Each year, Bob and Su (otherwise known as Grandma and Pop-Pop to my kids) host a fourth of July picnic for the whole family at their home. The kids soaked in the time with their cousins&#8230;and were literally soaked, too &#8211; at least they were while they played water guns! Thankfully the heatwave held off [...]

A New Old Trail

<img width="50" height="33" src="http://mercerfamily.com/mercerjournal/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/IMG_7002.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="" title="IMG_7002" />
We live right by several state parks. One runs right along the side of our neighborhood. Bob and the kids had tried hiking back there a few years ago, but while walking they encountered a big buck and decided they had better casually, but swiftly, depart the woods. We decided to give it another go [...]

Slow Cooker Beef Stew

<img width="50" height="32" src="http://mercerfamily.com/mercerjournal/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/beef_stew.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="" title="beef_stew" />
Beef Stew and I have had a love/hate relationship. I have never felt good about serving the over-salted, processed, canned stuff, the packet kits never taste just right, and my from-scratch attempts have been sketchy at best. Until now! I found this recipe online and tweaked it to make it my own. Yum.
