Jenis Google Adsense

a. Adsense Indonesia for Content

https://www.google.com/adsense/adformats

b. Adsense for Search

Baik Adsense for Search maupun Google Free Search melakukan pencarian sesuai kata yang kita masukkan.

c. Adsense for Refferal

LAST COMMENT :

The AdSense Factor

Google describes AdSense as “a fast and easy way for web site publishers of all sizes to display relevant Google ads on their web site’s content pages and earn money.” The AdSense ads displayed by Google on your site are matched to Google’s interpretation of the content theme of your site. In this manner, the AdSense ads will be of interest to your site visitors looking for the unique content your site offers to them.
AdSense is a system where Google places its AdWords ads on the content pages of non-Google web sites. It is a pay-per-click (PPC) service where webmasters are paid a portion of the revenue collected by Google from the advertisers. The advertiser pays Google a pre-determined amount each time a web site visitor clicks on an AdSense advertisement.

AdWords is the Source of AdSense Income
AdWords ads are the source of all the AdSense income you are able to generate. As a result, you need to fully understand the AdWords system in order to appreciate how the AdSense system works.
Google describes AdWords as “a quick and simple way to purchase highly targeted cost-per-click (CPC) advertising, regardless of your budget.” These paid ads (sponsored links) are displayed by Google on the search engine results page along with the non-paid (natural results) for a given keyword search.
In order to create a Google AdWords ad, it is necessary to specify what keyword or keyword phrase must be input by the visitor before your AdWords ad will be displayed. In addition, you need to set the maximum amount that you will pay to Google for each click on your AdWord.
There is a nominal activation fee but Google does not have a minimum monthly charge. Google provides an account Control Center that allows you to track the performance of your ad. The ad will be displayed within minutes to the searchers after your account billing information has been submitted to Google.
AdWords ads must adhere to specific Google requirements. The title can contain up to 25 characters, the ad text can have up to 70 characters and the display URL must be less than 36 characters.

AdWords Ranking
Google will rank an AdWords ad based on the maximum CPC, the click through rate (CTR) and the relevancy of the ad text. Google prefers relevant and well-targeted AdWords ads. Google determines ad placement using the value formula: CPC x CTR. The ad is placed higher as the valuation rises. It’s possible for an advertiser to have a high rank position with a low CPC if the CTR makes the value to Google higher than other ads with a higher CPC.
Google requires a minimum CTR in order to protect the AdWords program value for its users. The CTR of all AdWords ads are monitored by Google on a continuous basis. An under-performing AdWords ad may be disabled by Google if the CTR does not improve.

AdSense Program
You need to apply and be accepted by Google before you can display the AdSense ads on your web site. They are very particular about the sites that are eligible and accepted. Google’s name is on the ads and they cannot risk hurting the perceived value of the AdSense and AdWords programs.
Google requires you to comply with their program policies if your website is accepted into the AdSense program. Otherwise, your website may be dropped from the program.
Your site must be content-focused to be accepted. Google wants sites that offer high quality information or rich in relevant content. You should have lots of interesting and informative content for your site visitors.
As previously mentioned, AdSense is a program in which you get paid for your web site visitors clicking on targeted AdWords ads placed on your site. A click through is when a visitor clicks on one of the ads. The ads are placed in a display box that you put on your website in a location that earns you money.
You have a chance to make a significant amount of money if the AdSense box is placed in a strategic location on your site and you have sufficient targeted traffic.
The AdWords advertiser pays as little as $0.05 per click up to $100 per click depending on the unique keywords. The AdWords campaigns are usually budgeted for a specific period of time by the advertisers.

Contextual Advertising
Google uses proprietary algorithms to determine the content on each page of your web site with an AdSense box. It will identify the AdWords ads that are contextually relevant to your website visitors based on the content of your site. The identified AdWords ads are then displayed in your AdSense box. The ads on your site are the same ads that appear on the right side of a Google
search results page for a specific keyword.
Contextual advertising is the process of displaying ads on a web site that are targeted to the individuals visiting the specific web site. The Google contextual advertising system scans the content text on your web site for keywords on each web page with the AdSense box. Google will display ads on each web page based on what it believes is the keyword theme for that specific page.
For example, if Google determines that the theme of a specific web site is about “fishing” then fishing-related AdWords ads will be displayed in the AdSense box. The ads about fishing are an approximate fit to the context or subject of the web page as determined by Google.

Monetize Your Content Rich Website
Every webmaster with high-quality and focused web page content can monetize their knowledge and expertise by using AdSense. You need interesting and informative content on your site in order to bring free and targeted traffic to your web site and capitalize on the AdSense model.
You can generate revenue on your AdSense website on a consistent basis if your web site has a focused theme with targeted traffic. It’s a good idea to have multiple pages with rich content on various topics that are centered around the specific theme of your website. Google can then target relevant ads to display on each web page that contains the AdSense box.
Google performs all the technological work for you to use the AdSense program. After your web site is accepted into the AdSense program, you obtain the HTML code to insert into your web pages from Google. The code will incorporate whatever specific customization you choose for the AdSense box.
It does not take very long before relevant ads appear on your web pages. If the ads are not relevant then you need to modify your content and keywords to help Google isolate the theme of your site. This will involve trial and error.

AdSense Factor
The items needed (I call it the AdSense Factor) to make substantial money using the AdSense program include:
• A website with multiple web pages with a central content theme that draws significant targeted traffic.
• Relevant ads with high click values that are relevant to the theme on each web page.
• A high click through rate by your website visitors.

Website Central Theme
Your website should be based on a specific theme. This is where brainstorming comes into play. You need to spend ample time determining what the theme of your site should be. Generate a list of all your skills, capabilities and areas of interest as you would in developing a niche market.
Select one or more of the niches and identify a keyword phrase to be the central theme of your web site. Identify the “wants and needs” of individuals in that niche that desire information to be satisfied or produce a solution to a problem. In your brainstorming session, identify all the keywords you can that relate to the central theme.
As an example, assume your central keyword theme is “fishing.” Potential supporting keywords could include (depending on the direction you take): fishing rods, lures, tackle, bait, gear, reels, boats and a long list of related items. You then need to develop a separate web page for every keyword item that you use to support the central theme.

