The Ceremony

AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron revealed that Madison Square Garden was transformed with peach and white drapery and People reports that the arena was reimagined as an enchanted woodland with towering trees and lush greenery encasing rows of white chairs.

Comedian and actor Adam Sandler officiated their ceremony and it’s thought that the bride walked down the aisle to an instrumental arrangement of one of her own songs.

They read their vows from gold books with each speech lasting 20 minutes. Embroidered handkerchiefs were gifted to guests during the ceremony for all the happy tears!

Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos shared insight into the "great" and "moving" ceremony, "Adam Sandler, funny and touching. Vows, everything you would hope for, real, vulnerable, serious, and silly. Deeply loving. Who knew that a wedding in Madison Square Garden could be so intimate?"

When they were married a sign was posted outside the venue reading, "JUST&T MARRIED!" and the Empire State Building lit up blue.

The Style

After months of speculation, Taylor wore a custom Dior Haute Couture wedding dress designed by Northern Irish designer Jonathan Anderson. "This is the designer's first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity," a statement from the fashion house confirmed.

She wore Cartier jewellery and her 'something blue' was said to be a sapphire necklace gifted to her by her hubby. The Derry designer also created the groom's bespoke tuxedo and the couple wore custom Christian Louboutin shoes.

The Bridal Party

The couple put their own spin on the bridal party, opting against bridesmaids and groomsmen. Taylor's brother Austin Swift was Man of Honour and Travis's brother Jason Kelce was Best Man. Jason’s daughters were reportedly flower girls too, how cute!

The Flowers

Fans got a glimpse at the beautiful blooms from the celebration thanks to the guest who caught the bouquet. Ashley Smith, who is the sister of Kansas City Chiefs' player Trey Smith, shared a picture of the organic and loose bouquet which featured Queen Anne's Lace and pale pink sweet pea.

Swifties will be hunting for easter eggs and it is interesting to note that lace is the traditional theme for a thirteenth wedding anniversary and Queen Anne's Lace has become associated with the milestone too. The singer loves the number 13 and we wonder if it was a happy accident or very intentionally included!

The Guests

A galaxy of stars joined the happy couple to celebrate including Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Karlie Kloss, Dakota Johnson, Ethan Hawke, Jennifer Lopez, Gracie Abrams, Ed Sheeran, Zoe Kravitz, Tom Cruise, Jessica Chastain, Kaia Gerber, the Haim sisters, Hugh Grant, Liam Hemsworth, Greta Gerwig, and more.

The Reception

The couple pulled out all the stops to ensure it was a night to remember. Guests tucked into Italian food, roaming hors d’oeuvres, and sushi, and there were 'bars everywhere'.

There was an assortment of games at the reception with a raffle offering designer handbags and Cartier watches as prizes. Also up for grabs was a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible which had a sweet connection to their love story as it was the make and model that the couple drove on their first date in 2023.

Stevie Nicks performed on the night and Paul McCartney gave a special performance of I Want to Hold Your Hand.

The good news is there are more boutiques offering plus size wedding dress collections and more inclusive samples than ever before, and the dresses themselves reflect contemporary bridal trends. So to help you find a gown that makes you look, and feel, gorgeous, we've put together tips for finding a plus size wedding dress, a list of plus size bridal designers, and plus size bridal boutiques in Ireland. 

Tips for Shopping for Plus Size Wedding Dresses

We're using words like 'straight size' and 'plus size' throughout this guide - they're terms we hate having to use BTW (there shouldn't have to be different rules for different bodies, right?), but it's the easiest way to clarify what we're talking about!

