I will watch it, although I know I’m not going to like it. I don’t know why the entertainment industry insists in ruining our childhood memories.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I used to love the Smurfs. Actually, I still love the Smurfs. I don’t know why, but I always thought they were really cool, and the TV series they had in the 80’s was the best of the best. Of course, it’s been a long time, and I haven’t seen the Smurfs for years, which is why now I am nostalgic about that better more fun period of my life.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I was recently looking for a vintage Smurf puzzle I used to own owned by Milton Bradley. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to find. It’s like 1983 never existed on the internet. As I’m pretty frustrated about that, and I want to reminiscent about these little blue devils, I thought that re-watching the TV series will be on my list for this year. Can you believe they made 9 seasons of the Smurfs? Nine! It looks like only two seasons are on DVD. If you’re interested, you can start with season 1, and &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001SERA6O/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B001SERA6O" target="_blank"&gt;buy The Smurfs Season One on amazon&lt;/a&gt;. Amazon has a few more seasons on Instant Video, but how I wished I could own the full smurfs series on DVD.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Alright, here comes Gargamel, so now I need to go.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-222516019879705532?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2012/02/those-sneaky-little-blue-devils.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-NCFj1NE-0g0/TywDHL6n2gI/AAAAAAAAAhY/cNUtqH-XyFo/s72-c/ott012_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-6489250807361696179</guid><pubDate>Mon, 30 Jan 2012 03:09:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2012-01-29T22:10:53.301-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">art</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">movies</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">bluray</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">dvd</category><title>Sucker Punch -  two-disc extended edition</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EPYZUI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B004EPYZUI" target="_blank"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ott010" border="0" alt="ott010" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-R54-D5tDpmU/TyYJ5TSAf0I/AAAAAAAAAfs/MqoJsqtxAEU/ott010%25255B120%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="185" height="333"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;This blog is purely about things I like and own, or wish I owned.&amp;nbsp; In this case, it was going to be about &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1848568533/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=1848568533"&gt;Sucker Punch: The Art of the Movie by Zack Snyder.&lt;/a&gt; However, that book is hard to find nowadays, and if you find it, it’ll be expensive.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Why &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0978764/" target="_blank"&gt;Sucker Punch&lt;/a&gt;? well, I didn’t think it was a great movie. I didn’t hate it, but something I really really like is that it was 100% eyecandy. No matter if you like the story or not, you can’t deny that the visuals where pretty nice (although some of the cg effects were extremely bad, the concepts, art and style were excellent).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;So, yes, &lt;strong&gt;Sucker Punch&lt;/strong&gt; is not really a masterpiece, but it’s entertaining. It’s one of those movies I’d own on Bluray if I owned a Blue-ray player and hd tv (well, my PS3 plays blu-ray discs, true, but I still haven’t bought and hd tv).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Anyway, if you liked &lt;strong&gt;Sucker Punch&lt;/strong&gt; and you still don’t have it in your collection, &lt;strong&gt;buy&lt;/strong&gt; the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EPYZUI/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B004EPYZUI" target="_blank"&gt;Sucker Punch two-disc extended edition&lt;/a&gt; from amazon and let me know if it’s any good.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-6489250807361696179?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2012/01/sucker-punch-two-disc-extended-edition.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-R54-D5tDpmU/TyYJ5TSAf0I/AAAAAAAAAfs/MqoJsqtxAEU/s72-c/ott010%25255B120%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-5501709757861624346</guid><pubDate>Sun, 22 Jan 2012 18:12:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2012-01-22T13:12:06.160-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">cool</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">gear</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">zombie invasion</category><title>UCO Stormproof matches</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00345Q1WE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B00345Q1WE"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ott009" border="0" alt="ott009" align="left" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-7PufgShKMNY/TxxRdZmX2qI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/nkRN3gosia0/ott009%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="240"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I’ve never been in a life or dead situation where my life depended on lighting a fire; but now I know that if I were to go somewhere where that sort of situation might be a possibility, then I’d go with some stormproof matches.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Those things are insane. It’s not like they work in harsh conditions under a lot of rain. No. This things literally keep working underwater. It’s not like you can light a fire underwater. What I mean is that you can put a match underwater, then get it away from it, shake a bit, and the fire will still be there. It sounds a bit unbelievable. I wouldn’t believe it if somebody told me that, but go check the video in &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00345Q1WE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B00345Q1WE" target="_blank"&gt;the amazon page for the stormproof matches&lt;/a&gt; (scroll down, it’s a reviewer’s video). &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I’m fully convinced now, so I might even buy one of these soon.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;If you are also convinced, go buy &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00345Q1WE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B00345Q1WE" target="_blank"&gt;the UCO stormproof matches on amazon&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-5501709757861624346?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2012/01/uco-stormproof-matches.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-7PufgShKMNY/TxxRdZmX2qI/AAAAAAAAAfQ/nkRN3gosia0/s72-c/ott009%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-9199409506136112615</guid><pubDate>Sun, 22 Jan 2012 03:00:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2012-01-21T22:00:59.014-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">disney</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">art</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">books</category><title>Animation–The Archive Series</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1423117166/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=1423117166"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ott008" border="0" alt="ott008" align="left" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Wy48isfBqc8/Txt76XyZO5I/AAAAAAAAAeI/9ns-K33qOrw/ott008%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="300" height="300"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I have so many good memories of watching those old Disney animated movies. I loved them, and I still do.. The Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, and many others, I think I know them like the palm of my hand.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;And all those movies where such an inspiration to create, draw, and figure out how the magical world of animation works. Say what you want, you may not like Disney “style”, but you can’t deny that it inspires and still inspires a lot of kids to start drawing and creating art.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Anyway, if you are like me and love everything related to the art of animation, specially Disney animation, then this is a book you must&amp;nbsp; own. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;It’s a big book, mainly focused on the character art and animation. It is filled front to back with animation drawings from Steamboat Willie to The Princess and the Frog. You get to see a couple of the rough drawings for each movie Disney did between those two others I just mentioned. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;It consists of animation drawings with no backgrounds and almost no text (unfortunately, because sometimes I wish I could know more about them). There’s an introduction by John Lasseter (think Pixar), and a ton of animation drawings that will keep you amazed.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I’m not a salesman, I’m just posting about the things I love and own, or things I love and wished I owned. I own this book, and it’s one of my favorites from my collection of artbooks. I think no matter what, if you buy it, you will love it.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Anyway, if you want to, you can buy the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1423117166/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=1423117166"&gt;Animation – The Archive Series book on amazon&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-9199409506136112615?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2012/01/animationthe-archive-series.