Keyword Page Content
Each keyword page needs to have quality content that would be of interest and informative to your prospective visitors looking for information. You can develop the content yourself, use existing free information or pay someone to develop the content for you.
As a starter, you should attempt to generate the content yourself. Research each topic keyword and write articles of 200 to 600 words. The articles should be informative and rich in keywords for each web page with an AdSense box. Remember that “more” is better. The more content-related pages you have then the more AdSense ads you will be able to display and hopefully the more money you will make.
If you believe that you absolutely cannot write articles for whatever reason then look for existing free articles on your web page topic(s). You can also hire a freelance or ghostwriter at very reasonable rates to write articles for you. The choice is yours on how you proceed to get content for your web pages.
When you write your own articles, try to write your articles as if you were talking to someone. Plan on inserting the keyword or keyword phrase in as many places that make sense. The keyword density should be in the 5 to 10% range. This means that the keyword should be included about once every 10 to 20 words in the article. In order to help Google determine the theme for each of your web pages with the AdSense box: use headings and subheadings, use "h1" through "h5" tags where appropriate to add attention and make all keywords bold "b" text in your articles.

Conclusion
You need to consider implementing AdSense on your site if you want to make money from advertising. Google has made it relatively easy and clear to monetize your website through the use of AdSense. The steps involved in the process are:
• First – develop a central keyword theme for your website that contains informative and quality information desired by your targeted visitors.
• Second – develop multiple content rich web pages with individual keyword themes that are focused around your central keyword theme.
• Third - apply and get accepted into the Google AdSense program.
• Fourth - install the AdSense ads box on each content web page with a defined keyword theme.
• Fifth - drive targeted traffic to your website where a percentage of your visitors looking for your informative and quality information will click on the AdSense ads.
• Sixth - collect and enjoy the money paid to you by Google for the clicks on each ad you presented to your visitors.
Keep the “AdSense Factor” in mind when developing your web pages and your visitors will have a high interest in your content. This will lead to your visitors clicking on the AdSense ads and putting money into your pocket.

About The Author
Copyright (C) 2005 – Terry Markle is the owner of QuikSystems – A website dedicated to strategies and methods to increase high-quality and targeted visitor website traffic. Suppose that you’re selling an e-commerce system and you find the following list (the numbers are the predict numbers, the number of times that Wordtracker believes the term is used each day)

Notice the term e-commerce. This is probably not a great term to target because it’s very general and has a lot of competition. But lower down on the list is the term e-commerce solutions. This term is a combination of two keyword phrases: e-commerce and e-commerce solutions. Thus, you can combine the predict numbers: 1,828 searches a day plus 130 a day. If you target e-commerce solutions and optimize your Web pages for that term, you’re also optimizing for e-commerce.

Notice also the term ecommerce (which search engines regard as different from e-commerce) and the term a little lower on the list, ecommerce software. A term even lower down encompasses both of these terms: ecommerce software solution. Optimize your pages for ecommerce software solution, and you’ve just optimized for three terms at once.
Use the keyword-analysis procedure I’ve described in this chapter, and you’ll have a much better picture of your keyword landscape. Unlike the majority of Web site owners, you’ll have a good view of how people are searching for your products and services.

Choosing Your Keywords

When you’ve finished working with a keyword tool, look at the final list to determine how popular a keyword phrase actually is. You may find that many of your original terms are not worth bothering with. My clients often have terms on
their preliminary lists — the lists they put together without the use of a keyword tool — that are virtually never used. You’ll also find other terms near the top of the final list that you hadn’t thought about. The next several sections help you clean up this list.

Removing ambiguous terms
Scan through your list for ambiguous terms, keyword phrases that probably won’t do you any good for various reasons.

You missed the target
Take a look at your list to determine whether you have any words that may have different meanings to different people. Sometimes you can immediately spot such his site. To him, the term referred to Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
But to the vast majority of searchers, cam means something different. Search Wordtracker on the term cam, and you come up with phrases such as web cams, web cam, free web cams, live web cams, cam, cams, live cams, live web cams, and so on. To most searchers, the term cam refers to Web cams, cameras used to place pictures and videos into Web sites. The phrases from this example generate a tremendous amount of competition, but few of them would be useful to my client.

Ambiguous terms
A client of mine wanted to promote a product designed for controlling fires. One common term he came up with was fire control system. However, he discovered that when he searched on that term, most sites that turned up don’t promote products relating to stopping fires. Rather, they’re sites related to fire control in the military sense: weapons-fire control.

This kind of ambiguity is something you really can’t determine from a system such as Wordtracker, which tells you how often people search on a term. In fact, it’s often hard to spot such terms even by searching to see what turns up when you use the phrase. If a particular type of Web site turns up when you search for the phrase, does that mean people using the phrase are looking for that type of site? You can’t say for sure. A detailed analysis of your Web site’s access logs may give you an idea; see Chapter 18 for the details.

