It always brings a smile to my face.
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. ~Psalm 34:8
I've been looking into getting a baby wrap. There seems to be 2 kinds woven or stretchy. I ordered a stretchy one, the Sleepy Wrap and decided that I would try to make my own woven wrap. Well today I was blessed with the fabric I needed to make a woven wrap! A friend gave me a large bag full of fabric and inside was 6 yards of the stuff I needed. I cut it promptly tried it out and I loved it! Then just a few hours later when the mail came my Sleepy Wrap came in the mail. So I switched wraps and tried it out. I love them both!

There are pros and cons of both but to me they are slight.

Sleepy Wrap Pros
The fabric is soft and what I call "snuggly". My baby went right to sleep when in it.
You can pre-tie it and don't have to untie to remove the baby very simple in and out!
Easy tie instructions.
Gives more freedom during nursing. Which is the best pro for me!!
Love how it evenly spread the weight.
Nice price, free shipping and awesome return policy!
Gives me more cuddle time with my little guy while still doing housework and taking care of my 3 girls.

Woven Wrap Pros
The fabric is light weight and was cool.
Gives more freedom during nursing. Which is the best pro for me!!
Love how it evenly spread the weight.
It was free!!
Easy to tie.
Gives me more cuddle time with my little guy while still doing housework and taking care of my 3 girls.

Sleepy Wrap Cons
The fabric was a little bulkier than the woven wrap.
It was also a little warmer than the woven wrap.

Woven Wrap Cons
Can't be pre-tied.
Need to untie it all to get the baby out.

As you can see the pros definitely outweigh the cons with both wraps. Of course since this is the first day I have had and tried them both this is just my opinion of them after one day. I'm looking forward to taking them both on trips and using them!

It's been a long time...

...since I've last posted on my blog. I sort of lost interest after awhile plus I became really busy with life. One super big event happened during this past year, the Lord blessed us with a baby boy. Yep, you read right a BOY after 3 girls. He's been such a sweet baby and everyone in the family loves this new addition!

Another addition happened to our family, we decided to add a dog to the mix. Chris (Christmas Candy Cane, bet you can't guess who named him! lol) is a mini-Australian Shepherd.

He is twice this size now. I just haven't taken a picture of him recently.

I'm going to be reformatting the look and content of this blog slightly. Turning it into our family blog. It may take a little while because I'm still pretty busy but I work best late at night. lol

Hot, Themed Birthday Parties

It's been unusually warm the last few days (but I've loved it!). And with the inlaws in town it's been unusually busy. Today was another busy day. Visitation in the AM and then a birthday party about 20 minutes away and 10 to 15 degrees hotter.

The party was fun. It was a Wizard of Oz theme. They had a yellow brick road, character t-shirts, a fruit rainbow, and the party favor bag at the end was a "basket" filled with goodies. Even though it was 100+ degrees the kids all had a great time and so did the adults. The birthday girl was dressed like Dorothy. She was so cute! A blue gingham dress and her hair in pigtails.

The mom did a great job at giving her little girl a wonderful party. This year Ballerina Girl turns 5 and I'll probably do a big themed party for her, maybe. LOL Sissy turns 3 on the 25th and she wants a Disney Princess party. It won't be as huge an affair as todays party but she'll have fun.

Well, I'm exhausted and tomorrow is another busy day. It's SUNDAY! More of rounding up kids and taking them back and forth. LOL At least I'm not cooking tomorrow. My m-i-l is making a roast. Ok so I'll be making something, I'm doing a strawberry shortcake recipe by Paula Deen. BTW there's a new blog around and if you love Paula Deen or if you just love her recipes go visit: Paula Deen the Butter Queen.

They'll Be Comin' 'Round the Mountain...

...when they come.

Yes today is the day my in-laws are coming into town! My honey left at 11:30 and he took the two eldest with him to go pick them up at the airport. They should all return by 2:30. So now that I have wasted an hour online I must go and finish cleaning, shopping, and getting things ready for them.

A Mother's Day Gift (Early)

I've improvised and pictures are now returning to my blog. Since I can't find my memory card for my digital camera I decided to use my webcam that's built into my laptop. So the pictures won't be as good but you get the idea.

My wonderful Husband got me my Mother's Day gift early! It actually wasn't going to be a gift just an item we needed to get but I declared it a Mother's Day gift due to budget constraints. My new microwave!!

It really finishes the kitchen! There has been just a whole there for awhile now and a large old microwave was taking up way too much precious counter space. But no more! It looks very lovely.

From yesterday's post here is a finished picture of the Bay window "mis"treatments. Again taken from my webcam.