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Wy48isfBqc8/Txt76XyZO5I/AAAAAAAAAeI/9ns-K33qOrw/s72-c/ott008%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-1621709633815476870</guid><pubDate>Fri, 20 Jan 2012 20:12:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2012-01-20T15:12:39.156-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">organizer</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">gadgets</category><title>Cable organizer</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GUS4WG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B004GUS4WG"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="fbd009" border="0" alt="fbd009" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-5j8mMlSJdqc/TxnKtuRoUvI/AAAAAAAAAeA/mY68O-QIpUQ/fbd009%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="240"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Cables here, cables there, cables anywhere. You can’t escape them and you’ll see them everywhere. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;There are several solutions to help with cable management. This &lt;strong&gt;Quirky Cordies Desktop Management accessory&lt;/strong&gt; is one of them. I like it a lot, although I prefer the &lt;strong&gt;black version&lt;/strong&gt;, but the white one is just as useful.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;It’s one of those things that are really simple, but can help a lot in bringing some peace an organization to your messy life, even if you’re a yoga addict, or spend all day watching yogi on your fifty year old black and white tv.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I’m not making sense anymore, so I will stop writing now. Well, I’ll stop after I tell you where to buy this little but useful accessory for cable organization.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Buy the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GUS4WG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B004GUS4WG"&gt;Quirky Cordies Desktop Management accessory from amazon for only $12.99&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-1621709633815476870?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2012/01/cable-organizer.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-5j8mMlSJdqc/TxnKtuRoUvI/AAAAAAAAAeA/mY68O-QIpUQ/s72-c/fbd009%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-3512796972185220383</guid><pubDate>Sun, 15 Jan 2012 18:03:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2012-01-15T13:03:37.532-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">cheap</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">gear</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">edc</category><title>You need a pocket knife</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013HBJ8Q/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B0013HBJ8Q"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ott007" border="0" alt="ott007" align="left" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-YAO3znzgPp8/TxMU-LYil-I/AAAAAAAAAdk/MhXzqV1uxkw/ott007%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="240"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Let me tell you something. Once you start carrying a little pocket knife everywhere you go, your life changes. When you are without it, you realize how much you need it.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;There’s always a situation where you need to cut something, or need to open a package, or a bottle, or cut a piece of paper, or do some little repair on some little gadget.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Don’t think it twice. A small pocket knife is something you can attach to your key ring. It won’t use more space than your keys, and you’d hardly notice you’re carrying it (unless you need it, or unless you go through an airport, where they will confiscate it).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Anyway, &lt;strong&gt;The Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife&lt;/strong&gt; is a good option. It’s very small, and has the basics (small blade for cutting, pair of mini scissors, and plastic toothpick). As its name states, it has the classic look of Victorinox pocket knives, and I personally think it looks awesome in black (although you can also get the red version, as well as in pink, yellow, hunter green and a bunch of other colors).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;It’ll cost you about 12 bucks, which is nothing nowadays, specially for the little benefits it brings.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Now, to tell you the truth, I don’t have or use this little pocket knife. I prefer the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JCN0FG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B000JCN0FG"&gt;Leatherman Micra Multitool&lt;/a&gt; (I like the layout a lot more. I use those scissors a lot), but it’s a bit more expensive, so if you’re buying your first edc pocket knife, I think either the Leatherman &lt;strong&gt;Micra&lt;/strong&gt; or the &lt;strong&gt;Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife &lt;/strong&gt;are good options.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013HBJ8Q/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B0013HBJ8Q"&gt;Buy the Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife on amazon&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-3512796972185220383?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2012/01/you-need-pocket-knife.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-YAO3znzgPp8/TxMU-LYil-I/AAAAAAAAAdk/MhXzqV1uxkw/s72-c/ott007%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-456820650321762646</guid><pubDate>Fri, 04 Feb 2011 18:58:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-02-04T13:58:44.644-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">games</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">oldschool</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">gadgets</category><title>Nintendo Entertainment System</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUxMYX-od6I/AAAAAAAAAXg/RObwP6rHqN0/s1600-h/ott006%5B9%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ott006" border="0" alt="ott006" align="left" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUxMY18xsRI/AAAAAAAAAXk/Y1cuSCKv5cc/ott006_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="240" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;I mentioned a nice little &lt;a href="http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2011/02/dingoo-320-game-console.html" target="_blank"&gt;portable gadget&lt;/a&gt; to play games yesterday, and today I was thinking about the good old days of gaming.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;I’d love to play games in my &lt;strong&gt;Nintendo Entertainment System&lt;/strong&gt; (which I remember only as “&lt;em&gt;Nintendo&lt;/em&gt;”). Mine still works, but it’s gathering dust somewhere. I should connect it and play &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Mario-Bros-1-2-3-Nintendo-Games-/310293445219?pt=Video_Games_Games&amp;amp;hash=item483eee3a63#ht_1324wt_1139" target="_blank"&gt;Super Mario Bros 3&lt;/a&gt;, which probably is my most favorite game of all time (I still play it from time to time in my &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C1VJT8?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B000C1VJT8"&gt;Gameboy Micro&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=B000C1VJT8" width="1" height="1" /&gt; ).&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;As this site is mostly about &lt;strong&gt;ebay deals&lt;/strong&gt;, then let me mention this right now: you can get the NES and all three Super Marios for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NINTENDO-NES-GAME-SYSTEM-w-SUPER-MARIO-1-2-and-3-/270701964647" target="_blank"&gt;$89&lt;/a&gt;. I think that’s a decent deal. Maybe you only want the console without any games, and if you prefer &lt;strong&gt;Amazon&lt;/strong&gt;, then you can get the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Foffer-listing%2FB00004SVYQ%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Ddp_olp_used%26qid%3D1296842953%26sr%3D8-1%26condition%3Dused&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957"&gt;NES from there&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=ur2&amp;amp;o=1" width="1" height="1" /&gt; for about $50. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-456820650321762646?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2011/02/nintendo-entertainment-system.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUxMY18xsRI/AAAAAAAAAXk/Y1cuSCKv5cc/s72-c/ott006_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-434961249807369942</guid><pubDate>Thu, 03 Feb 2011 16:18:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-02-03T11:36:06.521-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">cheap</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">games</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">gadgets</category><title>Dingoo A-320 game console</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUrVV0J-f8I/AAAAAAAAAXI/IEUwbu210hg/s1600-h/ott005%5B13%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ott005" border="0" alt="ott005" align="left" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUrVWbvsKcI/AAAAAAAAAXM/3FYQBT_Q6So/ott005_thumb%5B11%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="240" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;I don’t own one of this Dingoo game consoles, but for what I’ve read, they are great. Don’t expect it to last forever, but expect to have lots of fun with it while it works.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;It’s basically a &lt;strong&gt;gameboy emulator&lt;/strong&gt;. You can load tons and tons of (legal) roms of your favorite gameboy games, so you can play them anywhere and at any time.