Very broad terms
Look at your list for terms that are incredibly broad, too general to be of use. You may be tempted to go after high-ranking words, but make sure that people are really searching for your products when they type in the word.
Suppose that your site is promoting degrees in information technology. You discover that around 40 people search for this term each day, but approximately 1,500 people a day search on the term information technology. Do you think many people searching on the term information technology are really looking for a degree? Probably not. Although the term generates 40,000 to 50,000 searches a month, few of these will be your targets. Here are a few reasons
why you should forgo this term:
_ It’s probably a very competitive term, which means ranking well on it would be difficult.
_ You may be better off spending the time and effort focusing on another, more relevant term.
_ It’s difficult to optimize Web pages for a whole bunch of search terms (see Chapter 6), so if you optimize for one term, you won’t be optimizing for another, perhaps more appropriate, term. terms. One of my clients thought he should use the term cam on

More ways to find keywords

Wordtracker has a number of other search tools available (although I use mainly the ones I discuss earlier in the chapter):
_ Full Search: Wordtracker returns similar terms in the same conceptual ballpark (a very large ballpark, though).
_ Simple Search: You can dump a bunch of keyword phrases into a text box to find actual search terms that include those keywords. If you then use these keywords on your pages, your pages are more likely to rank high in the search engines because you face little competition from other sites.
To do a competitive analysis, click the Competition Search button at the top of the Step 3 page. On the next page that appears (as shown in Figure 4-7), you can check various search engines and directories, two at a time. Wordtracker
tells you how often the term is searched for and how often the keyword phrase appears in Web pages in the indexes you selected.
At the bottom of the Competition Search page, you find the KEI Analysis and Quotes drop-down list boxes. You generally want to keep these options turned on:
_ Quotes: Wordtracker encloses your search term in quotation marks
when entering it into the selected search engines. For instance, if your phrase is rodent racing, Wordtracker searches for “rodent racing”. The quotation marks tell the search engine that you want to find only those pages that contain the exact term rodent racing, providing a better idea of your true competition. If you search for the term without using quotation marks, you get all the pages with the word rodent or racing somewhere in the page (the terms don’t necessarily appear together or in order), which returns far more results. You want to leave the Quotes option turned on because you’re competing with sites that have the exact term in their pages.
_ KEI Analysis: Wordtracker calculates the KEI (Keyword Effectiveness Index), which is a comparison of the number of people searching for a term and the number of Web pages returned by a search engine for that term. (See Figure 4-8.) The higher the KEI, the more powerful the term.
KEI is not always useful. A term that has few competing pages and is searched upon infrequently can generate a high KEI. This term would have little benefit to you because although the competition is low, the
number of searches is also low. The Competition Search also provides information on pay-per-click (PPC) services — services that allow you to buy a position in the search results, as discussed in Chapter 15. Wordtracker shows you the prices that you’d pay for these terms in a variety of PPC systems. Some people like to run a PPC check even if they’re not doing a PPC campaign because it may give them an idea of what terms other people think are effective for sales. However, just because others are spending a lot of money on a particular term doesn’t mean they’re actually making money from it!

Tanda-tanda terjadinya kecanduan Internet

1. Click the Home button in the navigation bar at the top of any Wordtracker page to go to the Wordtracker home page.
2. Click the Keyword Universe link. You see the page shown in Figure 4-5.
3. Type the first keyword in your list into the box on the left and then click the Proceed button.
Both the Lateral and Thesaurus check boxes are selected by default.
Here’s the lowdown on these options:
• Lateral: Wordtracker looks for 200 Web sites it thinks are related to the word you typed, and grabs keywords from their KEYWORDS meta tags. (You find out more about the KEYWORDS meta tags in Chapter 6.)
• Thesaurus: Wordtracker looks up the word in a thesaurus.
After clicking the Proceed button, wait a few minutes while Wordtracker builds a list. Then scroll down the left frame to see the list.
4. Click a word in the list in the left frame to load the corresponding table in the right frame.
The table shows you actual searches from the Wordtracker database containing the word you clicked, and other keyword phrases containing that word. So, for instance, if you click rodent, you see search terms such as rodents, rodent control, rodents revenge, rodent, rodent repellent, rodent pictures, and so on.

Next to each term in the table, you see two numbers:
_ Count: The number of times Wordtracker found the search term in its database. The database contains searches for 60 days — more than 310 million of them. So the count is the number of times the term was used in the last two months in the search engines from which Wordtracker builds its database.
_ Predict: An estimate of how many times this term is likely to be used each day, in all the Internet search engines combined.
Wordtracker simply extrapolates from the count number to arrive at the predict number. Wordtracker assumes that the search engines it’s working with account for a certain percentage of all searches, so it simply takes the count number and multiplies accordingly.
I believe these numbers are too low. From what I’ve seen and heard, these terms may actually be searched for 50 to 100 percent more often than the predict number. However, what counts is the relative, rather than absolute, number. If one phrase has a predict value of 12,000 times a day, and another one 6,000 times a day, the actual numbers may be 24,000 and 12,000, but what really matters is that one is much more than the other.
Here’s what you can do with the list of search terms in the right frame:
_ Click the Click Here to Add All Keywords to Your Basket link to add all the keyword phrases to your project. (The number next to the basket in the bottom frame increases as you add phrases to the project.)
_ Click a term to add just that term to the project.
_ Click the shovel icon in the Dig column to see similar terms. Click the shovel in the rodents revenge row, for example, to see a smaller list containing download rodents revenge, rodents revenge download, download rodents revenge game, and so on.

Should you add all the words in the list at once, or one by one? That depends. If the list contains mostly words that seem to you to be relevant keywords, click the All link at the top to add them all — you can remove the few that are no good later. If most of the list seems to be garbage, scroll down the list and add only the useful words.

After you’ve finished tweaking the list, here are a couple of other things you can do:
_ Click another keyword phrase in the left frame to load a new list in the right frame with search terms related to that phrase.
_ Type another word from your original list into the box at the top of the left frame. Wordtracker then retrieves more terms related to it from the thesaurus and KEYWORDS meta tags.
_ Type a term into the text box at the top of the right frame and click the Go button to create a list based on that term.

The left frame is handy because it runs your words through a thesaurus and grabs words from KEYWORD meta tags. But I also like to use the text box at the top of the right frame: I grab a few keyword phrases from my list and copy them into the box (each one needs to be on a separate line). This is a quick way to find matching phrases for the terms already in your list. Typing a word into the text box at the top of the right frame is the same thing as clicking a word in the left frame — Wordtracker looks for real search phrases that include the word. Type (or paste) multiple words into that text box, and
Wordtracker looks for matches for each of those words.

