1/18 Joy Ride RC2 ERTL Honda S2000 (The Fast & The Furious)

Hi all. If you carefully notice my old postings, then this gonna be my first time posting 1/18 street car. I do always try to exclusively collect 1/24 cars only because IMO its size is just perfect. Not too big to store and not too small for detail.

I love HONDA, in fact I drive one. I'm sure I can't be called its fans if I'm not fond of its convertible, S2000. The car is just lovable from every angle. It's even more adorable with its Veilside body kits. Well, as a '1/24 perfectionist', I've been searching for Veilside's S2000 and apparently I have no luck at all. It seems it hasn't been made in 1/24. The only way to go is by getting my hand on this 1/18 S2000 TFTF version made by ERTL, & labeled as Joy Ride.

Now, let's see how it looks like.

The front bumper was made accurately. Isn't it beautiful?!

It comes with detachable soft top.

The engine room is just the average of 1/18s.

NOS powered, as it's a drag car I guess.

Beautifully detailed interior.

I think it stands a lit bit too high than it supposed to be.

I'm happy to rate it 8/10.

1/24 Jada 2010 Ford Mustang GT

Finally got this baby at long last. Saw this one on eBay some time back, but shipping here would cost a bomb. Went to Summit today. And by luck this was there, and there was a discount that came with it. I was kinda indecisive between this color and the black. Decided that the red/maroon would look better.

Love the new 2010 'stangs' front end. The newly redesigned headlights is beautiful. On the Jada, it is very well replicated.Another view of the front. Side signal in place, not messy.
Front and rear wheels. ==" The wheels are HUGE. And very deep. I only wished that this was the stock wheels, as Jada did on the GT-R and the Camaro.
Side view. Those monster wheels are, somehow, growing on me~
Three quarter rear end view. look at how wide the wheels are.
Rear view. Love the lights here. Pity there's some minor paint chips on the matt black part.
Interior shot. Decent. Love it.
Engine shot. Strut bar was not on the 2005 model though. Love that inclusion.

I'd give this a 8/10. Safe for the rims, which could score a 9/10 from me. But what the heck, this looks really good. loving it every second.

1/18 Hotwheels Batmobile Tumbler

Being a fan of Batman will not feel complete if this replica of Tumbler is absent from the collection. As it is my case, I was waiting for this car to be made in 1/24 but it's obvious that none of diecast manufacture is dare enough to put the 1/24 one into production. Luckily, Hotwheels's 1/18 Tumbler is so undersized and it's somewhere around 1:22.5 scale so I picked the Hotwheels one to fill up my Batman's collection =D

So here are the pics

Finished on semi gloss black color, very batmobilish.

The front wheels are oversized, no doubt.

Nice rubber wheels, great exhaust too.

Wild!

The canopy door can be half opened with a bit of effort =D

Considering its price, scale, and details, my rate for this car would be 9/10, well done Hotwheels!

1/24 Maisto Ferrari Enzo

Got this exotic Ferrari car as birthday present from my close friend. I must say that this car really hypnotizes me to adore it. It's a-must-have 1/24 car for Ferrari fans I reckon.

Black window frame & lining was DIY.

And for fun, I changed the rims with SSR Professor VF-1 from Aoshima.

Rate for this car would be 8.5/10

1/24 Jada 2006 Mustang GT Battle Machine

Shipped it from US down to Melbourne for about AUD 35. I was curious about this Jada's Battle Machine line so I was so eager to get it. I thought I would get a nice replica of Death Race's Mustang, in fact, this model is really like a toy with those ridiculous rocket launchers. But still, it's a must-have-Mustang-diecast for Mustang lover.

The interior. A bit plain & boring.

It's just so tidy for a 'death car wannabe' car LOL

1/18 Autoart Honda S2000

Here's an Autoart Honda S2000. Scale is 1:18

Nice front.

Honda logo is a photoetched part.
Nice side profile. The S2000 wording beside the indicator is also a PE part.
3rd quarter rear end. The exhaust are separate metal parts. And so is the Honda logo, again PE parts.
Rear lights have excellent detailing.
Cool red interior.
Boot opens.
Well replicated F20C I4 engine.
Damn its smiling at me!
Decent underbody details.

1/18 Autoart Honda Intergra Type R DC5

Here's the Honda Integra Type R from Autoart. This is a 1/18 scale model.
Details are sharp on this model.
Front end looks very good.
Very realistic rear end. The light clusters are also very well reproduced.
Very well detailed engine bay.
Realistic wheels. Disc brake spins independent from callipers.