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;It has 4GB of internal storage, and a built-in mini-SD slot supporting up to 8GB cards. That’s 12GB total. It plays AVI, FLV, MPEG, MP4 videos, among others, and it can play mp3 files. It has a FM radio, and you can also use it to browse images.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Overall, it sounds like a pretty cool device. It does a lot more than the original &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C1VJT8?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B000C1VJT8"&gt;Game Boy Micro&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=B000C1VJT8" width="1" height="1" /&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;I think I’m going to get one (probably from amazon though. You can get the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UX9XF4?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B001UX9XF4"&gt;Dingoo Digitial A-320 A320 Emulator Game Console&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=B001UX9XF4" width="1" height="1" /&gt; for $114.50 over there), but if you want to save a few bucks, you should try ebay. There’s quite a &lt;a href="http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=dingoo&amp;amp;_sacat=0&amp;amp;_odkw=gameboy" target="_blank"&gt;few auctions there&lt;/a&gt; You should be able to get one between &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Genuine-Dingoo-A320-Game-Console-MP4-Drop-Shipping-/180614067732?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&amp;amp;hash=item2a0d6ff614#ht_4774wt_1139" target="_blank"&gt;$80&lt;/a&gt; to $100.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;If you buy one, let me know. And if you already own one, leave a comment here telling us what you think about this gadget. I think it sounds a little too good to be true, but for what &lt;a href="http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Dingoo+A-320/hardware_review.asp?c=12910" target="_blank"&gt;I’ve read&lt;/a&gt;, it seems the device is good.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;UPDATE: &lt;/strong&gt;you might want to wait if you want to buy this little gadget, as it seems they are releasing a new version: the Dingoo A380. If you are interested, check out the video review from someone that already has the Dingoo A380.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div style="padding-bottom: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: none; padding-top: 0px" id="scid:5737277B-5D6D-4f48-ABFC-DD9C333F4C5D:9b0704a3-d88a-44be-a4cc-51e5317781cc" class="wlWriterEditableSmartContent"&gt;&lt;div id="4af685b0-6051-469e-87c2-b75650edb296" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; display: inline;"&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-1t_dJs51M" target="_new"&gt;&lt;img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUrZVsNnFbI/AAAAAAAAAXU/fm-IHThVpvg/video9bd26511239f%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-style: none" galleryimg="no" onload="var downlevelDiv = document.getElementById('4af685b0-6051-469e-87c2-b75650edb296'); downlevelDiv.innerHTML = &amp;quot;&amp;lt;div&amp;gt;&amp;lt;object width=\&amp;quot;455\&amp;quot; height=\&amp;quot;255\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;param name=\&amp;quot;movie\&amp;quot; value=\&amp;quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/B-1t_dJs51M?hl=en&amp;amp;hd=1\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/param&amp;gt;&amp;lt;embed src=\&amp;quot;http://www.youtube.com/v/B-1t_dJs51M?hl=en&amp;amp;hd=1\&amp;quot; type=\&amp;quot;application/x-shockwave-flash\&amp;quot; width=\&amp;quot;455\&amp;quot; height=\&amp;quot;255\&amp;quot;&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/embed&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/object&amp;gt;&amp;lt;\/div&amp;gt;&amp;quot;;" alt=""&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-434961249807369942?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2011/02/dingoo-320-game-console.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUrVWbvsKcI/AAAAAAAAAXM/3FYQBT_Q6So/s72-c/ott005_thumb%5B11%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-3373871403018295194</guid><pubDate>Wed, 02 Feb 2011 18:19:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2011-02-02T13:19:17.191-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">rare</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">disney</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">art</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">books</category><title>The Little Mermaid–Disney Sketchbook</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUmgIQ1JLPI/AAAAAAAAAWw/5a9MxZT-F94/s1600-h/ott004%5B17%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="ott004" border="0" alt="ott004" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUmgJOPQH5I/AAAAAAAAAW0/RCHIajKB4Ug/ott004_thumb%5B11%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="420" height="431" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Once upon a time, there was a book published in 1938, called &lt;strong&gt;Walt Disney’s Sketchbook of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs&lt;/strong&gt; (which you can buy &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Walt-Disneys-Sketch-Book-Snow-White-7-Dwarfs-1938-/260728252123" target="_blank"&gt;from ebay for about $1800&lt;/a&gt;). Disney published that book as a way to establish the copyright of this Disney movie before its release.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;After a lot of years, Disney thought it’d be cool to publish a series of books featuring sketches of some of our favorite Disney movies. And so, with the help of Applewood Books, the Sketchbook series was born. The books were printed in a very limited number, as they were made as a collector’s item, not aimed to the general public. As far as I know, there are 6 sketchbooks edited by Applewood: Bambi, Peter Pan, Lady And The Tramp, Sleeping Beauty (the most expensive and hard to find from them all), Toy Story, and my favorite: The Little Mermaid.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;It’s a wonderful series, but it’s very difficult to find these books nowadays. There are very few options. &lt;strong&gt;The Peter Pan sketchbook&lt;/strong&gt; is being sold at &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/WALT-DISNEYS-LTD-PETER-PAN-SKETCHBOOK-EYVIND-EARLE-/250767390327" target="_blank"&gt;ebay for $900&lt;/a&gt; (would you pay almost a thousand dollars for a book?) or at &lt;a href="http://www.biblio.com/books/374308526.html" target="_blank"&gt;Biblio for $439.95&lt;/a&gt;, which is still very expensive, but at least it’s a better option.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The &lt;strong&gt;Bambi Sketchbook&lt;/strong&gt; is the most common. If you find it, it’ll probably won’t cost more than $40. I found one at &lt;a href="http://www.biblio.com/books/383989203.html" target="_blank"&gt;Biblio for $30&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The &lt;strong&gt;Little Mermaid Sketchbook&lt;/strong&gt; is very cool. You can go see a review (with a few photos) at &lt;a href="http://parkablogs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=221" target="_blank"&gt;parkablogs forums&lt;/a&gt; to get an idea of what you’d get if you buy the book. Unfortunately, this is also a rare hard-to-find book. There are a couple of &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/155709344X?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=155709344X"&gt;Walt Disney's Little Mermaid: The Sketchbooks Series&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=155709344X" width="1" height="1" /&gt; being sold at Amazon for $575 and $400. I remember that they used to be $300 a few years ago (and I was lucky to get it for about $130), so nowadays, $400 is probably the best deal you can get. I love the book. It is, afterall, one of the few books you can get featuring the art of The Little Mermaid, so if you have the money, buy it, you won’t regret it.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-3373871403018295194?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2011/02/little-mermaiddisney-sketchbook.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TUmgJOPQH5I/AAAAAAAAAW0/RCHIajKB4Ug/s72-c/ott004_thumb%5B11%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-4546928520920821977</guid><pubDate>Tue, 07 Dec 2010 00:49:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2012-01-15T13:26:26.396-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">disney</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">art</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">books</category><title>Art of Mulan</title><description>&lt;img align="left" alt="ott003" border="0" height="254" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TP2Ek9u7qQI/AAAAAAAAAV0/pKoXOb7S7yg/ott003%5B21%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px 20px 20px 0px;" title="ott003" width="198" /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;
Hey, I like art books, what can I say? I like them. It’s nice to know a little bit about the &lt;em&gt;behind the scenes&lt;/em&gt; of animated movies.&lt;br /&gt;
One of the art books that I’d like to get and still haven’t bought is the Art of Mulan (which is hard to find for cheap nowadays). Maybe I’ll buy it from &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Art-Mulan-Jeff-Kurtti-Good-Book-/130454002631?pt=US_Nonfiction_Book&amp;amp;hash=item1e5faa1bc7#ht_761wt_905"&gt;ebay for $49&lt;/a&gt;, although I’d prefer to buy it from Amazon (for some reason, I trust Amazon more than I trust ebay). I can get &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0786863889?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=0786863889"&gt;The Art of Mulan&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img alt="" border="0" height="1" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=0786863889" style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; border-top-style: none !important; margin: 0px;" width="1" /&gt; at Amazon from $45 which is still a bit cheaper, and I’d have extra $4 to spend in whatever I wanted (maybe a couple of milky ways or other chocolate bars).&lt;br /&gt;