Creating a Wordtracker project

Wordtracker lets you create projects so you can store different groups of terms — perhaps one for each Web site or, if you’re a consultant, one for each client. The first thing you should do — after plunking down your money and setting up the standard username and password stuff — is create a project.
Here’s how:
1. Click the Projects button on the main navigation page (which you see after you log in). The Projects page appears, as shown in Figure 4-3.
2. Give your project a name and then click the Change Project Name button to save the new name.
Wordtracker allows you to have seven projects, storing different keyword lists. You can empty old projects and rename them as you move on to new Web projects. This may be an important feature if you’re an SEO professional or a Web designer working on multiple Web sites.
3. To load your existing list into the project, click the Import button, copy and paste the words from the list into the large text box (one entry per line, as shown in Figure 4-4), and click the Submit button.
I recommend that you leave the Compressed Import option button selected. Doing so changes all the entries to lowercase, regardless of how you typed them. Remember that Google, and most other search systems, are not case sensitive anyway, so Rodent is the same as rodent.
After the list is imported, another page opens, which contains your list with a number in parentheses next to each keyword or keyword phrase; this is the count, the number of times the word or phrase appears in the database.

If you wish to have a professional shared hosting quality in a free hosting package, come and host with 000webhost.com and experience the best service you can get absolutely free.

Founded in December 2006, 000webhost.com has a trusted free hosting members base of over 60,000 members and still counting! (SEO professionals also like to throw the term SEO around, rather than use the more unwieldy but clearer term search engine optimization.) I generally
don’t like endorsing a product in this manner; elsewhere in this book, I mention products and even state that they’re good. But Wordtracker is a special case. I know of no other tool that matches it or that is anywhere near as popular. And it’s cheap to use, so I recommend that you do so.

Wordtracker, owned by a company in London, England, has access to data from several very large metacrawlers. A metacrawler is a system that searches multiple search engines for you. For example, type a word into Dogpile’s search box
(www.dogpile.com), and the system searches at Google, Yahoo!, Ask Jeeves, AltaVista, and many others.

Wordtracker gets the information about what people are searching for from Metacrawler.com, Dogpile.com, and others, for a total of over 150 million searches each month. It stores two months of searches in its databases, somewhere around 310 million searches.

Wordtracker combines the data for the last 60 days and then allows its customers to search this database. Ask Wordtracker how often someone searched for the term rodent, and it will tell you that it had been searched for (at the time of writing) 77 times over the last 60 days but that the term rodents is far more popular, with 527 searches over the last 60 days.

Certain searches are seasonal — pools in the summer, heaters in the winter, and so on. Because Wordtracker has only the last 60 days of information, it may not be representative for a full year for some terms. And some searches may be influenced by the media. While searches for paris hilton were very high in November and December 2003, it’s likely they’ll be much lower by the time you read this. (We can hope, anyway.)

Here’s what information Wordtracker can provide:
_ The number of times in the last 60 days that the exact phrase you entered was searched for out of 310 million or so searches
_ An estimate of how many times each day the phrase is used throughout all the Web’s search engines
_ Similar terms and synonyms, and the usage statistics about these terms
_ Terms used in hundreds of competing sites’ KEYWORDS meta tags, ranked according to frequency
_ Common misspellings
_ A comparison of how often a term is searched for with how many pages appear for that term — a nice way to find terms with relatively little competition

Do metacrawlers provide better results? Here’s what Wordtracker claims:
_ Search results at the big search engines are skewed. Many Web site owners use them to check their sites’ rankings, sometimes several times a week. Thus, many searches are not true searches. Metacrawlers can’t be used for this purpose, so they provide cleaner results.
_ Wordtracker analyzes searches to find what appear to be fake, automated searches. Some companies carry out hundreds of searches an hour on particular keywords — company or product names, for instance — in an attempt to trick search engines into thinking these keywords generate a lot of interest.

Wordtracker is well worth the price. You can pay for access by the day (£4.20, around $7.25 currently), the week (£14/$24.15), the month (£28/$48.31), three months (£69/$119.04), or the year (£140/$241.53). Most professionals in the SEO business have a regular account with Wordtracker, but for individual sites, it may be worth just getting a day or two of access. One strategy is to build your list first, as described in this chapter, and then sign up for a day and run Wordtracker for that day. You may get enough done in a couple of hours; if not, you can always sign up for another day. (Of course these prices may change, so check the Wordtracker site.)

Anyone heavily involved in the Web and search engines can easily get addicted to this tool. Sometimes you’ve just got to know exactly how often people are searching for paris hilton (70,000 times a day), paris hilton video (46,000 times a day), star warsvkid (8,000), or craig the dog faced boy (14).

Tips for Affiliate Indonesia Site

Make Yourself A Millionare

Tips Kaya dari HYIP

3 Kunci + Rumus Sukses Bisnis di Internet

Kami promosikan usaha anda di 115 situs iklan baris

Pasang iklan model ADWORDS disini

<itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:subtitle>Make Yourself A Millionare Tips Kaya dari HYIP 3 Kunci + Rumus Sukses Bisnis di Internet Kami promosikan usaha anda di 115 situs iklan baris Pasang iklan model ADWORDS disini</itunes:subtitle><itunes:author>noreply@blogger.com (Unknown)</itunes:author><itunes:summary>Make Yourself A Millionare Tips Kaya dari HYIP 3 Kunci + Rumus Sukses Bisnis di Internet Kami promosikan usaha anda di 115 situs iklan baris Pasang iklan model ADWORDS disini</itunes:summary><itunes:keywords>Make,Money,Online,Online,Business,Online,Marketing,Affiliate,Affiliate,Program,Online,Publisher,Indonesia,Blog,Blogger,Pay,Per,clik,Pay,Per,Lead,Pay,Per,immpresion,Pay,Per,Sale,adsense,SEO,Keyword,adwords,Peluang,Usaha,Kerja,Sampinga</itunes:keywords>

Google AdSense programs: Choose your weapon(s)!