• While there are some fashion forward plus size bridal brands, alas many 'curve brands' still offer only dated, or overly fussy styles for plus size brides. Don't be put off, there are sexy/boho/vintage/glamorous dresses out there for every bride, you might just have to do your research. Hopefully this guide will help!
• There are lots of great dedicated plus size bridal boutiques (get the details on some of our favourite Irish ones below!), which are a fantastic place to start your search. Shopping in a plus size boutique gives you a better selection of samples you can definitely try on, their teams are also experienced in working with brides of all shapes and sizes, so if you're anxious, it'll likely make for a more relaxing shopping experience.
• Of course, any bride is entitled to check out any boutique she wants, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Unless they have dedicated plus size collections, most boutiques have just one sample for each dress. Unlike mainstream fashion, it's not a size 4, a bridal sample is generally a 12 or 14. Whether you're a size 8 or a size 28, it's not ideal (unless you happen to fit the sample size!), but due to the cost of samples, many boutiques are restricted in their stock. Boutiques do however have all sorts of magic contraptions and clips to pull and tuck you into a sample gown to give you a vision for what your dress will look like.

• As most designers make their dresses to order, many 'straight size' dresses can actually be ordered in almost any size - obviously it's preferential that you try the dress on first, which you may not be able to - but it is something to keep in mind if you have your heart set on a particular dress.
• If you do know the dress you want to try on, call ahead, and the boutique will let you know what size their sample is, and they'll have a good idea if trying it on will work for you. Strapless dresses for example, might be easier to try on in broader range of sizes than a sample dress with say, fitted sleeves.
• Likewise, if there's a particular boutique you want to visit, ring ahead and have a chat first to make sure you're comfortable ahead of your appointment.

• Listen to your boutique's advice, bridal advisors really know their stuff, be open-minded about the gowns they suggest, or listen if they discourage you from trying on a sample that they know is too small (read: they’ve seen it before!). Also on the flip side, let them know if you’re not comfortable coming out of the dressing room in a certain gown or trying on a particular dress they’ve suggested.
• Alterations are your best friend - remember unlike a dress you pick up on the high street, your wedding dress will be made and tailored for your body, and will show it off in all its glory! Your seamstress/seamster will ensure your dress fits perfectly on your wedding day. We have a list of the best seamstresses in Ireland here.
• Many made-to-order dresses can often be adapted to your requirements, so if you love the dress, but would prefer it with longer sleeves, less back showing, or a modesty panel on the cleavage, let your boutique know and they can suggest possible changes within the designer's remit.

• Choose your shopping buddies wisely, its not always a good idea to bring your entire bridal party to your fittings. Bring your closest pals, a sister or your mum, (or go it alone if that's your bag!) just make sure, whoever you bring, they're the kind of people who boost your confidence, and who you're comfortable around.
• Stay true to your personal style. Being plus size doesn't mean you have to settle on a dress you don't love, or compromise your style just to find something that fits. Be firm if anyone suggests you opt for something that doesn't feel like 'you'.
• Remember you can always opt for custom made. If you have something particular in mind that you just aren't finding, why not get your wedding dress made to measure for you? We have a list of bespoke wedding dress designers here!
• Likewise, if you love a particular designer, and have access to their studio or flagship store (these are often in cities like New York, London, etc), you may be able to try a broader selection of samples, or have one of their designs adapted for you.

• Don't tolerate rudeness or body shaming. Unfortunately, we have heard stories of brides being made feel uncomfortable during their shopping experience. Most staff in bridal boutiques are amazing, and will go above and beyond to help you find your dress, but if you do encounter someone who suggests you lose weight for your wedding, or who makes you feel like you're not as entitled as anyone else to feel gorgeous on your big day, don't accept it - walk out if you need to!
• If you don't feel represented, shout about it! Many brands are listening to customers' requests for broader size ranges and more inclusive imagery to celebrate body diversity. But if you don't see size inclusivity in your favourite bridal designers, get in touch with the brand and let them know!

Dedicated Plus Size Wedding Dress Collections

Allure Bridals

Allure Bridals have been making plus size wedding dresses long before size inclusivity became 'cool'. The vast collection features ornate beading, floral appliqués, dramatic backs and beautiful silhouettes.

These hen party activities ideas are cool, unique, and a little bit offbeat, and, chances are, your hen and her guests won't have experienced them before. If you think your bride would like something unconventional, you'll find all the inspiration you need below.