It looks so much better than that ugly paper and they are so much easier to move so I can see out of my beautiful window. Now if only I could move the houses across the street then I would have a clear view of the sunset. One mountain at a time I suppose.

Window Mistreatments

I've been turned on to window "mis"treatments by Darla at Beauty Inside and Out. Since I couldn't find any window treatments that I liked for my bay window I decided to "mis"treat them. I'm starting with the some sheers next to the windows themselves. At Walmart I bought 4 white sheer panels,

three sash rods,

and a pack of white hooks.

I put the hooks in the ceiling of the window area, placed the sheers on the rods, and then placed the rods on the hooks by the holes in their ends. It is working quite nicely. I really like how it looks! The only thing I need to fix is the length of the panels. They didn't have the length I needed so I got the next best thing and will fix them when I start sewing lessons in July.

By the way, the yard looks great! It is 98% to how I envisioned it and it will become 100% with a day or two of hard labor. I wanted to take pics before, during, and after but I couldn't find my memory card for my camera. ARGH! I searched everywhere. I'll find it eventually.

Yard Excavation

Our yard is soon to be excavated. Actually we are hiring someone to come out and level it out. If I had my other computer I would do some nice photos demonstrating the need for it. But alas words will have to do. The front yard is an abnormal hill. It looks like someone dumped extra dirt there in preparation to do a raised yard with a retaining wall but never got around to building the wall. So we are going to get rid of the extra dirt and level out the yard. The backyard is also very uneven.

So many things have been getting done around here lately that have been on the To Do list forever. (My in-laws are coming next week and I think that has something to do with the way my husband has been getting moving on that list.)

After tomorrow (when the bobcat comes) we'll be able to finally finish the fence around our backyard so that I won't be worried when the girls are playing that a stray dog (or person) will just walk in and harm them. YAY!!

Will it ever end?

Unpacking, unpacking, unpacking For those of you that move a lot or are in the military I feel for you. I hate unpacking. We moved into our lovely home at the end of October last year and we are still unpacking. I've gone through quite a few boxes already and there are still more to go through. Most all the boxes I've been through were half filled with stuff I just looked through quickly and was able to have my Honey throw it away. I've got a garage sale box going for the things that we are giving to our Teen Yard Sale at church and a keeper box which gets the stuff that I want to keep but need to file it, put it in its proper place, or whatever needs to be done with it.

Memories are in that box. I found an old business card from when I was in elementary. "JJ's Window Washing Service" We are your car windows best friends My friend Jessica and I ran that one. My cap and gown picture proofs also turned up. Why oh why did I have my hair like that? Wedding memories, college memories, old friends, even some of my dad's <s>really ugly</s> old ties. I was asking my Honey if he wanted some stuff out of a box of clothes I came upon and he started pulling out the ties and saying, "I never wore these." It was then I remembered my Mom gave them to us to see if he wanted any. One of those ties my Mom had been trying to get rid of forever but it always turned back up in my Dad's closet. Turns out he had more than one. LOL I think I'll be wrapping them up and giving them to him for Father's Day.

One box had me laughing, it was filled with food from our pantry! We just popped it open to see what was in it and there was an unopened bag of Ruffles Cheddar Cheese chips. I told my husband, "Look they haven't been opened!" To which he replied, "The date on those says December!" LOL So up to the kitchen that box went so I can go through it thoroughly.

Well, break time is over I must get back to my boxes as well as making dinner tonight.

*UPDATE* Pampered Chef 2

Ok, I am s-l-o-w-l-y adding to my Pampered Chef collection. Tonights party was fun we had a Thai Chicken salad and it was tasty but I think it needed more chicken. The strawberries were monstrous that the host had that night but that's one of the perks of living where I do! Last week I bought a flat of those monsters for $15.

Anyway, purchases so what did I get. Well I ordered a Large Round Stone for me and a Baker's Roller for a friend. I don't have a Baker's Roller yet either (and I really want one) but this lady has been so great to me lately actually she always is and she mentioned to me at the last party that she really wanted one of those.

I have 2 more parties to attend one at the end of May and then one in the middle of June. I know the uproar will die down soon it always does but while it lasts I'm enjoying it. I'll be adding only one thing to my collection each time.

Pampered Chef 2

Tonight I am attending my 2nd Pampered Chef party in the last month. (ok technically it's the new month but I mean within the last 4 weeks) I love these parties for 2 reasons: 1)they get me outta the house without the kids, and 2)there is free food and shopping; what more could a girl ask for. I would buy most everything in their magazine but my loving husband forbids it. LOL I do have a couple of items and I love them so I am just purchasing one thing tonight for me and a gift for a friend.