Google currently (mid 2005) offers three programs: AdSense for content, AdSense for search, and Premium AdSense.

AdSense for content
AdSense for content is the main AdSense program – contextually targeted ads are displayed on your webpage, and you get paid for every click. These ads are specifically targeted to the content of your webpage. Consequently, if you change the content of your page, the ads that are displayed would also change. AdSense allows you good control over what ads get served, since there might be some obvious problems if it didn’t. These include:

Blocking Ads – you choose
While the ad selection is automatic, you can block unwanted ads – such as those from your competitors. You just tell Google which companies to block from your sites.

Reviewing and filtering Ads – semi-automatic
Google has its own strict policies for ad content (no profanity, no racial discrimination, etc). These are filtered out automatically from your point of view. Additionally, you can choose to block additional content through custom filters. This is slightly different than blocking an advertiser, since with this method an advertiser you generally allow may submit ads that would individually be filtered out.

Allowing the publisher to select an ad
In the rare case where Google’s content engines can’t make a clear match of ads to pages, they will let you pick which ads you want served. If you don’t pick, you’ll get public service spots.

The look-and-feel of Ads can be customized
Ads shouldn’t look out of place or be jarring on your website. Google allows you to customize colors and layout. You can choose options provided or have your own custom layout and color applied to the ads. The advertisers have no control over this; as the material appears on your site, you can and should select how it looks.

Tools for analysis
Tracking and analyzing the performance of any marketing campaign is critical. Google AdSense provides a range of comprehensive online reports that allow you to monitor and analyze your earnings as well as the performance of ads by many metrics, including size, color, and so forth, so you can make adjustments to maximize the value of the placements.

AdSense for Search
This is another program whereby Google allows you to ad a Google Search box to your website. By doing this, visitors to your site can search the entire internet from your website itself. In a way, your site becomes a host to Google. Except you make money!
The search results page that is displayed when a visitor on your website searches through the search box on the site itself, also displays Google Ads (AdWords ads) next to the usual listings, just as it would on Google.com. If the visitor clicks on any of these Google Ads, you get paid as well. Thus, with AdSense for search you can enhance your income potential beyond what just the content of your actual site can provide.
AdSense for search offers all the same options and controls as AdSense for content. These include ad customization, ad filtering, monitoring and tracking results, and so on.

Google AdSense Premium service
The AdSense Premium service provides advanced functionality and features, provided your website qualifies for it – which in fact very few sites do.
As a base requirement, your website should received at least 5 million search queries or 20 million page views a month to qualify for the Premium service. (We’re betting if your sites qualify for this level of service, you already know all about AdSense!)

What is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is an ad-serving program that places ads that “make sense” – specifically, that make sense based on relevant content, and assumptions about who might be interested in that content. AdSense is an application of the broader concept of Contextual Marketing. Contextual Marketing is just what it sounds like. On a website about custom cars, you might have an ad for fancy wheels or car care kits. On a website about off-roading, you might have an ad for durable truck tires or spotlight rigs. A hockey site might advertise hockey sticks…and a tennis site, tennis shoes. Contextual Marketing just means aligning the ad serving with the context/nature of the website and its audience, the same way like items are grouped in a store. And the “context” can be cut much finer than website level, it can be page level, article level, and so on, so the ads always match the material they are appearing near, and thus, appeal to the interest of the reader/buyer at any given moment.

So what’s in it for you – the website publisher/owner? That’s easy. Every time a visitor to your site clicks one of these ads, you make money. The better the ads are targeted, the more clicks you get, the more money you make. AdSense displays easy-to-read, text-based, relevant ads that don’t overshadow the content of your website or annoy visitors. Actually, you have seen hundreds of these ads yourself, as you’ll realize in a moment.

Today there are probably only a few places in your website that can directly make you money, if any. The magic of Google AdSense is this: It allows you to earn money through every page of your website. On top of that, with algorithms used to align ad content with page content Google automatically selects and displays ads for your website that are likely to generate the highest revenue for you.

AdSense is an application of AdWords beyond Google.com
Making “sense” of AdSense means understanding that it is really an offshoot of the older Google model, AdWords. But they are not the same thing.

Google AdWords
If you have ever searched on Google, you have seen AdWords.
Google AdWords are the small text ads that are displayed on the side of the search results in Google. These ads are contextual of course – in this case the context is the search terms you entered. The ads will be served based on what you’re looking for. So, if you do a search on “printing services” you will get ads for printing services along with your search results!
How does this generate money for Google and the advertisers?
Google AdWords works on a model known as pay-per-click. When someone clicks on an AdWords ad, the advertiser of that ad has to pay Google a certain amount. It’s easy to track and fully automated.
We say “certain amount” because that amount is different all the time and is subject to market forces – in this case, bidding. Something has to determine the placement of those ads, and what determines it is how much the advertiser offers to pay per click. When you submit this kind of ad to Google, you submit it with a bid – which is compared to other bids for similar keywords. It’s an auction style process.
The position of the AdWords ads is based on the bidding amount of keywords of an ad. Obviously, the higher the bid, the higher the position the bid buys you. For instance, if the highest bid for the keywords “Internet marketing” is 80 cents per click, you can get top position by bidding 90 cents. Then every time someone clicks on your ad, Google would charge you 90 cents, and you would retain the top position until someone else bids more for the same search word placement.

Google AdSense, as stated earlier, is an extension of Google AdWords. It takes the AdWords concept and moves it off of Google’s search page and onto thousands of other web pages. The ads that are displayed on the websites are Google AdWords ads.

It’s good for the advertiser, who gets more and broader displays, for Google, who charge more for this program, for you, who will make money from the clickthroughs on your pages, and also for the consumer, who will see cool ads for stuff they are probably interested in!

