Quite unfortunately his own colleague celebrities did not turn up at the awards event with even a piece of his much talked about ‘Sark’ clothing especially as many take advantage of the red carpet of the show to outdoor and talk about their ‘most cherished’ clothes.

I doubt his bodyguard who was on the red carpet with him clothed himself in any of the Sark outfit. Sarkodie however did himself the grace by getting Sark’d up from head to toe.

Since lots of the celebs were present at the launch of Sarkodie’s ‘Sark’ collection weeks ago and even some trooping into the shop to buy a few of the clothes afterwards, I thought it would only be fair see at least one of them proudly say “Am wearing something from Sarkodie’s Sark designs” but nothing of that sought.

Getting a pair of Sark Jeans at GH¢250.00, Belt for GH¢ 150.00 and Cap for GH¢ 100.00 shouldn’t be much problem in my view for any of those who preferred a foreign taste of clothing to a local one.

Ghanaian celebs, next time help a brother when you get the chance. Sark is local and proudly Ghanaian.

This comes in response to the many hits against the artiste that the price of his Sark products was just too expensive and unaffordable.

Sarkodie was speaking to Aphrodisiac’s Confidence Haugen who hosted him on the Red Carpet of yesterday’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

In his explanation, Sarkodie said he understood the frustration of some Ghanaians but the price was mainly because of the quality of the products and also because of how limited he and his team intended to have the current stock in circulation.

Inferring from his brief statement, Sarkodie’s idea was to increase the worth of his products by making sure it was not as common as any clothing one could easily find and buy.

The rapper who was all ‘Sarkd’ up himself from head to toe at the event said the team were still working on a plan to get other Sark clothes out which are going to be very affordably to the ordinary Ghanaian.

Concluding, Sarkodie asked his fans and indeed all Ghanaians to look out for more from him and products under the ‘Sark’ name because he had a long term plan and eventually have a company that was going to be very far away from just vanishing or dying off the scene.

Samini’s offence? He wore a hairstyle that was as tall as the World Trade Centre! Some audience behind him just couldn’t get a full and clear view of what was happening on stage due to this.

The ‘Linda’ hit maker was trying to portray the true African and for that matter Ghanaian but it turned out to be an object causing obscurity to some audience at the conference center.

Emmanuel Samini, please try keep it low next time.

The artiste he seemed extremely sad and frustrated he had once again returned home without an award after receiving one nomination took to facebook while the show was ongoing to declare he was no longer interested in winning an award in Ghana.

Formerly called Bandana, the artiste has been on Ghana’s music scene for quite a number of years but haven’t made much in terms of picking awards at the nation’s biggest music awards event.

Shatta Wale had this to say after he missed the Reggae/Dancehall Song of The Year to Kaakie:

I don’t need any award in Ghana from now on again cuz I been disgraced too much in Ghana music industry and my fans are not happy about it and I mean it from my Heart…big up every Shatta wale fan.

Christened Nii Armah Mensah, Shatta was consoled by the many fans who commented on his post of regret to take it easy.

As at now, one thing remains for sure and that is Shatta Wale has refused to take any award in Ghana. It seem to him he is only up as a nominee with no prospect of winning which makes him feel so embarrassed.

The landing gear on his turboprop twin-engine plane just wouldn’t go all the way down. So with some quick thinking and righteous piloting skills, he went in for a wheelless, sparky touchdown, and pulled it off without a hitch.

After trying the landing gear a bunch of times and failing to get it fully deployed, the pilot—named Edward Powers according to witnesses—decided that a carefully controlled skid was the way to get out of the sky safely and minimize any dangerous veering on the runway. In perparation, he circled Newark airport until he was out of fuel, to minimize the chance of a fire, and took her down with all due care. A nearby air traffic control tower caught the footage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=iqJfGTCb7M8

It’s hard to make out much more than the rain of sparks, but there were plenty, and the plane was accordingly doused in foam the second it came to a stop. But thanks to Powers’ fuel-burning circles and piloting skills, there was no fire at all. In fact, there weren’t even any injuries among the 34 passengers and crew.

