2014-03-17T19:55:00.001-07:00

People who enjoy all types of artwork have a wide variety of different artwork to make their selections from. From selecting artwork from abstracts artists that create innovative pieces to working with Austin artists to secure a portrait of a close family member or friend, there are different types of artwork that each individual can make their selections from. If you have read this far, you're probably into all types of art. To start with, have you heard of this Texas artist?

Before people make their selections of art, they should consider what they are buying the artwork for. For instance, if an individual would like to buy special and unique artwork to place in different areas of their home, they will need to look around to see what is available and then make their decision. As the person makes their decision, there is a criteria that can be used to make a final determination and that is the type of artwork that they may desire for a specific area in their home, the artists that they like best and the cost of each piece since they may have a limit on the amount that they want to pay. All of which are essential factors in making their next purchase.

Unique Artwork and Determining the Best Choice

When the homeowner is looking to fill their home with various kinds of artwork including sculptures for sale, they will need to look around in the art world to see what is available. This venture may start with looking online to see the artwork of new and upcoming artists or searching through artwork of artists who already have a prominent name in the industry. In addition to looking online, the homeowner may choose to look in their local areas for kinetic wind sculptures that nobody else has. The choice is up to the individual and their personal preferences.

Modern Art and Choosing an Area in the Home

Even though there are many different types of artwork on the market today, some people may prefer a specific type of artwork to others. As a result, they may choose the type of artwork that they like to support the theme that want to use to furnish the entire home. For instance, some people prefer the look of modern artwork for their homes because it helps to set the stage for the theme that they have chosen. So, they may choose to eliminate any other types of artwork that do not fit into their overall plan. So, the pieces of artwork that some people may choose, this homeowner would skip over in order to select modern pieces for their bedrooms, kitchens, living room and other areas in the home that they want to enhance.

Sculpture Artists and Determining a Price Limit

While some people may not have a specific limited amount to make their choices buy, others will seek memorial sculptures for sale since they do not want to pay over a specified amount. Because artwork can vary greatly from artists and type of artwork to another, it is important for each home owner to review their wants, needs as well as their budgets.

2014-03-10T22:52:00.000-07:00

What could be more fitting in world of art that is ever-changing than a work of art set in motion? Kinetic wind sculptures do just that. Kinetic wind sculptures are works of art that can be set into motion by something as powerful as a motorized base, or something as simple as a gust of wind. These abstract pieces are put together by modern sculpture artists using metals such as copper and steel, yet they move as if they were made of paper. Whether placed inside of outside, kinetic sculptures are sure to get the attention of everyone from art connoisseurs to young children; they are mystified by the motion. This beautiful website highlights one of the best in the scene.

Austin Artists and Their Scene

One of the regions that is leading the pack in sculpture art is Austin, Texas. Austin artists have made it their mission to show the world all that wind art has to offer, and they are doing it spectacularly. By using steel, copper, and an assortment of other metals, and combining it with stained glass, Austin wind artists are creating a new phase of modern artists. With entrancing circles in a perpetual state of motion combined with bright colors and abstract visions, these works of art are becoming popular both inside museums and outside, where they can be used as memorials. One of the greatest draws of these pieces is there versatility. When used as an outdoor monument these pieces shift with every gust of wind. This is a great testament to a person's life, as just like life itself, these pieces never stop changing.

Abstract Artists and Their Work

The beauty can be found in the delicate craftsmanship of these pieces, which can be constructed into an abstract grouping of shapes, or a piece resembling anything the artist desires. To add to the beauty of kinetic wind sculptures, sculpture artists many times use recycled materials. Just as the life of the metals has come to an end, there is a new beginning. It is the circle of life, and just as these pieces seem to have come to a dead standstill, a slight breeze will bring them back to life again.

Beautiful Wind Art

Those who are interested in witnessing the wonders of wind art can find many sculpture artists in the Austin area who do custom sculptures. Custom sculptures are a great way to add mystery and motion to any room, and these pieces make great additions to art museums and galleries. Because kinetic wind sculptures are created using strong metals such as steel and copper, they are great additions to outdoor galleries as well. These pieces make great additions to parks, and their quality construction and durable build keep them moving in all types of inclement weather. In fact, the stormier it gets outside, the more enjoyable these pieces become. So whether one is sitting in a park mesmerized by the intricate movements of a wind sculpture, or visiting a museum with a wind sculpture on display, he can be sure that a great deal of time and care went into creating a modern work of art for an ever-changing world.

