Dwarf Cannon Update

Been working on the Dwarf cannon crew a bit. Almost done with the coloring, then I just need to finish doing the cannon itself. Here is a progress shot.

Trying to kick the tires a bit and get things going. It's just one of those things that you have to make time for, rather than wait for it to show up at the doorstep. Still need to do some coloring and shading on this, but it's getting close.

Getting back on track

Things have been pretty crazy for a while, and it's been difficult to get things done and find time to complete more sets in all the mayhem. But time goes on and we are working hard to get back in the groove.

As of now we have planned to complete a couple of sets by the end of May. These sets will include goblin archers, and a dwarf cannon and crew. Next month will be two more sets of goblins. Also in the works, is game development for Bellicose Fantasy Battles. We always seem to be more productive when working on a project like that. We need lots of photos of paper minis in combat for the full color rulebook we are developing for the new edition.

Crazy thing is, once I got cracking on the goblins, I lost the pen for my pentablet. So frustrating! It took me over a week to find the dang thing. But I finally did find it, and I should be getting the goblin archers done soon. Crappy part is that all the time I spent looking, I probably could have nearly completed a set.

More Sets Available!

Loads of new model sets are now available! You won't be disappointed. Several new Undead, and Dread Legion sets are now up. Many people have been asking for these. The Armies of Men boast new Foot Soldier and Militia sets, carried over from the Sanity Studios site. Mutants continue to mutate, and the Terra Force is mounting a strong counter-offense on the Chimera Brood invasion.

One exciting new development, is that with the release of the Terra Force, they now come with the modded coloring, done by Sirrob01 of the Cardboard-Warriors forum, at no additional cost. Many thanks to him for his efforts with that. He wanted to share his work with others, and this is a great way to get your hands on his amazing work, which adds variety on a new scale.

Still craving more? Well, keep checking in. There are many more new amazing sets yet to come. The next new release you can look forward to is a great new set of orcs, for all your role playing, or table top warfare needs.

Another Forum Hoard is available for free. The Forest Creature themed hoard dates its creation back to April. This exciting new set includes some really neat stuff ranging from a birch bark canoe to a grizzly slug. You can't go wrong with grizzly slugs after all.

We are still in the process of trying to get the Forum Hoards caught up (it might take a while). And on that note, we are looking for an awesome forum member to step up and help us out with the community created forum hoards. Initially we will work with this individual to get the sets all caught up and current. Once the sets are caught up, we would like someone to take over this job. In exchange for their efforts, we will offer this individual free paper mini sets. Including all sets past and forthcoming, for as long as they help us with the hoard files. Dwarven Stronghold

New Sets Available

Several new sets have been posted on the site. In the Warbands section there are three new sets, including Evil Knights warband, Goblins warband, and Orc warband. In the Townsfolk section there are now two sets available, including Male and Female tavern patrons.

Keep checking back as we work to get more sets available. Each of the Onemonk miniatures sets comes complete with 300dpi resolution, true front and back artwork, and .studio cut files for your automated cutters. With new cut file software available, and in getting each of the sets to a nice clear resolution, there is a good deal of work to do for each of the sets to be made available once again on the site. We are steadily working to keep the sets coming.

The Paper Cut Awards are well underway. All of the submissions are in and are open for voting. Visit the forum to cast your vote for your favorite submission.

The winners will be determined by forum voters, and by a panel of judges. Judges are allowed to submit, but in their judging process, they may not vote for their own piece.

Winners in each category will receive free One Monk paper miniatures sets of their choosing. In addition Moss Games has generously thrown in a $20 gift certificate for their products on RPGNow, and Armor Grid Games and Miniatures will also be throwing in a prize package for winners.

We really appreciate everyone's participation. It has been a great turnout for the first year. We have learned a lot, and we hope that next year we can take what we've learned and make it even better.

Papercut Awards

Introducing the first annual Papercut Awards!

The submission deadline for this year is July 31, 2011.

There will be three categories for submission:

1) Diorama - Can be created from any available figures and terrain.
2) Best Single Figure - The design must be original
3) Best Multi-figure - A group of figures, regiment, or multi-piece assembly. All figures must be original design.

Submissions will be in the form of photographs of your figure(s). For this first contest any figure done from anytime in the past is acceptable, or you may create a new submission between now and the deadline. In years to come only figures created in the time between the previous contest and the new one will be accepted. Submission will also be subject to all Hoard submission guidelines. Any miniatures or buildings included must be made of paper. Ground and other surrounding may be made of any other available materials.