A spokesman for US Airways told The Daily Mail that the NSTB will be looking into the cause of the incident, but also gave Power’s some well-earned compliments:

The landing of the aircraft on the ground safely is testament to how well our crews are trained. They are trained to think quickly and assess the situation and act with the utmost professionalism.

Or in other words: “Awesome job, you badass.”

It makes quite a bit of sense that the man who stole from Ghanaian taxpayers, by grossly over-charging the government for his cement blocks for the construction of the Bui Dam, should be calling for KPMG auditors to be given a bodily search before being allowed onto the premises of the Supreme Court to re-count pink sheets submitted by the main opposition New Partiotic Party (NPP), in vehement contestation of the declaration of President John Dramani Mahama as winner of Election 2012 (See “Search KPMG Officials Before Audit – General Mosquito Advocates” MyJoyOnline.com 5/10/13).

You see, I would be quite worried if the man had credibility. Indeed, what Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia ought to be doing presently is to be explaining to the Ghanaian public why the Mahama government attempted to strong-arm the Supreme Court Registrar into handing over keys to the vaults containing the pink sheets to agents of the National Security Agency for “safekeeping.”

By the way, this is the same agency that sat duck while several biometric voting machines went missing in the wake of Election 2012 and the decision by the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party to legally contest the integrity and validity of both the election results and the declaration of Mr. Mahama as the clear winner of the same.

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia

The Gbevlo-Lartey Gang has also sat duck while several pink sheets were squirreled into hiding and their particulars – or details – falsified by agents in the pay of both the Afari-Gyan-led Electoral Commission (EC) and the Mahama-led government of the so-called National Democratic Congress.

Maybe somebody far more enlightened and expert in the business of accounting and auditing, like Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, ought to open the “cataracted” eyes of Mr. Asiedu-Nketia to the sterling professional standards that are the hallmarks of KPMG. Indeed, the NDC general-secretary has absolutely every right to speak his mind; but he equally ought to be reminded of the fact that he has absolutely no right to pretend as if his clinically regressive mental state is either the national norm or more typical of the proverbial Ghanaian personality than not.

For instance, what does the Seikwa, Brong-Ahafo, native mean by his assertion that “a thorough search of the officials who will be assigned to do the counting is the only way [that] Ghanaians would accept the outcome of the audit”? And just exactly which group and what percentage of Ghanaians does Mr. Asiedu-Nketia presume to represent? And precisely what ground rules has he or the party that he represents established for the kind of “thorough search” of the KPMG auditors that he has in mind?

Of course, he is darn right to observe that the outcome of the Akufo-Addo-led petition “could affect the presidency,” but such outcome will definitely not be dependent on whether Messrs. Akufo-Addo, Mahamudu Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey submitted 11,842 pink sheets or 8,000 pink sheets, as claimed by Mr. Tsatsu “The Thief” Tsikata, counsel for the National Democratic Congress.

Rather, the decision of the Atuguba-led panel of Supreme Court jurists is far more likely to be predicated on the extent to which the petitioners have been able to forensically and objectively establish the fact that, indeed, Messrs. Dramani Mahama and Afari-Gyan colluded to rig Election 2012 in favor of the former. And so far, televised evidence presented by the primary petitioners to the global community points directly to the fact of Election 2012 having been “thoroughy” rigged in favor of President Mahama.

Invasive fire ants have been a thorn in the sides of Southerners for years. But another invasive species, the so-called “crazy” ant — that many describe as being worse — has arrived and is displacing fire ants in several places.

“When you talk to folks who live in the invaded areas, they tell you they want their fire ants back,” said Edward LeBrun, a researcher at the University of Texas at Austin, in a statement from the school. “Fire ants are in many ways very polite. They live in your yard. They form mounds and stay there, and they only interact with you if you step on their mound.”

