + adding the extra step to my routine. I love CloudMasque because it’s light, glides on the skin smoothly, and sinks in quickly. Head to bed and wake up on cloud 9 with soft skin with no residue! 😍 That’s a huge issue for sleeping masks for me- I have having to wash off residue in the morning, because it kind of tricks you into thinking your face is softer than it really is. But, not the case with CloudMasque!

All of CloudMasque’s key ingredients help to restore skin’s moisture. Hyaluronic acid hydrates skin to improve elasticity, Retinol encourages skin cell turnover, and their peptide complex reduces fine lines and crows feet. There are a lot of plant based ingredients as well, including: jasmine, fig, rosemary, eggplant, and turmeric extracts.

CloudMasque is available now for $40 on Patchology’s site and at NORDSTROM. A $40 mask may have you feeling some sticker shock, but since you aren’t using it every single day (unless you feel like it- in that case, you go girl!) I feel like it’ll last you quite a while.