We can't all be amazing artists, but here's a project/video on something easy enough for all of us to create!

The Austin Artist and Choosing the Best Area in the Art Industry

2014-02-10T20:44:00.000-08:00

People who enjoy the world of artistry have a wide diversity of art and sculptures to choose from today. So, if you are interested in this field of study, you should check out each category to determine the area that you may want to spend the majority of your time. A couple of my favorite art forms I will mention is wind art and kinetic wind sculptures. Check out this site, it's one my favorite artists in those genres.

While a modern artist can look to the 60's and 70's for contemporary ideas that they can use to create the type of artwork that they like and prefer, an Austin artist may choose numerous types of unique art that can be used in both homes as well as in business facilities. Whatever the preference, the type of art that is chosen by the individual is normally based on their personal interest and the trends that are currently being set in the area that they have chosen.

Wind Sculptures One of Many Sculpture Artists Methods

So, if you are interested in kinetic wind sculptures, there are some key things that you should know. One of which involves how engineering and art is intertwined to create all kinds of pieces that can be powered by nature. For instance, you may want to design pieces that can be classed as wind art since these designs move when the wind begins to blow. These pieces of art can also be fun to look at for long periods of time since the wind controls how much the artwork moves from one position to another. Consequently, the artwork that is produced can be designed to flow freely in different ways to create the exact look that the artist likes best.

Wind Sculptures Researching All Types of Artwork

Though wind sculptures can be exciting to see and work with, there are other types of artwork that can also be seen online and in stores. This artwork can vary in price and difficulty from one artist to another so it is essential for you to look for sculptures for sale prior to completing an exhaustive search. For instance, with abstract artists as a choice, you may want to see what kinds of artwork can be produced for a specific school or other kinds of facilities. Abstract work has been a favorite for many people over the years, especially because they allow each individual to determine what they really see instead of looking at artwork that has specific pictures involved.

Natural Modern Artist Skills and Traditional Classroom Training

While some people are naturally creative and possess exceptional artistic skills, others may not be but they are willing to learn how to create all kinds of artwork that they can display. Which means, if you need assistance getting started in this kind of career, there is a large host of information that you can use from various kinds of sites. The types of artwork will mostly depend on the area that you would like to enter and the availability of information on specific topics. However, when you want to make sure that your skills are enhanced with the latest technologies, you may want to pursue formal classroom training in order to be successful in a specific area.

The Austin Wind Sculpture Artist

2014-02-04T13:52:00.002-08:00

I live in a subdivision where every house is simply a copy of the one next door. That is why I have been looking for a kinetic wind sculpture to set my house apart from the others. My only requirements were that it be made by an Austin artist because I believe in supporting abstract artists in the community and it couldn't upset the HOA. Never seen the type of art I'm talking about? Click here for an example.

Finding Sculptures for Sale

Obviously, wind sculptures are not commonly sold in stores so I knew that I would have to look in unique locations. Thankfully, Austin is home to numerous arts and crafts festivals where local artists are able to sell everything from woodwork to handmade jewelry and whimsical household items.

The first festival had many beautiful pieces of unique art to choose from, but none of them really jumped out at me. A few weeks later, a fall festival was being held at a nearby park, Although it was raining, I decided to try my look.

Then I Found It

While maneuvering my way through the puddles of water, I happened to see several wind sculptures out of the corner of my eye. The minute I entered the tent, I saw an absolutely stunning sculpture that I knew I had to have. It was large, but not too big. It was constructed from metal and an amazing array of colored glass and moved in a clockwise pattern. I knew that it would be the perfect addition to my front yard.

Meeting the Sculpture Artist

I approached the lady running the booth and introduced myself. I let her know that I thought the sculpture was gorgeous and that I definitely wanted to buy it. After she explained she was the artist, I had to complement her on her amazing talent. However, I also had a few questions regarding how safe it was and what type of maintenance would need to be done to ensure it would maintain its appearance.

Maintaining Your Wind Sculpture

She explained that the stand would need to placed approximately two feet into the ground. When mounted correctly, the sculpture was extremely safe, could handle winds up to 80 mph, and it was almost impossible for it to be damaged by the weather.

This was because she had sealed the bearings and constructed the axle from half-inch stainless steel. I learned that there is no maintenance involved. It could be left outdoors year round.

