There are no free Camp Cedars t-shirts this summer. I will have the Troop 378 t-shirts available at our next couple of meetings, May 21 and June 4. The cost is $10.00 ea. Sizes available are Adult S, M, L, XL and XXL.

1) Monday, May 21 – Last day to turn in any outstanding Merit Badges or complete rank advancements

2) Monday, May 28 – No Scout Meeting – Memorial Day

3) Monday, June 4 – Court of Honor and Friends of Scouting – This is the last COH for the school year. This COH will also include the annual Friends of Scouting fundraiser for the Mid-America Council. Adults, please bring your checkbooks and be prepared to write a donation check to the Mid-America Council for FOS. Remember, if your Company matches your donation, please let the FOS District Representative know that night.

4) Monday, June 18 – Last Troop Meeting of the school year. ALL HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL SIGNED HEALTH FORMS FOR SUMMER CAMP FOR SCOUTS AND ADULTS ARE DUE THAT NIGHT. Remember all Scouts and Adults that attend summer camp must have a new health care provider signed health form on file before you can go to summer camp. No new form on file, no summer camp!!!!!!!.

Change of Date for Court of Honor

Summer Camp Merit Badges

If you were not at the meeting this past Monday, you must be at the meeting next Monday, May 14 to select your Merit Badges for summer camp. I need to get them in the system as soon as possible so scouts can get their first choices for merit badges.

Spring Camporee April 27-29

Dear Troop 378 Scouts & Parents,

This weekend will be a fun camporee. Those scouts attending will earn will get to work on requirements for the Orienteering Merit Badge as well as many requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. SO BRING YOUR HANDBOOK AND COMPASS!.

ORDER OF THE ARROW:

A “Call Out” for the Order of the Arrow (Scoutings Camping Honor Sociey) will be held Saturday night. Those parents that have scouts eligible to be selected are more than welcome to come up and see if they are called out. Those scouts that are OA members please remember to bring your OA SASH

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53.

As usual, it’s going to be wet and cold up at Little Sioux – BE PREPARED!

Things to take:

Class A uniform – Troop 378 wears their Class A when traveling to any camp out, event or activity.

Compass (very important for this camp out)

Sack lunch

Rain Gear!

Second Pair of shoes

Couple pairs of socks

Warm clothing - If scouts do not have long pants and jackets ,they will not be allowed to go! Please be ready to show that they have the proper clothing for this trip Friday night.

It will be cool this weekend. BE PREPARED. Bring warm clothing (layers), two pairs of shoes and rain gear!!!

Departure:

We will meet Friday at the SMM Church (upper lot) at 5:30 PM. Wheels are up at 6:00 PM.

Return:

We will leave LIttle Sioux Scout Ranch Sunday morning and return between 10 – 11:30 AM. Scouts will call when we are getting close to Omaha. We will meet at the SMM School (lower lot) when we return.

Troop 378 Family Niobrara Canoe Trip – Testing the waters for interest (2nd try)

Everyone,

Our Troop 378 family Niobrara canoe trip is tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 1 – Sunday, June 3. Before I reserve the date with the Rocky Ford Outfitters, I would like to see how many are interested in going. The cost is yet to be determined, but generally ranges between $50-75 which includes food, canoe, park fee and our campsite fees. If you are interested in going, please let me know by Monday, April 30.

Spring Camporee 2012

Troop 378 is getting ready to go to the Spring Camporee- this is the last call for those that wish to go. Please respond to tpbegley@cox.net if you’d like to attend. The date is Friday, April 27th through Sunday, April 29th and the cost is $20 per person. This will cover not only food for Saturday and Sunday (bring a sack dinner on Friday) but all the activities for the weekend including a trebuchet contest, orienteering, throwing hawks, jousting and the OA callout.

We also need volunteers to help with Scouting For Food on Saturday, April 21st from 11 AM until 1:30 PM; we’ll be loading a trailer at the Hy-Vee on 51st and Center Street. This is a great opportunity to pick up some service hours and to help the community! Contact Mr. Begley at tpbegley@cox.net if you can make it.

Information: Gregory’s service project will be restoring five wooden picnic tables that were caught in the 2011 floods. Lunch will be provided.
