With reality TV shows not showing a sign of slowing down soon, it was refreshing to hear that a real COMIC book series will premiere this fall (sorry not a fan of Arrow on the CW). I'm talking about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is a spin off from the Avengers movie, I was happy to see that Agent Coulson lives as one can see from the trailer:

I am really stoked for this! I don't have to keep watching carton repeats as much anymore lol!

Late Night Craving

I should be sleeping right now, since I have finished putting these curlers in my hair but I'm not. There are never enough hours in the day to check out the new stuff online! I went bananas when I spotted this Rachel Pally dress on Shopbop. It's has a cut-out back and the most perfect length. Simple, understated, and of course, a little sexy. Everyone knows I love my maxi dresses! I want to get this dress as a birthday gift to myself (it's in two weeks!).

I am still trying to narrow down the color I think it's between the black and the stripe. Thoughts on what color I should get?

My inner superhero

Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves? Maybe I shouldn't say 'we' but I know I am. I am always told that I am doing great job with work/the blog and usually I am never satisfied. I push myself hard to reach my goals, it's a good/bad habit to have to live with. Doing that at times is very tiring as I get older so I am striving to do that less.

I needed to find my inner superhero and I'm doing it everyday:

A few pointers I am learning:

Be yourself
Time time for yourself
Be nice to people
Believe in yourself
Look back for positive reasons (I know easier said than done!)
Take a step back and be grateful for what you have and the people in your life
Volunteer and give back to those less fortunate
Smile

Helmut Lang has once again wowed me with their spring collection they just get how a non-girly girly does sexy. I'm currently in love the new Gala Knit dress from the collection! The wide-sleeve jersey deep v-neck top and a fitted body defines the perfect dress for me. This dress shows the right amount of skin. It's so freakin sexy! This dress reminds me so much of Joan Smalls and Chanel Iman (The queens of cool in my eyes), it makes my head spin! It's a total POWER dress you can wear to the office or a night out! At the moment, I am loving it during the day with a sleek black pump and a fishnet tight for cool spring days!

I feel lucky to have another piece of Helmut Lang goodness in my closet! Thank You Ebay! :)

Nautical Getaway

How amaze is this editorial from Vogue Paris May 13! It inspires me to go on some crazy voyage in the middle of nowhere with nothing but grungy layers in navy and whites . A lightweight beanie and a canvas wedge makes this look complete for me!

What a great editorial! I like the fact that the styling and photography makes each look it's very wearable where a lot of editorials nowadays don't look that way at all!

Looking at this tonight has got me thinking: I need a vacation! I text my friend earlier about doing a quick getaway. Of course she says I should plan it lol. I'll add it on the to do list next week. Thanks Essence, I always enjoy our text convos!

I hope everyone's week is going great so far. Doing a shoot for work on the resort season, then marketing the next project. Hopefully the Knicks win Friday, that last game was a shocker.. boo hoo lol

Out on the Weekend

Hey guys!

Once 6:00 hit this past Friday my mind was off work! Everyday for me this week has been go, go, go so I couldn't wait to finally sit back and do absolutely nothing...or absolutely everything this weekend.

Friday night I caught up with my friend Steph, we chatted about work, fashion, boys, and life. We were watching The Knicks/Celtics game.

She couldn't get over my Iron Man case lol she got a shot of Iron Man during halftime:

Saturday I took it easy it was great for once, I worked out, napped, then met my friend Aiesha to stop at Loveday 31, our favorite vintage spot. I have been eyeing this dress when Loveday posted it on instagram a few days ago:

Ivona the owner of Loveday 31, was nice enough to take the dress down for me to try it on. I didn't want to take it off! I love the 70's vibe, I can rock it with boots or platform sandals. It is the perfect dress for spring/summer hijinks that I am sure to get into.

Aiesha ended up with two items with some urging from me. One was a skater dress, and the other is a sequin top I love the oversize tshirt inspired fit!

We ended up meeting our friend's later at a beer garden nearby. It was an awesome time as always, we laughed, danced, took shots, and watched the game.

Off to work I go tomorrow but I'm excited for the week ahead: prepping for fall 13 press, shooting resort 13 at the Lower East Side, shooting for the blog, and seeing the Knicks beat the Celtics at the Garden on Wednesday ha!