The next weekend my husband and I put it in the yard and it looks amazing. It moves even when there is only the slightest hint of wind in the air. As it turns, it casts complex geometric shapes over the yard.

The glittering glass absolutely shines when it is hit by the sun. I love everything about my wind sculpture, but especially the fact it is a gorgeous piece of modern art that sets my house apart from the others.

Sculptures, Wind Art, And a Particular Austin Artist

2014-01-01T20:55:00.000-08:00

Art has always been a shining staple of civilization and it touches all of our lives eventually. A main branch of art is sculpting, which brings to most people's minds images of sweet grandmotherly types making pottery, or perhaps Patrick Swayze trying to work clay at the same time as Demi Moore and ruining her hard work. However, a modern artist may be just as likely to sculpt with materials that most of us would take to the junkyard without a second thought. These minds of brilliant creativity work metal and wire together to produce a beautiful result: wind sculptures.

What Is A Wind Sculpture?

Wind sculptures, or kinetic wind sculptures, are a kind of abstract art that are designed to move in the wind. They are usually made from metal, but other materials, like wood and plastic, are also sometimes incorporated. I even saw one made of buttons and string once.

These beautiful sculptures can be completely abstract or they can be intended to produce a certain image or idea when moving in the wind. For example, randomly placed metal plates interlock when the wind blows and become a face, if only for a moment or the movement of individual balls may mimic an atom (That's a popular one for museums and science centers, I'm sure).

How Difficult Is It To Create Wind Sculptures?

It can be quite challenging, actually, especially for those who have never done it before. You need to create sculptures that will move in just the way you want them to. A lot of calculation goes into it (And if you're anything like me, you probably don't do math. I'm more of a "splash paint onto a canvas randomly" type of guy) rather than unique art. You would also need to ensure that the material you use won't blow away in the wind and that the structure won't fall apart in heavier winds.

How Does Wind Art Compare To Other Types Of Art?

That ultimately depends on who is doing the evaluating. Early forms of kinetic art garnered a lot of negative criticism due to their unique style (Art was much more conservative back then) but it became very popular with the public. The great kinetic artist Max Bill would display his work at showings with a successful turnout. Today wind art is an accepted cog in the machine of mainstream art.

Where Can I Go To See Wind Sculpture?

Have you tried the Windy City? Wind art is obviously popular in places that get a lot of wind or have few obstructions to block air currents. Deserts and plains are good areas, for example. Many farmers create their own wind sculptures and art institutes in Arizona and Nevada incorporate them all the time. As mentioned earlier, kinetic wind art is popular and fine examples of it can be found at any number of art museums around the country.

Wind sculptures are a wonderful form of art and should definitely be observed at some point by the art aficionado. Take caution if you decide to create your own, however. If you use metal, you'll probably need metal cutters and/or welders at some point. Creating wind art may be dangerous, but the end result is certainly worth the risk! As an end to my article, and thanks for stopping by, I'd like to mention my favorite in the realm. When you're done reading this, check out an artist based out of Austin named Jim LaPaso. You will not be disappointed!

Taking A Closer Look At Kinetic Wind Sculptures

2013-12-16T19:38:00.004-08:00

Nothing is more mesmerizing than watching kinetic wind sculptures in action. The kinds of art today are amazing and can move the human psyche to vast, deep places. Abstract artists like Jim La Paso out of Texas create beautifully designed sculptures that become alive in the wind. Learn more about the impact many sculpture artists have had in the modern art community.

Hypnotizing Art

Kinetic sculptures moved by the wind have become a popular art form. In fact, you may see these sculptures in the yards of homeowners or on the lawns of businesses. The feeling you get when this kind of sculpture moves is hypnotic. Indeed, the feeling enacted by these art forms is different than the one you get when walking into an art gallery.

Living Sculptures

Wind art is a unique form of abstract art that is unique to each artist. For this reason, you may find some pieces more likeable than others and many of them are simply astounding. The Austin artist Paul Voss is an example of how metal and art can come together to form living sculpture. However, the details and work that goes into making wind sculptures is amazing and intricate.

Great Imagination

The imagination fueling artists making unique art is strong and the dedication to making a sculpture the wind moves without breaking is amazing. Some artists take months to piece together metal shapes to create a moveable face or a circular design with rings inside of rings that move independently of one another in even the slightest breeze. Some artist take a lot of time testing their finished pieces to make sure high winds will not destroy them or change the effects they want the piece to make on its viewers.