On a side note I just wanted to recommend something. For any ladies that want to hear a good sermon about the woman you shouldn't be please visit North Valley Baptist Church. Just click the link and it will take you straight to it. I stayed home last night from service because we are worried about Sissy (I am taking her to the doctor today) and I listened to the live service at NVBC and it was an awesome message.

Fun 'til Midnight!

Last night was my first time to an L.A. Dodgers game. We took Ballerina Girl with us. We had a really good time. Ballerina Girl ate up all the fun and attention she was getting from Mommy and Daddy as well as all the food we got her. She downed a Dodger Dog, a Chocolate Malt Ice Cream, part of my pretzel and shared our sodas. By the time the fifth inning came she was done sitting still. It had been a long 5 innings and we had a fun so it was time to go. We got home late but it was worth it.

Disaster Averted!

Yay! Got the call today from the computer repair shop that the hard drive is ok and all the info on it can be backed up to another hard drive! The power supply is shot however and because it's a Dell and you can only get a Dell power supply for it, it would cost bookoo bucks to fix so we are foregoing the latter.

Thank you, Lord, for Your mercy and grace!

"It's the End of the World!!"

Ok so not quite the end of the world but close enough. When we came home on Tuesday our computer would not boot up. "Ok, Jennifer, don't panic. You just have all of the millions of pictures of the girls on there that you've never developed as well as all of your Bible study lessons and a myriad of other important things that of course you don't have backed up. I've changed my mind you can panic." So we were without our computer so what, it's only <s>the brain of our families existence</s> a box, we can deal with it. deep breath

We took it into a shop for a diagnoses. And we are still waiting for the call. Hopefully it won't be anything major. So how am I blogging you ask. Well, my honey has been wanting to get a laptop for some time now so after we took our giant and I do mean giant desktop in to the repair shop we went shopping. It was supposed to be window shopping and research, we went from Circuit City to Best Buy to Office Depot a couple of times found a laptop or notebook as some stores called them that looked like a good deal at all 3 stores. I called my Dad the computer genius in the family and asked him to take a look at them online since I was without a computer and could not do the research myself. We grabbed a bite to eat at In and Out Burger and while there my honey made the decision to buy the one we saw at Office Depot. again deep breath, Jennifer (I had just taught on meekness and being still, peaceable and undisturbed and how Sarah went along with Abrahams decision to lie about her being his wife TWICE because she trusted in God to take care of her.) So I found myself saying, "Whatever decision you make is the right one for our family." Now for anyone actually reading this I really mean that sure some people may think it says between the lines, "What do you think you're doing!?" but I really want to trust God with however he leads our family. And WALLA! instant laptop/notebook owners.

Thankfully later that night my Dad called back and said it was a good computer and couldn't find any cons (except for Windows Vista). So it's not quite the end of the world at least until I hear back from the fix-it shop an find out if I've lost all my data or not.

Happy Birthday Blue Eyes!

One year ago today you came into this world. I can hardly believe that an entire year has already gone by. You are growing up so quickly right before my eyes. It seems like just yesterday you were that newborn babe wrapped up so tight sleeping in my arms. Today you are that squirmy little one who has too much to see and do to sit still in my arms. I want to take a look back over this last year and watch you as you grow.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5185802411820995026" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; Example I turned 26 on March 26th) my wonderful honey was sick. Yay such fun! I started to get a yucky attitude about it but hey there was nothing he could do about it. He had already had someone ready to watch our little ones so that he could take me out for a birthday lunch so I kept that date and used it to go get my haircut. My hair really needed it. I love the lady who I've found to do my hair. Joy is such a "joy" LOL She does a wonderful job and I love her prices! My wonderful honey then would not let me go out by myself for lunch so he dragged himself out of bed and we picked up our little ones and went to lunch. It didn't last long though for he looked a little green around the gills still and Sissy was in much need of a nap.

Finally Thursday came and it really started! (Remember I said it had been declared "the week of Jennifer") We dropped the little ones off again and headed to a beautiful coastal town and stayed at a luxurious hotel (that charged us for parking!? don't get me started on that one) and had a wonderful time! We shopped til we dropped literally. My honey spoiled me rotten. Wherever I wanted to go and whatever I wanted to get or eat he made no bones about it. I'm so lucky! We had a really wonderful time and I so enjoy getting away with him once in a while.

We didn't get back home until the evening on Friday and we were tired. Blue Eyes was so thrilled to see me she didn't want anyone else to hold her but me. I loves her. She's so precious.