Judging will be determined 50% by forum member voting, and 50% by a panel of judges (TBA). Judging criteria will include many factors, primarily Design, Modelling Execution, and Photography. Photography is only a factor due to the fact that if we can't see it well, it will affect the scoring.

Winners will receive fabulous prizes worth up to dollars (TBA).

Rules of entry subject to change. Check back periodically for updates. Have fun with creating your submissions, and Good Luck!

Eco Friendly Hobby

One Monk Miniatures encourages the recycling of paper scraps created from paper modeling. Because paper comes from a renewable resource and can easily be recycled, paper modeling is one of the most eco-friendly hobbies you can have.

Are we going green? No. We've always been that way.

One Monk Miniatures will be promoting paper craft modeling at Salt Con Feb 18-19. This is an annual board game convention held in Salt Lake City, Utah. We hope to not only show off our own paper miniatures, but also some of the great work which has been created by members of the forum. This is the 88^th Forum Hoard and it is a dandy. Hi Warriors,

Boffo the Sane here. Now that it is November, I thought I should announce that the September Hoard is available on the OneMonk website. Please take a look!

Some of you may be wondering what became of Jim, since he sold OneMonk to Sanity Studios. Well, I'm sorry to say that we had to kill him, he knew too much. Wait, no...that was someone else. Jim is just fine, in fact, now that he doesn't have to run the website, he has more time to do what he loves the most, which is create things. I have a feeling that we'll be seeing more from Jim very soon.

In other news, the new Monster Pack from Sanity Studios is now available for sale at sanitystudios.com. I have seen it, naturally, and I have to tell you that it is fantastic! Feel free to buy it multiple times - it makes a great wedding gift!

HOARD 78 has been rescued!

The HOARD 78 file is now in place, thanks everyone for your help finding a backup file.

It's been some time since the last update, but I should be able to get back to regular posting now. All the drawing tools are back out, I have the design folders stacked up next to the drawing table, and I'm eager to get back into designing some cool figures.

I won't hint at what I'm going to do, because I typically never do what I say I'm going to do, and I just want to take it one project at a time. Right now I am working on two things, the new basing PDF's, and an alien skirmish force. More on both when I finish something....

I have the new 2008-2009 HOARDS page up and complete with all the downloads in my new format. I still need to add some GSD file links to it, but that will have to wait. I think I have all the exsisting files available on the website now. Next up is the conversion of the other ranges to the new smaller preview setups.

Rolled to save, and found a backup!

Good news, I found a partail backup of the website! So I was able to reconstruct most of it from it. I also revised the front page as many of you will notice. I got rid of everything that didn't pertain to free gaming and models.

On the design front, I do intend to get back to designing more figures and models, but right now I really need to paint some stuff, and work on some terrain bits. I'll set aside some time each week to make a figure or two and post something when I get a full pages worth done.

The source file for the whole website has become corrupted, so I will have to recreate the existing website from scratch, all over again. Luckily, I can use the
existing pages to to remake the site, but it's still going to take some time.

The March HOARD files are now available to download. A big thanks to all the contributors, and especially Jabbro for formatting and creating the PDF's. Be sure to check out all the action in the latest months HOARD, and join in with your own designs. You don't need to be an artist to do these, you can modify figures and just recolor figures if you with. It all adds to the pool of figures available for gaming.

I have created a new page in the Forum Hoard for Dryw the Harpers fantastic figure sets. All 44 sets are now available to download now!

Other updates include the GSD files for the Undead Horrors, and the new Wraithlords figure sets. Follow the links to get them.

In other news, the revised Chimera Hybrid army is coming along nicely. I'll have some mock-up models to show by the end of the week.

The May Forum HOARD is now underway. The unofficial theme this month is ARTILLERY. I'm hoping to see some cool fantasy and sci-fi warmachines and artillery models. I know I'm going to make an Elf Multi-bolt thrower for my Elf army.

Wraithlords uploaded

Whoo Hoo! finally a new set of figures! The Wraithlords are now available in the Undead Hoard Army page. A set of 9 undead wraiths to use as commanders, or as a really nasty unit of elite soldiers. These figures would also be equally used as undead champions in and RPG game.

In progress now, are a selection of Chimera Hybrid models for Armor Grid Games, 15mm scale mech game ,as well as 30mm scale versions to expand the current range of Chimera Hybrid army units. I plan to do as many of these figures for this army until I get burned out of them. More info in the forums.