Alternative Hen Party Ideas

1. Host a Picnic or Beach Party

Planning an al fresco hen party in cool climates is definitely a risk, but it's worth taking the gamble. This is an opportunity to let your imagination run wild in terms of décor, food and drinks, but the beautiful surroundings will go a long way towards creating the atmosphere you're after.

Having a solid Plan B is crucial for this one - you've got to be able to pack up your spread and head indoors if the weather doesn't play ball - so make sure to secure a bridal party member's home, rental apartment, or an event space nearby that works with your theme.

2. Head to a Music or Food Festival

While it may take a logistical whiz to pull off a festival-bound hen party, it's destined to be a weekend that your hen and her guests will never forget! Organisation is key when it comes to securing tickets, which can sell out up to a year in advance, but the upside is that, once you arrive on site, the entertainment is taken care of.

In our experience, hen parties work best at smaller festivals - in Ireland, our favourites are: Beyond the Pale, Co. Wicklow, All Together Now, Co Waterford, Another Love Story, Co. Meath, Body and Soul(A.Wake) , Co. Meath, and Sea Sessions, Co. Donegal, while in the UK, we like The Great Escape, Green Man, Wilderness, End of the Road and How the Light Gets In. And of course, for the ultimate festival bride, Coachella

3. Embrace the Fun at a Drag Brunch

Yes, bottomless mimosa brunches are delightful. But when you can enjoy your boozy brunch with great music and fab female impersonators? Now you have yourself an epic hen party! Unleash your inner diva at the famous Irish brunches at Bow Lane, Bernard Shaw, Wigwam, Robertas, The Tipsy Bird and Doll Society. In the UK check out Bougie Drag Brunch, Queen of Hoxton, and Mrs Riot.

4. Rent a Luxurious Country House

If your hen appreciates the finer things in life, a night or a weekend away in a sophisticated countryside manor, complete with private, gourmet dinners, long chats by crackling fires, country walks and maybe even a few outdoor pursuits, is a clear frontrunner.

Our favourite thing about a country house retreat, is that, if you pick your venue carefully, the heavy lifting will be done for you. Our very favourite spots for a countryside hen party getaway in Ireland are Loughcrew Estate in Co. Meath, The Lime House At Rock Farm Slane, The Millhouse in Co. Meath Inishbeg Estate in West Cork, The Wicklow Escape, Roundwood House in Co. Laois, Ballintubbert House in Co. Laois, The Old Rectory in Co. Leitrim and Ardnavaha House in Cork.

5. Enjoy a Once-in-a-Lifetime Meal

Every hen party involves some kind of meal, but these days, more and more pre-wedding bashes are based around unique food experiences. You may decide to go for a high-end, fine dining meal (an affordable option if the attendees are all based in the same city, even more so if you score a lunch reservation), seek out an exciting pop-up restaurant, book a fun food tour, or take over a private dining room in a beloved restaurant for the evening.

You could even use the hen party as an excuse to whisk the bride off to a food destination she's always wanted to visit - from San Sebastian to Berlin, there are plenty of options where the food offering is surprisingly affordable.

6. Pay Homage to a Beloved TV Show or Film

Okay, so willy straws and night clubs may not float your hen's boat, but there should be room for silliness at even the most sophisticated hen parties! If your hen is fanatical about a certain TV show or film, you can find fun ways to incorporate this into her pre-wedding celebrations.

You don't have to build a replica of Monica's apartment in Friends, but it can be as simple as playing a themed game before dinner, or encouraging guests to channel their favourite characters through their outfits, but of course, you can go all out and book a private cinema for a screening, or jet off to a famous filming location for a tour. We would love to see what a bridal party might deliver with RuPaul's Drag Race, Father of the Bride, Game of Thrones, The Greatest Showman, or Sex and the City as their theme!