Crazy ants, on the other hand, “go everywhere,” invading homes and nesting in walls and crawlspaces, even damaging electrical equipment by swarming inside appliances. [Image Gallery: Ants of the World]

A study published in the April issue of the journal Biological Invasions found that in areas infested with crazy ants, few to no fire ants were present. Exactly how they are able to outcompete fire ants is so far unknown. In areas with crazy ants, the researchers also found greatly diminished numbers of native ant species, according to the study.

Fire ants are known for their painful stings and have spread through the Southeast since arriving from South America in the 1930s. Crazy ants were first discovered in Houston in 2002, and they have already spread to coastal areas from Texas to Florida, according to the researchers. Although the “crazies” don’t have as painful a sting as fire ants, they multiply in even greater numbers. They are also difficult to control since they don’t eat the same poison baits as fire ants do, the statement noted.

Last year, the crazy ant species was identified as Nylanderia fulva, which hails from northern Argentina and southern Brazil, according to a 2012 study in PLOS ONE. It’s also known as the tawny crazy ant and was previously named the Rasberry crazy ant after the exterminator Tom Rasberry, who first discovered it. The “crazy” moniker comes from the ant’s quick, seemingly random movements.

Luckily, the crazy ant doesn’t spread as quickly as the fire ant, advancing only 650 feet (200 meters) per year on its own, the release noted. Therefore, it’s vital that people don’t accidentally transport the ant, the prime method by which it has spread, according to the release.

Fast rising Nollywood actress, Beverly Naya, is known for turning heads at red carpet events. She tells Ademola Olonilua about her fashion style.

What were your early days like?

Both my parents are British; my mother was actually born there. I was born and raised in London. Growing up was fun for me. I am an only child, so it was relatively quiet. It was not really boring for me because I have a lot of cousins, they are more than 20. I cannot even count. I always found myself hanging out with them because a lot of them live in London and in America, so there is always something to do.

Why did you decide to come to Nigeria?

I came to Nigeria because I love acting and the country has a thriving industry, Nollywood. It provides me with the opportunity to act as often as possible. That is the main reason.

Have you ever faced sexual harassment in the industry?

There was no sexual harassment for me, not at all. I have not experienced it and I do not think I ever will. My experience since getting into Nollywood has been a positive one. I was fortunate enough to work with veteran actors and directors as well. I think I have had a good experience and it can only get better. I like to have a good rapport with everybody I’m working with. I like to be professional to the core. Most of the directors and producers I have worked with have a really good relationship with my mother. She is my manager. So, that helped the situation a great deal. They all respect my mother and we all have a family type of relationship, so to them, I am like a little sister.

How is it working with your mother?

It is fun working with her. Sometimes, it feels like I am on my toes because I just don’t want to disappoint my mother or parents in anyway. Because I am an adult and I have my way of doing things, then maternal instinct and mummy would be like ‘no I don’t think this is appropriate’, so that could clash with what I have to do. I don’t pay her, but I spoil my mother. She wants a holiday, massage, anything she wants she gets. So far as I can get it for her, it is hers. I appreciate her a lot. I am a mummy’s girl.

How do you come up with outfits for an event?

I like to stand out. I like to look nice; I always say I don’t just want to turn heads, I want to break necks. With that in mind, whatever I wear has to look nice. It has to be captivating and attract people in the right way. That is basically how I come up with my looks. I also work with some fashion designers who are always ready to style me and make sure I look my best at any event. The glittering dresses I wore were April by Kunbi. That is her signature. Whenever you see me wearing something that is slightly glittery or something like that, it is most likely an April by Kunbi gown.

How long does it take you to dress up?

Well, I think of the dress I’ll wear for an event two weeks before the date. I have to know what I am wearing like two weeks before. If I include taking my bath, getting dressed and doing make-up, I’ll say that takes me about two hours. I am not vain but it is necessary to look good. Looking at the mirror to asses myself takes about two minutes.

Did you see yourself as a beautiful person while growing up?

