When You're Hot, You're Hot!

This past week we've been hitting three digits of at least 100. In order to sleep the AC runs most of the night. We do use fans day and night and we're not uncomfortable, but going outside elicits complaints from Jim. I am reminded of the summer we spent in the Rio Grande Valley. Siestas are part of our life even here in Tallahassee!

Jim has been working on his balance issues and adjusting to the neuropathy in his feet. I hope he continues to do his exercises. We both should use the gym here in the complex. We went down a few days ago and I managed to use a few of the machines...but we need to make it a habit.

A Little Rain, Sunshine and our Anniversary

Friday I was up just after 0600...Sun was barely beginning to show herself. I guess the days are getting shorter. Do you favor ending the daylight savings time? It doesn't matter to me, each day of the week runs into the next as do the hours. But for folks who work and school children it could be impactful.

Blueberries and shredded wheat for my breakfast. Jim had some cheerios with strawberries. So healthy! For lunch it was red beans and rice. I always chop up onion and celery to put on top, gives the dish some crunch.

Our weekend wasn't all that exciting. We had rain a few times and the afternoon heats up.

Sunday was our 52nd anniversary. Sonsearae fixed us a spaghetti dinner. I gave Jim a card that I had made. Sara Jane sent us a card, it was so thoughtful of her to remember

Monday Jim and I had lunch at Carrabba's. Pasta dishes, Caesar salad and a pitcher of sangria. Might have to skip the pitcher next time because it just makes us sleepy! Came home and napped (passed out?).

Today we had the pleasure of going to Publix! I needed blueberries and shredded wheat. We got two bags of pita chips free! Publix has a policy that if something rings up incorrectly you get it free. These chips we're BOGO and they charged us full price for both. I like free!

I've been lazy again!

Sunday, we had Cuban sandwiches with Sonsearae and Chris at their house. The guys enjoyed them. I've never had one, but I did taste the pork that was used. Quite tasty. Veggie tray with dip, nuts and blueberries is what I chose to eat. Sonsearae also made blueberry muffins for dessert.

Sonsearae has excellent skills at finding good deals on cruises. So, we finally found a price we liked for a Margarita Cruise, we're booked for October and will go to Key West, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan. Seven days and we'll leave from Tampa

Monday, I got my hair cut, while Jim went to the car wash.

We then met Sonsearae at Casa Grande for a delicious lunch. We all had tacos of some sort. Chips and salsa for the table. Sonsearae had a margarita, I had a beer and Jim chose iced tea. Then we sent Jim home while we ladies went to Whole Food to get our cream (they were out) and a few other things.

She and I also stopped a new to us farm market. I thought the prices were kinda high.

Tuesday Jim had two appointments one at the hospital for an EKG, the other at the VA for PT. In between we had lunch at home. After PT we stopped and let Louis out at Sonsearae's request. She usually drives home from work during her lunch break but she was working a bit further away. On the way home we stopped at Starbucks for cold drinks that are much to sweet but really a treat!

Rain and Other Things

Tuesday was PT day for Jim, because of a touch of vertigo he wasn't required to learn more balance exercises. But he is trying to keep up. After his session we went out for a late lunch at Peppers. Good comforting Mexican food. I had a draft beer while Jim chose a tequila sunrise.

Of course we had some rain from TS Bertha. Nothing heavy just intermittent showers which is good. Keeps coming down and soaks into the ground helping to fill the aquifers. I don't think we're in drought conditions any longer! But more would be better

After lunch we just headed home with nothing else on our agenda.

Yesterday was another stay home day. No plans until dinner out with Sonsearae and Chris at the Black Radish. They have an interesting menu that changes seasonally and they don't take reservations. It's his birthday!

We just relaxed with our tablets reading and watching videos or movies. I finally finished watching Thor. We both showered and picked out nice clothes to wear. I'm not sure it mattered because dress codes for dining at night have disappeared. We were picked up around 1430 to get there by 1700. We did have some rush hour traffic but Chris got us there in one piece!

We shared some small plates of fried zucchini, bubble potatoes and focaccia. The guys split the grilled 24 oz ribeye that came with fries and a salad, Sonsearae had the green bean salad and I had peaches and burrata salad, Jim and Sonsearae had gin and tonic while I chose a dirty martini. Chris doesn't drink alcohol but he enjoyed his coke. We practically licked our plates it was that good!