Anyway, I have to admit that Mulan isn’t my favorite animated Disney movie, although I enjoyed watching it. It was funny and interesting, and the artwork was different from what Disney used to do at that time. Also, &lt;a href="http://www.chrissandersart.com/"&gt;Chris Sanders&lt;/a&gt; was co-head of story and screenwriter, and I’m a big fan of him.&lt;br /&gt;
Anyway, The Art of Mulan seems like the typical Disney artbook, which isn’t a bad thing: it shows some nice rough concept art, drawings and final art for the main characters of the film, they tell us the story about the art direction, and show a bunch of the background paintings, and other little fun facts about the movie. All in all, I always enjoy these type of books, so it’s one I’d like to get. I mean, why not? right?&lt;br /&gt;
What artbook would you like to get for christmas?&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-4546928520920821977?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/12/art-of-mulan.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TP2Ek9u7qQI/AAAAAAAAAV0/pKoXOb7S7yg/s72-c/ott003%5B21%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-4036675198087362490</guid><pubDate>Sun, 05 Dec 2010 18:52:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-12-05T13:52:39.848-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">rare</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">disney</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">art</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">movies</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">books</category><title>The art of the little mermaid, part 2</title><description>&lt;object width="425" height="344"&gt;&lt;param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/oHPqooVNf_Y?fs=1&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;rel=0&amp;amp;hd=1&amp;amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;amp;color2=0x999999"&gt;&lt;/param&gt;&lt;param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"&gt;&lt;/param&gt;&lt;param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"&gt;&lt;/param&gt;&lt;embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/oHPqooVNf_Y?fs=1&amp;amp;hl=en_US&amp;amp;rel=0&amp;amp;hd=1&amp;amp;color1=0x3a3a3a&amp;amp;color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"&gt;&lt;/embed&gt;&lt;/object&gt; &lt;p&gt;Someone &lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHPqooVNf_Y" target="_blank"&gt;uploaded a cool little video&lt;/a&gt; showing The Art of the Little Mermaid book, page by page. That should give you a pretty great idea of what you’ll get if you decide to get that tiny little book.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I posted about &lt;a href="http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/01/art-of-little-mermaid.html" target="_blank"&gt;The Art of the Little Mermaid&lt;/a&gt; book a while ago, and it’s one of my most popular posts, so I decided to give it a part two.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Let me tell you something: the book is tiny, and doesn’t have a lot of concept art, or a lot of text either. It’s mostly a collector’s item. You’ll probably be disappointed with it unless you’re a hardcore Disney’s Little Mermaid fan.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;In the previous post, I &lt;a href="http://catalog.ebay.com/Art-Little-Mermaid-Jeff-Kurtti-1997-Hardcover-/2076376?_fifpts=1&amp;amp;_ipg=&amp;amp;_pcatid=4&amp;amp;_refkw=the+art+of+the+little+mermaid&amp;amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m505" target="_blank"&gt;suggested ebay&lt;/a&gt; as one of the best place to buy this little and rare book, but nowadays, it sells from $75 to $224 over there, which, from my point of view, is too much to ask for that book.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TPvfalSkJ3I/AAAAAAAAAVI/_u5vpZl9fXM/s1600-h/ott001%5B27%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 20px 20px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="ott001" border="0" alt="ott001" align="left" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TPvfbgu46fI/AAAAAAAAAVM/KkP8CmVK34g/ott001_thumb%5B23%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="192" height="240" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I searched again, and I’m convinced the best option you have right now is to get it from amazon. Check out &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Foffer-listing%2F0786863358%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Ddp_olp_used%26qid%3D1291574283%26sr%3D8-1%26condition%3Dused&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957"&gt;list of sellers for The Art of The Little Mermaid&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=ur2&amp;amp;o=1" width="1" height="1" /&gt;. It looks like the cheapest price is $58.82, which still seems expensive, but it is your only and best option.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;If you want to find a book that has some cool concept art of The Little Mermaid, I think this is a way better option: &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/155709344X?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=155709344X"&gt;Walt Disney's Little Mermaid: The Sketchbooks Series&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=155709344X" width="1" height="1" /&gt;. It’s a sketchbook, and it’s also mostly for collectors only, but it’s a way nicer book than that other tiny one. The art in it is bigger, although it doesn’t have too many pages, no text, and will leave you wanting more, but it’s a beautiful book. Of course, it’s expensive: $289 is the cheapest price they are asking for it.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TPvfcWuPWJI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/csF9MoHU8hA/s1600-h/ott002%5B14%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 20px 20px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="ott002" border="0" alt="ott002" align="left" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TPvfdEoi2hI/AAAAAAAAAVU/QDEDDv_37c8/ott002_thumb%5B12%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="213" height="174" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; Finally, I also suggest you buy &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0811875555?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=0811875555"&gt;The Art of Tangled&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=0811875555" width="1" height="1" /&gt;. I don’t own it yet (should arrive in a few days), but I’ve read a lot of good things about the book. In few words, I’ve heard it’s an amazing book. Of course, it’s not The Art of The Little Mermaid, but still features art by the wonderful Glen Keane&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-4036675198087362490?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/12/art-of-little-mermaid-part-2.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/TPvfbgu46fI/AAAAAAAAAVM/KkP8CmVK34g/s72-c/ott001_thumb%5B23%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-5524024788688426001</guid><pubDate>Thu, 04 Mar 2010 16:26:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-03-04T11:26:37.680-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">lunchboxes</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">vintage</category><title>Vintage Dukes of Hazzard metal lunchbox</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4_fNA6cLAI/AAAAAAAAAQo/cnmNRIsHgAc/s1600-h/de_013%5B19%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="de_013" border="0" alt="de_013" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4_fNuoq8jI/AAAAAAAAAQs/QHgtwb64Kzc/de_013_thumb%5B17%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="220" height="123" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I used to have a Dukes of Hazzard metal lunchbox when I was a kid. And it was indestructible. You could even hit people in the head with it, and nothing happened to the lunchbox (believe me, I tried that). This thing was built to last. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I think that nowadays, one of these lunchboxes would be a great and cool storage box for cool valuable things. Whatever. I just think they are cool. Probably because I want to believe I was cool for having one when I was a kid (but everybody had one as a kid anyway).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;They are kind of expensive on ebay, as they sell for around $80. That’s sort of crazy, so it’s yet another one of those things I want, but I’d probably never buy.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Some options on ebay:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;font color="#35383d"&gt;1980 Dukes of Hazzard metal lunchbox for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1980-DUKES-OF-HAZZARD-Metal-Lunchbox-Great-Shape-NR_W0QQitemZ390163949123QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad7956643" target="_blank"&gt;$84.99&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;font color="#35383d"&gt;1980 Dukes of Hazzard lunchbox with thermos for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1980-Aladdin-Dukes-Of-Hazzard-Lunch-Box-W-Thermos_W0QQitemZ140385808658QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item20afa57112" target="_blank"&gt;$69.00&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;font color="#35383d"&gt;Vintage 1980 Dukes of Hazzard lunchbox auction, starting at &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-1980-The-Dukes-of-Hazzard-Metal-Lunchbox_W0QQitemZ200444299307QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2eab69482b" target="_blank"&gt;$31&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;font color="#35383d"&gt;&lt;a href="http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=dukes+of+hazzard+lunchbox&amp;amp;" target="_blank"&gt;Everything else&lt;/a&gt; (search ebay for “dukes of hazzard lunchbox”)&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4_fOQToWkI/AAAAAAAAAQw/FJfdcl1bMk8/s1600-h/de_014%5B19%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="de_014" border="0" alt="de_014" align="left" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4_fPHrvKFI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/4YLuxFBvQWQ/de_014_thumb%5B17%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="220" height="176" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Theres’s a bunch of other vintage metal lunchboxes to choose from. Like the Hulk lunchbox (I also like this one because my brother had it) which sells for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-1978-INCREDIBLE-HULK-METAL-LUNCHBOX-THERMOS_W0QQitemZ370248272783QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5634844b8f" target="_blank"&gt;$99&lt;/a&gt; or an auction starting at &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Metal-Lunchbox-The-Incredible-Hulk-1978_W0QQitemZ110502491275QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item19ba76348b" target="_blank"&gt;$9.99&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Maybe a spiderman metal lunchbox is your cup of tea? If so, bid on it &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-MARVEL-COMICS-SUPER-HEROS-METAL-LUNCHBOX-1976_W0QQitemZ130370280462QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1e5aac9c0e" target="_blank"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;There’s about &lt;a href="http://shop.ebay.com/?