So how exactly are you making money from all this? You earn a share of the pay-per-click amount, every time a visitor clicks on the ad. So you just need to get ads on your site…

How the Ads Get On Your Site
Once you join the AdSense program – and Google approves your site or sites, which we’ll cover in detail shortly – the actual process of displaying ads on your website is extremely simple. You are provided with a small HTML script, which you can paste anywhere on your webpage. You may paste this code any number of times and on multiple pages, and watch the ads get served! Google automatically places AdWords ads that are most relevant, from its extensive advertiser base. Google employs various sophisticated algorithms to determine the relevancy of the ads to your content.
Before we get into how Google assesses sites, and whether a few or many placements of that magic script will deliver optimum results, let’s review the advantages of AdSense.

Advantages of the Google AdSense system
Google AdSense is simple to use and manage. Once approved, displaying ads on your webpage does not take time and requires minimal technical knowledge.
Google AdSense is very smart about ad selection. The ads that are displayed are only those that are relevant to your content, and Google has strict quality control on the general quality of the ads.
Google AdSense uses text-only ads. Far from being low-tech, text ads are more effective than flashy ads. The clickthrough rate of text ads is proven to be higher than that of animated ads! More clicks equals more money, and text ads equals more clicks. Also…text ads are very “low weight” and very fast loading. The AdSense program will not slow your website, or your visitors, down. You can also use graphic ads.

Starting Your Keyword Analysis

You have to do a keyword analysis — a check of what keywords people use to search on the Web or you’re wasting your time. Imagine spending hundreds of hours optimizing your site for a keyword you think is good, only to discoverthat another keyword or phrase gets two or three times the traffic. How would you feel? Sick? Stupid? Mad? Don’t risk your mental health — do it right the first time.

Identifying the obvious keywords
Begin by typing the obvious keywords into a text editor or word processor — the ones you’ve already thought of, or, if you haven’t started yet, the ones that immediately come to mind. Then study the list for a few minutes. What else can you add? What similar terms come to mind? Add them, too.
When you do your analysis, you’ll find that some of the initial terms you think of aren’t searched for very often, but that’s okay. This list is just the start.

Looking at your Web site’s access logs
Take a quick look at your Web site’s access logs (often called hit logs), a subject I discuss in Chapter 18. You may not realize it, but most logs show you the keywords that people used when they clicked a link to your site at a search engine.
(If your logs don’t contain this information, you probably need another program!) Write down the terms that are bringing people to your site.

Examining competitors’ keyword tags
You probably know who your competitors are (you should, anyway). Go to their sites and open the source code of a few pages at each site — just choose View Source from the browser’s menu bar to get a peek. Look for the NAME=”keywords”> tag and see if you find any useful keywords there. Often the keywords are garbage, or simply not there, but if you look at enough sites, you’re likely to come up with some useful terms you hadn’t thought of.

Brainstorming with colleagues
Talk to other friends and colleagues to see if they can come up with some possible keywords. Ask them something like, “If you were looking for a site at which you could find the latest scores for rodent races around the world, what terms would you search for?”
Give everyone a copy of your current keyword list and ask if they can think of anything to add to it. Usually, reading the terms will spark an idea or two, and you’ll end up with a few more terms.

Looking closely at your list
After you’ve put together your initial list, go through it looking for more obvious additions. Don’t spend too much time on this; all you’re doing here is creating a preliminary list to run through a keyword tool, which will also figure out some of these things for you.

Obvious spelling mistakes
Scan through your list and see if you can think of any obvious spelling mistakes. Some spelling mistakes are incredibly important, with 10, 15, or 20 percent of all searches containing the word being misspelled, sometimes even more! For example, about one-fifth of all Britney Spears–related searches are misspelled, spread out over a dozen misspellings — which might allow me to take a cheap shot, but I have no intention of doing so. The word calendar is also frequently misspelled. Look at the following list, an estimate of how often the single word calendar is searched for each day, in its

various permutations:
calendar: 10,605 times
calender: 2,721
calander: 1,549
calandar: 256

Thirty percent of all searches on the word calendar are misspelled! (Where do I get these estimates, you’re wondering? You find out later in this chapter, starting at “Using a keyword tool.”)
If the traffic from a misspelling is significant, you may want to create a page on your site that uses that misspelling. Some sites contain what I call “Did You Mean” pages, such as the one shown in Figure 4-1. Some sites contain pages using misspellings in the TITLE tags, which can work very well. These don’t have to be pages that many people see. After all, the only people who will see the misspelled titles in a search results page are those who misspelled the words in the first place!
One nice thing about misspellings is that often competitors have missed them, so you can grab the traffic without much trouble.

Synonyms
Sometimes similar words are easily missed. If your business is a home-related business, for instance, have you thought about the term house? Americans may easily overlook this word, using home instead, but other English-speaking countries use the word often. Still, add it to the list because you may find quite a few searches related to it.
You might even use a thesaurus to find more synonyms. However, I show you some keyword tools that will run these kinds of searches for you — see “Using a keyword tool.”

Split or merged words
You may find that although your product name is one word — RodentRacing, for instance — most people are searching for you using two words, rodent and racing. Remember to consider your customer’s point of view.
Also, some words are employed in two ways. Some people, for instance, use the term knowledgebase, while others use knowledge base. Which is more important? Both should be on your list, but knowledge base is used around four to five times more often than knowledgebase. If you optimize your pages for knowledgebase (I discuss page optimization in Chapter 6), you’re missing out on around 80 percent of the traffic!