We passed on the dessert menu as Chris wanted to go to Food Glorious Food for his cake, Jim also got a slice of cake. We ladies passed. This restaurant has delicious desserts! One that caught my interest was the Baklava cheesecake...I may have to go back.

We were dropped off at home, we changed into our pajamas and Jim enjoyed his dessert, while I just shook may head and wondered where he put it because we we stuffed.

This morning when he got up he said his bed looked like he wrestled an alligator!

I slept late but had no trouble sleeping but I did have a lazy morning. Finally got my act together just before noon and put a load of clothes in the wash machine. My meals today consisted of leftovers for breakfast and lunch.

Sunday we had a lovely time dining and visiting with Sonsearae and Chris. We had brisket, corn on the cob, pasta salad and cupcakes! I know the guys watched a Star Trek movie.

Have you seen the blob in the gulf? We're getting rain from it but nothing serious. Just enough to keep us indoors reading and gaming.

Anyone have Paramount + ? Jim decided we needed it and today we watched an episode of a Mystic Britain. We both thought it was interesting. Again rain is keeping us from venturing out so we read and play games

After the busy day I had yesterday you'd think falling asleep would be easy. But noooo! Both of us had trouble going to sleep last night

I was up just after 0700 today not feeling all that rested. I had some grits and bad coffee for breakfast. Jim got up around 0930 and had his cereal. As soon as he was up I gathered some throw rugs and tossed them in the washer. Then I started swiffering. I was mostly doing nooks and crannies, you know all those places the vacuum misses. Jim cleaned the guest bathroom and stripped his bed. He also took out all the trash. I'll admit it, I get to many boxes delivered to our front door. So much easier than driving around trying to find what I want or need. Amazon is our friend 😀

For lunch we had pot roast, potatoes and corn on the cob. I finished off my cheesecake from Tuesdays dinner at Carrabbas. There's another small piece and it belongs to Jim but I may have to eat it for him! After lunch I took a 1 hour nap, using the timer on my watch. When I got up Jim headed for a nap. I'm sure this will keep us awake again.

Sandwiches for our evening meal and I just had some pineapple sauce.

Things are heating Up

The last couple of days have been beautiful. No rain, just a lot of sunshine and along with the sun comes the heat. The Air Conditioner is coming on earlier in the afternoon now.

Yesterday I slept until just after 0800 and shortly after Jim got up! Late for me, early for him. 😄 We ran out of dry cereal a few days back and I've been making oatmeal or grits for our breakfast. We still have some leftovers from dining out so we've concentrated on that to clean out the fridge.

Jim did go to the fitness center we have here and did a workout doing the new exercises he was given at PT last Tuesday. He's a bit sore but I'm proud of him for working on his balance. I was working on some cards so didn't go with him. Maybe next time!

Today we were up early. 0630 for me and 0800 for Jim. We were going to Costco with Sonsearae! She picked us up around 0900 and this is a good time to shop, very few people so we had plenty of time to look around. We managed to buy some unnecessary food items but everything will get eaten in time. Also got a non skid rug for in front of Jim's chair and he got a Land's End t-shirt. When we left here it was to pick up some cupcakes for a party tomorrow night.

Next stop was our house to drop off Jim and stash my groceries. He took a nap because we wore him out, bless his heart. Then we headed to a friends house to drop off a brisket and potatoes and the cupcakes. It was nice seeing this friend again. Now it was time to drop off Sonsearae's groceries and head to Publix! Neither one of us bought much but we're now set with fresh food for a few days

Last stop was Starbucks for some icy cold coffee! Our daughter then dropped me off at home and I spent the next 45 minutes or so getting everything put away. I also threw some clothes in the dryer and folded them when they dried.

Yesterday I didn't get up until 0810! Nice little sleep in for me. Jim got up around 0930. We didn't have anyplace to be until 1300 for his PT session. I did a load of laundry and ran the dishwasher.

After PT we came home, I had leftover ravioli for lunch and Jim took a nap. I spent my time reading and playing games

Around 1800 Sonsearae and Chris picked us up for the wine dinner at Carrabbas. It was nice having Chris with us. The dinner was super as was the wine. I think we all enjoyed the family time

Back home it didn't take us long to change and get comfortable. Jim watched YouTube and I got caught up on my game, did some reading and we were in bed shortly after 2200.