This AutoArt gets a 8.5/10 rating from me. Sure, there are small imperfections, but as a overall package, this Honda is near perfection.

1/24 Motor Max Aston Martin DB9

Been hunting for this for a while also. Got it for Rm50, which was Maisto's old price. Not too bad, I suppose, for that level of pricing.
Side view. Looks menacing~
Front view. Love the grille and headlights combo.
Rear shot. The lights still looks good.
Front and rear wheel shots. Wheels are well detailed, but no disc brake detailing. :/
Engine detailing is better than what Maisto offers. Love that V12~
Interior has some woodgrain-like finishing, not bad at all.
My favorite angle.

Overall, I'd give this car a 8/10. Niggles like ride height (a lil too high), no disc brakes are forgiven. AFAIK, no other makers does a 1/24 Aston Martin..

1/24 Maisto Ford Mustang GT 2006

I've been hunting for this model for quite a while already, and when my friend found it for me, I was really ecstatic.
Here's the front view. Looks quite good with the lowered body..
Also looks good from here. Studs/stems are not too obvious.

Rear view. Exhaust unpainted, but the rest looks fine.
Side view. Door gaps are a wee bit too large, but then it's no big deal.
Wheels are pretty well done, but pity there are no brake details. Even the Ford logo can be seen clearly.
Interior detailing is so-so. Nothing to shout about. Love the silver accents.
Here's the Mustang's V8. I respect Maisto for the smallest decal in the engine bay, Well done.

Overall, I'd give the Mustang a 7/10 rating. I do suspect that the Revell (plastic) have better details.

1/24 Jada Nissan GT-R R35

I recently got myself a replica of Japanese beast of GT-R R35 in red hot color. Unlike Eric's Maisto R35, this car is made by Jada which is slightly bigger than any 1/24 car. I must admit that Jada's one is more superior than Maisto's in both quality and detail. No wonder that Jada's R35 is much more expensive than Maisto's one. Unfortunately, I don't have the Maisto's R35 thus I cannot make head-to-head comparison of both cars. However, you may refer to the earlier post of Eric's R35 to give you a picture of Maisto's R35.

The red body paint is awesome. The picture just somehow doesn't do the car justice.

The emblem is nicely done. A bit of paint chips on the lips but would be easily fixed with airbrush touch up.

Paint chips spotted, again! The trunk is 'openable' by the way.

Thanks God! Rearlight is made by plastic. Better than Maisto's red painted backlight.
Nice exhaust tips as well.

Perfect wheels I supposed. Look at that brake hiding behind the wheels, lovely.
Maisto's R35 doesn't have any brake behind its steerable wheels.
The GT-R emblem really gives more details to its exterior.

Opening engine hood, doors, and trunk.

The engine is nicely detailed. Thanks jada for forgetting the chrome here.

Interior is not bad for 1/24 quality. Again, thanks Jada for not throwing any ridiculous ICE there.

Overall, it is a decent 1/24 diecast you can get from Jada and a must have diecast car for GTR's fans. In my honest opinion, it's one of the best Jada cars.

I love this car so much. My rate is 9/10 for it.

1/24 Welly BMW 330i E90

Here is another lovely BMW that I got recently in unexpected and miraculous way. Well, it's a long story that I cannot tell everything here right now. Frankly, I'm almost getting crazy with my uni assignment at the moment. So I kinda steal a 'piece' of my 'pizza' time tonight to write a review here in order to loosen up my stress and tense from the assignment thing. For short, I got it so gratefully cheap from one of 2 dollar shop selling China made stuffs and thanks to my dad who found this one of my most wanted cars. Yeah.. BMW car diecast, particularly in 1:24 scale, will always be on my most wanted cars list.

So here is the 1:24 replica of luxury saloon BMW 3 series, 330i, in E90 form which made by Welly.

Silver painted body with gray interior shows matching color combination.

Look at those headlamps. They are so well made replicating HID projector look.

Only front doors are 'openable'. No disc brake hiding behind the wheels.

The tail looks simple and clean. Nice exhaust tips too.

I like this engine room, it looks so much better than any of Jada with chrome spotted all over the place.

the interior is poorly represented here. Lack of detail.

Love to see both together.

If I could choose, I would have this car in black anytime. Unfortunately, this car had been left alone abondoned on the shelf when I met it. But still, I love the silver too.

