My First Town Hall Meeting Fredericksburg, VA

I have heard the stories of various Town Meetings throughout the country. Try as I might, I could find no meetings scheduled for my district or by any of my Senators.Then my Representative, Mr Rob Wittman announced he was hosting on on September 1, 2009 in Fredericksburg, VA.

All arrangements made to accommodate the farm animals, we made the hour journey, parked three blocks away and made it with time to get at the end of a very long line. Few people had signs. The most who did had preprinted signs made by the pro-government organization Health care for America Now. A woman for that organization came walking along the line toward us. She stopped suddenly when she recognized someone she knew, then gave him a sign and lapel sticker. Having done so she turned and walked back the other way.

I turned to my wife and wondered why the woman did not ask us if we wanted a sign. Then I had an idea.

I caught up with her and asked, "May I have a sign?"

Surprised she replied, "Yes, which one would you like?"

I chose the one most likely to serve my purpose. She asked if I wanted a lapel sticker, I said "Nagh."

Back in line I looked at the wording of the sign and wondered aloud how I could modify it to suit my need. It read,"INSURANCE PROFITS ARE BAD FOR MY HEALTH." I asked people in line if any had a pen, getting one I got on the ground and began to cross out "PROFITS ARE" and adding above INSURANCE, the word GOVERNMENT. At this moment the woman who gave me the sign had come back demanding I return the sign.

I stood up incredulous that she make such a demand. She repeated her demand so I replyed in as childish a manner as I could, "No! You gave it to me, It's mine!"

"Well I'm calling the police." She shot back.

"Go get him and bring him here." I replied.

Not long after she stomped off the line began to move. When we reached to door she was there waiting with Officer Friendly. Pointing me out he asked me to step aside. My wife went on in to secure a place to sit. Officer Friendly says to me, "She says you took here sign."

"No Sir, I asked her for a sign, she offered me a choise as to which one, I chose this one and she gave it to me."

Turning back to her he asked if she gave the sign to me when I asked. She said acknowledged that she did, then Officer Friendly let me go in.

The meeting was generally orderly. The Congressman was not in favor of the bill so he had a positive response from the crowd most of the evening. There were a few supporters of the bill but they were rather quiet. Speakers were chosen from 3x5 cards with names in a hopper. I was not chosen. As we left the sign woman and her grew were outside the door. She asked if I enjoyed my sign which I affirmed. We stopped at a BBQ place in Fredericksburg. As I was putting the tip on the table who should walk in but my friend the sign lady. She laughed when she saw me. I told her to have a nice evening and went out to catch up with my wife.

Great Grandmother Sets National Deadlift Record

This is 72 year old Roberta Dearden competing in the 100% RAW federation's Potomac Open. This video shows her attempt to break the javascript:void(0) in the woman's 165 lbs class 70-74 year old division with a lift of 120 lbs.

She began weight lifting while recovering from a broken hip three years ago. It has helped to not just regain strength but her doctor has been able to take her off some of her other medications. Her next goal is to set a world dead lift record.

Calvin "C.J." Lavant Jr., 23, formerly of Cordele, died Sunday. Funeral, 3 p.m. Saturday, A.S. Clark School Auditorium; J.W. Williams Funeral Home.

This is just one name that could have been ten had this man's name not appeared in the obituary.
That is because he and Jamal Hill broke into the home of Charles Bailey who was celebrating his birthday with nine other friends. The account is chilling.

Hill and 23-year old Calvin Lavant of College Park allegedly burst into an apartment located in the Southern Lakes apartments on Lakemont Drive in College Park around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The resident of the apartment, Charles Bailey, told police that he thought it was the end of his life. He and ten other people were in his apartment celebrating at a birthday party when two masked gunmen burst through the patio door.
"They just came in and separated the men from the women and demanded wallets and cell phones," said George Williams of the College Park Police Department.
Bailey further informed authorities that the suspects counted their bullets.