I was up this morning shortly after 0700. Coffee and grits for breakfast. I was pleasantly surprised the glucose was 120! That's low for me. I test every other day and I wasn't sure what to expect after that rich, delicious dinner last night.

Lazy day for us. I did a little cleaning and we both had naps. Leftover ravioli for me and Jim had a sandwich of some sort for lunch. For dinner I had some fettuccini leftover from last night and Jim had teriyaki chicken and fried rice another leftover from lunch on Monday.

It's 87 degrees outside and it's almost 2100. The AC hasn't been on all day but we'll run it overnight

I'm back to my normal sleeping pattern. I was up at 0650 this morning. A couple days last week it was an 0800 alarm clock that woke me. Between the Tylenol and Zyrtec I was sleeping quite well. My ear hasn't bothered me all day but my sinus on the right side is still annoying. I'm ready for my body to get back to normal.

I don't think I mentioned it, but I managed to fall/slide out of bed one night. Our bed is tall and I use a step to get in and out of it. Well I managed to sit to close to the edge and missed the step , falling into the nightstand. That sure woke me up! I banged up my left arm and wrist catching myself. That's looking pretty right now as the bruises fade. Sunday I had another mishap and the skin on my right arm was sliced open. My skin is very thin. We immediately covered this with bandages and left them on until this evening.

Did you know you can remove those sticky Band-Aids by dabbing oil on the part with the adhesive? I looked it up because I really didn't want to remove more skin, not to mention the hair when we removed them. Jim and I cleaned up these wounds and re-bandaged them with a waterproof plaster. I can shower without getting them wet..

Oh I forgot to mention that somehow I managed to get a cut on my neck, just below the jawline. I've no clue how that happened.

I'm so glad I had all these medical problems the last 10 days or so, maybe that will be it for the year...

Don't cha know it rained most of the day! Started before 1000 and continued most of the afternoon. Jim and I drove down to Crawfordville to have lunch with Sonsearae after she got off from work. Lex and Roll Sushi and Thai is liked by all of us. After lunch Sonsearae treated me to a pedicure also in Crawfordville. Gem Nails is a very nice place and while we soak our feet we get to enjoy a glass of wine. I feel so pampered. Our final stop before home was Starbucks

Family Time

I think I'm about over this ear/sinus problem. I've taken Tylenol to help with the pain the last 24-36 hours. But no Zyrtec. I slept very well last night.

We've not been out and about much since last Wednesday when we went to the Southwood Veterans Club meeting. Not sure why we bother with eating there, nothing at the clubhouse tastes good. But the drinks are good.

I've done my best to keep up with the dishes and laundry but my heart hasn't been in it. Even now I need to make the bed with fresh sheets. I also need to get some cleaning done

Today we enjoyed a Asian inspired meal with Sonsearae and Chris. Our daughter does a remarkable job catering to all our likes and dislikes! She prepared potstickers, chicken teriyaki, rice and a ramen noodle salad. The salad had napa cabbage, edamame, carrots, peanuts, spring onion and cilantro with a soy/vinegar dressing.

To top it off she made a berry cobbler that was served with vanilla ice cream. Of course she sent home some food with us and we can enjoy the salad and teriyaki again.

Right on schedule a storm rolled through dumping tons of rain! Same thing happened yesterday and the day before

A Little Rain and then more Rain

We've had rain everyday this week, somewhere in the city. Right now I can hear the rumbling of a storm and it's pouring down rain. I'm expecting a package but I'm not going out in this to see if it was delivered!

Tuesday Jim had PT and we went to Costco to walk around in the cool temperatures. Made a few purchases.

Wednesday I went to Costco with Sonsearae and only bought two items.

Thursday I spent just resting. It would seem I have an ear infection or sinus infection or both. So I've been taking Tylenol and Zyrtec to alleviate the symptoms and sleep. Even half a dose of Zyrtec makes me drowsy. Not eating a whole lot so I'll probably lose weight!