How Sculptures Can Move

An important aspect to consider about wind sculptures is engineering and how engineering fits into artistic design. Some moving sculptures do so with electricity as well as wind. Others move when a certain part is manually moved, like the silver balls that run through intricate tracks made of stainless steel. Indeed, watching these balls roll in synchronization is amazing and mind blowing to say the least. Some kinetic sculptures have been designed using colored water running through rubber tubing, creating a fantastic display of fluid motion. One aspect to consider is the wonderment of what will be created next in the world of moving art forms.

The Art Of Metal Fabrication

Metal fabrication plays a huge role in the making of wind art. Many artists have experience in areas of metal fabrication that led them to making wind sculptures. In some sculptures, each piece is cut and designed individually, each being fashioned to provide a part of the movement when in motion. You could say the artists are geniuses in design and fabrication.

You can find wind sculptures for sale all over the internet. In fact, the modern artist today using the online platform allows everyone a way to visit galleries for learning more about the passion and unique dedication that goes into this type of sculpting. Collectors can certainly benefit from visiting online galleries, allowing them a global selection. Thanks for stopping by to read. More coming up soon!

Kinetic Wind Sculptures are Unique Abstractions Even in the Art World

2013-12-10T23:37:00.002-08:00

Today almost all abstract artists are on the hunt for new and unusual methods that they can use to bring their visions to life. With an abstract concept it is possible to communicate relationships and the deeper meanings that lie beneath the surface of wood, clay, paints and canvas. As the field of abstract study has broadened so has the popularity for these types of stylized works. Is there any wonder why an Austin artist will become immersed in the search for an art form that can connect with viewers on multiple levels?

Even a novice modern artist has numerous mediums with which to experiment. In addition to the different types of materials that can be chosen, there are different styles and concepts of art theory that can be studied, combined and tweaked. The opportunities to make new advancements in art, and sometimes the journey itself can lead to remarkably avant-garde styles that are as individual as the artists who have created them.

For many people art is merely a collection of stone statues or a gallery of paintings in gilded frames. The art is static and unchanged over hundreds of years. They long to be "moved" by the sight of beautiful art work but who would have imagined that it is a form of "moving art work" that has begun to win legions of new art fans. Kinetic wind sculptures have become some of the more exciting experiences for today's art lover. This is truly an example of "art in motion" and this time the motion shows no sign of becoming stagnant in the near future.

Contemporary sculptures are always popular among art enthusiasts but today many people want to find unique art that makes a real statement about culture or the environment. Kinetic wind sculptures offer bold choices for those who are interested in innovative shapes and intrinsic motion. The Wind art movement is finding its way in the world and these hand-crafted pieces are iconic reflections of ideas, emotions and a sense of universal freedom.

You can find numerous sculptures for sale from smaller models that range 3-5 feet in height to towering models that exceed heights of 20 feet. With this type of abstract sculpture artists can create groupings or singular examples of kinetic art that will leave viewers breathless.

Even if your artistic knowledge is limited you will be mesmerized by the beauty and dynamic motions that define wind sculptures. This is art that is not bound by traditional rules of form and function. You can find fabricated models that are created from titanium, stainless steel and copper. With a ground mount, concrete base and vertical rod installation the pieces can be securely placed in any location. As each breath of wind blows against the sculpture the lines will shift and the form will change. The responsive nature of kinetic art means that there will be a consistent evolution of the sculpture throughout the hours of each day. These monumental sculptures are individual homages to the natural rhythms of life. Allow these abstract designs to stimulate your thought, infuse your imagination and bring the beauty of art into your world.

Abstract, And Other Types of Artists In Austin

2013-12-04T20:20:00.001-08:00

From ancient history, to particular cultural practices and present emotions, art communicates powerful messages. Abstract art is the work of an artist based only on what they see including the color, processes, scale, shapes, brush strokes and size. For example, an artist can use a circle to represent the sun in a painting or sculpture. Abstract artists do not imitate the world in their paintings or sculptures; they simply interpret things as they are.The pioneers of abstract art such as Kandinsky and Delaunay experimented with color, shapes and symbols, but modern artists have devised new ways to make artworks that define some new understanding to life and nature.

