Olmert Sells Out Israel And the Jewish People

The transformation of Ehud Olmert is complete and it is not very pretty.

We still have memories of Ehud Olmert, then Mayor of Jerusalem, defending a uniting Jerusalem as he spoke at the One Jerusalem rally in 2000 surrounded by 400,000 Israelis.

Sadly that Ehud Olmert is no more. That Olmert started to transform as he helped divide and almost destroy the Likud Party as he became the cheerleader for forcibly evicting Jews from their homes and synagogues in Gaza. For his work as a henchman for Sharon he succeeded to the office of Prime Israel of Israel.

His term as PM is noted for two things: Being forced from office because of criminal activities and his plan to divide Jerusalem and create a terrorist Palestinian State on the border of Israel.

This past week Olmert emerged from the shadows and he added more shame to his name. For some mysterious reason, the Jerusalem Post invited Olmert to speak at a conference the paper sponsored. (Who wants to hear from this disgraced personage?) When he rose to speak, the crowd vigorously booed him and urged him to vacate the scene.

Sadly he stayed and true to form he attacked the State of Israel and Americans who support Israel. In a post-conference CNN interview he made the wild claim that money from America stopped a deal with the Palestinians. Olmert blamed the failure to reach an agreement on everyone except the Palestinians. He also made the wild claim that the Israeli public approved of his appeasement plan.

Hopefully this is last time we will hear from the despicable Mr. Olmert.

Watch this fascinating film of scenes from Israel's cities in 1913. It is worth pointing out the Hebron footage, which appears here. The local Muslim population prevented the Jews from entering the Mearat Hamachpela -- the Cave of Machpela, the Tomb of the Patriarchs. As such, Jews can be seen praying only OUTSIDE the walls of the building, while Muslims freely enter the site. Only since 1967, when Israel recaptured Hebron, could Jews enter and pray within the Holy site. The scene serves as a chilling reminder of what would happen -- in Jerusalem and elsewhere -- should the Palestinians ever gain control of Christian and Jewish Holy sites.

Placing Politics Above National Security

We fear for Israel. We have confidence that Israel has the character and the ability to defend itself from the external enemies. But we are deeply concerned by recent comments by a former Israeli spy chief who publicly announces that he has no confidence in Israel's elected leaders to handle the threat from Iran. In his statements he made the ludicrous comment that an attack on Iran's nuclear program will (in his mind) "speed up" the nuclear program.

Really? Destroying all or part of the nuclear program will some how speed up the program?

The logic of this statement is non-existent.

And Mr. Diskin also accused Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Barak of being advocates of starting a "messianic war" with Iran. You can accuse the above mentioned leaders of Israel of many things but being messianic is not one of those things. These are men of this world and enjoy life here. Unlike many of their Iranian counterparts.

Why is Mr. Diskin being so critical? Why did a video of his speech hit the internet as soon as he finished speaking?

Because this was the beginning of his campaign to unseat Mr. Netanyahu. Yes he is running for elected office.

But he is unfit for any responsible job because war with Iran should be made into a political football. Prime Minister Netanyahu has never publicly advocated war and neither should any of Israel's public citizens. Mr. Diskin is feeding Israel's enemies in a stupid attempt to further his political aspirations.

Israel's Capital Is Jerusalem Unless...

You are reading Britain's influential Guardian. The Guardian's style book has designated Tel Aviv as Israel's capital. This came to light when the Guardian "corrected" a picture caption in had published which correctly reported Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. A spokesman for Israel's responded to this outrage:

"Actually, it's the Guardian who owes an explanation to its readers for publishing something that cannot be described but as a blatant lie. When a claim is so factually wrong as to insult intelligence, then unfortunately the word 'lie' is not too harsh, and one cannot but wonder about the motivation of such a conceit."

Obama Gets Tougher With Israel Than he Does With Iran

The Hill is reporting that President Obama lambasted comments made by Israel's Prime Minister.

The Hill reports that Prime Minister Netanyahu had a meeting with Senator Lieberman during which he criticized the current talks taking place with Iran. Netanyahu told Lieberman that he believed that Iran got a "freebie" as the talks adjourned and will not reconvene for five weeks during which time Iran can continue to enrich uranium.

At a news conference in Colombia, President Obama took exception to Netanyahu's characterization of the talks. The Hill reports President Obama said: "The notion that somehow we've given something away, or 'a freebie,' would indicate that Iran has gotten something,"... "In fact, they've got some of the toughest sanctions that they're going to be facing coming up in just a few months if they don't take advantage of these talks. I hope they do."

President Obama's response does not deal with the point that Iran has gotten five weeks to continue operating their nuclear program. The central criticism of these talks is that they are open ended and do not require Iran to make any concessions. Therefore, Iran is getting a freebie. And, like in the past, Iran is gaining time.

A Gift For Iran

Where is the outcry? Why is there silence as the United States moves ahead with supplying Iraq with sophisticated military aircraft? Why are we supplying the Iran-friendly government of Iraq with military equipment that will be examined, if not used, by Iran?

Iraq's current Prime Minister spent seven years living in Iran. He is on friendly terms with Hezbollah.

This Iraq government is slated to get 36 advanced aircraft from the United States. While the delivery is suppose to be in 2015, the Iraqi government is pushing for delivery in 2013.

One Jerusalem has learned that this transaction went through without consultation with Israel, whose defenses will be challenged by this deal. One more case of how not to treat an ally.

And while this is a new danger for Israel, it is also bad for the United States. It is American military forces that will be in greater danger when members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard become familiar with the military aircraft used by US forces.

Today, at the daily State Department press briefing, official State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland repeatedly refused to state that the Obama Administration recognizes Jerusalem a the Capital of of the State of Israel.

In answer to the question: "Is it the view of the - of the United States that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, notwithstanding the question about the embassy - the location of the U.S. embassy? Nuland said, "We are not going to prejudge the outcome of those negotiations, including the final status of Jerusalem."

In other words, all of Jerusalem is up for grabs in the eyes of the Obama Administration.

And she refused to answer the question over and over again.

We have predicted that Jerusalem is in unprecedented danger at this time. This is proof.

Supreme Court Sets Back Obama Administration for Ignoring Jerusalem Israel

In an overwhelming 8-1 decision, the United States Supreme Court, with Chief Justice Roberts writing for the majority, rejected the Obama Administration's assertion that the Executive Branch has exclusive power to make all facets of foreign policy.

In a case financially supported by One Jerusalem, involving a young man born of American parents in Jerusalem, the Court ruled that the Executive Branch's contention that United States passports issued in Jerusalem not include the word Israel can be challenged in the courts.

For years, Republican and Democrat administrations have deliberately refused to recognize in US passports that Jerusalem is part of Israel. Congress has contested this policy but the Executive Branch, in this case the State Department, has maintained undisputed jurisdiction over this issue.

Today's decision allows judicial review of this executive branch contention.
