it’s here, it’s here!!  or should i say “c’est ici”!  the paris online pop-up shop is open!!  i had this idea…you know what, i think it was about a year ago!  anyways i had this idea to do bi-monthly online pop-up shops (not that that’s anything new) but i envisioned them as city based so we could “travel” along with it.  so let’s just say that it took along time to come to fruition but i couldn’t be happier with it!  i’m thrilled to have these amazing artists & shops onboard – and their excitement for the shop was exactly what i was hoping for!  i want these to be special events – both for you guys as customers & readers but also for the artists and shops participating.

as you guys know, i’m incredibly passionate about getting the word out about the fantastic design that’s out there.  there are so many cool boutiques, online retail shops & etsy artists – i’m excited to be sharing them with you all!!

i’ve got LOTS of fun things in store during the next weeks of this PARIS shop – including daily french lessons on twitter & fb (and yes, this is my attempt to remember my french from school!!)

happy friday everyone!  i’m kind of busting with excitement over here – i’m putting the final touches on the PARIS pop-up shop – so many amazing, awesome artists (love that alliteration!) will be in the shop!  don’t you love when you can finally start seeing the final result – and it’s what you wanted it to be?  that’s how i’m feeling for this first shop – i’m excited to be able to share these artists & stores with you all and their stories.  (and i’m pretty sure that we’re all going to want to jet off to paris after this!)

and during the next 2 months of the shop, i thought it would be fun to have daily french language “lessons” on facebook & twitter – so each day our mission is to use that word or saying!  (this may have come about because i hate that i took french for 3 years…and barely remember it!)

it all kicks off tuesday 5/15 – mark your calendars!  and enjoy this little sneak peek!

what does this mean??  after having an epiphany last year and after the resounding excitement and success over the holidays of the 60 days of wanderlust tour - i combined it all, shook it up and here’s the result…

one sydney road is bringing you online pop-up shops!

each bi-monthly, brightly & carefully curated pop-up shop will be filled to the brim with items hand-picked from my favorite artists & shops around the world!  selection is by invite to folks that have that OSR look & feel going on – you know what i’m talking about - fresh, bright & witty!

my mission (PASSION!) is to give you access to the brightest of the bright, splurges & delights – AND we all get to support & promote these amazingly talented artists who are going after their dreams – win win!

at the heart of it, one sydney road is for all those of us who love the idea of doing something creative, something we’re passionate about and something that’s off the beaten path.  think of it as a place we can support others going after their dream & learn how to do it ourselves!!

and yep, it gets even more fun…you know i’ve got the travel bug and it seems like most of you do too!! so each pop-up shop will carry us away to a new city and will feature products picked to represent that city’s vibe.
let’s get our wanderlust on!

holy moly, tedx ROCKED!!  talk about inspiring – wowza.  i’ve never been to a live ted event before so i really had no idea what to expect.  my friend kendall (from squirt & skootch fame) and i ventured to the museum of art on friday to take in the tedx cle event…and btw, it was gorgeous outside so it was not the easiest thing to stay in all day!  (ha, the sacrifices i make for inspiration, right?

#1 takeaway from tedx cleveland?  apparently there are people in all kinds of industries doing AH-mazing things.  ok, so this isn’t a revelation BUT it was a huge reminder for me to remember that not everything revolves around my biz and the design world.  i know, crazy, right??

#2 takeaway? i need to get off my butt & start volunteering already for the projects that i keep saying “oh, i’d love to volunteer for that”

#3 takeaway?  dar caldwell from launch house describing entrepreneurship - um, yep, he hit the nail on the head with that!!

#4 takeaway…why can’t everyone have him for a teacher??  one of my fave talks…this one knocked my socks off.

i get to step away from the computer today because guess where i am??  TEDX cleveland!!  i can’t wait to share with you all how it was – i’m assuming i’ll come home ready to take on the world – or at the very least, inspired  i’ll fill you in next week!

even when it’s a trip for business (the trip to portland is for a conference), i find that enjoying the moment, not having every second planned out like clark griswald (remember his clipboard schedule??), makes it much more fun, less stressful and usually gives me a story to share! or ends with finding the BEST “insert cafe/park/view here”!

has anyone been to portland? any recommendations for places i need to see or visit?

mariah really impressed me with all the projects she’s working on, her endless enthusiasm and she’s a fellow cavalier king charles spaniel dog owner…we might just end up talking dogs the whole time!

Hello everyone! My name is Mariah Danielsen and I will be helping Piper out with some design work + posting on the one sydney road blog every so often.

I want to take a quick minute and tell you a bit about myself.

I went to school for graphic and web design + marketing and got a corporate design job the day I graduated.  I decided in the last year that I wanted to focus my talents on wedding design + styling so I created Oh, What Love, my blog where I share inspiration boards, color palettes, lyrics from my favorite love songs + DIY projects. I love antiques, anything rustic, anything indie and everything crafty.

I also have a passion for helping people live their dreams so I started the Create + Connect Project with my friend and we’re helping creative entrepreneurs turn their hobbies into a paycheck.

As I make the move (hopefully in the next few months!) from my job in the corporate world to working for myself, I am going to share my journey, including my struggles + triumphs, right here on the one sydney road blog.