_nkw=vintage+metal+lunchbox" target="_blank"&gt;350 vintage metal lunchboxes&lt;/a&gt; to choose from, so if you want one for the nostalgia factor, you should go and get one. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-5524024788688426001?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/03/vintage-dukes-of-hazzard-metal-lunchbox.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4_fNuoq8jI/AAAAAAAAAQs/QHgtwb64Kzc/s72-c/de_013_thumb%5B17%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-3471429776839929399</guid><pubDate>Wed, 03 Mar 2010 17:12:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-03-03T12:12:00.470-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">music</category><title>Nevermind</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S46YWtmlqFI/AAAAAAAAAQg/0hdHc5kalXg/s1600-h/de_012%5B5%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_012" border="0" alt="de_012" align="left" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S46YXpOeN3I/AAAAAAAAAQk/EYh5cxs-VKM/de_012_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="220" height="140" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Nirvana was (and still is) one of my favorite bands. Weirdly enough, while I have almost all their discography in cd, I don’t have them in my ipod. Maybe I should, right?&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Today’s thing is oldschool: one of Nirvana’s most famous albums (their second studio album, released in 1991), as a vinyl LP. You know, those weird black circles that had music in them. They did existed, before cds. Probably your grandfather had lots of them. Anyway, I think this item is really cool. Vinyl LP’s just are. They make you look like you really love music and know a lot about it. I’m guessing that you can’t consider yourself an expert music listener if you don’t own vinyl albums, right?&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Here are some options from ebay:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/LP-NIRVANA-Nevermind-180g-NEW-MINT-SEALED-EU-Import_W0QQitemZ310203069165QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item48398b32ed" target="_blank"&gt;LP Nirvana Nevermind&lt;/a&gt; for $24 &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NIRVANA-NEVERMIND-MTV-UNPLUGGED-VINYL-LP-SET-IMPORT_W0QQitemZ260561618952QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item3caaaec808" target="_blank"&gt;Nirvana Nevermind and MTV unplugged&lt;/a&gt; for $44 &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Nirvana-Nevermind-180-gram-vinyl-LP-NEW-SEALED_W0QQitemZ120537984382QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item1c109fad7e" target="_blank"&gt;Nirvana Nevermind LP&lt;/a&gt; for $27.99 &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NIRVANA-Nevermind-ORG-CZECH-Green-Vinyl-LP-MINT_W0QQitemZ200440819470QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item2eab342f0e" target="_blank"&gt;Nirvana Nevermind&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;green vinyl&lt;/strong&gt; LP for $200 &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NIRVANA-Nevermind-BLUE-VINYL-LP-NEW_W0QQitemZ150410922864QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item2305308b70" target="_blank"&gt;Nirvana Nevermind&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;blue vinyl&lt;/strong&gt; LP for $39.99 &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/nirvana-nevermind-red-vinyl-LP_W0QQitemZ390148824184QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item5ad6ae9c78" target="_blank"&gt;Nirvana Nevermind&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;strong&gt;red vinyl&lt;/strong&gt; LP for $26 &lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;Or just buy the mp3s directly from Amazon: &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000V698DI?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B000V698DI"&gt;Nevermind&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=B000V698DI" width="1" height="1" /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;But that’s not fun, is it?&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-3471429776839929399?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/03/nevermind.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S46YXpOeN3I/AAAAAAAAAQk/EYh5cxs-VKM/s72-c/de_012_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-7466440240388452628</guid><pubDate>Tue, 02 Mar 2010 16:48:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-03-02T11:55:14.890-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">cool</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">games</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">vintage</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">gadgets</category><title>Atari 2600</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S41BYUzaCYI/AAAAAAAAAP4/Bvjrm-v4hdc/s1600-h/de_010%5B28%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_010" border="0" alt="de_010" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S41BY8jPXNI/AAAAAAAAAP8/SVJouVdG-t8/de_010_thumb%5B26%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="250" height="188" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;For me, the Atari 2600 is the best gaming console ever. Probably because it was the only one I had when I was a kid in the 80’s, at least until before we got a Nintendo NES.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;This comes from an era where graphics weren’t the only thing gamers care about. The games were sometimes simple, but very innovative. And above all, you really had to use your imagination to believe that a couple of dots represented huge evil monsters.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S41BZW87j3I/AAAAAAAAAQA/rknUXV-R64w/s1600-h/de_011%5B83%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 15px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_011" border="0" alt="de_011" align="left" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S41BZ1TxtjI/AAAAAAAAAQE/6byDw8fODvE/de_011_thumb%5B81%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="131" height="170" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; I think I might connect my old Atari again and play some of those games (I wonder if it still works). I remember I used to play PAC MAN for hours. I was really good at it, escaping from the evil ghosts.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Anyway, if you also want to remember the good old times, then go buy one of these vintage gaming consoles. I’m pretty sure that you’ll love it more than a playstation 3, if you’re a real kid of the 80’s.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;You can get an Atari 2600 with three joysticks and 54 games for $150 (&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-2600-w-3-joysticks-and-54-games-EVERYTHING-WORKS_W0QQitemZ200445534643QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games?hash=item2eab7c21b3" target="_blank"&gt;over here&lt;/a&gt;) and then buy 30 more games (&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Atari-2600-Game-Lot-30-plus_W0QQitemZ310204202523QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Vintage_Video_Games?hash=item48399c7e1b" target="_blank"&gt;starting at $9.99&lt;/a&gt;). &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-2600-w-box-games-controllers-booklets-fun_W0QQitemZ260561774672QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games?hash=item3caab12850" target="_blank"&gt;Here’s another auction&lt;/a&gt; for the game console with a couple of games, including &lt;strong&gt;E.T. The Extra Terrestrial&lt;/strong&gt;, which a lot of people think it’s the worst game ever, but I absolutely loved it. It was weird and didn’t make sense, but it featured E.T.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;If you want to be the cool dude with the cool gadgets, you definitely want to get the wireless remote control joysticks for the Atari 2600 as well (wireless!! really, I’m not kidding, I had a pair of wireless joystick for the atari, too, and they really worked. Me and my brother used to play from outside of the room, just because we were so impressed you were able to control the game characters with no wires. It was awesome!). Get them &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ATARI-2600-WIRELESS-REMOTE-CONTROL-JOYSTICKS_W0QQitemZ150405197274QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Games?hash=item2304d92dda" target="_blank"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt; for $44.99, or &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ATARI-2600-wireless-joysticks_W0QQitemZ320493723097QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games?hash=item4a9eea1dd9" target="_blank"&gt;over here&lt;/a&gt; (starting at $11).