Today I got word of my last birthday present. It's from my parents. Ballerina Girl asked Grandma if she could get me rollerskates for my birthday so I could go skating with her (they bought her some for Christmas). My mom couldn't say no of course and she ordered some through Walmart and I must needs go and pick them up tomorrow. She actually bought roller skates. I was thinking of roller blades when I originally planted the idea in Ballerina Girl's head at Christmastime but we'll have fun no matter what.

*Sorry about the lack of pics. I couldn't find my camera before we left.

The Golden Birthday!

Today is my GOLDEN Birthday! I turn 26 this March 26th. Everyone says you're supposed to make this one very special so I have declared this whole week to be my Birthday week in our house. It is the festival of Jennifer! lol

My husband has some lovely things planned for us both on Thursday and Friday that I am really looking forward to!!

My ideal Golden Birthday party would have everyone I love attending with a Golden Birthday Cake done by Charm City Cakes. Decorations would have gold everywhere, gold ballons, gold streamers, gold confetti, and even a gold pinata! ok I have no idea how to get the ~ over the "n"

But since I don't have a fortune to spend on that kind of party I'll go for one with my girls. Like last years Disney Princess Party they threw for me, party favors included!

The End of the Whirlwind

Wow, this Easter weekend has been the busiest weekend I've ever had. On Friday, my husband wanted to finish installing the ceiling fan/light in the dining room so he and his friend started at 9:00am. However, it wouldn't work. "Mr. Z" (the friend actually doing the work) went back up to the attic 3 times before I decided to try the kitchen lights and see if they work. (Earlier in the week we were having problems with them not working) And sure enough they weren't working which is why the fan wasn't working either. That was around noon when they discovered the problem wasn't the actual fan. So they tried everything to figure out how to get the lights in the kitchen to work. It wasn't until 3:00pm that they decided to try an actual electrician but by that time due to the holiday weekend nobody would return our calls and the only one that did wouldn't come out until Monday morning. (Did I mention my parent's were due to arrive at 5:00pm?) Finally at 4:00pm another friend of ours came over and within 2 minutes fixed the problem. It was a bad circuit breaker. He just switched the wires to a new breaker.

Thankfully, I didn't have much to do in getting ready for my parent's. Their room was ready for them and I had kept the house pretty clean over the week so not much cleaning to do. We had such a good time with them and I really enjoyed them staying with us. It will be even better when there are 2 bathrooms but we made do.

On Saturday we had a big BBQ and Easter Egg hunt for some families with small children from our church. Again my honey got up early and got us a grill then took off for Saturday visitation. My dad stayed at the house and put it together while my mom and I took the girls shoe shopping for Easter Sunday. Have you noticed a decline in Easter dressy dresses? We went to 3 different stores before we found shoes for only 1 child. Then we went grocery shopping for the rest of the needed items for the BBQ. Everyone showed up and had a great time. It all ended around 5:00. My parents offered to watch the girls so my honey could take me out for some quiet time and to celebrate my birthday. It's on Wednesday if you didn't know. While out we found shoes for Sissy for her Easter dress. I wanted to get a new dress but no luck with the stores in our town. I couldn't even find shoes to go with an outfit I already had that would be good for Easter. So we ended up at Starbucks drinking coffee and talking. It was a nice relax time from the busy day.

Sunday, Easter Sunday, the girls looked so cute!! My mom took all the pictures. It was such a great service! We had a lot of visiting families in church. Afterwards we did our own BBQ with just us. It was really nice! After the Sunday evening service the ladies of the church gave me a surprise party and roses. They are just the sweetest! I am so blessed! My parents took off after the party and drove home. We had a quiet evening but boy were my honey and I tired. I am definitely using up the last of my spa gift certificate this week!

Good Night

It's so quiet tonight! You mean EVERYONE doesn't have a guest room like this? Just shocking! {"shocking" what a funny sounding word, shock, shock, shock, it even looks funny})

My parents are coming for Easter weekend and I'm excited about it because this time they'll be staying with us. With our new house we have an extra room (our office) where guests can stay. (And no it's not pictured above.)

I did not like for people to stay with us when we didn't have a room or a bed for them to sleep. My in-laws stayed with us once before, they even shipped out their own air mattress. However they ended up on the couch and recliner the whole week because of bad backs and bad knees. It was too hard getting up and down from the floor where the mattress was. Thereafter everyone stayed at hotels.

