As you’ve probably realized by now, it’s been almost a month since my last post on One Thing To See. There’s several reasons for this, but the main one is that I’ve decided to put this site on hiatus. I might come back to it some day, but for the moment I’m going to take a break from posting here.

However, the good news is that I will be posting lots of One Thing To See-type content on my personal blog at JoshSpector.com. I appreciate everybody that’s been checking out One Thing To See over the past few months, and I hope you’ll check out my personal site, where you’ll find lots of similar stuff posted more than once a day (most days).

This video of a guy drumming on some buckets in the street pretty much speaks for itself – and speaks with some seriously impressive rhythm.

This video features Geechee Dan, who regularly performs in the subways of New York and is one of the best soul singers I’ve heard in a while. It’s part of the Playing For Pocket Change video series which is described as, “A mini series featuring musicians playing on the streets and in the subways of New York City. Often overlooked and ignored, we find out who these people are and what makes them want play in the world’s strangest venue.” Good stuff.

This video may not be an easy one to watch, but it is one that’s worth watching. The video comes from the series Often Awesome, which is a web series that has been chronicling a man’s battle with ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease). This particular video is episode 26 in the series, but is a look back at what’s gone on in the past year of this man’s life and the loved ones around him. It’s heartbreaking, moving, and inspiring all at once. If you’d like to make a donation to help, here’s a link.

You know how there’s tons of videos online of people using special cameras to show you what something that moves really fast looks like in super slow motion? Well, somebody decided to use that same technology to flip the script by placing the high speed camera on a moving train and showing you in slow motion what the people standing at the train station look like as you go whizzing by.

This post explains all the details, but you can just watch the video above and be mesmerized by the fact that “every seven seconds of footage that you watch corresponds to 1 real second.”

There’s really nothing fancy to this video that features footage shot in Telluride, Colorado back in 2009. But it’s shot so well and looks so beautiful that it’s probably going to make you want to book a trip there this winter.

I don’t know much about this video, but it looks like it’s a kid putting on a show at a college dorm for some other students who have showed up to be amazed as he plays a medley of songs (from The Office theme song, to Coldplay, to Lady GaGa) using nothing but a few pipes as instruments.

This video features a dance performance by a group in the Phillipines who like to dress in costumes and dance to Michael Jackson songs. But unlike some of the other cool dance videos I’ve posted, that’s not the reason this one is today’s pick. The reason this video makes the One Thing To See cut is because of the kid in the dance group whose diaper costume falls off during his performance, forcing him to decide whether he should run off stage and protect his modesty or soldier on through the performance. He chooses the latter because the show must go on…and the video must go viral.

You know the classic 1990s party jam “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan? Well unfortunately, this guy knew it too and decided it would be a good song for him to karaoke. Stick it out until the end of the performance if you can, because the end title card is priceless.

I don’t know exactly why it’s interesting to watch 185 movie characters introduce themselves over the course of nine minutes, but I know that it is.