The sun is out and the city was calling my name on Sunday! I have been feeling amazing now that I am working out more often, showing off the curves, and eating right. There is nothing like a lazy Sunday where I can breathe and explore!

There is always a song during the springtime that always gets stuck in my head, right now it is "National Anthem" by Lana Del Rey. I know I'm a little late but it's a cool song to have on repeat exploring the city!

Hey guys!

A few weeks ago, I stopped by Eleven C Consignment shop in Park Slope. The boutique focuses on big names in great condition.

My purchase: An authentic Pucci 100% silk scarf. The a price for a 100% silk Pucci scarf in department stores/vintage store is can be from $350-$600. For those not familiar with the designer brand Pucci, it is was on the most iconic brands of the 20^th century. Designer Emilio Pucci was born to one of Florence, Italy's oldest and most noble families. His designs first caught the eyes of fashion insiders during the 1940's.

I got the scarf below for $120, an yes it's authentic! A lot of people sell the knock off version on eBay, ioffer stating the scarf is authentic.I usually wear scarfs in the winter time but lately I have been trying to get out of my comfort zone and try new things in regards to my style: adding more color and purchasing more staples in my closet.

Eleven C boutique has a flagship store, located at 1st Avenue and 11th Street in Manhattan, the boutique is in its third year of buying, selling, and trading high-end apparel and accessories. Their section location in Park Slope opened a month ago.

The price points, are reasonable for the labels. Customers can expect to find jeans from J Brand to Burberry ($35-75), dresses from Diane von Fustenberg to Chanel ($250). Designer handbags depending on the brand, will run you up into the thousands typical of consignment shops.

Besides wearing the scarf around my neck, lol for the money I paid I made sure there were a few places where I can wear it:

I am excited about my purchase as a Pucci scarf is a staple to have in every closet, they are timeless! As I get older, I rather invest in timeless pieces than trendy pieces that last a season or two.

My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone affected by the bombing that took place during the Boston Marathon. Postings of sadness and anger swept social media/blogs yesterday and today. I was feeling the same way, but instead of me doing a post saying "how sorry I am" I figured I can post ways for people to help. I did have a post scheduled today but didn't feel comfortable with what was going on right now.

One Fund Boston
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston's Mayor Tom Menino says the city has established 'One Fund Boston'. "At times like this we are one state, one city and once people," Governor Patrick said. Boston based insurance company John Hancock has already committed $1 million to the fund, which will raise money for families most affected by the bombings. Donate to Onefundboston.org

Give Blood

Governor Patrick said there is a need for blood on a sustained basis. Anyone wishing to give blood should keep checking with local hospitals and organizations like the Red Cross in the near future to see where the need may be and where to donate.

Anything aside from that mentioned above is a scam. One Twitter account went live within an hour of the tragedy, claiming to donate $1 for Boston Marathon for every retweet.

Last night was the official launch party for the liscensing program at the famous Meltdown Comics in Hollywood:

The juxtaposition of retro design elements and incorporating them into modern silhouette's has been a big trend for 2013. I am stoked to see that Junk Food is part of this launch! I remember watching the 1960's Batman TV show when I was younger, whenever a tv station is holding a marathon for it now, I make it a point to watch :)

DC also revealed artwork for its all-new digital comic book series BATMAN '66, launching in summer 2013. The digital comic book features many fan-favorite characters like my girl Catwoman, The Riddler, and The Joker. Written by Jeff Parker, the series will feature cover art by Michael Allred and the first issue will be drawn by Eisner Award winner Jonathan Case. BATMAN '66 will also be collected and available for sale in monthly print issues.

I was fortunate to get a few moments with Nastasia to discuss her career in modeling. Her interview can be found below:

OCO: How did you start modeling?

N.O:I first got the idea I wanted to work towards modeling when a former supermodel starting talking to me in Wholefoods back home when I was 9. I was way too young but after I grew during high school I came to NY and got signed doing mostly direct bookings and fashion week. After I finished school I moved to NY and have lived here ever since!

O.C.O: What is your favorite show you did during this past NYFW and why?

N.O: My favorite show I did this fashion week was Ruffian, the clothes were absolutely amazing, gothic romantic with bold prints lots of black, some corsets and an underlying equestrian theme.

O.C.O: Do you remember your first NYFW gig? What was it?