7. Plan A Karaoke Party

This alternative hen party idea will be a hit if your bride enjoys belting out Zombie by The Cranberries or getting her Madonna on! It may seem like an intimidating option to some, but our love for karaoke stems from the fact that it's a judgement-free zone - whether you sound like Adele, or a farm animal from a viral video, it becomes a level playing field when you add dodgy instrumental tracks into the mix.

8. Bring the Bride High-End Glamping

Most hen party guest lists are a mixed bag of adventurous, outdoorsy types, dyed-in-the-wool party animals, and shameless lushes who would rather pay a premium hotel rate than set up their own tent (guilty!). Glamping is a firm favourite of ours because it works for all of these personality types, so long as you find the right venue. 9. Do a Wine (or Beer! or Gin! or Whiskey!) Tasting

For a lot of brides-to-be, the perfect hen party requires ample quantities of their favourite tipple, but a proper tasting can really take things to the next level! There are a few ways to make a tasting work. For a casual, at-home hen party, you can set it up yourself, making sure there's enough pretty glassware for everyone, or you can book an expert who offers mobile tastings.

Vineyards, breweries, distilleries and specialist bars often offer private tasting services, too, and most will offer non-alcoholic alternatives for non-drinkers. In Ireland, we like Ely Wine Bar's tastings, Listoke gin school, and The White Hag International Brewery Festival while, in the UK, you might like to pay a visit to Furleigh Estate, Buckfast Abbey, or Hampshire Wine School, or book in for a Humble Grape or Wine Tours of Kent tasting or The Little Gin Company tasting.

10. Go to the Races

You don't have to be a horseracing aficionado to get on board with this one - in fact, it can actually be more fun if you've never been to the races before! There's something electric about the atmosphere at a racing festival, which provides a great excuse to get glammed up with your gals. Lots of racecourses offer VIP packages, but you could also combine your race day visit with an overnight stay in a luxurious spa hotel.

In Ireland, there are races throughout the year in Leopardstown, Punchestown, Fairyhouse, The Curragh, Naas Racecourse, Galway Racecourse and Limerick Racecourse, while, in the UK, your options include Cheltenham, Ascot, Aintree, and Newmarket Racecourse.

11. Enjoy a 'Zen Do'

There's never a bad time to stretch your muscles, and for a lot of brides-to-be, a yoga or mindfulness-based hen party is the ideal way to decompress in the run up to the big day! 'Girls gone mild' is all over TikTok, but as it turns out, the move towards including a grounding moment of quiet in a hen itinerary has long been growing in popularity in Ireland. For big groups, you can either rent a house for a weekend and hire an instructor, or go for a package deal, which may include meditation, sound baths, country walks, beauty treatments and maybe even dip in the sea.

In Ireland, we like One Fab Day recommended vendor Yoga Parties, as well as Yoga Mara Wellness Escapes and Wild Wave Yoga who also specialise in Zen Hens, Burren Yoga, Cloona Health Retreat, Cliffs of Moher Retreat and The Yoga Tree and in the UK, options include The Luna Flow, The Clover Mill, and Sharpham Trust. There are also some incredible destination yoga retreats in Spain, Portugal, Greece and beyond if you fancy turning your bash into a mini sun holiday.

12. Step Back in Time (sort of!)

If your hen is a fan of period TV shows like Downton Abbey and Bridgerton, a bit of historical reenactment could be just the thing to get the party started! In Ireland, we love the Aristochicks offering at Rockfield House, where guests to the stunning manor house experience life both as early 20th Century domestic servants and their pampered employers. You can also become ladies of the manor at Loughcrew Estate for a hen weekend with a difference, or don the wellies and expect laughter, mud, breadmaking, céilí dancing and animal antics as you take on the role of farmer’s wife at the farm experience at Causey. In the UK, you could go on a Bridgerton tour in Bath, or try a murder mystery package like Miss Mapletree's Perfect Murder.

13. Have a Craft Afternoon

Wedding planning oftern brings out a crafty DIY side to a bride and her bride squad that they never knew existed, so why not roll with this and set up a crafternoon (which has nothing to do with making favours for 250 people!) that will have everyone busy and entertained. It's a great mixed-age activity as you can do crafting activities like flower arranging, pottery, flower crown making, and other fun workshops.