July 4th

Yesterday was a lazy day for Jim and somewhat for me too. He did take the trash down and picked up mail from Friday. I stripped the bed and washed the sheets. Made potato salad for lunch along with some corn on the cob and some chicken tenders (from the freezer). It was a good lunch for the 4th of July

I had asked Jim to find some of the celebrations on TV. We don't have cable TV, just the channels that came with the TV. We have subscriptions to Discovery+, Acorn, Netflix and Disney+. We rarely watch TV and I have no idea on finding anything on that big black screen. He turned on Fox and I did get to see some of the tall ships but mostly they were just yakking. Then some lady came on showing us some fashion show. It was about this time that Jim took the trash out so I just turned off the TV

After lunch we did watch a couple episodes of Nautilus. I took a nap. I believe it was next we turned on ABC and David Muir signed off and we went to Nashville...Ryan Seacrest told us all about what was coming up...more yakking! so I did a google search and found Capital on the Fourth being shown on YouTube. It was a replay from the night before

Finally some music and what I've come to expect on the 4th of July. I'm not much into fireworks but it was nice seeing it highlighted behind George Washington's house Mount Vernon.

We only heard some firecrackers here in the complex.

We went to bed around 1030 and had no problem sleeping.

I was up just before 0600 and Jim was up around 0930. We both had cereal with fruit for breakfast. Just before 1000 I checked the outdoor temperature, it was 104! The sensor is on the patio which gets full sun most of the morning. It did go down to 98 at one point. I did a load of laundry.

Jim finally got out of his chair for lunch. I fixed him Pad Thai, a pre made meal from the freezer. I don't care for it so I had potato salad and we both had fresh cherries<<yum.

After lunch I took a nap, at this point I think it's boredom more than the need to sleep. I heard music (lightly) from upstairs, they were also moving furniture around and thunder from a system that failed to deliver rain.

The Pad Thai made a mess in the sink so I scrubbed it and it's all shiny again.

I guess today was a lazy day also!

We eat lunch out quite often. Yesterday after we picked up our CSA box we headed to Walk On's and had a delicious meal. Jim had a fried Louisiana plate with some etouffee while I noshed on a Caesar salad. I washed it down with water and he had sweet tea.

Summer is heating up here in Tallahassee. The AC came on around 1730 yesterday. What is your ideal thermostat setting? Because of this building I can keep ours at 78 degrees during the day, at night 75 degrees. We both like it on the cooler side for sleeping but use the ceiling fan and sleep under quilts.

Sonsearae stopped by this morning for her veggies and a short visit. Always nice to see her! Shortly after she left we did too. I had an appointment for a haircut.

Jim dropped me off then took the car through the car wash and tidied it up. Says he finished up about the time I messaged him I was ready. I like that as it means he wasn't out in this hot weather to long. From there we went to Whole Foods to pick up some soy creamer and yummy cherries and blueberries.

Now it was time for lunch! Stopped in at Casa Grande Margaritas and Cocina. We both ordered a margarita and enjoyed the chips and salsa while we waited for our food. Unfortunately for me the TV's were showing golf and soccer. I ordered two tacos and refried beans, Jim had a taco salad.

Back home I got everything put away, caught up on my game and took a nap! Alcohol induced I'm sure :) When I got up I noticed Jim was napping also.

Sonsearae stopped by on her way home from work to get her creamer and a half case of Dos Equis, it's been sitting in my pantry since we moved here. How do I know? I found items paced in there that I've since replaced because I couldn't find them!

CSA

Do you have a local CSA? I think its wonderful using Local Resources and support local growers. Hopkins Farms is about an hour north of us in Georgia and they deliver to a drop off point here in Tallahassee. Sonsearae and I split a half bushel for $35. We can order weekly on Monday for Thursday delivery. This is today's haul! As they state on their website not all of it is grown there

Bananas, peaches, yellow squash, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn on the cob, onions, red potatoes and a small cabbage (thank goodness! previous boxes have included huge cabbage)..Potato salad! I'll probably eat one of the cucumbers tonight, Cole slaw for the 4th!

The pickup window is 1100-1200 so I woke Jim at 1000 so we could get on the road. We were on time but we had to wait longer than normal. It was so funny to see around 20 cars all lined up for their produce

I forget to mention what I'm reading. Currently I'm reading books by Eddie Dray. Jim and I met him and his wife Marilyn while we were full timers. He has written about the full time experience and it's a joy to be reminded of the people, places and times we spent together.

Tuesday was a busy day for us. Jim had two appointments, the first at 1100 which meant we had to leave at 1000 because the parking garage at TMH is always full. We had to drive around for about 15 minutes, then we had to traverse one building then another to get to his appointment on time. We made it with 15 minutes to spare! He was called in early also. This was another neurology test, EMG/NCV. Acupuncture needles and electric pads were used to determine if his nerves were active, etc. Good news he doesn't require any medicine for this. Just PT and supplements.

