Whilst we have always loved the location (harbour views anyone?) and the hotel itself, the Sunset Room is now up there in our top 5 venue options for weddings, hen’s parties, engagement parties or anything that calls for a super stylish setting, amazing food and great atmosphere!

We were treated to a tasting menu from Australian chef Pete Evans who will head up catering and bespoke events for the venue. Pete has created a modern Australian menu that incorporates crispy lobster filled betel leaves with ponzu sauce, scallops in the shell, crispy prawns with bonito and wasabi mayo, steak tartare with quail egg and black salt, and a lemon meringue with lavender dust. A  menu that is sure to impress the most particular of guests!

The day we heard back from Georgie and her team of styling gurus at Georgeous , letting us know that yes (YES!!) they would love to be a part of our One Fine Day family was a day of celebrating and happy dancing round the office. We have been huge fans of the work of team Georgeous for a long time and see them as one of the most influential and inspirational teams in the wedding industry.

We recently had the pleasure of meeting Georgie, Claire, Leah and Cara in their super sweet and stylish space in St Kilda. And whilst these girls pull together some of the most glamorous events we’ve ever seen, they are the most down to earth, genuinely lovely girls you can hope to meet in this industry. The perfect combination of personalities to work with when planning such a treasured event such as your wedding!

What is your definition of one fine day ?

Simply spending time with my gorgeous daughter Isabelle and fiancé Stu. Anywhere, any time.

What inspired you to start your business?

What do you love about weddings?

Absolutely everything! If I had to pick one thing it would be seeing the bride start her walk up the aisle.  I am often the privileged one who is the last to “fluff” a bride’s gown before the walk up the aisle.  We establish such close relationships with our brides that we feel part of the family by this stage.  It really does become just as much our day as it is theirs as we put all our energy into creating their dream.  Oh and yes, we cry in the speeches!  We really really do!

Colour?

Right now, I am in love with beautiful bright greens, canary yellow and a deep sea blue.  But I must say my favourite would be a pale dusty pink…LOVE!

What is your definition of a One fine day?
My definition of One Fine Day is a warm summer day surrounded by love, laughter, good company, amazing food, and my kit with a makeup brush in hand!

What inspired you to start your business?
I have always had a fascination with makeup and have always worked in creative fields including graphic design and marketing. When I was looking for a MUA for my own wedding 10 years ago I found it difficult to find an artist who specialised in light handed, natural makeup. I didn’t want smokey, I didn’t want vintage liquid lines, I just wanted clean, simple and elegant natural makeup. So when I completed my training and started my new business a few years later I decided that that was wanted I wanted to do. To fill a hole in the market doing exactly what I loved – making people feel like the most beautiful version of themselves for their special day. And it has worked. Makeup by Megan is now renowned for light handed and meticulously applied “natural” makeup looks that make my clients feel amazing and comfortable. And while I am extremely versatile and can create any look my clients desire with confidence – I do find that the majority of my brides are specifically looking for that barely there “natural” look.

What do you love about weddings?
In a world where we no longer have the occasion or opportunity to dress to the nines often, a wedding is a fun and exciting day where you are surrounded by love and happiness, and everyone wants to look their finest. The dresses are amazing, the shoes are to die for, the boys are at their most handsome and everyone is on a high. I love to be surrounded by that – it makes for an extremely pleasant working environment.

SEASON: summer, summer, summer. Did I say summer?

CITY: Charleston, South Carolina USA. It is filled with beauty and amazing history. I see myself as a southern belle sipping mint juleps, dressed to impress on the balcony of my plantation home in a former life. Watching my children play beneath the spanish moss in the oak trees…….

What inspired you to start your business?
Life, Love & Lipsticks! It simply felt like the most natural thing for me to do. I love what I do. The inspiration came from within. I am passionate about making women look their best and to celebrate their unique beauty by enhancing it with natural makeup.

What do you love about weddings?
Everything! Seriously there isn’t anything I don’t love about weddings. The people and their love stories are very inspiring to me.  Every wedding is different so there is never a dull moment.  I am a hopeless romantic and I just love being involved in such an important day filled with beauty.

Colour?
Purple has been my all time favourite ever since I remember, but then there are seasonal colours that I love and that change all the time.
Right now I love cool colours and bright blues. Last year I couldn’t get enough of corals.

Sydney! And NYC, which holds a very special place in my heart.

What I love about weddings
I love that each day has it’s own energy. They’re full of design, packed with emotion, overflowing with clever details, personality and joy. It’s an opportunity to create a unique story, individual to each couple and the special connection they share. An unrepeatable celebration of love with the people closest to them. A chance for me to get creative and craft a collection of images that will be shared for generations.

What is your definition of one fine day ?
Drinking coffee in the sun, swim at the beach, reading a book on the grass, gallery hopping and trying out new bars and cafes.

What inspired you to start your business?
A good friend encouraged me to become a celebrant so I could marry her to her guy. I agreed because I also had the pleasure of having a good friend perform my wedding. I know that a wedding ceremony can be spectacular – raw, real, funny, spontaneous and original. Every pair of lovers deserves that for their wedding ceremony and that’s what I’m aiming for.

With so many stationery suppliers online, it’s really difficult to make this important decision without actually seeing the product in real life. We noticed at One Fine Day our stationery vendors were some of the busiest as it was a great opportunity for not only couples to meet the designers themselves but to see the final (and beautiful) product first hand.