14. Have a Mixed Gender Hen (or Sten)

The idea of defined lines between guys and girls in your bride's friendship group mightn't sit well with her, and maybe she'll want to celebrate her hen night with all her friends - not just the gals. 15. Set Sail on a Boat Trip

There are a number of ways you can have a boat trip for your Hen Paty. The more glamorous option is a boat party, AKA booking out your very own cruise for a jaunty, pre-wedding soirée - Charter Ireland is a good place to start. The next option takes to the high seas, with the likes of Dublin Bay Cruises, Casey's Skelling Islands Tours, or Dingle Dolphin Tours offering fun sea excursions. Or you could make a weekend of it (or indeed a week!) and hire out a self-sail cruiser or barge and make your way down the Shannon - Shannon River has lots of info on boat hire and routes. Bottom line, boats are fun, and they appeal to all tastes, whether your friends are the types to take the helm, or hang out at the back drinking bubbly (guilty!).

16. (Pent)House Party

If you and your pals spent your younger years crammed into the kitchen at a house party, why not pay homage to those times with a bougie twist? The Dean Dublin hires out a cool loft space with a foosball table and its own bar, the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Golden Lane, Dublin 2, has a world-class outdoor terrace, as does The Morgan Penthouse comes with its own lounge area. While the story of the wedding features their ceremony at the elegant Belfast City Hall and the party afterwards at the stunning The Belfast Empire Music Hall, the couple's own story started like many a good modern romance: on a dating app. Yaz had moved to London for her MA in Fine Art when they matched, and what started as a first date quickly turned into forever. Ready for more? Read on to get to know the couple better and take a peek of photographer Tim from This Modern Love's pictures of their gorgeous nuptials...

First the proposal story, which came on holiday in Corfu right beside the historic Angelokastro Castle and included a stunning custom ring by Northern Irish designer Mairi Co. "Owen had been hiding it away for months under our bed while I remained completely oblivious," Yaz laughs. "In fact, I was so shell-shocked afterwards that when we walked back to the car, I got into the driver's seat… despite the small detail that I don't actually drive! It perfectly sums up just how surprised I was."

Fast forward to summer 2025 and the big day kicked off at Belfast City Hall, where Yaz arrived with her father in a classic Nissan Bluebird. Her sister Amber Robinson handled the makeup, keeping the morning calm and fun.

The rest of the wedding party style was just as laid-back. Owen and the groomsmen looked dapper in relaxed Sea Salt suits, while the six bridesmaids—including one "bridesman"—were given complete free rein to wear whatever made them feel like themselves. Even the couple's dog, Buddy, got in on the action, rocking a big blue satin ribbon as Yaz’s "something blue".

Walking down the aisle with Moon River playing, Yaz looked every bit the star, wearing her Audrey Hepburn inspired vintage 1950s tulip dress, which was actually an incredibly lucky eBay find. The very night they got engaged, Yaz received an eBay notification that a vintage 1950s tulip dress she’d saved to her watch list years prior was about to end she’d saved to her watch list years prior was about to end. She bid and won, and the pre-loved gown - inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s iconic look in Funny Face - arrived in a simple plastic carrier bag. "Not the dramatic bridal boutique moment you might imagine," Yaz admits, "but the second I put it on I knew I didn’t need to look any further! It fit perfectly with no alterations."

"Our first born, Buddy, a 5-year-old golden retriever, features in our photos and is very much part of our family and the day," says Yaz. "We even managed to sneak him into the city hall for some family photos."

Flowers came courtesy of Susanna from One Small Seed whose flower farm is based in nearby Ballyeaston, County Antrim. Yaz left it up to her to use whatever was in season for June, resulting in a gorgeous, garden-gathered bouquet of peonies, sweet peas, snapdragons, and incredible scents. In a genius creative touch, each bridesmaid carried a single flower variety from the bride's bouquet, meaning that when they stood together, they represented the full arrangement.