What would have ended in a horrifying report of mass muder and rape, talked about in the press everywhere with all the lurid details and calls for more gun regulations, instead has remained a none story except for the local news. All because of one man.

Hill was guarding the men when one of the victims retrieved a gun from a backpack and turned the tables on the situation. Hill reportedly fled the scene.
The victim with the gun then proceeded to the next room where Lavant had watch over the females at the party.
"The guy was apparently was about to rape one of the females," said Bailey. "The guy with the gun called for the girls to get down and he started shooting. The suspect just jumped out of the window."....
...Bailey said if not for the quick thinking of that party goer, it is likely that all the victims would have been killed. "I am thankful that one student risked his life for others."

A good thing they were not in a gun free zone, eh?

No Retreat Law in Montana and Florida

There has been a sudden interest in a post I have on the Arizona No Retreat Law. This is a law that allows an individual to defend himself without first having to expend all possibility of escape for those who would rob, injure or kill them.

For too long, jurisdictions have prosecuted citizens who defended their home by attacking an intruder because the law required the victim to reach a dead end in retreat from the criminal before lethal force could be justified. The result being some criminals wining lawsuits against their victims for causing the criminal injury while trying to protect their property from being carried off. So the people eventually found politicians who returned the law to a more common understanding of justice, i.e. that defense of one's self and property is a fundamental right.

This interest could be spurred by the state of Montana passing into law House Bill 228.

House Bill 228 is a broad piece of legislation that provides a number of specific protections for law-abiding citizens. This new law clarifies the ability of law-abiding citizens to carry a firearm in plain view and to present the firearm for defensive purposes when threatened. Additionally, the law puts clearly into statute existing Montana case law providing that, when threatened, a law-abiding citizen has no duty to retreat if the person is in any place he or she has a legal right to be. Other provisions include expanding existing law to allow the use of force in defense of an occupied structure and preventing landlords and hotel operators from restricting self-defense rights.

Or, it could be the report from Florida of a farmer killing one of two people who were engaged in stealing his land cruiser.

Tony Curtis Phillips, 29, didn't fire a single shot. He didn't even know his girlfriend, Nikki McCormick, was dead until police showed him an online news story.
Police said McCormick accompanied Phillips as he attempted to steal the SUV from a barn in an orange grove near Wahneta, Florida, before daylight Tuesday.
Grove owner Ladon "Jamie" Jones opened fire as the SUV approached him, according to an affidavit released by the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Phillips fled; McCormick was shot in the head and later died.
Authorities said Jones is protected by Florida's "no retreat" law, which gives him the right to use lethal force if he reasonably believes his life is in danger. Phillips, however, faces charges because police allege he was committing felony grand theft auto at the time of McCormick's death.
"Because his conduct caused her death, he gets charged with a felony," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

This is as it should be. Unfortunate that someone had to lose her life for the main perpetrator to learn his lesson but it may serve as an example to others who would otherwise be inclined to do their neighbor ill. The real danger now however is against a thief from whom we have little defense.

Obama said Thursday that Chrysler was forced into bankruptcy because a small group of investors and hedge funds would not go along with a deal to save the iconic automaker.

He said the small group was "hoping that everybody else would make sacrifices and they would have to make none. Some demanded twice the returns that other investors were getting.

"I don't stand with them," he said.

The government in the person of Barack Obama seems to think that it is OK to demonize the bondholders in Chrysler because they refuse to be bullied into a plan to take the company away from the legitimate owners and transfer it to the unions and the government. There are clear laws regarding the order of distribution when a company seeks protection from it's debtors. Obama seems to believe that these laws need not be upheld simply because the government has "loaned" tax money to the company in a futile effort to save it. While the taxpayer's interest in the company has been lost, Obama has required the original investors to give up their rights so the government can justify it's poor decisions.

While states are passing self defense protection laws the citizens need some kind of protection from the looters of their future wealth. A common thief can only steal what one has. The government can steal not only what wealth we have but also that which we have yet to earn.