I got bullied a lot as a kid. I was an ugly duckling. I never thought I was pretty, I never felt pretty. I got bullied around during that time. I blossomed when I was 17 years old. All of a sudden, I had this attention coming from the opposite sex like I had never received before, like boys having crushes on me. It is a contrast coming from the fact that when you are young, nobody really appreciates you. It has made me become who I am today. Maybe that is why I am so confident when I step out on the red carpet or why I am so fashion conscious today. You know what it is to be bullied for most of your formative years. It is not easy. I think that is probably why I love kids so much; sometimes, they do not say what they are thinking. There are kids out there that are being bullied and I love kids to open up to me, teenagers and kids alike. We can be friends and I’ll always be there for them. I can be a mentor to them, in that regards I am there for kids.

Who was the first guy you had a crush on?

It was when I was in college. He was really handsome, tall dark skinned and had the most beautiful eyes. I am blushing by just remembering him. He was very very handsome. That was my first real crush. We talked and ended up being in a relationship, so it worked out just fine. My first celebrity crush however was Sisquo. I had the biggest crush on Sisquo when I was young. The crush is dead now. When I think about it, I want to throw up. There is no crush for him now; I don’t feel anything at all. Before, it was really bad. I had about 300 posters of him. It was really bad. I don’t even know how my crush got that crazy.

How do you cope with advances from men?

It is always flattering just to be appreciated for your looks or your talent but I don’t let it get to my head at all. It bugs me when the man is too persistent. I have had some experiences, situations where the man would ask for my number, I would say I wasn’t unavailable. They say please I would really like to get to know you and I say I have a boyfriend and they say ‘you do, but can I get to know you anyway?’ Men need to understand that ‘no’ means ‘no.’ I am not trying to be disrespectful; it is just me trying to move on with my life without you, nothing personal.

What is your fashion weakness?

I love shoes. I have a pair of shoes that just came out; I saw them on Rihanna and I just had to have them. That is about my most expensive pair of shoes, it was made by Louboutin. It has a bright electric blue colour and they cost over £1,000. I have never worn them. I doubt if I’ll ever wear them because they are so hard to wear. They are bright blue, electric blue and it it’ll be difficult to pair that with an outfit. So, I have never worn them for that reason. You may call it a waste of money; at least I know Rihanna has it.

What are the fashion errors that irk you?

I hate camel toes. I hate when a girl wears leggings and they are too tight and then you see a camel toe. That is really an eyesore and I don’t like it. Especially when the leggings are really bright, that makes it worse.

Did you and Uti ever date?

We are not dating. Uti and I are nothing more than just friends. My boyfriend did not like the rumours. He did not find it funny. You cannot just be in a relationship and your lover is reading things like that about you with somebody else. Jealousy will definitely set in because he is romantically linked with you and nobody would appreciate that. You really have to prove that really there is nobody else except that person you are with.

Describe your dream man

My dream man should be basically tall, handsome, ambitious, God-fearing and knows how to treat a woman.

What is your selling point?

If it is physically, I do not know but I get compliments on my eyes and my lips a lot. So, I’ll say maybe that is what it is, but I don’t know. I’m a very good kisser though.

A sheep gave birth to a dead lamb with a human-like face. The lamb was born in a village not far from the city of Izmir, Turkey.

Erhan Elibol, a vet, performed a caesarean on the animal to take the lamb out, but was horrified to see that the features of the lamb’s snout bore a striking resemblance to a human face.

“I’ve seen mutations with cows and sheep before. I’ve seen a one-eyed calf, a two-headed calf, a five-legged calf. But when I saw this youngster I could not believe my eyes. His mother could not deliver him so I had to help the animal,” the 29-year-old veterinary said.

The lamb’s head had human features on – the eyes, the nose and the mouth – only the ears were those of a sheep.

Vets said that the rare mutation most likely occurred as a result of improper mutation since the fodder for the lamb’s mother was abundant with vitamin A, CNNTurk.com reports.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com Rex Omar, who is in charge of Business Development for MUSIGA, confirmed the information adding that this is a little contribution from MUSIGA to compliment the efforts of the organizers and encourage the musicians to do good music.

