One of the benefits of waxing is the longer period of time between needing to wax again. Instead of shaving or plucking on a consistent basis, you can wax with long periods of time in between waxings.

The amount of time differs based on a variety of factors, including age, season, hormone levels and genetics. Additionally, if it is your first waxing, you shouldn’t expect immediate results. This is because when first starting there is probably hair underneath the skin growing that hasn’t reached the surface yet, or it is above, but isn’t long enough to be grasped. When cooler weather arrives it seems as though warmer colors are typically the trend with hair color. Red, for instance, is typically fairly popular in the fall season and it’s continuing its popularity through fall of 2012. A flat red color just will not do, so instead try a dimensional red – which is hot this season. Try a coppery auburn look with a hint of some strawberry colors. This look will also compliment most all skin tones. So, if you’ve always wanted to be a redhead but thought it wouldn’t work for you – talk with your stylist!

If blonde is more your color, but you’re not looking for something too bright, try a toffee blonde. This color is a mixture of a honey blonde with ribbons of a toffee color. Maybe try mixing it up with some strawberry highlights.

Maybe, you don’t want to go with traditional and you want to get a little crazy this fall. Why not try blue-black. I know, this maybe sounds incredibly strange, but it’s a black base color with blue highlights. If you can pull it off you will look unique and trendy, but, come in and talk it through with your stylist first.

A less crazy, but still fabulous color this fall is espresso brown.  This color is extremely versatile for many skin tones and low maintenance for those who do not want expensive upkeep.

First, let’s talk about anti-aging skin care. At OHC, our licensed esthetician can help you select a skin care line from our large Bioelements collection. Starting with a basic cleanser, which helps to balance skin’s moisture, is a good start. Depending on your skin type, we can help find the best one for you. For daytime use it’s important to wear a product with sunscreen, which Biolelements carries, but it also has a couple products to give you a boost of O2 and fight aging. Oxygenation is a cream to apply to the face and neck with stabilized hydrogen peroxide and pure lavender oil. It’s perfect for skin dulled by smoking, stress, and aging. This product partnered with Oxygen Cocktail will promote a younger, less lined appearance.

At OHC we can also give you a few tips and tricks with hair that will help give you a more youthful appearance. How about bangs? Sweeping bangs can be worn at any age, helping to hide those annoying forehead wrinkles. Also, with the right cut, they can help enhance facial features like the eyes, which will help make the overall face look younger. Dry and brittle hair can also give an old and un-kept appearance. Try a deep conditioning treatment the next time you come in for a cut. This treatment is affordable and the results leave hair smooth and more manageable. Another unknown ager is product – and no the product in itself cannot make you old. Sometimes, less is more with hair products. Too much gel and hair spray can give hair a stiff and dated look. Osis Dust-it: The tiny bottle of powder is extremely powerful. Just a little shake of this product at the scalp (when hair is dry) will make big hair a snap. The lightweight powder creates a dry, light hold that creates volume by just using fingers to agitate hair at the scalp. If hair goes flat by the afternoon, just use your fingers again to create more volume.

BIOMEGA Up All Night Volume Foam: This product works over time for maximum body and lift. Apply to hair when wet and evenly distribute throughout, blow dry hair out by section from the roots to the end until hair is dry. It not only creates a firm, flexible hold, but also nourishes hair and has UV protectants to help keep color vibrant.

Bobby Pins: A handful of bobbies won’t take up any room in your hair emergency kit. And depending on the emergency, this may be the only thing you need to solve your crisis.

Hair Bands: Bun, braid, ponytail – you really need to have one of these babies on hand at all time. When all else fails – just pull your hair back.

So here are a few tips and tricks just for you men:

2-in-1 products have got to go. Let’s face it, most men like convenience and simplicity so they would prefer to use one instead of two products in the shower. This includes both the 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioners and using your Dove soap bar as a 2-in-1 body and hair wash. If you do not take care of your hair with the proper product it leads to dandruff, inflamed scalp, brittle hair and hair loss.

Let your hair dry before you go to sleep. When hair is short, it doesn’t take much time to let it dry before resting it on a pillow for the night. If you don’t wait you will wake put massive bedhead, flat spots and parts that make it look as though you are balding. Also, pat hair dry with a towel – do not rub with a towel. This is one of the biggest causes of hair damage.

You can go overboard on styling products. Men like their hair gel and, believe it or not, you can use too much product. Try a styling mouse, a water-based hold spray or water-based gel to hold hair in place.

Eat right and stay healthy. A healthy diet and an active lifestyle is one of the best ways to nourish your hair. Hair is largely protein so eat your meat, dairy and soy. Also, omega-3 fatty acids in fish and nuts are helpful.