Chrysler Bankruptcy and the Nathional Interest

The bond holders of Chrysler refused to be the victims of the government's efforts to sweep the company's problems under the rug. Predictably, Obama chastised them for not being willing to follow the path of destruction taken by the holders of GM's debt.

Earlier Thursday an administration official said the restructuring of Chrysler LLC will go forward even though a handful of hedge funds have refused to accept the Treasury Department's offer to cut the auto maker's debt.

"Their failure to act in either their own economic interest or the national interest does not diminish the accomplishments" by Chrysler, its planned alliance partner Fiat SpA and other stakeholders in the company, the official said, "nor will it impede the new opportunity Chrysler now has to restructure and emerge stronger going forward."

They are acting in their own economic interest. That is what the administration is condemning them for. They did not loan money to Chrysler because they wanted to perform some nationalist service, nor should they now sacrifice by losing even more than they all ready have for that reason. The government's efforts to destroy the bondholder's value will make it impossible for any company to raise capital by selling bonds, for no one will have the confidence that the government will not then steal the value of their investment for the "national interest."

Read this passage from Atlas Shrugged and ask if we are not already there:

...men who apologize for being rich- will not remain rich for long. Hey are the natural bait for the swarms of looters that stay under rocks for centuries, but come crawling out at the first smell of a man who begs to be forgiven for the guilt of owning wealth. They will hasten to relieve him of that guilt - and his life, as he deserves.

Then you will see the rise of the men of the double standard-the men who live by force, yet count on those who live by trade to create the value of their looted money - the men who are the hitchhikers of virtue. In a moral society, these are the criminals, and the statutes are written to protect you against them. But when a society establishes criminals-by-right and looters-by-law - men who use force to seize the wealth of disarmed victims - then money becomes it's creator's avenger. Such looters believe it is safe to rob defenseless men, once they've passed a law to disarm them. But their loot becomes the magnet for other looters, who get it from them as they got it. Then the race goes, not to the ablest at production, but to those most ruthless at brutality. When force is the standard, the murderer wins over the pickpocket. And then that society vanishes, in a spread of ruins and slaughter.

Producers and investors are the right and left hands of prosperity. Our politicians want to cut off the hands of investors and loot the fruit of the producer's labor all in the "national interest." No one will invest and no one will produce if no one but the looters will prosper.

First Black President Reinstates Slavery

A true irony. By signing the National Service Bill, Barack Obama will institute mandatory "volunteer" service for school children and "opportunities" for older Americans to "give back" to their communities. Of particular interest is these opportunities include "political or legislative advocacy." Just call them Obama Jugen.

"Most people think national service is for young people," said a statement issued by John Gomperts, president of Civic Ventures, a group that promotes opportunities for older people. "And it is. But once President Obama signs this legislation, service will be for people of all ages."

The Richmond Tea Party, The Begining

The Big White Dog and I were at the Richmond Tea Party with my wife and a friend. The Patrick Henry Impersonator, one of the Patriots of Virginia did a fine job of performing that famous speech known by the statement spoken in unison by the crowd, "Give me liberty, or give me death!"

The crowd was estimated by one of the mounted police officers at 3500. You can see by the pictures that the park was packed beyond capacity. I arrived at about 6:30 and passed a steady stream of people leaving who had come early. There was a tightly packed crowd with many more coming in when we joined in. Tucker and I walked the perimeter meeting many people. The crown was the same mixture one would find at any park on any sunny day. Older couples, to young families were all braving rainy cold weather to make a statement of frustration with those who are supposed to represent us but instead ignore our letters, phone calls and emails, the only acknowledgment being some boiler plate generated by computer. They no more read our correspondence that the laws they pass.

The politicians seem to wish we would all just disappear. They dismiss us as elitist , wealthy taxpayers and anti government right wing extremists. Only Fox News has made any attempt to report what we are doing. CNN just sent out a hit job reporter the try and bully people she interviewed. I say let them ignore us at their peril.

