It has been five years since I have updated my website, and I felt it was about time to show off what I can do and what I have learned in the past years. I would have to say that I have learned so much in last couple years, much of which I didn't even expect to learn.Design has always been a large part of my life; therefore, in this instance I wanted to finally take my time and design a site that was indicative of my talents. This version of onfiredesigns.com has shown my growth ten-fold since my last design. I decided to redesign my logo to be much simpler this time. I feel with a simpler logo to build from I was able to really punch in textures and colors as much as I would want and it wouldn't diminish the logo at all. I decided to design a dark site, remaining consistent with past versions of my site, because I enjoy looking at darker sites, and it fit the theme of the site well. Although the site was designed to be dark I understood that it is a challenge for users to read text that is light on dark so I decided to add a lighter burnt paper texture so I could reverse the color scheme. I feel the most interesting part of the site belongs to the illustration mascot of myself. I feel that with the intro text it really grabs the user’s attention in that first few seconds. The design was created to be dynamic and use the amazing Jquery to handle all of my site animations so the designs had to be created accordingly.On the development end of things, it was my purpose to develop everything from scratch so I could feel a sense of accomplishment as well as show off my talents in the development world. Everything from the animating buttons, featured work section and portfolio page was created from scratch using Jquery as the backbone of the animation. The site is developed on a Wordpress backend, but I don't really use any of the natural features of Wordpress. I decided I needed more of a pure CMS to accomplish what I wanted and to streamline the usability of the backend for myself. With that said PODs CMS to to the rescue. This amazing plug-in converts Wordpress into what it should truly be for developers, a pure CMS system. Having this system has allowed me to create individual sections for my site as well as allowing me to have specific content types that I need for each section. Overall this site has been an amazing accomplishment even though it’s taken me about 4 months to complete with my very hectic schedule. I hope you enjoy my new site.