“This is an initiative by MUSIGA. It is starting this year and it is going to continue every year. We have been trying to make this possible and thank God it has become a reality. This shows how MUSIGA is committed to changing the life of Ghanaian musicians and the music industry as a whole and we are still working”, Rex disclosed.

According to Rex the car which is a latest Rover saloon car will be presented by MUSIGA to the winner of the topmost category only if the winner is a registered member of the union with good standing. He added that in a situation where the winner is not a member of MUSIGA, the artistes would be given a one month grace period to register and become a member of MUSIGA before they would qualify to take the car home.

Rex also disclosed that the car does not affect the already established GH¢10,000 cash prize that comes with the artistes of the year category. In effect, winner of VGMA 2013 Artistes of the year will take home GH¢10,000 and brand new 2013 Rover car among other goodies.

However one car would be given to the winner every year whether they are a group or a solo artiste. The car by is courtesy of Midland Savings and Loan and Fairllop International Limited.

(PolicyMic.Com) – Ladies of New York , you are free to walk bare-breasted through the city! New York City’s 34,000 police officers have been instructed that, should they encounter a woman in public who is shirtless but obeying the law, they should not arrest her. This is a good step towards gender parity in public spaces.

This decision means that breast exposure is not considered public lewdness, indecent exposure, or disorderly conduct. It also notes that, should a crowd form around a topless woman, the officer should instruct the crowd to disperse and then respond appropriately if it does not. Relative coverage is no longer a factor.

This policy shift comes after several years of litigation and protest. In the 1992 case People v. Ramona Santorelli and Mary Lou Schloss, the New York Court of Appeals ruled in favor of two women who were arrested with five others for exposing their breasts in a Rochester park, holding the law void as discriminatory. The ruling was put to the test in 2005, when Jill Coccaro bared her breasts on Delancey Street in New York, citing the 1992 decision, and was detained for twelve hours. She subsequently successfully sued the city for $29,000.

In 2007, Go Topless, a national organization supporting gender equality in shirtlessness laws, established Go Topless Day. Dozens of women protest – often topless – in thirty cities around the United States, promoting equal rights to be shirtless. Protests usually include chants of “Free your breasts. Free your minds” and a song “Let ‘em Breathe” to the tune of the Beatles’ “Let it Be.”

While some who have witnessed these events have suggested that “[t]his is extreme liberalism and why America’s in decline” or “[i]t’s degrading to women,” others have been supportive. One man even said he would encourage his wife to join them.

Though bare-breasted women might shock the sensibilities of some in the public, it is encouraging to see the police responding positively to gender bias, even on such a seemingly small scale. After all, no one thinks twice about a man shirtless on a summer day. However, the female nipple or chest is still considered “lewd.” By reminding its officers of this, the NYPD is publicly declaring that it will no longer perpetuate unconstitutional gender discrimination, a standard to which all law enforcement should be held and a decision for which it should be applauded.

Footage of the protesters can be found here (NSFW)

The actress was lambasted by many movie critics, who condemned the film and also Tonto for her role in the film.

In the said movie, Tonto Dikeh interpreted her role like someone, who is well grounded in the act she was acting in the film. She acted the role of a spoilt child, who sleeps with her father and her boyfriend.

Her father, played by Jibola Dabo, was a gynandrous, who also sleeps with his daughter’s boyfriend played by Muna Obikwe. At a point in time, they all had a trio. Apart from the storyline, the three major acts played their roles like a smut movie.

But in a recent interview, Tonto revealed why she agreed to act in the film and interpreted it well. The Ikwere, Rivers State-born celebrated actress disclosed that she agreed to play the role because it was a true life story of a girl.

Tonto said she met with the person the storyline talked about. “Actually, that’s a true life story,” she revealed. “I met the girl it happened to and that’s why I agreed to do the movie,” she added