Hence, I cannot objectively rate this car as I have already fell in love with it.
It's just almost perfect for 1:24!

So I leave it for you to leave the rating.

1/24 Jada Veilside 350Z

Jada's Veilside 350Z

And now is the time for me to give my first review on Jada's product, the 350Z Veilside. Oh.. Come on, I belive it's not only me getting crazy over Z33 after watching Tokyo Drift, right?! LOL. It certainly becomes one of my favourite car back then when Tokyo Drift fever struck me. It's been years for me forgeting my day dreaming addiction toward this car. But recently, this unique 'virus' hit me back, even more. After sitting in front of my computer for hours browsing on ebay to look for this car, I rather got nothing as the price just ridiculously unjustifiable. Funnily, until like 2 days ago, when I went to BigW Department Stores accompanying my mom shopping some household stuffs, my instinct brought my attention to the toy section, and there I eventually found a black car figure wrapped inside Jada packaging box staring at me. And there was the Fairlady dressed in Veilside 'gown' caught my attention. I took this thing off from the shelf quickly after I noticed the attractive price tag on the box and quickly run to the cashier to sedate my breathtaking joy. The feelling just indescribeable. The car is still untouched from any modification at the time I took the photo shot of it. I got a bunch of plans to improve the details and customise it in the future. So here are the pictures at the moment..

A bit dissapointed with Jada's choice of wheel, the one im after is the veilside Andrew Evolution

The front bumper is a bit too high.. hm.. would be nice if carbon lips are added.

Huge wing. The best part of the body kit.

Interior is a bit stuffed up I think.

The paint quality is top notch!

Engine bay. I hate the chromes =(

The ICE is not my taste.

1/24 Cararama VW Golf GTI MK V

Wild looking 'Red Devil' Golf GTI

In contrast to my poor 328i convertible, this Golf GTI from Cararama is just too good to be true in term of its price & quality. This one costs me less than the 328ci yet featuring decent detail & quality. The glossy paint is so smooth without showing off observable orange peel. The wheels you'll see in the pictures below are not the ones came from the box. The original wheel is just fine, but the car's stance is too high I suppose. As it's quite troublesome to reduce the height of the car without damaging the original chasis, I decide to replace them with Fujimi's BBS 17 inch two tone color version (some say 'time attack' version). The car turns out hotter, doesnt it? At least it does before my eyes. Here some pics for you to enjoy..

The height is just perfect now.

The widebody is so natural. Perfect emblem. Nice exhaust tips too.

Panel line is added.

Beautiful 'eyes' & 'mustache' - if you know what I mean ^^

The best engine room Ive ever seen in 1/24 car so far.

1/24 Sunnyside BMW 328i Convertible

Got this baby from US ebay for about AUD 25 about a month ago and it seems that this replica of the 'topless' 3 series BMW is not a fancy diecast which usually comes with a nice set of wheels and decent details. Soon, I replace the original wheels with Fujimi's 17 " BBS RG346 and lower the suspension. Here come the pictures.

The grill is so lousy as well as the no plate & headlamp. One word, awful!

Look at the headrest! So ridiculous.

Well, not bad for interior.. The beige color cherishes it up.

The car looks so much better on these wheels.

Well, it's the worst quality diecast I've ever had so far. But I dun really care actually because I'm collecting BMW 3 series. I know there are plenty of rooms that needs improvement & detailing for this car. So if my spare time allows, I'm gonna put more details on this poor bimmer. Rate? 6/10.

1/43 Cararama Volkswagen Golf GTI

Here's another of the RM5 Tesco Cararama series. This is the final one from my haul at Tesco. Can't find these any more. As usual (for now), the details are superb for a car at this price.Side profile. Simple looking. Love those rims.
Still have the even-more-lovely brake callipers. Mirrors are not oversized here.
Simple back here.
Very detailed front end. Even the GTI wording is there. Not the umber plate, but on the grille.
Rear end. Brake lights a bit pinkish, but it's not much of a big deal.
Interior is the usual high standard.
Sorry for the rather dark pictures, as my cam seemed to have some problems. Anyway, from the first pic, you can see that the GTI seems to have the R8's LED light like effects. Nice.
I would buy a few more of these little cars if they were still around. At this price and with such details, it is really a steal.

1/43 Cararama Alfa Romeo Brera

Here's another 1/43 Cararama I got from Tesco for a mere RM5. Let's see how good does it stack up against the C30.