In preparation for their visit I picked up some things at the store. I wanted to make a hospitality basket full of stuff they might forget to pack <strike>to make up for the lack of incredibly nice guest room pictured above</strike>. (You know the things when you start unpacking your suitcase and go, "Oh man, I forgot my _________!")

Some hospitality baskets include items like snacks, water, pain reliever, etc. but I've kept mine simple. I know they more than likely will not forget anything (my mom is big with lists for packing we all got our own list to check off when we went on vacations, camp, etc.) but these will also be for future guests into our home. I have a large square wicker basket that was given to me by a visiting preacher and inside it I've got their towels for their stay, his/her shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, soap, shampoo and conditioner, hairspray, his/her razors, lint roller, lotion, his/her deodorants, q-tips, and a body puff.

I received this whole basket idea from a class I took in Bible college called "Ministry Mates". My friend Tammy and I took that class together (we were the only two married girls in the class). The teacher gave us a cute poem to put into the basket but I couldn't find my notebook from the class because it's buried in the garage somewhere so Tammy kindly found hers for me and emailed me the words.

A Note to our House Guests
If in this basket you can find,
An item that you left behind,
Please help yourself to what you need
Because we count you friends indeed!

If you have someone coming to stay at your house, try making up your own basket of goodies and improvise, put some stuff in there that you know they like (my dad likes a certain type of gum and later this week I'll be adding it to the basket).

Oh So Sore!

After I had Blue Eyes I bought at a greatly reduced price some Winsor Pilates DvD's. I haven't been doing them for about 6 months due to the move and they got packed away. But yesterday I finally pulled them out and started up again. And just from the 2 workouts already I am "Oh so sore!"

A Beautiful Day

The weather has been so wonderful lately!! Yesterday after morning service and the girls were in bed for their afternoon naps I took a book I just started on outside to read. I enjoyed it so much I did it again today with my devotions. It's much more peaceful on the street we live on now compared to where we just came from. At our old house there was a busy road right behind our house and it always had cars zooming back and forth on it. Not too great of a spot for peace and quiet. But today while I was reading I very much enjoyed the sounds of nature rather than that of man.

When I was done the girls came out to join me and we had such fun. My husband's day off is on Monday so we all ended up outside playing tag with spray bottles. I love our new yard it is such a nice size for us. I'm looking forward to when it will really be complete. It just needs to be leveled out and some grass planted in some very bare spots.

We have a friend who is helping us get our yard looking nice. And I finally emailed him what I would like in that little strip of yard next to the street where our mailbox is. Currently that area is like this:

(Ewww, thankfully that carpet is long gone! But the outside pretty much looks the same.)

We have a rather large strip of ground to fill in (just erase the truck in your mind and delete the dumpster) and if you can see the neighbor's (across the street) strip of land, that's the look I'm going for, minus the rocks. Except with these choices:

Some beautiful daylilies...

and red bark.

Ladies Conference "Let Your Light Shine"

Well, our ladies conference was a blast as usual. We had a group of 17 ladies go!! I was so excited. Every year it's been my goal to have the same amount of ladies or more go to this conference. This year I thought we would be doing great to just get the same amount as last year but was surprised with 17 ladies! The biggest blessing of the trip was on the way home. One of the ladies with us doesn't go to our church but was invited by her friend to go. And when we were almost home we got a phone call letting us know that she received Christ as her Savior. WooHoo!! What a blessing! She is such a sweet lady and is already planning on attending next year's ladies conference with us and she wants to bring her daughter along.

Again there were so many things at conference that the Lord spoke to my heart about. Many things I need to work on. But just being up there and being close to some of the ladies in our church for that time is such a great blessing. I am so thankful to the Lord for the ladies He has given to me in this ministry.

My mom was able to come with us and that was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed being able to spend the time with her. We don't get many times like that so I think we will try to make this a yearly thing for her as well.

On the way up I missed getting on one highway but thankfully I knew of another way to get on. Then when we were getting on another one further ahead we somehow ended up going the wrong way which led us to paying the toll across a different bridge. I don't know how many bridges we ended up going over by the end of our trip but my traveling companion and I ended the trip with the inside joke of "We LOVE bridges!"

Computer Ups and Downs

I know I haven't written any posts <s>in forever</s> these last two weeks. I go through ups and downs in my relationship with my computer. There are times when I just can't live without it and couldn't possibly go for more than an hour without making sure all was well <s>with my second love</s> in my little box.

But there are times when I just wake up one day and have no interest whatsoever in going near a computer.

These last two weeks have been one of those times. I'll resume my regular daily posting now. However there will be a slight interlude while I am away at a Ladies Conference at the end of this week.