The Constitution and Old Ironsides

It was altogether fitting that among the tea party protests mounted across the country yesterday, one was held at Boston. - Fitting not just because that was the location of the first one many years ago, but also because a United States warship was built there in 1797, a 44-gun frigate christened the US CONSTITUTION, one of the first six warships provided by the Congress. Under full sail, she was a mighty fighting ship to behold.

The CONSTITUTION was well built, well manned and well skippered, such that she spent more time at sea and won more victories than any other US warship of its time. Yet, she came through her many battles with so little damage to her hull that she was nicknamed, "Old Ironsides."

In 1830, the Navy decided to demolish the CONSTITUTION. But, when the American people learned of the Navy plans, they were outraged. And Oliver Wendell Holmes on September 16, 1830 published his poem, "Old Ironsides."

"Ay, tear her tattered ensign down!" he wrote.
"Long has it waved on high,
And many an eye has danced to see
That banner in the sky;"

"Her deck, once red with heroes' blood,"

* * * * "

In the context of current counter-piracy operations involving the US Navy, it is significant that the CONSTITUTION was Commodore Preble's flagship in the war with Tripoli; and one of her captains was William Bainbridge, whose name is carried by the US destroyer that responded to the capture of the American commercial cargo ship, MAERSK ALABAMA in April of 2009.

Now, just as it was important to preserve the grand old warship CONSTITUTION in 1830, it is extremely important today that we revoke the unauthorized changes made to our sacred governing Constitution by the Franklin Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson, George Bush and Barack Obama administrations.

Following are examples of the damaging blows suffered by the Constitution.

Massive contorted use of the commerce clause by FDR.
Annulment of property rights in 2005 by the New London, Connecticut city government.
Mr Obama violating separation of powers by authorizing funding of embrionic stem cell research, and establishing a 250,000-member uniformed national security force.
Mr Bush and Mr Obama nationalizing financial and auto industries.
Mr Obama and Congress requiring the states to accept "stimulus" payments from the federal government.
The Obama executive branch attacking a private citizen, Rush Limbaugh for his expression of political views.
The 111th Congress in early 2009 crafting punitive legislation with a bill of attainder aimed at individual corporate executive officers.
Mr Obama issuing to police chiefs and sheriffs nationwide a Department of Homeland Security intelligence report labelling as potential terrorists returning combat veterans, anti-abortionists and anti-illegal aliens.
Mr Obama asserting his post-national, global views, at the expense of United States sovereignty.

Our precious Constitution: "Tear her tattered ensign [Old Glory] down?" NEVER!!

Rather, let us patch the gaping holes and remove the destabilizing superstructure erected by traitors and greedy politicians.

The Anti Tea Party Campaign Has Begun

It appears someone of means is working to sabotage the Tea Party Movement. I got this message from Eric McGrane Of the Richmond Tea Party.

There is a robo-call telephone campaign being waged against the tea party event that is misinforming the public as to the correct date/time for the event.

Please be aware that the event is **STILL** being held on April 15th @ 6:00 at Kanawha Plaza in downtown Richmond.

Please check with any others that you know are attending to be sure that they still have the correct date/time.

I assume our event is being viewed as a threat, because we're now seeing dirty tricks being waged against our efforts. Fight on!

The powers that be would like nothing better than this movement to fizzle out and go away. What they fear most is an open discussion of what is happening and what the goal of those in government is. The nature of government is tyranny, the goal of politicians is power, the obstacle of these is an informed and engaged citizenry. These events are the beginning of our effort to bring our government back into the boundaries of our constitution. If this movement can be nipped in the bud the tyrants will have won. I for one will not go away.

Freedom and Tyranny, a book review

I stood in line with about 1000 others who were merely seeking to have a book signed by its author. The significant aspect was this book was not some work of popular fiction but the manifesto of political conservatives.

