“The Outsider” – Mr. Gold finds an unwilling test subject to see if a spell he has concocted will allow him to cross the border of Storybrooke — without losing his memory — and go in search of his son, Bae; Belle stumbles upon a vengeful Hook in the Storybrooke harbor whose main goal is to eradicate Rumplestiltskin; and Mary Margaret and David go house hunting in search of a bigger place to live. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Belle meets Mulan as the two set out to slay a fearsome beast called the Yaoguai, who has been ravaging the land, on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, JANUARY 13 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Ausiello: Mitovich — who just spent a long weekend in Vancouver, where Once shoots — hears that one of the princesses will be seen soon after the show returns from its holiday break (on Jan. 6).

We know that the princess in question is Mulan, since Jamie Chung and Julian Morris (Prince Philip) were spotted on set. They filmed for either episode 11 or 12, I believe.

Question: Any fresh intel on who Ethan Embry is playing on Once Upon a Time? —Jenny
Ausiello: Jennifer Morrison knows about as much as the rest of us — which isn’t much. “[All we] know is he’s an outsider, he is a stranger and he is not a fairytale character,” she says, before quickly adding, “at least he’s not someone anyone recognizes from fairytale land.”

Ethan Embry’s character – whose name we don’t know yet – will make his debut in episode 11, called “The Outsider”, which is also supposed to be the Belle-centric episode. The casting call calls him “Barrett” – but the name could be changed. He’s described as “in his 30s, kind and smart, but also has a very dark side and has beliefs and a way of life that he will fight fiercely to defend.”