Sonsearae had asked if I wanted to go shopping with her, so we invited her to a quick lunch at BJ's. Jim's next appointment was at the VA for PT so he departed and then she and I headed to Michaels so she could get a couple prints framed. We wandered around the store but didn't find anything we couldn't live without. Then we stopped at Lucky Goat for some iced coffee

When we arrived at home Jim was happily ensconced in his chair watching a movie. The rest of our day was sitting, playing games or watching you tube

I've been having hot tea before bed to see if it will help me go to sleep quicker. Seemed to help last night, of course I didn't nap either

Today, Wednesday was pretty much a couch potato day for us. Jim did wander down to mail the car payment. We both had a wee nap.

Family Dinner

Yesterday was a busy day in a good way. We generally have dinner with Sonsearae and Chris on Sundays. Yesterday was the first since they returned from their Alaska Cruise.

I was up and had breakfast then got busy in the kitchen. I made brownies with walnuts and some Spanish rice as our contribution to the dinner. Sonsearae did all the heavy work! She made enchilada sauce and Mole Sauce on Saturday to make various kinds of enchiladas for our dinner. She also whipped up some pinto beans in the Insta Pot. Pico d Gallo was fresh made also. She does this meal prep for their meals for the coming week but she also sends some home with us.

Close to dinner time Chis made us ladies a yummy margarita.

After we stuffed ourselves we gathered in the living room to see all the pictures they took on the cruise. Alaska is quite beautiful! They flew into Vancouver to board the ship and made stops at Ketchikan and Hoonan, maybe another port.

Then it was time for dessert, the guys chose to have ice cream with their brownie. Since it was close to 1600, Sonsearae, Jim and I went to an open house that was getting ready to close. We had fun wandering around the four bedroom home with a pool. We all agreed it was well worth the price! After that Jim and I went home.

Once home I had some coffee...it's a thing for me, Iced Coffee around 1600. We settled in and watched a couple episodes of Nautilus, can't remember what channel this series is on, but it is exciting.

This morning I was up just after 0730. Had shredded wheat with blueberries for breakfast. Jim got up around 0930, maybe later can't remember! Around noon he headed over the take care of Louis

while Chris and Sonsearae were at work. Then he went to the car wash and I took a nap. When I nap I use the timer set at one hour so I don't sleep to long. I had just gotten up when Jim came home and in due course he took a nap!

Saturday Shopping

Once again I could not go to sleep last night. Finally got up around 0030 because I was hungry and had a couple crackers. Not good because I had to test my glucose this morning...

I was up at 0715, felt rested so I guess all is good. I had Kite Hill Greek yogurt with blueberries for breakfast, coffee and some soy milk. When Jim got up around 1030 he had instant oatmeal.

I finished up some Pooh cards that I started yesterday. The kit is from Echo Park

Yesterday Sonsearae sent a text asking if I'd like to go to an estate sale after she gets off work on Saturday...Sure! It can be fun looking through other folks belongings. And spending time with this young lady is always fun.

On Saturday she works until noon and another text this morning had me scurrying to get ready. I was folding clothes but left that for later. Jim and I hopped (? we didn't really hop!) in her car and we headed to Canopy Roads for some lunch/breakfast. Once our meal was over we drove a short distance to check out this sale. The home belongs to an elderly couple who have moved into a retirement home. This was the second weekend of the sale but there was a lot to look at with reduced prices. I bought a can of bug spray, actually Sonsearae paid for it. But it was only $2. She was able to pick up a lot of new gift bags for birthdays and Christmas. I'm not sure what all she got but it was two tubs and a Halloween sign for a friend. Jim didn't find anything he needed.

We dropped Jim at home and continued on, going to Aldi then Publix for some groceries. A fun four hours shopping with our beautiful daughter. Jim was snacking on trail mix and watching YouTube when we returned.

Once I put everything away it was time for coffee. I caught up on my games and read for awhile. Oh I also finished folding the clothes and put them away.

I was a bit surprised when the AC came on around 1730! I think that's the earliest this summer. Our days are warming up but it usually stays cool inside with the ceiling fan. Of course we run it at night setting the thermostat at 75.