N.O: Yes I do remember my first NYFW gig! I was still in high school but got flown in just to try my luck at the Calvin Klein exclusive casting, and I got it! It was an amazing first experience and one that I will definitely never forget!

O.C.O: How do you prep for a show/shoot?

N.O: I try to get as much sleep as I can, I also will try to eat breakfast and pack some fruit with me for on set to munch on and grab a coffee before I start working so I am fully energized.

O.C.O: Best perk about being a model?

N.O: Travelling to amazing places for work and meeting amazing people that you keep in contact with.

O.C.O:Do you see yourself modeling in 10 years? Yes or No? Why?

N.O: I’m not sure if I see myself modeling in 10 years, at least not full-time. I would like to stay in the fashion industry for sure but I eventually want to go to college and work towards a career in fashion, taking my experiences from modeling with me. If I can, I would like to still do some modeling work as long as I can but definitely I’m not planning on it being my only career throughout my life.

O.C.O: Who inspires you?

N.O: The mature/established models in the industry that have used their success in a positive way, either giving back to a chosen charity or to the modeling community themselves with their own organizations or with something like the model alliance. I admire that some can be extremely successful in what it is that they do (modeling) and have chosen such a positive way and idea of giving back in some way because of this success.

O.C.O: What projects are you looking forward to in the upcoming weeks/months ahead?

N.O: I am looking forward to working with my new agency in China: Modelline. I will be going for Beijing fashion week/ to work for the next 2 months. I have been to China before but never for work so I am excited to work in a new market. I also recently switched to Major Modeling Management in NY so I am excited to work with their team as well.

Bright blue skies+ sun= Spring! Spring like weather dominated this past weekend ironically when daylight savings time kicked in! Brooklynites like myself were out and about soaking in the beautiful weather as you can see.

I always considered myself a tomboy ever since I was a kid, girls would like sundresses, I would like overalls, comic books, and Batman cartoons! I have been obsessing over this "Pretty Tomboy" shirt for weeks now and decided to get it. I balance my tomboy style with a vegan legging, ankle boots, and a minimalistic clutch. I have been using this clutch from Phillip Noel for a few weeks now and it is becoming a staple in my wardrobe!

The tease of spring weather this past weekend has been so amazing for my creativity. There are so many projects coming up it's a very exciting time for me, cheers to spring!

Sisterhood

Ever noticed the way the other women look at a successful or attractive woman when she walks into a room? The sideways glances, the whispering, the rolling of the eyes. Remember those girls that talked behind your back in high school when they didn’t even know you? Remember when your college sorority hated the other sorority just because some of the girls were pretty and dated the guys the other sorority liked? The “who does she think she is” comments? Or landing a significant job, only to be bullied by other women you worked with? I have, and if you are a woman reading this I am sure you have too.

It is even more intense 11 years ago since I graduated high school with social media. I was disappointed to see a news story about Rihanna and her best friend Melissa tweeting a picture of them watching Ciara sing acapella to her fans. The picture was making fun of what Ciara was doing instead of celebrating it.

It is disappointing to see, as teenagers/young women look up to these ladies.

I'll be honest I have been guilty of playing the mean girl as well, I did it because it was done to me first similar to what happened to Ciara. I saw comments women made on facebook or women being rude to me at a mutual friend's party, and yes it made me angry so much I did things I regretted. As I get older, I am realizing it's not worth it, there should be more "sisterhood", more ignoring, and less beefing. We should be supporting one another and praising each other's accomplishments, not putting them down. I plan to do this going forward, ironically, March is women's history month. Hopefully more women will do the same so there will be less mean girls and more sisterhood in 2013.

Not-so-sloppy seconds with Etsy Vintage

My recent vintage find is this awesome coat I ordered from Etsy in January, just cost me $22, yes $22! Those not familiar with Etsy should get familiar with it, it's awesome.

Etsy is focused on handmade or vintage items. All vintage items must be at least 20 years old. It makes it different from Ebay in regards to what is really vintage or not!

Prices on Etsy range, which is another reason why I love the site!

The Power of Me Time

Hello March! Seriously , hello March! Ha! February was such a busy month for fashion pr girls: fashion week for some, then the trade shows in between, making sure product is placed in trade magazines, and launching fall 13 seasons on top of still promoting Spring 13/Summer 13 to media outlets.