I consider art as a gift because it takes a lot of creativity, passion and dedication to venture into this field. Sculpture artists like Nichelle Notabartolo, Richard Mansfield, Marla Ripperda, Cat Quintanilla, and Kristy Richard among others carve out materials like stone, clay, metal, ceramics and wood; into some marvelous artifact. I find their works amazingly beautiful, but I cannot imagine myself sitting down for tens of hours designing one, or even watching one being carved out from stone or metal to completion.

A modern artist has to spend a good amount of his or her time promoting their artistic talent. Even though new marketing strategies like the website, television and print media has made it much easier; I personally find it too involving. I would rather spend that time on the beach or go camping with my friends.

Austin is a city full of artistic talent and you can get the works of almost any Austin artist from the Austin art garage. The garage has different creative and innovative art collections from different artists. Other than art galleries, sculptures for sale can also be found from online stores like Amazon, eBay, the sculpture park, artnet auction houses, sculpture collector and many other art stores. These stores have art collections from thousands of artists across the globe.

I get my inspiration from the beauty of wind art; it makes me see life from a completely different perspective. The unique art found in many kinetic wind sculptures is more stunning than the thousands of standard paintings I see every day. My favorite artists are Jim Lapaso and Anthony Howe. The delicate elements of horror in some of Howe’s sculptures are somehow scary but very fascinating. It is exciting to see some of his wind sculptures exploring the diversity of the world’s most obscure animal species like sea slugs, insects like wasps, sea urchins and many others.

I have keenly been stocking most of Labaso works; from wood to copper and finally stainless steel sculptures are simply demonstrative of his creative imagination. I never stop wondering how one can take a heavy and unyielding metal like steel and carve it into a sculpture that can move at the slightest breeze of wind. Unlike the static works created by many artists, kinetic wind sculptures are designed to move with nature and give a fascinating view of life.

Museums and art galleries around the world are full of collections of sculptures and artifacts from leading artists. Sculptures for sale can be found from an art gallery because museums basically stock them for historical and research purposes. A beautiful sculpture renews excitement in a rather too familiar environment. If you have one in the outside field of your home, you will be fascinated to look at it every day or, touching it just to find out what the artist was imagining creating it.

My Unique Art Adventure

2013-12-04T20:20:00.000-08:00

Ever since I was a child, I've always had a special relationship with art. As I got older, that relationship became more personal and I began to create art myself and to seek out new artists as well. I was determined to be, or to meet the new modern artist, the new voice of an artistic generation. It was not until my fiance booked us a trip to Austin Texas did I truly understand unique art. However, the trip wasn't for art, it was to visit family, so finding would be somewhat of a task.

The first few days spent in Austin were the usual family gathering days anyone has, you meet with family, mingle, they show you landmarks and so forth. It wasn't until day five was I able to slip away from the family and their hilarious farming jokes to go find my own Austin memory. I did indeed find it as well. After enough searching I found an amazing artist, who shall stay anonymous, who created wonderful wind sculptures and kinetic wind sculptures. Before this true modern artist, I had never seen anything like it, and was used to the same old odd sculptures to sale which can usually be seen in the windows of hip coffee shops. This person had raw talent, which seemed to go hand in hand with his energetic style and outlook on life. I spent many days with this person at his studio, he would tell me all the detail that went into each sculpture and how much he believed they were worth. He was my own personal Austin artist, and we got along great. In fact, after a few days I introduced him to my fiance, and even they got along well too.

Wind art is something you normally don't come across, though I wish you would. It's a fantastic, unique, breathtaking art that many more should know of. The way this guy made his paintings, you'd swear he belonged in a museum. He was nothing like the average abstract artists who I'd meet from time to time, he was a true individual with true talent. I almost wish I could have boxed him up and shipped him home to me! However, I knew in just a few days time, my new friend and artist would have to become a long distance friend and artist.

There are many things I learned from watching him work, and many things I've learned about sculpture artists in general. Many people stick their noses up to the sculpture world, possibly because most mainstream sculptures are so bland and boring. This was not the case in Austin though, each sculpture was it's own living entity, ready to be sucked into one's mind to live. I've never seen such talent as I've seen in Austin, and I highly doubt I ever will again. Even the kinetic wind sculptures were awe inspiring and beautiful. It takes a lot of talent to create a decent looking wind sculpture, let alone an amazing looking one. If you're ever in Austin, do yourself a favor and check out it's art scene, it just may change your life.