Friday started at 0615 for me. Slept pretty good. It was a bit overcast but the sun coming up has cleared the skies

Leftovers for breakfast, mashed potatoes, peas and gravy. Today I'm getting a pair of shoes and we're having lunch out

Yesterday I actually got tired from (and sore) from sitting so much. Even though I had chores and I stand when making cards. Do you have a smart watch? Mine is programed to remind me to stand every hour. And most days I do.

Jim got up a little earlier today! He shaved all those ugly grey whiskers off his face and looks ever so nice. Trimmed his mustache also. Then he got dressed for our outing. I stripped the bed and got the sheets washed and dried. Still need to make it 😖

I had an appointment to pick up my shoes. The VA gives us shoes! Two pair a year. They are orthopedic and quite comfy. The four pair I have right now are sneakers/tennis shoes. But there are other options. After picking up the shoes we went out to lunch choosing Osaka for some yummy hibachi food. During the day the hibachi tables aren't used but it's still good. The servings are large enough for another meal

As we sat there I could see dark clouds moving in. Checked the app on my phone and we were in for a storm! Made it all the way home before large splats started falling. Got inside and the skies let loose. Jim opted for a nap. I fought the urge!

Spent the afternoon watching you tube and playing games. A little light reading

Just finished a bowl of pea soup. I can and sometime do eat soup everyday...Jim has sandwiches I have soup.

Nuthin!

Sort of an overcast day but sadly no rain. I don't think it has rained to two or three days. Seriously if I have to stay home it might as well rain!

I got up just after 0700 and I have to say I slept well. I had vegan Greek yogurt with blueberries for breakfast along with my coffee. I was supposed to strip the bed and wash sheets but I opted not to. After I got dressed I started working on a Paper Pumpkin Kit. The theme was Valentines so a lot of pink is involved. Not my favorite color pallet

Finished these this morning. I was working on them when Jim got up around 1000

While Jim was napping this afternoon I finished the kit.

We are rarely on the same eating schedule so Jim had breakfast when he got up. Around noon I had leftovers of mashed potatoes, peas and green beans. He had his lunch when he got up from his nap. Sandwich, soda and chips.

Sleep Habits

Do you have a routine? Go to bed and rise at the same time?

I used to but for the past month or so I can't seem to fall asleep right away. My brain won't shut down. Also I get up to many times during the night to use the toilet (I know to much information?). This causes me to sleep later. I used to be able to go to bed around 2200 and get up anywhere from 0400--600. Today I got up at 0740

Oh, and I nap far to often! Which I'm sure messes with my sleep cycle

Tuesday 23 June

I was up at 0740. I've had shredded wheat with blueberries and soy milk. My coffee of course. Jim had Cheerios with strawberries and oat milk, perhaps a cup of tea.

We dressed and left the house around 1030 as Jim had an 1100 appointment with his Primary Care Physician at the VA Medical Center. He's anemic! But nothing that won't keep him around for a little while longer. He was supposed to have PT but it was cancelled. I managed to walk around the building while he was being seen, getting some exercise, steps and trying to stay warm. Why are medical buildings so cold?

I was hungry and we had agreed to have lunch out. I suggested breakfast because I don't cook what he wants at home. Canopy Roads has an extensive menu and we each ordered something different. I had corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, grits and a biscuit. Jim had fried eggs, bacon, toast, coffee and a fruit bowl. I should not have eaten my meal...made my stomach queasy.

On the way home we dropped off a couple bags of 'stuff' at Goodwill.

I had a nap mostly because of my queasiness. I think Jim stayed in his chair for the last four hours...oh wait he did get up once. Not sure we should have gotten it! He spends more time in it than he should.

Fathers Day

June 21, Fathers Day

An ordinary day at home. Coffee and cereal with blueberries for breakfast, Jim had tea and cereal. Sonsearae was bringing us dinner, mostly for Jim, but that's ok because I didn't have to cook.

Decided to watch Mama Mia because it was gloomy and rainy. It's such a bright cheery movie with lively music. Halfway into it we got hungry so we both had salads. Jim had a 1905 salad and I just had a veggie and olive salad.

Just as we finished the movie Sonsearae arrived with all sorts of goodies 😊 Meatloaf, taters, gravy, mac & cheese, peas and green beans. All of Jim's favorites. Even lettuce and tomatoes so we could make a salad also.

We got to hear all about the Alaskan Cruise. She enjoyed it more than she thought she would. Of course it was a bucket list item for Chris, so he really enjoyed it! She brought us a souvenir. They plan to upload all the pictures to the TV and we'll enjoy a slide show when we visit them.