Being burnt out was an understatement this the past few weeks and honestly, I felt myself getting 'fashion out'. My blog, the place where I have 100% control of content, I was feeling 'fashion out'. Work isn't work usually, I love what I do and the thrill of it all. There is truly never a dull moment and I wouldn't have it any other way. I am fortunate to do what l love.

The past few weekends I deliberately stayed in Brooklyn and did absolutely nothing but just relax, walk around the neighborhood and spent time with family. It felt great not to have to be somewhere or have to do something. I'm making it a point to make my weekends this spring more about "me" it doesn't mean my passion for fashion has left, not at all! If anything it increases it!

Today, I got the official confirmation on the new project I will be working on. I can't announce it to you guys yet but it's NYC based, retail, and I get to plan a launch party! I am coming back to work this week refreshed and cannot wait to get started developing a marketing plan, brainstorming, and researching.

If you work or don't work in the fashion industry we all have something in common with having the feeling of being burned out. The best solution is to step back and devote time to yourself.

Some of my bangles, the compact was a gift from my mother when I was 14.

My vanity means a lot because it has a lot of memories a lot if items on it tell a story. It is also a reminder to be grateful for the people I have in my life and what I have :)

The Black Swan Effect

Last Sunday I had the chance to go to The Black Swan, a pub just a 10 minute walk from my house!

Formerly an auto-body shop, The Black Swan's interior is rustic but sleek; with semi-exposed brick walls, wooden tables, and a back porch that has outdoor seating.

For a Sunday, a week after the blizzard, the place was packed! A few friend's have been telling me about the pub so we decided to go and catch up. Irish coffee, life talks, and mimosas were on the menu!

Their extensive beer selection and appetizers is motivating me to come back sooner or later especially for Friday night basketball games! I came back for take out on Saturday, it was a raining day and I couldn't get brunch out of my head. The general manager James remember me from my last visit, lol I felt special!

Brunch at the pub is available Monday-Friday 11:30am-4:30pm, Saturday-Sunday 10am-4pm. The Black Swan has been open for 2 years now and it is one of the "go-to's" for dining in Bed-Stuy. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe, but it is a spot to to take a friend or if you are (like me at times) too exhausted to go into the city. Stop by and you will not be disappointed!

Kos' NYFW Fall 13 Diary #5: Clover Canyon Fall 13

Voluminous skirts, original prints, and dresses with sculpted sleeves; were among the highlights of Clover Canyon’s Fall 2013 collection at Lincoln Center. Clover Canyon is designed and produced in Los Angeles. They are known for their eclectic prints that showing the joyful spirit of California.

The sweatshirt trend is not going away anytime soon, thank goodness!

The Fall 13 collection is an homage to Russia with lavish prints, crystal ballerina flats, and vivid colors. The design team was inspired by Imperial Russia referencing the country’s “extreme luxury, extreme ideals, extreme vastness and extreme passion”. This was apparent in the background of the Siberian plain and a Russian palace.

A treat for all that attended was to see actual ballet dancers who stood en pointe throughout the presentation.

Sorry I've been mia it's been hectic, kind of over it but at least it's better to be hectic than not busy at all. Glad the weekend is almost here.

Kos' NYFW Fall 13 Diary #4: Stoner Chic at Highland

That quote was the start of the show program given to attendees of the Highland Fall 13 presentation. The presentation took place in the Highline loft in the Meatpacking district. I liked going to presentations like these that display the collection differently besides having the models stand on a platform for 2 hours, the presentation was fun, interactive and entertaining! The space felt like an old skool house party with Blue Ribbon beer, misty smoke and dim lighting.

Kos' NYFW Fall 13 Diary #3: Charlotte Ronson

A couple of fearless fashion soldiers and myself braved the elements of Friday night's blizzard and attended Charlotte Ronson's Fall 13 presentation. I attended the presentation with my niece Akua (check out her blog: A Stylish Jedi)

Collection was inspired by Ronson's English upbringing. The presentation had a relaxed vibe as 60's music from Dusty Springfield provided the soundtrack. Colored leather and sporty details in the knits were my favs!


This color-blocked blazer was my favorite!

Before the show started Akua and I went exploring at Lincoln Center we goofed off at the TRESemmé booth, it was fun spending time with her:
