This position provides customer service of the highest quality to OMSI's Members through on-site service in the Membership Window. Provide support in all aspects of membership sales and fulfillment. 

DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp;amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Promote and sell memberships to visiting guests

*Provide service to existing visiting members including account maintenance, card re-issues, renewals, additional ticket sales to all of OMSI's attractions not covered by membership, and general information to facilitate their visits to the museum

*Verify membership information and member identification at check-in station 

*Process 95% of onsite membership applications

*Answer/return calls from membership service hotline. 

*Cash handling, credit card processing and data entry

*This position is non-exempt, paid hourly. 

*This position is regular, part-time scheduled for 20 hours/week.

Working Conditions: 
 
*Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays

*Physical Demands:  50% Sitting    45% Standing    5% Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling 10-30 Pounds

*Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), depth and perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eyes to bring an object into sharp focus). 

*Normally Moderate noise level (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic) and  occasionally loud (examples: metal can manufacturing department, large earth-moving equipment)

*Assist with member and donor events.

*Special projects as assigned.

*Plays active role in achieving museum-wide Visitor Services objectives, including interdepartmental cross training and support of Program Sales efforts as needed.




QUALIFICATIONS

<title><![CDATA[Outdoor Science Instructor - Hancock Field Station  - Fossil, OR]]></title>

The Outdoor Science Instructor teaches concept-based outdoor science education in the field.  This position requires living on-site during the spring and fall at one of OMSI's 3 outdoor science schools: Hancock Field Station, Pacific Marine Science School or Santiam Science School. During the summer, instructors travel with students across the Pacific Northwest, teaching week-long residential science camps. Work schedule depends on the site and programming needs.

DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp;amp; RESPONSIBILITIES: 
"Performing the following will involve driving to various locations outside OMSI's corporate headquarters:"

*Responsible for teaching concept-based, natural science curriculum, utilizing a mix of outdoor and classroom settings for students K-12.

*Prepare daily lesson plans and create small teaching tools as needed to enhance personal teaching style.

*Organize, assemble and maintain equipment and teaching supplies for the program.

*Lead summer traveling programs including driving a van or bus, teaching, preparing meals and campsite set up/breakdown to ensure a healthy and safe program for all participants.

*Responsible for driving campers to field locations throughout programming.

*This position is exempt, paid by a day rate.

*This position is special project, scheduled for 40 hours/week June through November.

Working and Living Conditions:  

*Requires on-site living, including shared staff quarters.

*Room and board provided during days with programming; room only during non-programming days between back to back groups.

*Extended hours and occasional weekends required. (American Camp Association time off standards will be met (2 hours off daily, and 24 hours or more off each two-week block)). 

*Must be physically able to lead students in hikes of up to 10 miles in a day.

*Work environment includes all season outdoor weather conditions. 

*Must have visual, perceptual, cognitive and judgment ability to: recognize hazards in the camp setting, physical symptoms of injury or illness; respond verbally to health and safety concerns and to deal appropriately with any improper behavior.

*Vision requirements include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), color vision (the ability to recognize the colors of traffic signals and devices showing standard red, green, and amber), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left or right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth and perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eyes to bring an object into sharp focus). 

*Noise level is very quiet (examples: forest trail, isolation booth for hearing test) to loud (examples: metal can manufacturing department, large earth-moving equipment).

*Physical Demands: 5% Sitting, 30% Standing,   20% Walking,   45%Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling Pounds  5 - 80 lbs

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

*Logistics and facility support includes driving, food service, minor site and vehicle maintenance, cleaning and other tasks deemed necessary for successful camp operation by the manager.

*Coordinate with other instructors in program planning and implementation.

*Provide first aid care to participants and staff when necessary.

*Incorporate adult chaperons and teachers into the program as teaching assistants who are also learners.

The Campaign Manager provides staff support behind the scenes to ensure campaign activities are completed and cabinet members and top professional leaders supported. The Campaign Manager also carries a personal portfolio of up to 40 major donor prospects (each rated at $5,000 or higher).

The Capital Campaign Manager will also participate in programs/initiatives to enhance corporate culture, such as:

*Working effectively with and supporting volunteers throughout the organization

*Supporting OMSI's Total Guest Experience (TGE)/Customer Service mission &amp;amp; objectives in daily job performance, including diversity initiatives  


DUTIES

*Working with counsel and reporting to top development staff, manages all aspects of the capital campaign and implements activities to complete the approved campaign plan 

*Acts as primary support for scheduling, planning, and supporting campaign cabinet meetings, ensuring meeting agendas and materials are well prepared, leaders are briefed in advance, and assignments are tracked and carried out 

*Manages prospect engagement and moves management process, including maintaining prospect list; recording ratings, engagement plans, and assignments; and managing moves of assigned volunteers and professional leaders 

*Coordinates development of campaign collateral materials 

*Provides staff support to help cabinet members and top professional leaders prepare for and follow up on each of their donor briefings, events, and solicitations

*Carries a personal portfolio of up to 40 major donor prospects (each rated at $5,000 or higher)

*Coordinates production and delivery of proposals to each prospect 

*Compiles, updates, and maintains prospect and donor lists

*Maintains campaign fundraising report (aka dashboard) and ensures its accuracy and timeliness

*Oversees donor acknowledgments, pledge billings, and benefit delivery

*Works with other development team members and other departments within OMSI to ensure that campaign-related planning and communications are accurate and timely

*This position is exempt, paid salaried.
*This position is regular full-time, scheduled for 40 hours/week.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is seeking an Evaluations Assistant. The Evaluation Assistant provides assistance on evaluation and visitor studies activities. The ideal candidate will support ethical treatment of human evaluation and research subjects. Complete related training as required. Assist in the development of evaluation instruments. Participate in the preparation and execution of data collection and analysis activities including literature reviews, data collection, and data analysis as assigned. Compile preliminary evaluation findings.

DUTIES

Candidates must be able to assume some evening, weekend, and holiday work. Serve as a team member on OMSI projects and committees as assigned. Strong oral and written communication skills appropriate to the position. Candidates will have the ability to interface well with fellow paid and unpaid staff, audiences, and partners in professional, education, and evaluation settings. Possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills as appropriate to the position. Ideal candidates will have the ability to effectively work independently in completing assigned project tasks and to collaborate with teams on multiple, simultaneous, diverse tasks with a concern for accuracy and presentation. Includes ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines. Candidates will have basic knowledge of experimental design and data collection methods, qualitative data collection methods and analysis, and an understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics.
Hands-on experience with word processing, spreadsheet analysis, database management, statistical software, computer graphics, and electronic data collection tools and demonstrated proficiency with at least two of these software types. Flexibility to modify work schedule such as working extended hours as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

Successful Candidates will have these addition skills: basic understanding of audience research, cultural accessibility, physical accessibility, and safety. Basic understanding of museum experiences (exhibits and programs) and the science, technology, engineering, and math learning involved. Bilingual preferred - English and Spanish. Bachelor's degree, preferably in sciences, behavior, museum studies, education, communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