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-7466440240388452628?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/03/atari-2600.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S41BY8jPXNI/AAAAAAAAAP8/SVJouVdG-t8/s72-c/de_010_thumb%5B26%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-3132925809908140604</guid><pubDate>Sun, 28 Feb 2010 19:27:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-02-28T14:27:42.020-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">movies</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">posters</category><title>Avatar movie poster</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4rDpC4JFhI/AAAAAAAAAO4/vPFev3JOBCc/s1600-h/de_008%5B49%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_008" border="0" alt="de_008" align="left" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4rDp75zpeI/AAAAAAAAAO8/Ifk5RR6Mn7s/de_008_thumb%5B47%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="220" height="334" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Today’s daily thing is nothing outstanding, but it’s a pretty cool thing. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I really enjoyed James Cameron’s Avatar. I went to see that movie a couple of times. Actually, most people I know went to see the movie and loved it.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;So I thought, why not a &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/AVATAR-Movie-Poster-Blue-People-22-25x34-New_W0QQitemZ310202247113QQcmdZViewItemQQptZArt_Posters?hash=item48397ea7c9" target="_blank"&gt;poster of the movie&lt;/a&gt;? It’s just $7.99 so it might be nice to own one (not me, I’ve spent too much money the last 6 months).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I’d actually would like something other than the movie poster. As I love books, I might get the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0810982862?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=fbrevolution-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=0810982862"&gt;The Art of Avatar&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=fbrevolution-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=0810982862" width="1" height="1" /&gt; book at some point (only $19.77).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Back to the Avatar poster, this is something cool: &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Avatar-Cast-Signed-Movie-Poster-James-Cameron-Coa-Pics_W0QQitemZ270537838271QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3efd4fcebf" target="_blank"&gt;Avatar Cast Signed Movie Poster&lt;/a&gt;. It’s autographed by James Cameron, James Horner, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, among others. Isn’t that cool? Of course you’d need to spend &lt;strong&gt;$900&lt;/strong&gt; to get it, so you’d really need to be a hardcore fan of the blue aliens movie.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4rDqcu4OcI/AAAAAAAAAPA/O4jcLpKNUsU/s1600-h/de_009%5B42%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 15px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="de_009" border="0" alt="de_009" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4rDrCzVj1I/AAAAAAAAAPE/bS645NSiL_Q/de_009_thumb%5B40%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="220" height="175" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Actually, if I were to spend money on autographed stuff from the Avatar movie, then maybe I’d spend about $60 for an autographed &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Avatar-Zoe-Saldana-Signed-Photo_W0QQitemZ150418596689QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_DVD_Film_TV_Autographs_CV?hash=item2305a5a351" target="_blank"&gt;photo of Zoe&lt;/a&gt; Saldana as Neytiri, or maybe, just maybe, an &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Avatar-James-Cameron-Signed-8x12-Photo-With-Proof_W0QQitemZ260560594455QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3caa9f2617" target="_blank"&gt;autograph of James Cameron&lt;/a&gt; for $199. But really, two hundred dollars for a signature? Would you really spend that kind of money for a signature? I’d probably never do that.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-3132925809908140604?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/02/avatar-movie-poster.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4rDp75zpeI/AAAAAAAAAO8/Ifk5RR6Mn7s/s72-c/de_008_thumb%5B47%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-3818191794639966614</guid><pubDate>Wed, 24 Feb 2010 17:09:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-02-24T12:09:02.185-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">rare</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">disney</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">art</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">books</category><title>Chris Sanders sketchbook</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4VdIweLOGI/AAAAAAAAAOo/gLvIF2KlEsg/s1600-h/de_007%5B21%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 10px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="de_007" border="0" alt="de_007" align="left" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4VdK0o9dDI/AAAAAAAAAOs/blp_0jX06dk/de_007_thumb%5B19%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="220" height="324" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; Today, a sketchbook, a cool sketchbook by &lt;strong&gt;Chris Sanders&lt;/strong&gt;, the director of &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0275847/" target="_blank"&gt;Lilo &amp;amp; Stitch&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892769/" target="_blank"&gt;How to train your dragon&lt;/a&gt;. It’s full of cute monsters and animals, and drawings of good looking girls. Animals and pin-ups, that’s what this sketchbook is about.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;These type of self published sketchbooks by well known artists are &lt;strong&gt;rare&lt;/strong&gt;, as they usually are printed in low quantities (some times between 500 and 1000) and are sold only on comic and art conventions. Then they become hard to find items, and the only way you can get them is on ebay.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;So, where to get this 2007 sketchbook?&lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;font color="#35383d"&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/CHRIS-SANDERS-Sketchbook-2-signed-HOT-Sexy-Girl-artwork_W0QQitemZ400093781260QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5d27729d0c" target="_blank"&gt;over here&lt;/a&gt; for $29.99&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;&lt;font color="#35383d"&gt;or &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/CHRIS-SANDERS-Comic-Con-2007-Sketchbook-LILO-STITCH_W0QQitemZ200414703514QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2ea9a5af9a" target="_blank"&gt;over here&lt;/a&gt; for $35.99&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;p&gt;And don’t forget to check out &lt;a href="http://www.chrissandersart.com/" target="_blank"&gt;Chris Sanders’ official site&lt;/a&gt; to see some awesome artwork.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-3818191794639966614?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/02/chris-sanders-sketchbook.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S4VdK0o9dDI/AAAAAAAAAOs/blp_0jX06dk/s72-c/de_007_thumb%5B19%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-7922202346440180603</guid><pubDate>Mon, 11 Jan 2010 17:34:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-01-11T12:34:20.862-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">classics</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">vintage</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">books</category><title>Nineteen eighty four, a novel</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0thF8g7ngI/AAAAAAAAAOU/IHOj8AegReo/s1600-h/de_006%5B14%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 5px 15px 10px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_006" border="0" alt="de_006" align="left" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0thG5Rih9I/AAAAAAAAAOY/8YtnilnxSwM/de_006_thumb%5B12%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="320" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Book Monday. Yeah, I think that’s how it’s going to be from now on.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;What do we have for today? a book, of course, by &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_orwell" target="_blank"&gt;George Orwell&lt;/a&gt;. This is probably his most famous and iconic novels. A must read (although I have to admit I’ve never read it, but that’s why I’m listing it…I’ll read it…soon).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;The reason I always remember and want to read this book is due to &lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8" target="_blank"&gt;Apple’s 1984 Macintosh commercial&lt;/a&gt;. I don’t know if that commercial has or hasn’t any relation with the book’s plot (it seems it does), but it’s what made me aware of the existence of this book.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Anyway, some more info about the book, directly from the &lt;em&gt;Wikipedia&lt;/em&gt;:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;Nineteen Eighty-Four (984), published in 1949, is a dystopian novel about the totalitarian regime of the Party, an oligarchical collectivist society where life in the Oceanian province of Airstrip One is a world of perpetual war, pervasive government surveillance, public mind control, and the voiding of citizens' rights. In the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue), protagonist Winston Smith is a civil servant responsible for perpetuating the Party's propaganda by revising historical records to render the Party omniscient and always correct, yet his meagre existence disillusions him into rebellion against Big Brother, which leads to his arrest, torture, and conversion.