Lost and almost found

Vision is hard to find. Especially when you are trying to create it from nothing. I am a visual person and if I can’t envision it, I can’t create it. I have spent about 4 weeks trying to envision a plan for my small creation and stumbled upon this picture that birdman took on a trip to Vegas. The beauty of this image is exactly what I needed to get the creative juices flowing.

Right Bank Babies – gift bag

I have been totally pumped for 2 weeks!! Why you ask? Because One Bird Alley had the chance to be part of a gift bag. For those of you who don’t know, this is a great opportunity for any one. Lots of exposure and lots of fun. Here are some photos of getting everything ready.

The bags were for Right Bank Babies and arranged by Magnolia PR.

Google Reader, experiment in necessity.

A few days ago I told my hubby, and resident geek, that I was ready to learn about google reader. I didn’t know how it worked or if it was something I needed, but in an effort to be more efficient with my online presence I knew I had to do something.

What I didn’t realize is what it would mean for my reading time…533 posts left to read. I’ve been at this for almost 2 hours.

When I turned on my computer tonight it was at 695. Oh well. I’m trying something new and that’s what I wanted for this experience.

I know…it’s been awhile. The last few months have been amazing. So much going on and so much to share.

So while I finish putting the last minute touches on some additional posts, here is a peek at some samples of fabric I was able to scan. I love technology.

I wish it was good enough to simply have a great product. In case you were wondering…it’s not. You have to package it well also. I have struggled with this because I have really wanted to keep the packaging to a minimum because I hate the idea of putting money into something that people will throw away.

Now that I have poured out my heart, here is what we ended up with. The Gift Set comes in the flat shirt box, and the Towels come in the larger boxes.

I really like the way they came out.

Now for the pros and cons. PRO: Love the simplicity of the overall look. Creates a little mystery about what is inside. CONS: No company information on the outside. A little pricey per item to use a box, it almost has to be limited to the “GIFT BOX” option rather than the POP (point-of-purchase) packaging. But the biggest CON of all, once the box is closed you can’t see inside. I couldn’t tell which towel was which. ARGH!! What to do…what to do?

Hopefully I’ll have it figured out on the next post.

Gift Set for Little Boy & 2 big brothers

This set was a challenge. I have known the mom-to-be for many years and she has a great sense of style. I didn’t want to give her any standard issue baby gift. Her colors: Brown and Baby Blue.

As the search began I was stumped. I just couldn’t find the right blue, the right brown, the right print…the list goes on. It just wasn’t right. After 3 different trips to the fabric store I was almost ready to throw in the towel and go a totally different direction when this fabric came into view.

Now I know what you’re thinking – it’s not brown and baby blue. True, but it is brown, blue, green, white, and a teal. This seemed like the perfect compromise to my dilemma. It created this beautiful set.

THEN, it was time for the brothers. Actually in the scheme of things, they were way easier. My inspiration: MARIO and LUIGI. Perfect. And for those who don’t know. They are the heros of Nintendo video games. I grew up with them and am so excited to know they are still around. So if Mario and Luigi were a fabric – what would they look like? (NOTE: I don’t do license character print. That’s too easy) Check it out.

I am so excited with how these turned out. I am hoping the BIG BROTHERS like them as well.