Many are frustrated with our elected officials. Mark Levin has made a name for himself as a talk show host pointing out the great divide between the citizens and the politicians who they elect to secure the rights enumerated in our Constitution. In his book "Liberty and Tyranny" Mr. Levin makes clear that we are no longer choosing between Republican and Democrat but between Statists and our Constitutional Republic. Both parties have become the agents of statism, nether is reposive to the voter but seeks only the acquisition and exercise of power.revealing the objective of the Statist

What I found in the book was the clear articulation of what I have always believed. Each of the first five chapters lays out the reason and principle behind the Constitution and the form of government the founders chose to give us. He makes the case that the Constitution secures rights for individual citizens because the founders recognized true liberty could only be individual liberty. Conversely he demonstrates how threatening individualism is to the aims of the statist.

For the Statist, Liberty is not a blessing but the enemy. It is not possible to achieve Utopia if individuals are free to go their own way. The individual must be dehumanized and his nature delegitimized. Through persuasion, deception, and coercion, the individual must be subordinated to the state....

Then in a later chapter, he lays out in an easy to understand manner how the federal government is supposed to work and how the states under federalism should be the incubators of solutions to the issues of society. Quoting justice Louis D. Brandeis:

"A single courageous state may, if its citizens choose, serve as a laboratory, and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country."

This of course has been precluded by the extra constitutional mandates of the federal government that forces the states into a conformity that serves the power hungry politicians in Washington rather than allowing free citizens to seek their own solutions.

Subsequent chapters deal with specific issues such as immigration, welfare and environmentalism. Each states the intention of the statist and the violence he does to our constitution to justify such things.

Finally the author sums up the course of action that the conservative must take to regain the government we are meant to have with the freedoms it guarantees. This was the chapter that I found most valuable. The others just reinforced what I already knew. The epilogue lay out a call to action that will take a long term outlook and effort. We did not get here overnight and we will not undo the damage overnight. As the poverb states, a journey of a 100 miles begins with the first step. This book resonates with those who believe in the individual which is why 1000 individuals waited hours to have such an important book signed by its author.

How about dropping the nonsense and bringing the Federal Government back within its constitutional boundaries? That more than anything else would solve our economic woes because ignorant and meddling politicians would be prevented from diminishing our liberties and stealing our wealth.

This nitwit voted for the first bailout bill and for the 90% tax on AIG bonuses. Hardly a conservative. He needs to understand the difference between policy and principle. If he were acting from principle he would not need to do surveys to find out what policies to pursue.

It is this disconnect that from what citizens are trying to tell their representatives that drives me to want to see the whole house of cards come tumbling down. Tea Party Movement Growing

I may be hard to find any news about the Tea Parties that are springing up because the mainstream Media just want to ignore them in hopes they will go away. Today there is a large rally in Orlando Florida. The local news just had to cover it because there were just too many people there to pretend it wasn't happening. Police estimates are a crowd of 3000. One can see pictures of the event here.

We are a sovereign Christian nation with a superb Constitution.

Years ago, an orator reverently placed the Holy Bible on the lectern, saying, "This is for those who believe in God." Then he just as reverently placed on the lectern a copy of the Constitution, saying, "This is for those who respect the law." And then he pulled out a dagger and thrust it into the lectern, hissing, "And this is for the rest!"

Crooked legislators who accepted campaign donations from monster financial institutions they pressured into providing sub-prime loans to prospective voters then distracted the electorate by using the Internal Revenue Service of the Executive Branch to punish American International Group executives by using the Judicial Branch's authority to indict, prosecute and convict 73 United States citizens. So much for separation of powers. And justice.

A World Net Daily article posted on 27 November 2008 reported on a 2001 WBEZ FM radio station interview with Illinois state legislator Barack Hussein Obama. In the interview, Mr Obama said the United States has suffered from a fundamentally flawed Constitution that does not mandate or allow for redistribution of wealth. He said a "redistributive change" is needed, and cited a failure of the Warren court to "break free from the essential constraints" in the United States Constitution and launch a major distribution of wealth. He said the Supreme Court never ventured into the basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. He spoke of the Constitution as a "charter of negative liberties. [sic] Says what the states can't do to you. [sic] Says what the federal government can't do to you, but doesn't say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf." He mentioned the "tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change."