The side profile. Very beautiful, although the side mirror does seem a bit big. maybe it's just me.
Would you just have a look at the rims? It is really detailed. Even the Alfa badge is nice and clear. Well done !
The front of the car is also spectacular. Each of the headlight is individual. And look at the grille. The Alfa badge is still present, and still as beautiful as ever.

The rear end is also just as nice. Can you spot the minuscule bee-sting antenna?
Have a peek at the radio inside the interior.
Overall, I am really pleased with this Brera. It looks good, has detailing that belongs to much more expensive models and the price is just insane. I give this a 8.9/10.

1/43 Cararama Volvo C30

You might consider this odd, as the title of the blog says One Twenty Four, but I also review small (bigger) scales too. And so here is Cararama's 1/43 Volvo C30. Bought it from Tesco quite a while back for around RM5. Which translates to -> Cheap. Be ready to get surprised at this little beauty.The side profile. Everything looks in place. Nothing seems to be out of order. Yet.

Look at the wheels closely. Not even my RM60 GT-R has disc brakes !! This is what I call attention to detail. Cararama has managed to fit disc brakes on a 1/43 dirt cheap diecast.
Looks at the detailing on the front. Even the small Volvo badge is well made.
The exhaust is a slight disappointment, but for this kind of price, I'm not complaining.
Look at the interior. You can actually see the red carpet. Pity its plastic, not the soft material found in AutoArt or Kyosho cars. =p
Overall, I can't say I'm not pleased with it. For a mere RM5, I'm getting details from far more expensive models. Pity I can't find them already. I'd give this a 9/10.

1/24 Nissan GT-R R35

Finally I managed to get this baby from a toy shop in KL. I was really ecstatic when I found it, as I was hunting high and low for this one. Although I'm not much of a fan of JDMs, I do enjoy a nice one every now and then. This one is no different. The paintjob is almost flawless. The detailing is as close as perfect. Although I don't quite like the rear light being painted on. And the silver rims. But the worst part? Prices has rose by RM10. I'd give the GT-R a solid 8.5/10.

Side profile. Beautiful.
Front Part. Nothing much to shout at, but at least that there is a GT-R wording there.
Rear end. Also nothing much to shout about.

Interior Shots. Quite close to excellent for a 1/24 model.
Engine details are Maisto's signature semi-3D engine.
Front View. Very well done.
Rear End. Pity those lights are painted on.
Overall Shots. Easily one of the best angles.

1/24 Maisto Lamborghini Murcielago LP640

Got this baby before I left for my studies. Got it from Parkson and it was on a 20% off discount. Details are so so. Wheels are a tad bit too small, and the engine details are rather sparse. Not to mention that the paintjob is a bit rough. The side indicator is also not perfect. The dimensions are good. I do like the headlight. All in all, it's all about the subject.

Side profile. Notice how the car's butt seems to be a bit heavier. Hmm.

Front Side. The indicator light is not perfect and requires some touch up job.
back Side. Nothing much to shout about.
Front View. Easily one of the best angles.
Back View. Also not too bad.
Interior Shot. Also rather sparse.

1/24 Motor Max New Audi TT

One of my favorite sport cars is Audi TT, either the previous model or the latest one, because it has a unique body style which is like a combination of sporty and elegant look. The first time I saw the previous model, I stood in awe of it. In my opinion, it’s like a futuristic car. For instance as we look at the interior design, it’s like a spaceship. Compared to the latest model, the old one looks a bit fatty and round.

New Audi TT

I can’t deny the fact that the latest Audi TT looks hotter than the previous model. Of course comparison between the older and the newer model has a significant flaw as we’re trying to compare two things in different timeline. Thus, I want to make it clear that both the older and the newer Audi TT are amazing cars.

Motor Max's Audi TT with Fujimi's BBS LM

I got this 1:24 replica, fairly priced at AUD 20, from eBay UK three months ago. When it came to my hands, I was saddened that the left side mirror was broken. As I claimed it to the seller, I got AUD 4 refunded ^^ So I got it pretty cheap for this car. Then I fixed the mirror with superglue to get it sit firmly. The standard wheels are OKAY but as I have spare Fujimi BBS LM 18 inch wheels, I replaced the original ones with Fujimi’s.

Pefect color for Audi TT, thanks to Motor Max!