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;And where to get it on ebay:&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;ul&gt; &lt;li&gt;1984, first edition: for just &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/George-Orwell-1984-Nineteen-Eighty-Four-First-Edition_W0QQitemZ260532912645QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAntiquarian_Collectible?hash=item3ca8f8c205" target="_blank"&gt;$599.95&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;another first edition for a bit less: &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NINETEEN-EIGHTY-FOUR-George-Orwell-1984-1st-ed-HC-DJ_W0QQitemZ380164592214QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAntiquarian_Collectible?hash=item5883935256" target="_blank"&gt;$500&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;another first edition of 1984, for just &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/George-Orwell-1984-Nineteen-Eighty-Four-First-Edition_W0QQitemZ250558298451QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAntiquarian_Collectible?hash=item3a56703953" target="_blank"&gt;$149,95&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;1984, and edition from 1961 (and a cool simple vintage cover), for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1984-BY-GEORGE-ORWELL-1949-1961-VINTAGE-PAPERBACK_W0QQitemZ390139740558QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Fiction_Books?hash=item5ad624018e" target="_blank"&gt;$0.99&lt;/a&gt; (it’s an auction and it ends soon) &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;1984, new, for a more reasonable price (&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-1984-George-Orwell-9780452284234_W0QQitemZ400056804096QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Texbook_Education?hash=item5d253e6300" target="_blank"&gt;$9.92&lt;/a&gt;) &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;1984, 60th anniversary edition, for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1984-60th-Anniversary-Edition-Plume-George-Orwell_W0QQitemZ320472705167QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Texbook_Education?hash=item4a9da9688f" target="_blank"&gt;$2.21&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/li&gt; &lt;li&gt;Or buy it on amazon for &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0451524934?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=0451524934"&gt;$9.99&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=0451524934" width="1" height="1" /&gt; &lt;/li&gt; &lt;/ul&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-7922202346440180603?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/01/nineteen-eighty-four-novel.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0thG5Rih9I/AAAAAAAAAOY/8YtnilnxSwM/s72-c/de_006_thumb%5B12%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-8737275812975934427</guid><pubDate>Fri, 08 Jan 2010 14:49:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-01-08T09:49:25.262-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">cool</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">photography</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">vintage</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">gadgets</category><title>Today, a 3D Camera</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0dF8b-py_I/AAAAAAAAAOE/QRW4f80F1NI/s1600-h/de_005%5B5%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 5px auto 15px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_005" border="0" alt="de_005" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0dF9AT-ivI/AAAAAAAAAOI/0XvSMovRWxc/de_005_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="400" height="224" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;It seems that everyone is talking about 3d in movies. Some companies are already thinking about consumer 3d tvs. &lt;a href="http://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2010/01/05/ESPN-announces-3D-television-network/UPI-47261262738636/" target="_blank"&gt;ESPN&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://www.thrfeed.com/2010/01/espn-launching-first-3d-television-network.html" target="_blank"&gt;other networks&lt;/a&gt; have plans to launch 3d television networks. It looks like looking at things in real life won’t be the only way to appreciate the world in three dimensions.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I was looking for some options in the photography field to be able to take 3D pictures. One (maybe) cheap option is the &lt;strong&gt;Nimslo&lt;/strong&gt; camera, a &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereo_camera" target="_blank"&gt;stereo camera&lt;/a&gt; that produces 3D pictures that can be viewer &lt;a href="http://www.angelfire.com/ca/erker/freeview.html" target="_blank"&gt;without glasses&lt;/a&gt;. It uses standard 35mm film. There are several auctions on ebay for this camera model: starting at &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NIMSLO-3D-CAMERA-35MM-CAMERA_W0QQitemZ120512904932QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item1c0f20fee4" target="_blank"&gt;$9.99&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Nimslo-3D-35mm-Camera_W0QQitemZ180453042016QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item2a03d6e760" target="_blank"&gt;$5.00&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/1980s-NIMSLO-3D-35MM-STEREO-CAMERA_W0QQitemZ380194934957QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item58856250ad" target="_blank"&gt;$9.99&lt;/a&gt;. The instruction book is also on sale (for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/NIMSLO-3D-INSTRUCTION-BOOK-47165_W0QQitemZ380189052501QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5885088e55" target="_blank"&gt;$12.00&lt;/a&gt;) or you can see it for free &lt;a href="http://www.butkus.org/chinon/nimslo_3d/nimslo.htm" target="_blank"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Other options are the Nishika N8000 (&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Nishika-N-8000-3-D-Camera-Brand-New_W0QQitemZ280446248799QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item414be6275f" target="_blank"&gt;$10.99&lt;/a&gt;) or the N9000 (&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Nishika-N9000-Film-Camera-3-D_W0QQitemZ200425518346QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item2eaa4ab50a" target="_blank"&gt;$10.95&lt;/a&gt;). A bit of history: when the Nimslo company went bankrupt, it was partly sold to a company named Nishika.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;My favorite option for a 3D camera would be the &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0022TQXWG?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B0022TQXWG"&gt;Holga 120-3D&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=B0022TQXWG" width="1" height="1" /&gt; (options at ebay: &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/HOLGA-120-Stereo-3D-color-flash-Camera-w-viewer-mask_W0QQitemZ250559967944QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item3a5689b2c8" target="_blank"&gt;$108.69&lt;/a&gt; or &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Colour-Flash-Lomo-3D-Stereo-Holga-120-Camera-set_W0QQitemZ230419471360QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFilm_Cameras?hash=item35a6121c00" target="_blank"&gt;$88.99&lt;/a&gt;), made by &lt;a href="http://shop.lomography.com/?utm_source=www&amp;amp;utm_medium=banner&amp;amp;utm_campaign=shop_on_top" target="_blank"&gt;Lomography&lt;/a&gt;, which has a cult following due to all of their “toy” camera models.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Finally, if you already own a digital SLR, you could get a &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/LOREO-3D-LENS-CANON-NIKON-FUJI-PENTAX-MINOLTA-CAMERAS_W0QQitemZ390139986355QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera_Lenses?hash=item5ad627c1b3" target="_blank"&gt;Loreo 3D lens&lt;/a&gt;, or a &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/SKF-1-Stereo-Kit-for-Canon-EOS-With-Helios-44-2_W0QQitemZ350225221098QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera_Lenses?hash=item518b0cc5ea" target="_blank"&gt;SKF Stereo kit&lt;/a&gt;. They are about $100 each, so for those prices, I’d prefer to buy one of the other cameras mentioned above.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I almost forgot: another digital option is the Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D W1 (small &lt;a href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10296403-1.html" target="_blank"&gt;review here&lt;/a&gt;).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;That’s it for today. I actually learned a lot about 3D cameras today while researching for this post, and I’m already considering buying one (as I said, I’ll probably go for the&lt;strong&gt; Holga 120-3D&lt;/strong&gt;, or any Lomography camera)…I just have to find some time to play around and take photos.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-8737275812975934427?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/01/today-3d-camera.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0dF9AT-ivI/AAAAAAAAAOI/0XvSMovRWxc/s72-c/de_005_thumb%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-3894041717375027517</guid><pubDate>Thu, 07 Jan 2010 16:47:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-01-07T11:47:44.980-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">oldschool</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">home</category><title>An hourglass</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0YQK2aNYZI/AAAAAAAAAN8/zjuSTDEmPUc/s1600-h/de_004%5B9%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 5px 15px 10px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_004" border="0" alt="de_004" align="left" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0YQL2Jrb6I/AAAAAAAAAOA/YWi8_cQ1inY/de_004_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="200" height="338" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I don’t know why, but I’ve always been fascinated with &lt;strong&gt;hourglasses&lt;/strong&gt;. Using sand to keep time is genius. It looks so simple, yet so efficient. According to the wikipedia: “&lt;em&gt;Hourglasses were the first dependable, reusable and reasonably accurate measure of time.”