Singulars and plurals
Go through your list and add singulars and plurals. Search engines treat singulars and plurals differently. For example, searching on rodent and rodents provides different results, so it’s important to know which term is searched for most often. A great example is to do a search on book (1,635 searches per day, according to Wordtracker, which is discussed later in this chapter) and books (16,475 searches per day) in Google. A search on book returns Barnes and Noble as the number-one result, while books returns Amazon.com.
You don’t need to worry about upper- versus lowercase. You can use rodent or rodent or RODENT, for example. Most search engines aren’t case sensitive.
If you search for rodent (and probably almost 90 percent of all searches are in lowercase), virtually all search engines will find Rodent or RODENT — or rODENT or ROdent, for that matter.

Hyphenated words
Do you see any hyphenated words on your list that could be used without the hyphen, or vice versa? Some terms are commonly used both ways, so find out what your customers are using. Here are two examples:
_ The terms ecommerce and e-commerce are fairly evenly split, with a littleover 50 percent of searches using the latter term.
_ The dash in e-mail is far less frequently used, with email being the most common term.
Find hyphenated words, add both forms to your list, and determine which is more common because search engines treat them as different searches.

Search engines generally treat a hyphen as a space. So searching for rodentracing is the same as searching for rodent racing. However, there is a real difference between e-commerce and ecommerce, or rodentracing and rodent-racing.

Geo-specific terms
Is geography important to your business? Are you selling shoes in Seattle or rodents in Rochester? Don’t forget to include terms that include your city, state, other nearby cities, and so on.

Your company name
If you have a well-known company name, add that to the list, in whatever permutations you can think of (Microsoft, MS, MSFT, and so on).

Other companies’ names and product names
If people will likely be searching for companies and products similar to yours, add those companies and products to your list. That’s not to say you should use these keywords in your pages — you can in some conditions, as I discuss in Chapter 6. But it’s nice to know what people are looking for and how often they’re looking.

Understanding The Importance

When you go to a search engine and try to find something, you type in a word, or several words, and click the Search button. The search engine then looks in its index for those words.

Suppose that you used the words rodent racing. Generally speaking, the search engine will look for various things:
Pages that contain the exact phrase rodent racing Pages that don’t have the phrase rodent racing, but do have the words rodent and racing in close proximity
Pages that have the words rodent and racing somewhere, though not necessarily close together
Pages with word stems; for instance, pages with the word rodent and the word race somewhere in the page
Pages that have links pointing to them, in which the link text contains the phrase rodent racing
Pages with links pointing to them with the link text containing the words rodent and racing, although not together

The process is actually a lot more complicated than this. The search engine doesn’t necessarily show pages in the order I just listed — all the pages with the exact phrase, then all the pages with the words in close proximity, and so on. Rather, when considering the order in which to rank pages, the search engine takes into consideration other characteristics of the keyword or keyword phrase:
Is the keyword phrase found in bold text?
In italic text?
In bulleted lists?
In text larger than most of the other text on the page?
In heading text (<h> tags)?
. . . and hundreds of other criteria, all of which are secret!

Despite all the various complications, however, one fact is of paramount importance: If a search engine can’t relate to your Web site the words that someone searches for, it has no reason to return your Web site as part of the search results.

Picking the right keywords is critical. As Woody Allen once said, “Eighty percent of success is showing up.” If you don’t play the game, you can’t win. And if you don’t choose the right keywords, you’re not even showing up to play the game.

Understanding how to search helps you understand the role of keywords. Check out the Bonus Chapter to find out the different ways you can search using the search engines in general and Google in particular.

Picking Powerful Keywords

I was talking with a client the other day who wanted to have his site rank well in the search engines. (I’ve changed the details of this story a tad to protect the client’s privacy.) Let’s say the client is a company with annual revenues in the millions of dollars (as indeed this client is), in the business of, oh, I dunno . . . staging rodent-racing events.

I did a little research and found that most people searching for rodent-racing events use the keywords rodent racing. (Big surprise, huh?) I took a look at the client’s Web site and discovered that the words rodent racing didn’t appear anywhere on the site’s Web pages.

“You have a little problem,” I said. “Your site doesn’t use the words rodent racing, so it’s unlikely that any search engine will find your site when people search for that.”

“Oh, well,” was the client’s reply, “our marketing department objects to the term. We have a company policy to use the term furry friend events. The term rodent is too demeaning, and if we say we’re racing them, the animal-rights people will get upset.”

This is a true story, well, except for the bit about rodent racing and the furry friends thing. But in principle it happened. This company had a policy not to use the words that most of its potential clients were using to search for it.

You may be asking yourself how it’s possible that a company can build a Web site only to discover later that the keywords its potential clients and visitors are using are not in the site. Well, I can think of a couple of reasons:
Most sites are built without any regard for the search engines. The site designers simply don’t think about the search engines or have little background knowledge about how search engines work.
The site designers do think about the search engines, but they guess, often incorrectly, what keywords they should be using.

I can’t tell you how the client and I resolved this problem because, well, we haven’t yet resolved it. But I am going to tell you how to pick keywords that make sense for your site, as well as how to discover what keywords your potential site visitors are using to search for your products and services.

Make Sense of Google AdSense – and make money!

As a successful web publisher looking to get to the next level, you are probably thinking about trying a number of different approaches to increasing revenue – especially your passive revenue, the money that just “shows up” from time to time while you focus on other things. You may be considering various forms of internet advertising. And you should.

Internet advertising has exceeded all expectations. The technology keeps advancing, and the popularity and ubiquity of the medium is incredible. Most companies can benefit from the Internet because it allows the chance to reach a global audience at never-before-possible speeds, with many kinds of filters to make sure the right audience sees the right message, and costs that are often surprisingly low. But many businesses make money online in ways that have very little to do with their own actual business, but with systems that connect various companies and offerings together.

You may be wondering how to make money easily with online advertising, and you have come to the right place!

The secret is that taking ads is a much more profitable strategy then placing ads for most websites. And the best way to make money with this right now is “hiding in plain sight” from the world’s most popular search engine company.