No details on the back light, just red plastic cover

No side windows as usual 1/24 diecast

Engine hood is easily 'openable'

Engine detail is superb among 1/24 diecasts

Its interior quality is equivalent to Maisto's R8

I strongly recommend to get youself this Audi TT, expecially for those who is a fan of Audi.

1/24 Mondo Motors BMW M3 e92

Since Eric trusts me to drop a few lines for this blog, so here we go, I present you with BMW M3 e92 made by Mondo Motors which also known as Motor Max.

Beforehand, lemme tell you a brief story how I end up having this great replica.

I’ve been one of the hugest fans of M powered BMW 3 series since I was a kid. Initially, I loved the e30 back then, but across the time, I begin to love e36 more, and after BMW releasing the e92, I realize that I desire the e92 most. Look at those two liver grills! Headlight! Interior! V8 engine! Oh my, what a great car it is! As a 1:24 die cast collector, I’ve been dreaming, waiting, and searching to get my hands on this beautiful car in 1:24 scale.

Finally, the wait is over. I eventually found this BEEMER listed on Germany eBay for sale while I was doing my school assignment. Please don’t ask me how come I end up visiting eBay site as I was struggling & dying to finish up my assignment! LOL. Without any hesitation, I hit the ‘buy it now’ button and brought my dream into reality.

Later on, the bill came to me from paypal and it was clear that I have to spend some of my fortune, bloody AUD 50. “Relax! Don’t worry mate! It is your dream, Chris! Trust me, you won’t regret it! You did a fantastic job! Just pay for it, okay!” was what I heard in my mind on that very day. Indeed, that voice didn’t do me wrong.

Okay, enough for my crappy story and now time for some pics and comments!!!

My first impression was WOW because I was impressed by the carbon fiber roof that looks so real! However, I was let down by the undersized wheels and lousy headlight. Other than these, it is PERFECTO! This particular diecast is only available in two colors, white and grey. I picked the white one as it looks better in my opinion.

As I can't stand looking at the undersized wheels, I changed these wheels with a set of 1/24 Aoshima Leon Hardiritt Bugel 20 inch wheels which later on were replaced by the new released 1/24 Fujimi BBS LM 20 inch. Afterward, I gave a bit of detailing touch on the air dam and panel lines in place to keep the car away from looking like a toy.

The interior is pretty well made. As you may see the side panel and the seat are wrapped on beige color. I would say that the dashboard and the steering wheel are the exact mirror of the actual ones.

Lastly, I would say that I’m quite satisfied with the quality of this diecast. But I’ve seen a few better quality car diecasts such as 1/24 bBurago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (see this review by Eric here) and 1/24 Cararama Golf GTI. Overall, I rate 8/10 for this newest car made by Mondo Motors.

1/24 bBurago Lamborghini Reventón

My brother got this Reventón for my birthday. It retails at the same price as the Superleggera and is available in most major departmental stores. The Reeventon has a very unique color scheme, and is often referred as a fighter jet on roads. As usual, the car's engine is superb, save for the rather small sized wheels. Other than that, I don't see any major flaws for a car this cheap.

1/24 bBurago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

Priced at RM69.90 and is also available in most departmental stores. Available colors include this metallic gray and bright yellow. A tad bit pricier than most Maistos, but I guess the engine details is bBurago's main selling point. The main cons I can think of is that the tire sizes seems to be the same among most bBurago Lamborghinis.

Side profile. The shape is really sexy.
Front view. Looks just as good.
Rear view. Since this was an early shot, the black color in the exhaust has not been painted yet, but has since been painted.
The main selling point. Tell me that you can find anything better than this at this price.
Heck, this is my only 1/24 that has seatbelts.

1/24 Maisto Audi R8

Priced at RM49.90 and is readily available at most departmental stores. Not bad at all for that price. Interior details is good for this price range, but the wheels could have been better. Available colors are white with black sideblades and light blue with silver sideblades. A red with black sideblades would look good too. And one problem with Maisto is that their engines are not as 3D as bBurago's , but I guess it's a fair trade off for better wheels when compared to bBurago's. Enjoy the pictures.

The rear end. The 1/18 version's rear spoiler can be popped up.

The front view. Also very well done. For a sub RM50 car, that is.
The interior shot. Notice that even the pedals were painted silver.

The R8 logo on the ledge. Small touches goes a long way.
The only letdown. The engine sure does look good, but it is only semi 3D. But I am not complaining.
The wheels do look good, but I guess it can still be improved. Maybe on the R8 V10?