&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Besides, I find it very entertaining to watch sand fall to the other side. I must have a simple mind, or simple things make me happy.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I thought they would be more popular on ebay, but apparently they are not. I think the one pictured on the left is a cool model, but most of the hourglasses you can find on&amp;#160; ebay are plain ugly. And here I thought ebay was going to be the perfect place to find a really cool vintage hourglass.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;u&gt;Details:&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/60-Minute-Wood-Hourglass-sand-Timer-w-Cherry-Finish-12_W0QQitemZ170421560650QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item27adeaa54a" target="_blank"&gt;60 Minute Wood Hourglass sand Timer with Cherry Finish&lt;/a&gt; &lt;br /&gt;The sand flows within an individually handcrafted mouth-blown glass chamber and is accurate to within 60 seconds per hour which is quite remarkable for a 14th century technology. No batteries required! &lt;em&gt;(Duh!)&amp;#160; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Price: $63.00&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-3894041717375027517?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/01/hourglass.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0YQL2Jrb6I/AAAAAAAAAOA/YWi8_cQ1inY/s72-c/de_004_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-8580914931389506361</guid><pubDate>Wed, 06 Jan 2010 16:39:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-01-06T11:39:40.757-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">movies</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">vintage</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">posters</category><title>Roman Holiday</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0S8xlYAFZI/AAAAAAAAAN0/v_kBFdS3qv4/s1600-h/de_003%5B7%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px 15px 10px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_003" border="0" alt="de_003" align="left" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0S8y-gdaiI/AAAAAAAAAN4/66638v0VGUw/de_003_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="210" height="317" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I love those vintage movie posters. They don’t make them so nice nowadays.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Roman Holiday&lt;/strong&gt; is the 1953 film that made &lt;strong&gt;Audrey Hepburn&lt;/strong&gt; a big Hollywood star. Amazing, considering it was her first movie made in Hollywood. Even more amazing if you consider that she &lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-vR7D21wqI" target="_blank"&gt;won an Oscar for Best Actress&lt;/a&gt; thanks to her role in that movie. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;So, I thought having a poster of this great movie (part of movie history) would be a nice idea. You can either go for the movie poster reproduction, for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ROMAN-HOLIDAY-POSTER-AUDREY-HEPBURN-GREGORY-PECK_W0QQitemZ350301809450QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518f9d6b2a" target="_blank"&gt;$3.99&lt;/a&gt;, or the real thing for &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ROMAN-HOLIDAY-MOVIE-POSTER-VF-LB-1953-AUDREY-HEPBURN_W0QQitemZ130356738110QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1e59ddf83e" target="_blank"&gt;$1400&lt;/a&gt;. Wow, that’s a lot of money for a poster…&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I’m planning to watch the movie this week. I’ve actually never seen an Audrey Hepburn movie, not even &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054698/" target="_blank"&gt;Breakfast at Tiffany’s&lt;/a&gt;, which is probably Audrey’s most iconic movie. I did see a few clips of &lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=roman+holiday&amp;amp;page=&amp;amp;utm_source=opensearch" target="_blank"&gt;Roman Holiday at youtube&lt;/a&gt;, and have to say the movie looks quite cute (and Audrey Hepburn looks astonishing in it). If you want to watch it, and own it on dvd, then go for this &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/Roman-Holiday-DVD-Audrey-Hepburn-Gregory-Peck-NEW_W0QQitemZ220535333392QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_DVD_HD_DVD_Blu_ray?hash=item3358ee2210" target="_blank"&gt;auction here&lt;/a&gt;, or just buy it from amazon for &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00003CXCD?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;tag=innocuo-20&amp;amp;linkCode=as2&amp;amp;camp=1789&amp;amp;creative=390957&amp;amp;creativeASIN=B00003CXCD"&gt;$9.98&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img style="border-bottom-style: none !important; border-right-style: none !important; margin: 0px; border-top-style: none !important; border-left-style: none !important" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=innocuo-20&amp;amp;l=as2&amp;amp;o=1&amp;amp;a=B00003CXCD" width="1" height="1" /&gt;.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Man, I hate it that I sound like a salesman writing this blog, but it is about things I found at ebay afterall, and somebody should buy that stuff (I’d buy everything if I had the money).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Oh, by the way: would you pay &lt;strong&gt;$17500&lt;/strong&gt; for an original italian movie &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/BREAKFAST-AT-TIFFANYS-1960-Audrey-Hepburn_W0QQitemZ300377286383QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item45efe1a6ef" target="_blank"&gt;poster of Breakfast at Tiffany’s&lt;/a&gt;? If you have that kind of money to spend in a poster, then I guess you won’t mind sending a couple thousand dollars my way? Thanks!&lt;/p&gt; &lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/64854085750632948-8580914931389506361?l=onedailything.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://onedailything.blogspot.com/2010/01/roman-holiday.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (azrasta)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0S8y-gdaiI/AAAAAAAAAN4/66638v0VGUw/s72-c/de_003_thumb%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" height="72" width="72" /><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-64854085750632948.post-6998070589234312116</guid><pubDate>Tue, 05 Jan 2010 15:53:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-01-05T10:53:23.869-05:00</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">books</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">tv</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">dvd</category><title>Tin Man and stuff from the Land of Oz</title><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0NgbiHDxdI/AAAAAAAAANs/OBB3tRZcLww/s1600-h/de_002%5B66%5D.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 5px 15px 10px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="de_002" border="0" alt="de_002" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1-Jea_MyU18/S0Ngchkq9UI/AAAAAAAAANw/UEyMKI5iG_Q/de_002_thumb%5B64%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="170" height="240" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;If you’re a fan of &lt;a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0221046/" target="_blank"&gt;Zooey Deschanel&lt;/a&gt;, or if you enjoyed the reinterpretation of L. Although I’m rethinking it, if I had that kind of money to buy anything I wanted, I’d buy something more useful. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;I’m wondering though: would you pay $150,000.00 (a hundred and fifty thousand dollars) for a complete set of first editions of &lt;strong&gt;Wizard of Oz&lt;/strong&gt; books? It’s not like those big art books you find for other Disney movies. Nevertheless, it is a really cute book, with nice art from the Little Mermaid movie. It’s pretty rare to find it nowadays, so it’s a good deal.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p style="clear: both"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;u&gt;&lt;em&gt;Other details:&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Publisher:&lt;/strong&gt; Hyperion Books &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Isbn:&lt;/strong&gt; 0786863358 &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Language:&lt;/strong&gt; English&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Buy it from:&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Art-of-the-Little-Mermaid-Jeff-Kurtti-Hardcover-1997_W0QQitemZ340988265423QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4f647c03cf" target="_blank"&gt;betterworldbooks&lt;/a&gt; at &lt;strong&gt;$40.49&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;That’s the best price I could find, but you can look around for more options &lt;a href="http://catalog.ebay.com/Art-Little-Mermaid-Jeff-Kurtti-1997-Hardcover-/2076376?_fifpts=1&amp;amp;_ipg=&amp;amp;_pcatid=4&amp;amp;_refkw=the+art+of+the+little+mermaid&amp;amp;_trksid=p3286.c0.m505" target="_blank"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Another item that might interest you is &lt;a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ART-OF-THE-LITTLE-MERMAID-SOTHEBYS-NEW-YORK-CATALOG-90_W0QQitemZ390134476716QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Nonfiction_Book?hash=item5ad5d3afac" target="_blank"&gt;The Art of The Little Mermaid Sotheby’s New York Catalog&lt;/a&gt;. It’s not an artbook, but a catalog of several original production cels from the movie, that were auctioned by Sotheby’s. Again, it’s not an artbook, but it displays a lot of art from the movie anyway. And its size is bigger than the artbook mentioned above.