While there are many ways to approach online advertising, it makes sense the best would be offered by the ultimate search engine company, the company that is setting out to organize all of humanity’s vast amounts of information – Google. This method is Google Ad Words, and it’s sister program, Google AdSense. With Ad Words, Google makes a lot of money. With AdSense, web publishers – that’s you! – can reach a lot of people and make a lot of money too!

In this report, we’re going to focus in on how to make sense of, and a lot of money with, Google’s AdSense program. Want to make five or ten or twenty thousand dollars a month automatically and be paid by one of the biggest Internet companies in the world?

We’ll describe what AdSense is, how it works, how to get started, how to maximize the program, and where to go from here! Ready?

First let’s examine what AdSense is and how it works.

Sign Up As An Affiliate, Write Your Article And Submitting To Social Sites

Sign up as an affiliate
Here's how this is going to work. You're going to sign up as an eBay affiliate through AuctionAds. They give you $25 in credit just for signing up, and you'll get paid as soon as you make over $50. The payouts work like this. You promote eBay auctions on your site. Anyone who clicks through your link to eBay will have a cookie stored in their browser. If they're not an eBay member and they sign up, you get $25. If they're already a member and they buy anything on eBay within 7 days, you get half of what eBay makes on the sale.

The important thing is that they don't have to buy the product you are specifically promoting. So what you need to do is find a product that's just interesting or funny enough for readers to click through and look at. The group we're going to be marketing towards are pretty active on eBay, and when we send tens of thousands of people through your link, the cash just starts coming.

You're going to have to create accounts for yourself in several places. First of all, get signed up as an eBay affiliate.

Go to AuctionAds.com and sign up. Once you get approved, you should also create accounts for yourself at Digg and StumbleUpon. The article we're going to write is going to be submitted to both of those sites and with a little help, it will go viral and make you some cash.

Write your article
The main thing to think about when you're writing your article is that you don't want to sound like you're selling the item. Just write it from the perspective of "here's something weird that I found on eBay." An good tactic is to find something really off the wall with a good picture, and say just a little about it, so they have to click through to find out more. All you want them to do is click your link. We'll send enough people through, that many of them are bound to buy something on eBay within a week.

Once you've got your article written, head over to auction ads, and use their URL tool to make your link. Have several text links in your article using different anchor text to go to the same link, as well as having a picture of the item that is linked to it.

Submitting to social sites
Post the article on your blog, and you're ready to submit it to the viral sites. I recommend submitting it to StumbleUpon first. Submit the direct link to the article, not just the front page of the blog. With StumbleUpon, just go to your article page, and click on the Thumbs Up in your toolbar. It will bring up a window to review and tag the page. Make sure you use a relevant category, as this dictates the types of people the site will be shown to. You can head over to the Digital Point forums, where they have a Stumble Exchange. You can trade Stumbles with people and get your article more exposure.

Next you want to submit to Digg. Be very careful with the headline and description that you use. Read Digg for a few days to get the idea of what gets popular.

When you've submitted to Digg, head over to http://dealworx.com and buy yourself some Diggs.
Chances are your story won't get popular without a little help. This site uses an anonymous network of Diggers to help your story get popular. Spending $50 on 50 diggs will get it to the front page as long as it's a well written article that doesn't seem to be selling anything. This is a small investment considering that a front page on Digg will get your story about 50,000 hits.

Setting Up Your Blog

Even if you already have an active blog, I recommend reading this section, as I'll talk about specific options to setup for the best results. If you've never setup a blog, or Wordpress, this will give you a good idea what's involved.

First of all, if you don't have a website already, you're going to need to buy a domain and hosting. I don't recommend using a free host, as the amount of traffic we are going to drive to your site will get your account suspended. I run all of my blogs on one account at Hostgator, and pay $9.99 a month. You can sign up for a free month of hosting, with no obligation with the coupon code ICEISHOT.

You'll need a domain as well. I use GoDaddy as my registrar, since they're ICANN certified, and have great prices. Plus they've got a great interface to sell your domain in an auction format. This is a good strategy if you don't have the energy to keep posting and growing your blog, since once we get monster traffic for a short period of time, the domain will be much more desirable to buy, and you should be able to make a good profit (in addition to all the affiliate commissions you're going to make).

If you do sign up for Hostgator, the have a service called Fantastico that will automatically install a variety of different programs on your site. It has an auto install set up for Wordpress, which is what we'll be using for our blog. All you have to do is click install, fill out a few fields of info about your blog, and it sets it all up for you.

Once you've got your site set up, there are a few things to do to make sure you're ready for tons of traffic:
• Install a good looking theme (you can find one at http://www.wpthemesfree.com/ )
• Delete the default blogroll links, post, and comments
• Install the following plugins
• wp-cache
• Sociable
• Setup your permalink structure as custom and enter this in the field: /%postname%

WP-cache is very important, because it will allow your site to get a ridiculous amount of traffic without falling over dead.

Now your blog is ready, lets get the other pieces of the puzzle into place

Make $768.98 Per Blog Post

I'm going to let you in on a secret. I've come up with a sneaky method to get massive traffic to a blog
post, with huge click-through to your affiliate link. Using this method, it doesn't matter what product
you are promoting, because they don't have to buy that specific product for you to make a commission.
There's no fluff in this report. I'll outline my method step by step, so that you can make hundreds or
even thousands of dollars with just one blog post. There's nothing illegal about what we're doing
(though some might say it's a bit devious).
So without further ado, lets reveal the secret. Here' a basic outline of what you'll be doing. You can use
it as a checklist once you understand what we're going to be doing.

• Setup a Wordpress blog
• Sign up to AuctionAds and find an interesting item to write about
• Create an account on Digg and StumbleUpon
• Write a short article
• Use Dealworx to get to the front page of Digg (this is the trick)
• Watch the cash roll in

That's it. That's the secret. Now let's dig in and start the process, so we can sit back and watch our
commissions increase.

Software you'll need to download (all free):
• Firefox
• StumbleUpon
• Wordpress
• wp-cache
• Sociable