But the real adventure started right after the ceremony. Their vintage bus they had planned had broken down first thing in the morning, which forced the couple to pivot to an open-top Belfast sightseeing bus. Luckily, and after a solid week of rain, the sun broke through just in time! All 100 guests piled upstairs together, singing and sightseeing their way through the city.

Next up was the reception at The Belfast Empire Music Hall - the only venue the couple ever considered. Yaz used to live right beside it during university and spent years going to gigs there. "We didn’t want a hotel wedding or anything too polished," the couple explains. "We loved the Empire’s character and its history. It just felt right straight away."

Inside, the venue was transformed into a colourful, mid-century wonderland with a distinct Twin Peaks aesthetic. Yaz had spent the year collecting single bud Art Deco vases from charity shops for the tables, and their close friend Leila styled them with loose stems from One Small Seed.

The bride handmade the cake topper herself for their elegant pure white Lambeth style iced French Village Bakery cake.

The venue was decorated with gold tinsel fringe curtains, paper fan garlands, honeycomb decorations, and fairy lights. "The Empire's mezzanine was also brilliant, says Yaz. "It meant that even if you weren't on the dancefloor, you still felt completely part of everything going on below. We really just wanted people to have a great time. Good food, great music, and a relaxed atmosphere mattered far more than anything overly structured. We basically wanted a big shindig!"

"The caterers (Caff Catering) were phenomenal," says Yaz. "Malachy and Anna brought 32 years of experience across both kitchens and front-of-house roles, including the restaurants Deanes at Queens, Noble and Lottie." The couple chose a buffet rather than a formal sit-down meal so guests could choose exactly what they wanted and keep things relaxed. "We also deliberately avoided a seating plan and worked with the Empire's small pub-style tables, which meant people naturally mingled and moved around throughout the evening. It created a really easy, social atmosphere where nobody felt stuck in one place."

Music was the absolute heartbeat of the night. Fiddle player Mairead Forde and her traditional band greeted guests at the Empire. "She introduced our London guests to traditional Irish music, and the whole place erupted with energy from the very beginning," Yaz remembers. Later on, DJ Jamie Nelson took over the decks. In a hilarious twist, Owen’s university friends realised they had actually met Jamie years ago at a music festival in Croatia, turning the dancefloor into one giant reunion.

The couple's first dance was to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli, and capturing every single laugh was photographer Tim from This Modern Love, who happens to share an art studio with Yaz. "Having someone you know and trust behind the camera completely changes the energy," Yaz says. "We felt relaxed straight away, and he was really part of the wedding rather than someone documenting it from the outside. I think you can really see that in the photos." Looking at the stunning snaps, we couldn't agree more!

Soon after, the couple jetted off on honeymoon to Sardinia on honeymoon. "Beautiful beaches, crystal blue water, great food - and a really relaxed atmosphere," says Yaz. The perfect ending to the perfect day. Huge congratulations to the happy couple.

What to Know Before Choosing A Pavlova or Meringue Wedding Cake

• What's the difference between pavlova and meringue we hear you ask? Well, not much really but while pavlovas and meringues are both made of whipped egg white; a Pavlova (named after the Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova in honor of her Australian and New Zealand tour!) has a delicate crispy exterior with pillowy soft marshmallow inside, while meringue (which is of French origin) is dry and crisp all the way through.
• A pavlova or meringue wedding cake may not be something a cake designer might offer, so this may be something to ask your venue or caterer if it is something they can accommadate.
• These wedding cakes will unfortunaly not go as far as a traditional wedding cake in terms of portion sizes. They would be ideal for smaller celebrations.
• For larger guest lists you could have a gorgeous pavlova or meringue wedding cake displayed on your dessert take for the tradional cake cutting, but serve up plated versions as your dessert option.
• While they make a gorgeous treat to serve in the summer months, they aren't suitable sitting on a cake or dessert table in the heat. Bring out later in the day, closer to when guests arrive or after the meal to prevent melting, or collapsing!