After she left we were treated to more rain. I'm hoping the area is getting really soaked and we're not in drought conditions anymore. It's sad driving around and seeing empty ponds and waterways.

Friday June 19th

No plans other than a run to Whole Foods for my Silk Soy Creamer. Only place in the city that carries the plain variety. Once we had coffee and breakfast, caught up on games and dressed we headed to that part of town. Driving through rain.

Since it was lunchtime we stopped in at 4 Rivers Smokehouse right in the same shopping center. It was still raining. Jim had a pulled pork sandwich and I chose 4 sides, fried okra, cornbread, baked beans and Cole slaw. We left stuffed. Lightly raining. The parking lot was jammed, there are a half dozen restaurants plus Whole Foods and other shops.

Jim dropped me at the door and went in search of a parking spot. He followed me bringing shopping bags. They didn't have as much creamer as I wanted for both Sonsearae and myself so we'll need to return sometime next week. Jim has been wanting a 1905 salad that we first had at Columbia Restaurant in St Augustine years ago. So we got lettuce, ham and Swiss cheese, the other ingredients I have at home. The dressing is sold in Publix so I don't have to make it! It has to much oil for my taste.

Saturday June 20th

We had some rain overnight. Barely heard it. Not like when we lived in the rig and the walls and roof were slender.

As promised Lazy Boy called and delivered the chair right at lunchtime. We've angled it a bit so Jim can recline it all the way should he wish to do so. This angling also allows better TV viewing. It's a bit darker in real life and I would have preferred a lighter color but it will be used daily

BLT's for lunch with Morning Star Farms Veggie bacon strips. For fake bacon it's pretty good and I've used it for years and Jim likes it.

After lunch we both had a wee nap and it rained again. All this rain is bringing out the ants searching for higher ground. I need to buy more spray!

Summer is upon us

Tropical system in the Gulf is giving us some much needed rain. The roses were getting crispy despite my feeble attempt to keep them hydrated. This apartment complex has an irrigation system but I’ve only seen it once or twice, the sprinkler heads are there. About a month ago they said the schedule would be Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Jim had dog sitting duty until Friday when Sonsearae and Chris return from their Alaskan cruise. It is an early birthday present for Chris and from his Facebook posts it would appear he’s enjoying every minute! From the pictures it looks like they had overcast skies and some rain. Not ideal for a couple of Floridians! The above mentioned tropical system may delay their flights home

Jim has progressively gotten worse with his balance (bad knee) so his doctor referred him to neurologist and he ordered some tests and set him up with physical therapy He gave him a set of exercises to do and they've helped plus he'll start PT next week. The tests included an MRI and an MRA. the MRI showed he had a minor stroke, right temporal lobe. We were not aware of this so it must have been really minor.

Because of his balance issues and I was afraid he'd do a header into the TV we went to Lazy Boy and ordered a lift chair. It will be delivered this Saturday. He almost always uses his cane to get around.

Of course I'm still making cards, these are from a long time retired Stampin' Up! Suite. It's amazing what you can do with scraps!

Besides the wasp nest being built my patio has this little Anole. I wonder if he eats wasps?

Long time no see a post from me! All is well and I must admit I get lazier the older I get!

Jim is now riding around in style. This was his first time on uneven ground and I must say it works pretty good. He uses it when we're going to be on hard surfaces for any length of time. Used it quite a bit when we went to Disney World. Most of the time he uses his cane

Much of Florida has been on fire this past month. Fortunately nothing close to us. The drought is still on, so the rain we've had recently is helping

Mothers Day was a treat! Chris and Sonsearae took us to dinner at Osaka where we enjoyed the hibachi. Dinner and a show, what more could you need?

Spring

Do you look forward to Spring? I grew up in Michigan and I know Spring was a welcome change to the snowy, cold winters. Here in the south it's the same. We're tired of long pants, shoes and socks and we long for milder temperatures before Summer sets it.

Here in Tallahassee (and much of Florida!) Spring comes and goes in March. Some disgruntled Northerners like to send these cold fronts to annoy us! To be sure after the front passes we have lovely sunny days, but we're just as tired of the cold as all you Northerners. Stop it!

Yesterday I woke to 35 degrees and it was chilly inside so I had to run the furnace for a bit. Same this morning. Hopefully this will be the last Artic blast we'll have this year