My Email to Rep Rob Wittman R-VA on the Bailout Bounuses

I am shocked that you would vote to tax the bonuses of the AIG exects. Congress gave to bailout money to the Treasury Dept with NO Stipulations on how the money was to be used. The stimulus bill protected those bonuses. No conservative could possibly justify a tax rate of 90% for any reason. There is ZERO Constitutional authority for such nonsense. I did not contact you about this issue because I thought you were clear thinking. I was sadly mistaken.

Federal Reserve Planting the Seeds of Inflation

The Federal Reserve, or more accurately the government, will be buying 30 year treasury bonds to "promote economic recovery and to preserve price stability,". While this action may get some immediate intended effect the result will be hyper inflation. There is only one way the Fed can purchase these bonds, by printing money. They are printing $1 trillion. All savings are in danger of losing value and the reason for this action, to keep interest rats low, will be thwarted because no sane banker will willingly lend at a low rate when inflation will destroy the value of that loan.

If one wished to dry up the credit market, this is the single best course of action to take. Stacked up on top of the massive deficit spending already in the pipe line and we are quickly heading toward a third world economy.

Events such as this will do little to change things but are the first step to making an organized effort to do so. Along with the encouragement of joining with like minded people over an important issue it is the time to beginning the networking necessary for future action.

Obama Plans to Raise Money by Charging Veterans for Medical Care

One has to marvel at the hutspa of this guy. Military Veterans, wounded in service to thier country would have to have private insurance reemburse the VA for continued treatment of service related injuries. These are citizens who were promiced the country they gave their bodies for would cover the cost of their care.

WASHINGTON, March 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The leader of the nation's largest veterans organization says he is "deeply disappointed and concerned" after a meeting with President Obama today to discuss a proposal to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. The Obama administration recently revealed a plan to require private insurance carriers to reimburse the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in such cases.

"It became apparent during our discussion today that the President intends to move forward with this unreasonable plan," said Commander David K. Rehbein of The American Legion. "He says he is looking to generate $540-million by this method, but refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it."

The Commander, clearly angered as he emerged from the session said, "This reimbursement plan would be inconsistent with the mandate ' to care for him who shall have borne the battle' given that the United States government sent members of the armed forces into harm's way, and not private insurance companies. I say again that The American Legion does not and will not support any plan that seeks to bill a veteran for treatment of a service connected disability at the very agency that was created to treat the unique need of America's veterans!"

One should not be shocked, promises to Obama are like toilet paper, use them and toss them.

All this because he wants to raise some cash for some other vote buying scheme. Maybe if he's so hard up he should cancel one of his many parties at the white house such as the St. Patrick's Day - budget bash scheduled for the 17th.

The Oppression of Public Debt

For your edification I present this quote from Thomas Jefferson warning us of the danger of government debt.

"I am not among those who fear the people. They, and not the rich, are our dependence for continued freedom. And to preserve their independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty
or profusion and servitude.

If we run into such debt, as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our calling and our creeds as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes; have no time to think, no means of calling our miss-managers to account but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers.

We are so there. Everything is taxed. Even the property and homes we own are so heavily taxed one can easily claim we no longer own it but rent from our masters in the form of taxes. They never consider doing with less but only look for more ways to gather more. Even law enforcement is utilized not to make us safe but to extract more of our wealth through fines and fees. We vote for individuals to be our representatives yet they no sooner enter office than they become the agents of government and our adversaries. It is all the more vexing that we are forced to provide the means of our own oppression through the taxes they heap upon us from all directions.

On April 15, 2009 there will be Tea Parties held throughout the nation. Join one and take the first step toward returning our freedom.
